Philippians 1:21

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week, we will memorize our key verse for the book of Philippians.

For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. —Philippians 1:21

This verse is so powerful! I so badly want to be the believer that says they are not afraid of death. And while I believe in and love the Lord, death does scare me! I’m so afraid of all the things that are lost by death. I think a lot of this is to do with the grief we have here on earth when a loved ones is called home to the Lord. But this verse reminds me that there is so much more after death, that when we are called home, we gain a totally new life. Amen sisters! It always feels so heavy to think of death and grief, so if any of you are going to a period of loss, please allow me pray for you.

I’m catching up on the She Reads Truth Podcast because I got seriously behind. Listening to week one of Ephesians (I know it’s merged with Galatians/also known as week 4). I was at the beginning of 1 and 2 Corinthians and then forgot about it for awhile.

“Alive, I’m Christ’s messenger; dead, I’m his bounty. Life versus even more life! I can’t lose.” – Phil. 1:21, The Message

    Life versus even more life…
Nothing to lose. Everything to gain.
An everlasting hope and “golden joy” (as TINA once said)!

    Have a blessed Sunday ❤️

    1. Tina says:

Julia, thank you for the message version as I was going to see what it said too!

If we live, we are helping to further God’s kingdom. Bringing one more person to heaven. If we die, how we lived our lives should bring glory to God. I pray I will do this!

    GOOD Morning She’s!!

I do love Sundays, to go to church!Itis wonderful and we shouldn’t take for granted getting to go and worship as we please. We have gotten really comfortable in our great land, but freedoms can change swiftly. Hard to fathom, but we know that the Word TELLS us this. So we should in turn truly grasp the scripture today.

“For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain”

Live…here and now IN CHRIST—Living his truth daily, growing in his strength, showing the fruits of a life in him. It is a privilege to know him, shouldn’t we be jumping for joy in that?! And then we actually have Hope in Death! wow. There is a hundred percent chance death is coming, but we don’t have to fear it!! It is going to be amazing…better than the here could EVER be!! That is some hope!! That should just really give us peace! I had so much more peace when my mom died because she made it very known that she couldn’t WAIT to get to heaven! Now that is amazing! She even told the grandkids once, all gathered around, that she hopes they believe in Jesus so she can see them there in heaven with her. I am blessed to have it on video. So live in Christ She’, but we will be thrilled for when you get to the table. Just think…when our dear Dorothy made it!!! Whoooo! All those capitals and exclamations…she was for sure jumping for joy!!

    1. Tina says:

Ahh, Rhonda, I think of DOROTHY often..! Yes indeed, she made it for sure..❤

Notable verses for me from this outstanding week of study:
9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

27 Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.

Kelly (NEO)- I was so touched that you remembered Sydney! She has a long road but is recovering beautifully from her heart issue last spring. She now lives with a pacemaker implanted and goes to therapy as she is working to build her strength back up. The doctors say it could take years but thank God she is here and able to do it! In August she was able to walk in a 5K raising money for the America. heart Association. Such a beautiful thing!! Thank you for the prayers.

  13. Kelly (NEO) says:

The verse took me this Afro-American spiritual. Sing along with me:
    .
1 In the morning when I rise,
in the morning when I rise,
in the morning when I rise,
    give me Jesus.

    Refrain:
Give me Jesus, give me Jesus.
You may have all this world, give me Jesus.

2 Dark midnight was my cry,
    dark midnight was cry,
    dark midnight was my cry,
    give me Jesus. [Refrain]

3 I heard the mourner say,
    I heard the mourner say,
    I heard the mourner say,
    give me Jesus. [Refrain]

4 Oh, when I come to die,
oh, when I come to die,
oh, when I come to die,
    give me Jesus. [Refrain]

Thank you ladies for the update replies posted to my many posts yesterday (seemed to be the only way to get around the moderation hangup).

It’s Communion Sunday at my church today. Looking forward to joining my church family in remembering all Jesus has done for my redemption.

    1. Cat-tee says:

Good Morning Kelly! My friend’s daughter “rang the bell” as she has finished the long road of chemo a bit over a week ago. It has done a good job of shrinking the tumor considerably. She will have her double mastectomy a month from today. I’m praying not only for peace, strength, and a complete cure for her, but also for her and her family to see the power of prayer and God’s strength and love through this as they are not believers. I so appreciate your and everyone’s prayers for her ❤️

      1. Cee Gee says:

That’s so encouraging, Cat-tee! ❤ praying with you for their salvation!

    4. Indiana Elaine says:

Thank you, Kelly (NEO), for your prayers for Steven. He has had one set back after another. He fell yet again and this time broke his leg. He was in a rehab facility for awhile and we were learning to walk together. However, he had yet another set back after returning home. He crashed his wheelchair in a parking lot. It was a real setback to his rehab. He is in a lot of pain, but since he was addicted to painkillers, he is limited in what he can take. He is discouraged, but has had a rich spiritual experience through it all.

We also had communion at our church today along with celebrating 3 years of the birth of our church. It was wonderful to be back together with the church family. Closing song was “The Goodness of God”, my go to song during recovery from knee replacement!! God is good!!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Oh I love Goodness of God too! That is my sing to myself to fall asleep every night!

We also had communion today! The message was good too, about everything to be for the Glory of God. We are all called to be priests for him, to represent him in all of our actions, words and deeds! Amen!

    5. Victoria E says:

I love this song Kelly (Neo). Thanks for sharing !
