31Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. 32 Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Thank you Jesus we are in your kingdom and get to seek you!
15And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
The Bible says so many times that we do not have to be afraid or worry! Yet that is probably the thing we do, or at least I do, the most!! God knows what his children need and will take care of us.
11And Asa cried to the Lord his God, “O Lord, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.” -ellie
Actually, Rehaboam is Solomon’s son. Jeroboam rebelled against Solomon and when his son, Rehaboam became king, challenged him. Jereboam wound up being king of 10 of the tribes, leaving Rehaboam king of only 2 tribes. David’s heir did remain on the throne, but due to Solomon’s worshipping idols at the end of his life, most of Israel was torn from him.
After reading the comments, I went back and re-read Asa’s prayer; it combined with the Luke reading was a powerful reminder that prayer is the most important weapon against anxiety
I’m struck by the war that Abijah and Judah engages against the rest of Israel. You think back on the sorrow that Israel had as it went to battle against the tribe of Benjamin. Truly just as Jesus said he came to divide, brother from brother here are separated by love for God and love for idols. May we be just as fiercely loyal to the Lord and His commandments.
25And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
A good reminder that I am not in control. He is sovereign and I need to trust in Him.
I’m a few days behind but I am glad I read this today. God is calling me to mission and he called me to a particular YWAM DTS to be built and moulded. I still have quite a while to get the money I need but I’m only 17 and the idea of needing another £8000 by this time next year is pretty scary. But today I was reminded by this passage that if I seek the kingdom first then the rest will fall into place. If I have the faith to follow God to the places he wants me then he will do the ‘how’ and provide me with all the finance I could need.
god is mighty. he is king. whatever is going on in Europe will be under gods control. the powerless will be made mighty – whatever the outcome for the people of britain
“Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known”. Scary concept! The things that I think I am being so good at hiding … Those things will be displayed openly
I was thinking exactly that…plus all the advertising and the need to compare yourself to others also makes me want to accumulate more things. But greed is just that greed.
22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life ? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? This is just what I needed to read today! God is good!!
I just love this passage in The Message:
29-32 “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.

So simple! So straight forward!
Wow..there is just so much in today’s reading. I love Asa’s prayer in 2 Chronicles 14:11. Isn’t it wonderful..the numerous ways throughout scripture where we are given examples of how to pray? It ties in so well with where we are in Luke, and what our priorities and petitions should be. Luke 12:14 “..life does not consist of an abundance of possessions. ” I pray that my prayers might rise above what I think my daily needs are and focus more on being “rich toward God.” (Luke 12:21). Again..wow! What a way to start the day!
In the study notes of my bible it says of verses 12:22-30 that to use your energies in worry over things you cannot control is futile and inappropriate. And that when we drink the cup of His sufferings it is never to be taken lightly. We should embrace the suffering as a privilege for the opportunity of testimony and means of Glorifying the Father. The opportunity of testimony reminds me of a devotional that taught me this…. Our history is His story. Every high and every low, no matter how awful or embarrassing it may be, is part of His story of redemption and transformation in our lives. He means for us to not only learn from the past but to FREELY share it, and share how he has used and shaped us through it. Don’t be ashamed and hide your past, because someone out there needs to hear your story. It will help them through theirs.
Becca, John MacArthur says about vs 10 “this is not a sin of ignorance, but a deliberate, willful, settled hostility toward Christ-exemplified by the Pharisees who attributed to Satan the work of Christ”
First, the son of man refers to Jesus who is a separate person of the trinity from the Holy Spirit. When a person sees the work of Christ and is visited and enlightened by the Holy Spirit (perhaps through the witness of a believer) and still rejects the truth of the gospel, I believe God takes this offense very seriously and therefore will not forgive this person who has seen the light but chosen darkness. Of course this does not mean we stop witnessing to these people, because we don’t know who God has predestined for salvation and therefore should not give up easily. However Jesus does speak about eventually leaving these blasphemers to their own fate and (Luke 9:5) and moving on to the next unbeliever when the gospel has been rejected.
Amen! So true how you can’t carry the objects you have on earth with you in the afterlife so why worry about them? Why worry about anything when the Lord is the provider as long as we believe unashamed!
34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Where is my heart at today? What am I storing up that will not gain me anything past this earth? I want my heart constantly toward my Lord and Savior. That is my prayer for me, as well as all of you :)
29 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. 30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.
This world seeks riches and comfort and it’s hard not to be swept up by material things.
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Perfect passage to read at 2am when I cant sleep over worry. Just reading these verses in Luke, I am astounded at how amazing our Heavenly Father is and how much we worry about the smallest of things and forget that the one who spoke the universe into existence is taking care of every need in His perfect timing. As a human, I worry way more than I should knowing that God’s got me, but The Lord wants all of my burdens to be cast on Him and keep nothing to worry about.
Julie, our God is so big. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. You have cried for worry in the night; so have I. May we both not forget: our Father knows, your name, your fear, your need. He has for you & me, in Christ alone, an inheritance that is so big. How can He not take care of our little sparrow-things? (Big to us, not to Him.) He is pleased to do so. Keep casting the care on Him. It is what Jesus died for. Pray for me that I will do that too.

19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’
How many times do we give in to this lie?

Luke 12 is really reassuring to me bc it helps me realize that if we do EVERYTHING for God’s glory then were good to go for heaven. God deserves that.

just as in our country, too. God is sovereign :) <3

Good reminder. Especially when it’s easy to long for stuff others have or are doing via sharing on social media.

Prayers needed to keep anxiety under control
Praying for peace over your heart and mind.

10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
Can anyone give light to me about what this verse means concerning the son of man verse the holy Spirit ?
