Women in the Word

You guys, it’s just not about us.

We’ve gotten our first glimpses of the real, live, almost-in-the-app-store app. And we literally clapped and cried when we saw it!

We’ve been sending out mugs and journals and t-shirts and study packs for over a month now, and we love praying your names as we print your labels and seeing Instagrams of your happy mail days.

Our writing team has a pretty solid plan of what we’ll be studying and writing about into 2015, and we’re praying even now that the Lord will go ahead of us and that His timing will be perfect.

But all of that—the app, the pretty mugs and study packs, and even the devotional writing—none of that is about us. Or at least, it shouldn’t be!

You see, very early in the young life of She Reads Truth, while our Kacia and Jessi were still with us, we agreed on a mission statement. Even though She Reads Truth was nobody’s plan (well, it was Somebody’s plan), and even though it seemed to originate and grow in spite of us, we knew we’d need a guiding mission for our little ministry, and if we could distill it down into four little words, it was simply this:

Women in the Word.

We write devotionals as a response to God’s Word, and as a way to facilitate interaction with it.

We sell pretty study packs as a means of physical accountability and record keeping—so we can say “God met me here.”

We send out t-shirts and mugs and journals and decals so that you can easily share your passion with your friends, and so that we can financially sustain our mission.

And we are building a number of Bible + devotional apps that we pray will reach many more women with free and ready access to God’s word, and as a tool for convenient further study.

Not only did we find our simple mission, but the Lord also gave us a verse that speaks to the heart of it. When we say we read “truth”, we mean it with all of our hearts because we believe Luke 1:37 with unswerving surety:

“For no word from God will ever fail.”

Our sweet, awesome, ridiculously inspiring sisters, it is with that mission and this assurance from God that we celebrate today the 2-year anniversary of the She Reads Truth community!

It is not about us. Though this community (you all!) certainly drives us.
It’s not about us. Though we are indeed a changed people. (can I get an amen?)
It’s not about us—it is about the Holy Spirit working in us through His word.
And that is worth celebrating!!!

Girls, we have two happy ways to celebrate our anniversary with you this week!

  • First, we’d love for you to take our annual community survey. It’s quick, 10-questions, multiple choice, and a really practical way for us to know who you are! We want to hear from the college students and the grandmothers, the mamas and the singles! We want to know your season and your culture. We want to know you so that we can speak to YOU!
  • And second, we just have a happy little printable gift for you—an anniversary present! It is, of course, Luke 1:37. Please enjoy—our treat! (Some of you have a gorgeous print of this verse from our Kickstarter campaign, but these words are SO important to our community, we wanted all of you —tens of thousands of you!—to have them for your walls, too!)

Happy Anniversary SRT!!! I found this awesome site through YouVersion almost a little over a year ago. I never clicked on the link to join in on the conversation until about 6 months ago and I'm so glad I did! This ministry has blessed my bones! The devotions are amazing and the community feedback is the icing on the cake. I would love it if a meet up of some sort could be established. I need to meet you ladies in person. Thank you SRT Leadership Team for your dedication and commitment to Jesus' Great Commission. May the Lord increase your territory and overflow your store houses. Much Love! xoxo

    1. So glad you’re here, Steph!!

Congratulation SRT team. You are all very much appreciated, and I pray God's continued guidance over you as you work out this next years study.

My first study began June 2013, and I've been activly following along ever since. This was a fast year! A very well fed year. Spiritually I've stretched and opened my heart to adjustments that the Lord had for me. It's been an exciting time.

Congratulations to the the She Reads Truth leaders! Your ministry has been a blessing to my life. I have to be honest and say I peaked at the email about the anniversary during church service today and did a little happy dance. Then thanked our Father for His awesome hand in this!
