Acts 13:17

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.

As we look at the Old Testament together, we’ll commit Acts 13:17–23 to memory. In this sermon, the apostle Paul gave a short summary of Israel’s history to show how God has always loved and provided for His people. As followers of Jesus, this passage reminds us of God’s grace toward us—that this same love and provision on display in the Old Testament is our story too.

We’ll memorize this passage one short section at a time, starting this week with verse 17.

17 The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors, made the people prosper during their stay in the land of Egypt, and led them out of it with a mighty arm. 18 And for about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness; 19 and after destroying seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance. 20 This all took about 450 years. After this, he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. 21 Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 After removing him, he raised up David as their king and testified about him, “I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my own heart, who will carry out all my will.” 23 From this man’s descendants, as he promised, God brought to Israel the Savior, Jesus.

The hospital called yesterday and canceled my knee surgery for today because the insurance had not approved it yet. About an hour later, it was approved and I’m now scheduled for June 11. Very frustrating. I appreciate all your prayers so much! And even when I don’t comment, I pray for all requests as I read them.

Chosen. Prospered. Raised up. Gave. Leas with an outstretched arm. This is the mighty, faithful God we serve. May thanksgiving, praise and joy be on our lips as we have opportunity to gather in worship today and may the cares, worries and anxieties we carry be left at His feet and our hearts encouraged. Sunday Blessings❤️

    GM!
I love how we can look back and see that God is working, but on the big time scale. Nothing is just instant. Just like our life, we travel down a path of ups and downs, ins and outs. It is a journey, our walk has purpose with sadness, joy, wins and loses, closed doors (slamming often in our face) and then victories. God moving all the pieces on the big scale and little scale. It’s so profound to think about.
So doesn’t that make me surrender and trust him with every step?! It seems to take older years sometimes to finally assess this and realize it. “Still Waters” playing that says it well..
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
By His still Waters I am safe! His goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life!
Lord keep my faith strong and steadfast. Keep those roots growing even deeper, so if I bend I won’t break. Your purpose and plans for me are good and well, let me surrender my stubbornness and pride, to you, my God, my Father, my friend. My Savior! The God of Creation, the God of the stars in the sky, loves and watches over us. Be with all the She’s, hear our prayers, and comfort and guide us through the valleys and desserts, and the climb up the mountains! Amen.
Have a good day. Keep praying for the young (23) butterfly mom that lost 2 young daughters. I heard back from her and she enjoyed class and has a bible and said she did not have a relationship with Jesus, but now, she has been praying and reading the Bible! Praise God!
