Advent is a season to celebrate and contemplate. We rejoice that our Savior has come to us! We also seek unhurried moments of quiet to reflect on His wondrous light and the promise of His future return. Take time today to pause from the busyness of the season to catch up on your reading, make space for prayer, and rest in God’s presence.
I see him, but not now;
I perceive him, but not near.
A star will come from Jacob,
and a scepter will arise from Israel.
–Numbers 24:17

Lord you are good
❤️
♥️
Sweet Jesus, we praise You for being our sovereign King. You are the Lifter of our heads and Healer of our hearts. You are Prince of Peace. King of kings. Lord of lords. Creator of all. We lift up to You all those affected by the recent tornadoes and storms in Kentucky Texas and elsewhere. God only You can comfort those affected. We ask that You wrap Your loving arms around them. Give them Your peace. Provide shelter, food, new homes, new cars. Send Christians their way to be Your hands abd feet and love on them in the power of Your Holy Spirit. Bring physical healing and spiritual healing. Mental and emotional healing. Bind up broken hearts. Grant an oil of joy instead of a spirit of despair. We trust You to work even these sad stories for good. In Your sweet name we pray. Amen.
Why is it so hard to make my heart quiet and pray? Thank you for this reminder. Several friends have received hard news this week….. only Jesus can give the Peace, salvation, solace that we all need.
Praying for our KY SRT sisters
Thank you Jesus for being my light ⭐️
❤️
I live in Springfield, KY. We were lucky to not be affected by the tornadoes, but my heart is devastated for everyone who has lost something or in some cases, everything, and for the lives lost as well. I’ve been praying hard since I woke up Saturday morning and saw the damage.
Amen
Kat, I also live in Bowling Green, KY!
Please keep our community in your prayers. My house was hit but the damage was not as substantial as so many others in this community. So many businesses and homes lost. We needs prayers to rebuild and prayers for those with no where else to go and who have little resources.
Kat, I also live in Bowling Green, KY!
We are glad to hear from my Kentucky friends! Glad your home is ok @Kat Mooore.
@Carrie and Ashley, I am from Western Ky as well (West Paducah) and live in SW Florida too!! (South Fort Myers!) Crazy.
There was one more from Kentucky-glad you are ok! Prayers for all of you.
I have a praise, that we invited my friend and her daughter to church with us again and they said sure and went! Love that. You never know who you can invite, and could change their life with seed planting. This girl had never been to church except the previous time! I want her to grow up knowing the love of God in this crazy secular world.
❤️
Pam, thank you for checking on us. I am a Bowling Green Ky resident and the devastation is immense. My home was completely saved but just streets ahead of mine there is a ton of damage. I feel so blessed but I’m completely heart broken.
❤️
So glad they are okay! I am from western KY too and now live in SW Florida. It is heartbreaking to see the pics and videos from Mayfield.
So glad they are okay! I’m from western KY too and now live in SW Florida. It is heartbreaking what happened there.
❤️
Oh ladies. I was born and raised in western Kentucky, but currently live in Florida. When I woke up to the news this morning, I immediately tried to reach my parents and other family members. I was only able to reach my brother, and he lives almost an hour away from my parents. In desperation, I commented on Facebook posts and even called the sheriff of the very rural town my parents live in to no avail. My parents live 2 miles down a dirt road on 100 acres. My mind was giving me all the worst case scenarios. Finally around noon, my mom called me from a different phone. Praise God they are okay. No phones or internet, but they are unscathed. They have found tons of debris on their property. So many people are not so lucky. Shes, please join me in praying for my fellow Kentuckians and all those affected by these horrific tornadoes.
I was just checking in to see if we’d heard from everyone in the various storm’s paths.. you are in our prayers. Churchmouse you said it so very eloquently. Thank you for sharing here so we could join in and add our “Amen”.
Thank you for all your comments they have really blessed me! This is my first year doing this study and it has come at such a perfect time as I have been through more trials than ever. Amazing how in the hard place the light seems to shine even brighter as our whole being reaches out in desperation to take the light of Christ and let the light fill us to overflowing! Glorious light flooding our soul! In ever increasing darkness may we all partake of the feast of light from God more than ever before and shine as brightly as the star of Bethlehem!
Thank you for you your prayers! We certainly need them here in Western KY. We are surrounded by terrible devastation but I am so thankful the Lord spared our home.
I too lift up prayers for all those affected from the tornadoes, the pictures are heartbreaking. Just an aside that came to mind today regarding the missionaries in Haiti still being held captive. I wonder if the Lord has placed them to witness and change the lives of those who are there to cause harm. Just maybe they are “the light of Jesus” needed for those tortured souls.
❤️
I am so thankful for my middle of the day quiet times. It is a time when my daughter takes her nap and sometimes the only time I can sit down during the day. I’m glad we have a God who we can always turn to and rely on. Happy Weekend ladies!❤️
Grace Day, Day 13, Advent 2020 Study book…Bridgette beckoned She’s to Psalm 143: 8-10:
“Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for in you do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift my soul up to you”. Whatever the weather where you are & wherever you find yourself & whatever chore in front of you & whomever the people are around you … We receive His reflection to make it sunny & bright!
I am praying for those with tornado damage and loss as well Churchmouse. I have family on both sides of the area hit, my dad and wife live in Central City, Kentucky. Praise God they only got bad thunderstorms.
@Traci- I was riding my bike this morning, singing and praising to music as usual, and Praise You in the Storm came on by Casting Crowns (one of my all time favs), and I just had to stop and pray for you. The inspiration (so I have heard) was a family with a girl going through cancer, and she did not make it, but the family still kept praising God. I’m sure many and many can attest to how special that song is, but my heart aches for your loss, and the other mothers that have lost. Also, for you Martha Hix, and Victoria that lost this year. We have two neighbors (that I don’t personally know) that have lost a spouse this year. I have been wanting to put a card in their mailbox but keep forgetting or putting it off. I am going to make a point to do that today.
Have a good wkd! Love you all so much. Many of us have been here daily for years, but it seems much more personal relationships this past year. I have said before as much as I’m not a big fan of facebook, there is the SRT page, and would be nice to be a little more connected on there to each other? Let me know if you are on there and shout out! I know you are Pam, but haven’t seen you lately on IG!
Welcome Vicki! I am a physician and while I no longer work in a hospital setting I hear from my colleagues who do the strain of the past 2 years. So glad to see you here
Here in Alabama my husband and I are celebrating Christmas with our daughter, son in law and granddaughter Hannah. The Christmas tree lights shine brightly and there’s sunshine coming through the windows. All is calm. All is bright.
But,
there are many who are waking today to toppled Christmas trees, shattered homes and businesses, injuries and death of loved ones, friends and neighbors. All is not calm. All is not bright.
But God,
mobilize an army of your people to be Your hands and feet, bringing light to that darkness. Let many come to sort and salvage, to rescue and restore. Let those who live far away come close with supplies and food, for we can all be family to those who are hurting and in need. Send Your counselors to comfort and encourage, bringing Your light of hope. Let others see our love and be drawn to You. Let us weep with those who weep and mourn with those who mourn. Let us pray for them. Let us do for them. May we not pass over this opportunity to be the good Samaritan. To You be the glory. Amen.
@KarenYingling May your days be filled with the warmth and light of Jesus. He is with you surrounding you and your father with deep love. Know that you are not alone. Lean into this time with all fullness of grace. Holiday lights are shinning in your heart and you will hold this time, although difficult, close to your soul.
Happy Grace Day. So grateful for the regular reminders from SRT to slow down, reflect, and bask in this season of Advent.
Thank you for this wonderful reference to Jude. It is a beautiful reminder that we need to be the light in a dark world .
@SarahAdams yes! Truly enjoying the beauty of the snow. I found myself giggling like a child as I tried to navigate walking through it this morning. So much snow, so beautiful in the early morning light.
God bless you all dear sisters on this beautiful Saturday. Grace abounds.
Pause & Breathe!
Searching, praising God with you! May your fight and the resolution, give them conviction and reasons to do what’s right in the future as well as right past wrongs with others, in Jesus name I pray. Kristen, love what you shared! thank you! Dorothy, praying for your soon to be DIL and her sweet Mom. May God give her healing and relief from her pain. Hoping she can feel a part of this special time through facetime or pictures. Praying His joy for all of you in the preparation, shopping and wedding. May God deeply bless it all. Time is flying by Sisters, 2022 will soon be here, praying for time to be still and be thankful for all the ways He has answered prayer, provided, strengthened, and held me in this past year and I am so very thankful, that I was never alone. And grateful for this ministry and you dear Sisters, what a gift in my sometimes really difficult days to read your words, what blessings are shared here. How good to pray with and share with and glean from all our God is doing in your hearts and lives. To our King be all glory and honor and praise. His Amazing Love to you all this day may it be multiplied as you share it with others, because that is what our Lord Jesus love does.
❤️
Grateful for each one of you as you reflect God’s light through what you share in SRT community. You are the twinkling lights I look at each morning as there is no time or energy for me to get out Christmas lights in my own home. Last 7 weeks my 90 year old dad went from independent apartment living to needing me to navigate him through hospital, failed rehab, and now hospice care. This began 2 days after I had foot surgery on all 5 toes while trying to maintain full time job.
The testimonies you share, scriptures you point out, and prayers you freely give, encourage and strengthen me in these dark days. Thank you.
❤️
“Grace Day” – today and everyday, God extends His amazing grace – hallelujah! Happy grace day to all my SRT sisters!
@Vicki – welcome! It’s always a joy to meet new sisters!
@Searching – praise the Lord for God’s long awaited answer!!
Searching, my sinus infection is getting better, thanks for asking.
Vicki Loucks, welcome and you will find there are several nurses in this community, my self included.
Sarah Adams, I like snow but you can keep it until after the 21st of the month.
Awed by God’s goodness. I struggled to get through Numbers in reading through the Bible. But JESUS is in Numbers! “A star will come from Jacob and a scepter will arise from Israel.”
This morning’s Grace Day brought me to Jude. A book I’ve always overlooked. But man, do those 24 verses sure pack a punch. I have the SRT Bible, and the devotional along with Jude was so fitting for today. “God’s ability to protect us, hold us up, cleanse us from sin, and fill us with joy stands in stark contrast to the darkness around us.”
“But you, dear friends, as you build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting expectantly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life. Have mercy on those who waver; save others by snatching them from the fire; have mercy on others but with fear, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. Now to him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of his glory, without blemish and with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever. Amen.”
Jude 1:20-25 CSB

Enjoying the quiet peacefulness of nearly 12 inches of overnight snow here in Minnesota. ❄️
Reading about stars always reminds of Finley, the little girl I take care, and how she points up to the sky and then puts both of her thumbs together and both of her forefingers together to try to make a star whenever she hears the word. I’ll sing to her at night when I rock her and lately I’ve been singing Christmas carols so a couple of times when I’ve sung “Away In a Manager” and get to where it says, “The stars in the sky look down where He lay,” she will do that even though she’s supposed to be still.
Up early today b/c I’m going shopping with my future d-i-l (yes, I’ve called her my d-i-l in the past — maybe — that’s b/c they’ve been together so long) for her wedding dress. My son and she are getting married on the 21st of the month. Yes, it’s short notice but they had planned on getting married in 2020 but we all know why that didn’t happen. You ask why such short notice well what they told me two reasons, Daniale’s (my future d-i-l) mom has cancer and it’s gotten worse and the night before Thanksgiving a very good friend of theirs passed away suddenly (he was their age — late thirties).
Daniale’s mom, Carole, just got out of the hospital and is in a lot of pain, please pray for her. She won’t be coming with us b/c of this.
Also, sisters my son and future d-i-l and I live in the heart of the Midwest, so please prayer for nice weather on December 21st b/c the wedding will be outside on the 10 acre lot.
Loved today’s verse. Sisters be blessed and let’s be bright shining stars for Jesus and remember He is the reason for the season.
Welcome, Vicki! I’m also in Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. We had lightning and thunderstorms last night. The wind advisory kicks in later today. During the storms, I thought of God’s power. My pastor talked about the vastness of God’s creation and His power. He was talking about all these statistics about the galaxies, stars, and light years, that are beyond my comprehension lol!He tried to illustrate the hollow of His hand and referenced Isaiah 40:12
“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?”
Isaiah 40:12 NIV
He was talking about how astounding God is and yet He is mindful of us.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”
Psalms 8:3-4 NIV
He talked about how His Presence when we worship. Worship time can definitely turn into something about us if we let it. Then, instead of preaching a long message, there was praise and worship.
May all of our worship please and be acceptable Him!
Have a great day!
Good morning, Vicki. Welcome to SRT. I agree – So blessed to spend time in the Word each day with this amazing community.
I took the quiet time surrounded by my Christmas lights and before the house awakes to read through the genealogy pages in the devotional book – what an incredible resource. Thank you SRT for this beautiful explanation of the line of Jesus!
Praying for these needs and in agreement with what you wrote@ Pamela Randolph “I pray people will turn to the Lord and the veil be removed from their hearts and their minds in Jesus name!”
Amen!
Great news@Searching!
Please keep us posted@ Tara
@SarahJoy Thank you for sharing!
Prayers for protection, peace, and joy for all today. Amen!
Good morning ftom the wiuet goodness of Philadelphia, PA. A lit tree, some tea, and truly taking in the grace of the advent season.
Enjoying some quiet time on a windy Pennsylvania morning. I just want to say how blessed I’ve been with this study. I stumbled into She Reads Truth a few weeks ago and have been so happily surprised by what I’ve found. As a nurse leader still working through this pandemic I so needed reminded of the Light! Looking forward to learning more about all of you and sharing this love of Jesus with a dark world! ❤️
I had to catch up on my reading today. I had been glancing at each days scripture but not really meditating and contemplating and seeking God in them. Then today wow! Moses is veiled face means more to me today than it ever did in the past! I thank God for renting the veil from top to bottom! I pray people will turn to the Lord and the veil be removed from their hearts and their minds in Jesus name!
Happy grace day! Praying for you all. This advent has been so beautiful.
After a full week, the quiet of the morning is a welcome moment. Today will not allow for this reflection time to last hours. In this moment before a day filled with less stress and more enjoyable choices, I pause. Our humble little tree twinkles in my view and special treasures from loved ones surround me mixed in the decor.
Inhale grace
Exhale praise.

KENZIE REVELL – how is your grandmother?
Praying for the many requests that the Light of the Lord would shine brightly in each situation
Embracing grace today! Please pray for my community I am doing this study with! We meet again tomorrow – please pray that the light and love of The Lord will shine bright and move as we reflect on the weeks discoveries.
Praying for mentioned needs, especially that the anxiety, stress and depression would be lifted.
A praise report – for several months my husband and I have been in a time consuming and exhausting battle with a large company that notified us that a costly order would not be filled and then refused to return our money. Hours upon hours on the phone with them, many letters written and complaints filed. Every day my prayer was Lord, let this be the day they step up and do what’s right. Yesterday was the day! Thank you Lord! I ask for Your wisdom to make wise choices in the future.
Go with grace today!
Go with grace today!!!
