Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.
We have been working to memorize the key passage, James 1:2–4. Let’s add verse 4, which points us to the effect of faithful endurance in our lives.
2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
—James 1:2–4

Would anyone else benefit from having the memory verse(es) for a study to be presented in the plan summary? It would give us a little more time during the plan to memorize… :)
Is there a way to suggest this to SRT?
I almost have it down. I went down a rabbit hole for a few minutes. I found this version in my Holy Bible catholic version is it a specific translation?
This is CSB.
Karen, most of the verses I have memorized are in the NIV because that’s the version most used back in my younger years. I find the phrasing in CSB challenging to memorize – for my elderly brain!
I so agree, Cee Gee. I thought maybe it was just me. Does that age us??
Yep!!!
Well said Searching! Many years ago I recall someone saying to me, that the trail I was going through (I was in my early 20′) would someday help someone else. It was true! SO true. So as I continue to age, I will allow myself, v4..”And let endurance have its full effect, so that you (I) may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.” Trusting my JESUS in this current unknown that MY JESUS knows best and MOST of all, HE already knows the outcome! AND continues to be GOOD. NOW that’s my God!!! Happy Sunday sweeties! Didn’t sleep well and unsure if I should stay home to rest and try to sleep. I’m exhausted! I’m thinking I’ve had too much stimulation these last two nights with Alyssa’s graduation that ended late and then we had another late night last night celebrating her even though it was simple. I sometimes feel like a little kid that gets overly stimulated and can’t sleep! LOL!!! Love you all SO much and thank you again for your sweet wishes for my girl!
❤
Amen
I for the very first time have memorized the verses!!! If you need help memorizing them, the Bible Memory app is amazing!
Good to know! I can’t remember no matter how hard I try.
I use the app as well! Which is nice, that you can go back and keep retaining already memorized ones! That’s my main problem…retaining!
Different translations I looked at used endurance, as the SRT preferred translation does, while others used perseverance or patience – all good. When we are going through trials, our faith is aways being tested. Are we leaning on the Lord, His comfort and guidance?
Are we going through the trial seeking to understand and see what God’s purpose could possibly be? Are we looking at it as a learning experience? As an unbelievably difficult time in our lives that God is walking through with us, that we may be able to encourage someone later on about God’s faithfulness through it?
.
Or are we looking elsewhere for a way to escape that draws us away from God? Are we shaking our fists, putting all the blame on God, refusing to pray, refusing to lean, refusing to learn, carrying anger with us?
.
I’ve done both, and trusting the Lord, seeking His path – that’s for sure the best and most straightforward way through whatever we are facing. Otherwise we may find ourselves like the children of Israel, wandering for years.
Great questions to ponder, Searching!❤️
Great encouragement as always, SEARCHING! ❤ Made me think of “Footprints in the Sand”.
Testing = endurance. Endurance = maturity and completion. Complete and lacking nothing. Only by God’s grace.
Thank You Father for calling me to salvation, for making a way by the blood of Christ, for me to have an intimate relationship with You. To God be the glory.

@Rhonda & @Cee Gee, thank you for yesterday’s comments.

May each of you receive a blessing as you worship today, and for those of you who can not get out to worship in person because you are caregivers, or sick – a double blessing! ❤️❤️❤️
❤❤
Psalm 35:9 “Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord and delight in His salvation!
But first:
Trials and hardships, valleys, desserts. Fire, pits, lions, prison, giants, and storms. Persecution, backlash, sickness, loss.
It’s funny how we are aghast and befuddled when we have problems and issues knowing that it’s all part of life. But pridefully or just on cruise control we are stopped in our tracks. Or maybe we seem to have nothing BUT problem after problem.
Thankfully the Bible is full of stories that we can know that God was with all his children and is with us just the same. Working everything out for the good of his plan. He is the Same God! Yesterday, TODAY, and tomorrow!
That is our confidence! Praise God! We are held in his hand! The most mighty God of the universe sees our lives, knows us intimately and is finishing our faith to make us who He wants us to be. Trust and obey…there’s no other way.
But we are better together in our faith. We can tell our testimonies, we can edify and strengthen, and we can pray and intercede for each other.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.R
Amen! ❤️

Romans 12:12 NIV- Biblegateway verse of the day!
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
.
Philippians 1:6 NIV
… being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
.
Love, hugs, and prayers! Let’s block out distractions and worship Him with our whole being today. ❤
I just read/saw Romans 12:12 on my digital photo frame right before I started reading today’s verse and I thought that goes perfectly. :)
A few SHES latched on to that verse this week so I thought it a timely reminder. ❤
Amen! This was one of the scriptures I had to memorize for Bible class in high school. I often find myself meditating on it now!
❤
“LET endurance have its full effect”
.
So I need to yield to the work that God is doing in the trial. I cannot short circuit the process or believe the lie that I don’t need my faith made stronger.
.
Encourage one another as you gather with your local church in worship today. Have ears to hear what the Spirit says.
Exactly, Kelly! Thank you for expressing that wisdom today. ❤
❤️
AMen. It’s hard but it is good! And God is always with us!
❤
And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

My little great grandsons favorite book at the moment is ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’
He loves that book!
Our play on any given day is bear hunt related..
From, “it’s a beautiful day” to “We’re not scared” to “We’re can’t go over it” to “We can’t go under it” to “Nana, we have to GO THROUGH IT”
.
Ain’t that the truth little one!
.
Life is not as idyllic as we imagine, or as perfect as we hope, but there is a certainty that we will endure something or other in our lives, loss, illness, brutal truths, dreams lost.
.
BUT GOD…
.
He teaches us to endure our trials by walking alongside us every minute of everyday in our trial. He never leaves us, He never forsaken us, He goes through it with us..
When we look back on that trial, however long that might take, we find we have arrived at a place, yes, to quote James, ‘a place of maturity and completion, (absolutely) lacking nothing’
.
Endurance is a BIG word, and to be honest, I would rather not endure anything, but as Jesus said, “In this life you WILL have trouble, tribulations, (you will have to endure), but take heart, I have overcome the world”
It’s coming, whether we like it or not, so going through it to come out the other side mature and complete, with God at your side, for sure is a wonder- filled options.
.
Amen.

Happy Sunday, covered in love from across the pond..❤️
Amen, Tina, we will endure! My grandson loves, “We’re Going Ona Bear Hunt,” too. For now on I will have a new perspective while reading or listening to this story. We definitely have to go through it, so let’s come out mature and complete.
Such a great comparison, Tina; thank you for sharing that sweet visual! ❤
Who knew?! What a great book for this verse for kids! I think that book has been around forever!
❤️
Amen!…Not only does He go through it with us, when it gets to tough – He carries us! ❤️
An old song popped into my mind after reading these comments. Check out “He Will Carry You” by Scott Wesley Brown.
