    I long to be the like the woman with the alabaster jar- willing to sit at his feet and worship with all that is within me- thankful to be forgiven- thankful for his grace and so thankful for his word!

      And thankful for His presence too, I so desire this as well!!

    Chapter 17 has never stood out to me much, but today I read it aloud for a change. This allowed me to hear the inflections I had missed before. David has a skewed perspective at the beginning, and is making an “I” statement about what he has and what HE should do. God responds through Nathan with a lengthy rebuttal in which he says “I” and “my” thirty times. He reminds David that He alone is the great “I Am.” David is humbled and reminded of his place even while he accepts a great blessing from the Lord. His response begins with “Who am I, Lord God, and what is my house that You have brought me this far?” He continues with a lengthy praise-prayer that is fully YOU based, and ascribes all praise to God.

    The reminder here, my sisters, is to examine our prayer life and our attitude toward God. Are we using a lot of “I” and “My” language? Are we centering our lives around the King who IS the center, or are we pushing ourselves into that reserved spot once again? I’m so very guilty of this, today and every day. It’s a relief to know that even David, a man after God’s own heart, was susceptible to this, and that God was merciful and graceful to him regardless. He will do the same for us if we repent and humble ourselves again.

      Beautiful words of wisdom that are convicting to me! Thank you for sharing this. I am praying that my dialogue with God will be less focused on me and more rightly focused on Christ.

      Wow thank you!

  3. Melissa says:

    I understand so much better now why Jesus loves the sinners and wants us to endure hardship! “But he who is forgiven little, loves little”. The sinners who were deep in their transgressions have more to be thankful for than those of us who don’t experience intense worldly trials.

    Shirl. I agree! Today really lifted me also!

  5. Linda says:

    What a beautiful praise chapter after so many boring days of names! I did not remember this oasis among statistics!

  6. Sandy says:

    8 Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
    make known his deeds among the peoples!
    9 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
    tell of all his wondrous works!
    10 Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
    11 Seek the Lord and his strength;
    seek his presence continually!
    May we be obedient to do this today and everyday!

  7. Shirl says:

    47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” 48 And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Thank God for his forgiveness of sins
