Put the verse to a tune!! I still remember verses from high school because of that trick :)
I like to attach a picture to the verse being memorized,
then I can bring up a mental picture and remeber the text stuck to it
I memorize verses best via sign language; it's through signing that I get to the nitty-gritty of what the verse(s) mean(s) conceptually as well.
