Acts 13:17–23

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.

Test your memory by saying Acts 13:17–23 from memory aloud, reflecting on all you have learned in your study of the Old Testament.

17 The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors, made the people prosper during their stay in the land of Egypt, and led them out of it with a mighty arm. 18 And for about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness; 19 and after destroying seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance. 20 This all took about 450 years. After this, he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. 21 Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 After removing him, he raised up David as their king and testified about him, “I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my own heart, who will carry out all my will.” 23 From this man’s descendants, as he promised, God brought to Israel the Savior, Jesus.

Six, seven weeks we have pounded away at these words, building on top of each to see, over the weeks how and why GOD, through the ages loved on each and every generation, from the beginning of time!
He never stopped, always hopeful that we would find Him, turn to Him, trust Him, believe in Him, look to Him. He has never changed, NEVER!
450 years and 40 years, plus,
    14 generations.
Never changing, always the same ..
He gave us Jesus, pure and true, from a line of sinners, adulterers, murderers, to show us how much He loved us, His people, Jesus died for us, our sins, our wrecklessness, our wanderings, He covered us, He was our ticket to a perfect life with our Father God, He bought our freedom from all that held us prisoner, slaves. He freed us..
    .
And today, in my day, my time, my lifetime He is no different, He has always wanted the best for His creation, His people, His loves!
We are the loves of His life, and though we are not perfect, He works to bring us closer to Him.
I pray that these past weeks have opened, for sure, my heart and eyes, to truly understand what Father GOD wouldn’t do to keep me/us His. I may have struggled to learn the verses, but I understood them every word..
Thank you Father God for loving us so much to the point of giving us your Son, as promised, to bring us the Hope, we, the people have so longed for.. Thank you, Lord God, Thank you..
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
    AMEN.
    .
Happy Sunday, you beauties. Be blessed whatever your day looks like.
    much love.❤️

    2. Rhonda J says:

Yes! So PROFOUND! So many people just don’t study the Bible….the WORD. You just can’t fathom how good his word is. ” We simply can’t only go to church 1x a week, and get it! It is daily diligence to spend time With Him, In Him, To Him in the old testament, as well as the new! It is great value for us to grow, continuing sanctification and transformation.
Every day we need his manna, his living water, his direction and guidance. And WE must be willing to die for him daily…giving us ourselves, our daily “to do list,” our relationships…our loved ones if need be, our social media..
sorry, going into preaching mode again…!

I rarely memorize the scripture that correlates with our current reading plan, but decided to memorize Acts 13:17-23. I’m glad I did. I love being able to recount Israel’s history. Have a blessed Sunday, sisters❤️

    2. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, His word in valuable, and to be forever on our lips. We must keep being diligent to put the word in our hearts, soul and mind! Give us the ability Lord. We put so much more in us everyday from news, social media endless scrolling and other peoples words, conversations and comments…help us to put that away. I have an app on my phone called “Bible Memorization” with a little red Bible and I have been adding scripture for 2 or 3 years now. I, like everyone else say I am horrible at memorizing, but this puts the verse and you memorize the first letter of every word. Then it takes away words. Then it takes away the whole thing and you put the first letter. It works. Then when I’m on social media…I’m, like, nope!! Go to the other app and start saying scripture!! We go to what’s important to us…even if we think it is just wasting time…spend that time memorizing scripture!! Then we have it stored and it pops out all the time in your need and others need.

Thank you Jane K for ALL your prayers and comments to me over the last 2 weeks, they meant so much! I love you! (heart)

        “Bible Memory”

    3. B says:

Kudos for memorizing this loooong passage!
I usually work on the memory verse but saw the length and was intimidated and lazy. :/ I have read it through every week to at least try to get the gist of it in my head.

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Agreed B! Just learning the Beatitudes was a challenge, this was a quick “never could” for me! BUT–remember back in the day when you (people) shucked corn or washed laundry…you would memorize the word, Psalms, and songs. IF ONLY that was a priority today. I am truly going to work on it with more vigor. The app I posted helps..or writing them out repeatedly.

May Peter’s words be our praise today:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for [us]” (1Pet1:3-4).

That was a memory verse in a study within the last few years. Sadly I don’t think I can recite it, but it always stands out to me when it comes up and I can at least speak along with it.
