Psalm 114:1-8

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.

Each Sunday during this plan, we are reading a different Hallel psalm and memorizing one of its verses.

This week, memorize Psalm 114:7 as you meditate on the psalm as a whole.

Totally unrelated, but I hadn’t considered it before really. The temple curtain that tore in two when Jesus died was reportedly INCHES thick! The fact that it was torn when Jesus died is huge!

  6. Adrienne says:

Matt update… they are hoping to release him to a care facility within the next coupla weeks. He keeps having things that randomly “pop up” that wouldn’t be as big a deal for a healthy person. We are told that he is “skin and bones” currently. Please keep him in your prayers. (I know you have been, but keep them coming!)

The earth and all of nature looks to the Lord for its command. All of nature reveres the Lord as the most High – who He truly is.

    God is on the throne!

“Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord,..” Watching the sunrise here in sunny California (NorCal). There is something about watching the sunrise and feeling the presence of the LORD. I know He is here. I love/loved how each sunrise gave/gives me hope for a “new” day. Happy Sunday sweet She’s.

Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, Psalm 114:7

I’m not sure that in my mind I can fully imagine the true power, strength and far reaching complete control of our Almighty Lord.

From my ESV study notes: “This hymn of praise celebrates the special status of God’s people in his plan;the Lord is the One whom all nature obeys and even trembles before and yet he has chosen little Israel to be his own and exerts his power on their behalf. The imagery conveys how powerful the Lord is; even the strongest natural forces would not dream of resisting him. However, the events of the Psalm are not simply displays of raw power:God uses his power for the sake of his people.”

He reigns above it all and is in control of all things on heaven and earth and His might and power are there to show us his care. He deserves all of my(our) praise, adoration and a right heart before Him.

Sunday Blessings SRT sisters. May praise for our Almighty God be on our lips as we have opportunity to gather in community and to lift voices in song today. He is worthy of it all❤️

      Amen

I love how you just conveyed that…as far as how huge and big the whole world and beyond…yet,….ISRAEL, this little place the size of New Jersey, was his chosen people, the apple of his eye. And we are told, all the Jews, after being scattered, will come back to their homeland, and when all eyes come back to this place, we better be ready. I’m ready! Things are happening faster and faster. Crazy. But it gives me an intensity to tell of Jesus! That we too, are his Chosen, grafted in. Hallelujah!!

    .
It is hard to fathom the glory, majesty and power of Almighty God. The all powerful One. He deserves the glory, He alone is worthy.
    .
As I write I am listening to “Worthy Of It All” by Shane and Shane. I try to picture the scene – angels bowing before the throne of the only God who is worthy of it all.
    .
    All the saints and angels
    They bow before Your throne
All the elders cast their crowns
Before the Lamb of God and sing
You are worthy of it all
You are worthy of it all
For from You are all things
And to You are all things
    You deserve the glory
    All the saints and angels
    They bow before Your throne
All the elders cast their crowns
Before the Lamb of God and sing
You are worthy of it all
You are worthy of it all
For from You are all things
And to You are all things
    You deserve the glory
You are worthy of it all
You are worthy of it all
For from You are all things
And to You are all things
    You deserve the glory
Day and night, night and day, let incense rise
Day and night, night and day, let incense rise
Day and night, night and day, let incense rise
Day and night, night and day, let incense rise
Day and night, night and day, let incense rise
Day and night, night and day, let incense rise
Day and night, night and day, let incense rise
Day and night, night and day, let incense rise
You are worthy of it all
You are worthy of it all
For from You are all things
And to You are all things
    You deserve the glory
You are worthy of it all
You are worthy of it all

Please pray for our service – today my husband is baptizing two young adults. There will be many unsaved visitors that they have invited. May the power of the Holy Spirit be at work, calling souls to salvation!

Also please pray for my mother in law who is in the hospital with water on the lungs, and very anxious. She is not a believer.

@Melissa Vandive – praying for your husband as he preaches today.
@Wendy B – praying for your mom, that doctors will find the cause of her pain and she will have relief. Praise God that you inlaws are settling in well to their new living space.

    Have a blessed Lord’s day! ❤️

    1. Wendy B says:

      Amen. Great song share, Sharon.

Have prayed for your service today. How exciting to have young people baptized. May it bring great encouragement and blessing to all and a stirring in the hearts for a longing and desire for Jesus for all who are there.

      1. Wendy B says:

        And, thank you, Sharon ❤️

    2. Rhonda J. says:

      Praying for your mom Wendy!

  14. Searching says:

    BG verses today Psalm 73:25-26
Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
    My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
    .
Coming to mind, a throwback chorus, Dave Moody, 1981, All Hail King Jesus

    1. Wendy B says:

I envision hearing a powerful, choir version of this hymn as you mention it. Great song ❤️

  15. Cheryl Blow says:

In everything that I’ve read in my devotions, I’m reminded that God is in control. I’m reminded of His faithfulness to us.

Praying for all who are affected by the events of this week and weekend! And for protection for our soldiers and the innocent and all.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.””
    ‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭ESV‬‬

  16. Rhonda J. says:

“You who fear the Lord, trust the Lord! He is their help and shield.” Psalm 115:11

Our help and shield. Our fortress. Our steadfast hope and faith!

“O Praise the name of the Lord our God..oh praise his name forever more.
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord oh Lord our God” -song by Bethel.
Great for Lent! Let’s start at the beginning..

I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet
My Saviour on that cursed tree
His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph’s tomb
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
    Messiah still and all alone

God provided water to the thirsty then, and Jesus gave living water to those who trusted and followed him, and now the living Holy Spirit gives us flowing, rushing water. It covers our parched soul and Spirit, it gives all our organs regeneration, our weary soul- hydration.
He knows just what we need, when we need it. Yes, we long and thirst on our own, he lets our need turn our brokeness to him. And that is where we find rest.

It’s kinda hard to imagine not knowing where your next drink is coming from here in America. We don’t know what it’s like to walk for a mile to get water to drink, and cook with. And even now, instead of drinking fresh, pure water (what our bodies need, we drink sugar, chemical tainted liquids. Just like the idols rather than God. And our souls cry out in response, and we are sick.

Lord, help us want you, more than idols and the things made of silver and gold. Bigger houses, cars, clothes, jewels, success. They will never fulfill us in the end, only temporarily. For Christ alone, our hope is found. Living Hope.

I LOVE that Ya’ll loved the surprised cooked up between my sister and husband!! So great to have my sister and niece here! My niece loves the beach, although it was really the backdrop for an hour of poses. And we talked to my nephew (incarcerated) for about an hour last night. My back did do really well, thank you for your prayers. Happy Sunday

    1. Mari V says:

Happy Sunday sweet Rhonda! So glad your enjoying your sister and niece. The sun is rising as I type this. So beautiful! Love you friend!

  17. Cee Gee says:

From NKJV Enduting Word Study Bible
    v. 1
Israel’s deliverance from Egypt was the central act of redemption under the old covenant. It was to be constantly remembered and celebrated.
    ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
    From John MacArthur Study Bible:
This psalm is the one most explicitly related to the Exodus (Ex. 12–14). It recounts God’s response to a captive nation (Israel in Egypt) in order to honor His promises in the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 28:13–17) given to Jacob (cf. 114:1, “The house of Jacob;” 114:7, “the God of Jacob”).
    v.3
    .
Two miracles of God, i.e., separating the waters began and ended the Exodus. On the way out of Egypt, God parted the Red Sea (Ex. 14:15–31) and 40 years later He parted the Jordan River in order for the Jews to enter the Promised Land (Josh. 3:1–17).
    .
    v.4
Refers to the violent appearance of God to Israel at Sinai
    (cf. Ex. 19:18;
    .
    v. 7
The only proper response of helpless nature before omnipotent God.
    .
    v. 8
Refers to the first incident at Massah/Meribah (Ex. 17:5, 6) and/or the second (Num. 20:8–11).

    One of my favorite verses:
    Isaiah 55:12 NLT
You will live in joy and peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song, and
the trees of the field will clap their hands!

Love, hugs, and prayers SHES, and many thanks and prayers for those who put their lives on the line in service, and to their families for their sacrifice. ❤

Lord, open my eyes to see You everywhere and respond in worship.
    .
Pray, pray, pray that the Lord would have mercy on the “innocent” ones in the path of these latest developments with Iran.
    .
Praying for the Christians in Iran to be His light and love to those around them.

“The earth responds to God even if humans don’t”…yes. Isn’t that an amazing thought (and truth!)? Natural truly shows God! Cries out to him! Like CeeGee shares above- The mountains and hills will burst into song, and
the trees of the field will clap their hands! Love that!! May WE SEE his majestic glory everywhere around us! The mountains, the oceans, the trees, the butterflies.
