Psalm 113:1-9

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.

Hallel psalms, coming from the Hebrew word meaning “to praise,” are individual psalms or groups of psalms traditionally used during celebratory seasons of the Jewish calendar. While there are many Hallel psalms, Psalms 113–118 are known specifically as the “Egyptian Hallel” (a reference to Ps 114:1) and were recited, sung, or prayed in Jewish homes to commemorate the Passover.

Each Sunday during this plan, we will read a different Hallel psalm and memorize one of its verses.

This week, memorize Psalm 113:3 as you meditate on the psalm as a whole.

  20. Wendy B says:

From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the Lord be praised. Psalm 113:3

Amen! I love this verse – its quite simple in word but so all encompassing in thought. From beginning to end of day, we can give praise to the Lord for all he has done. His presence, His faithfulness, His provision, His care, His hand at work.
I often think of Psalm 118:24 in the same way and the blessing of just a new day in itself. ‘This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.’

All praise to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sunday Blessings SRT sisters.

Happy Birthday Rhonda! Have a wonderful day!❤️

  23. Meagan C says:

I was in my women’s Bible study this past week and it was mentioned that God does not want us to go through life without a community – without support.

The last two years before we moved to our new area, I had very few true friends, and even a few of those people ended up being part of the group of people who backstabbed my husband, which required us to relocate from home and family.

Now we have been in our new area for about 5 months and it’s been hard to find anyone I truly click with. Young moms are incredibly busy- I get that and am living that, but it just seems like friendships are just surface level in so many ways.

I long for a true community of friends that feel like family. I have had that a few times before for very short amounts of time, but life took it’s turns, college and new jobs and babies and moving changed people’s lives drastically, and now we all live far apart.

I get that that’s life, and everything is for a season, but it still hurts to feel lonely for friends who truly get and support you.

Would you please pray God would help my husband, son, and I find our community? Would you pray we can be that community for others in need? Would you pray we can find the church we belong in?

Thank you She’s for your prayers and kindness. ❤️

    1. Searching says:

Praying, Meagan for the Lord to guide you to your place (church) and your people [in addition to us :) ]
And from my experience, I have a tendency to overlook or dismiss possible friendships too quickly sometimes as being surface as you mentioned or nothing in common. On some of the occasions when I’ve reined in my impulse, I find a really good friend.

    2. April L. says:

Meagan, I was in a season for a few years without community. I had one friend I could lean on but that was it. I was so lonely but frightened about stepping out to find community. Once I get to know someone, I’m not that shy, but in the beginning I am.

Father, I lift up Meagan to you. I pray she finds a good church home, and friends. You know the stage of life that she’s in and she longs for friendship. I pray that you open doors for her and she also steps out in faith. You are a good and gracious God and you know her heart. Thank you for hearing us and our prayers.

      Amen.

    3. Rachel (CO) says:

I think friendships as an adult are so hard! The Deep Dish had a podcast on this topic that was encouraging. I also agree with Searching that sometimes sweet friendships spring up in the most unlikely of places. What’s that old axiom? “The grass is greenest where you water it”…I live in the high desert where we get very little rain. I can attest to the truth of that old saying. Water away, friend, and see what grows!

    4. Mollie says:

Yes I will be praying Meagan! ❤️

    5. Wendy B says:

My heart hurts for you on this Meagan. Adult friendships can be so difficult and some seasons more than others the loneliness can feel especially empty. I think too, that if you have had some hurt in friendships it can be especially challenging to put yourself out there. Sitting around the table at Bible study is a good start in putting yourself out there to be open to building community. Have prayed for you Meagan and that Lord would lead you to the right person/people and give you courage and openness to find community for you and your family. ❤️

    6. Cee Gee says:

Meagan, I so identify with you on so many levels- even with our age difference! My biggest piece of advice- if God nudges you to a church that has lifegroups or small groups, jump in there!
We have found “family” in our church through our lifegroup. Most of us are transplants from all over the country as this is a popular retirement area and we, like the ladies here, are very diverse in past careers, hobbies, etc., but we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We support each other through sharing, praying, and encouragement. I hope and pray the church God leads you to has that option! Your son likely would have a group as well; our church has one for children, too. Praying along (from personal experience) with you and our sisters! ❤

    7. Martha Valle Veltri says:

Meagan I will be praying for you an can identify with your longing. I recently lost several friends because of my faith and political beliefs. Refocus on the people that are still there for you and look to deepen existing connections. I hope God will place the right people in both of our lives!

    8. Adrienne says:

Will be praying, Meagan. I totally hear you. He does too. May we both remember that.

    9. Lynne from Alabama says:

Father God, may Meagan and her family find peace and community in their new home. May they find a church home that truly feels like home. Amen. ❤️

  24. Cheryl Blow says:

    Happy Birthday, Rhonda J

This verse was in a song that we used to sing at church! I love it. We also had an organist that would be playing during worship and would be so blessed, that all she could say was Hall-le-lujah! And she kept playing the whole time! Everytime she did, it was such a blessing to me!

    Praying for all!

  27. Cee Gee says:

    NKJV
From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.
    .
    NLT
    Everywhere—from east to west—
praise the name of the Lord.
    .
Our God is everywhere; He should receive praise from everywhere.
    .
Another one of my favorite verses reflects that thought:
    Isaiah 55:12 NLT-
For you shall go out with joy,
    And be led out with peace;
    The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

God gave me another new song yesterday (by one of my favorite songwriters). I hope it blesses your worship and praise today.

    Lyrics:
    Purify my heart
    Purify my heart
    Purify my heart
    With Your love

I want to be holy, holy
I want to be set apart for only You
I want to be holy, holy
So there’s less of me and more of You

    Purify my heart
    Purify my heart
    Purify my heart
    With Your love
    want to be holy, holy
I want to be set apart for only You
I want to be holy, holy
So there’s less of me and more of You
    Jesus

I want more of You, I want more of You
I want more of You, I want more of You

So there’s less of me and more of You
Less of me and more of You
Less of me and more of You

I want to be holy, holy
I want to be set apart for only You
I want to be holy, holy
So there’s less of me and more of You

      PARTIAL LYRICS:
From the rising of the sun, to the going down of the same
Let the name of the Lord be praised
      Both now and Forevermore
All of heaven and earth proclaim
Let the name of the Lord be praised

      1. B says:

Reminded me of “When Mornimg Gilds the Skies”
1 When morning gilds the sky,
        our hearts awaking cry:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
in all our work and prayer
        we ask his loving care:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
2 To God, the Word on high,
        the hosts of angels cry:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
        Let mortals too upraise
their voice in hymns of praise:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
3 Let earth’s wide circle round
        in joyful notes resound:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let air and sea and sky
        from depth to height reply:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
4 Be this, when day is past,
of all our thoughts the last:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
        The night becomes as day
when from the heart we say:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
5 Then let us join to sing
        to Christ, our loving King:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!
        Be this the eternal song
        through all the ages long:
        May Jesus Christ be praised!

  31. Kayla Bostwick says:

Doctors told us that we would never be able to have children naturally. Five failed fertility treatments and a miscarriage later, we were left broken and unsure of God’s plan for the desire to grow our family. A year after pregnancy loss, in His time and completely outside of our expectation, God chose to bless us with our little miracle. Every time we thought of her, all we could do was praise the Lord! So we named our little girl “Hallie”to commemorate our “Hallel”. Today’s passage reminds me of God’s great faithfulness in general and in my life specifically! Praise the Lord!

    1. Kelly (NEO) says:

      What a fantastic testimony!

  35. Tina says:

From the rising of the sun to its setting,

let the name of the Lord be praised.
    .
    .
This verse took me back some years, gosh did it!
    .
In the early days of my serious walk with God, I would often walk early in the morning, to the hill, on the which my girl was laid to rest, and I would talk to and sing praise songs to the Lord.
I was on a journey, and worship songs really connected me to the One who saved my soul and brought me home!
This one day, I stood, arms out singing, worshipping and just being with the Lord. I could not even tell you now the song, but I was there in the zone, I couldn’t tell you how long, but when I eventually opened my eyes, there were 5/6 cars at the bottom of the hill, parked up, and the drivers were looking up, pointing to me!
    .
I don’t tell you this in pride, I tell you this because in being reminded I realized I had not done that in a while..
So although I won’t be on the hill this cold morning, I will however be in the house, cranking up my praise today, starting I think with Hezekiah Walkers ‘Every praise is to our GOD’
    .
Every praise is to our God
Every word of worship, with one accord
    Every praise, every praise
    Is to our God
    Sing hallelujah to our God
Glory hallelujah is due our God
    Every praise, every praise
    Is to our God

    [Chorus]
Every praise is to our God
Every word of worship, with one accord
    Every praise, every praise
    Is to our God
    Sing hallelujah to our God
Glory hallelujah is due our God
    Every praise, every praise
    Is to our God

    [Bridge]
    God my Savior
    God my Healer
    God my Deliverer
Yes He is, yes He is.
    .
    YES HE IS!
    .
    BUT GOD.
    .
    AMEN..
    .
This song has set my praise high, sisters, join me. My hips are moving, my feet want to bust a move, my body is jigging, my arms are raised in praise, my heart beating with the best of the song, my soul apraising..
    .
    Sing hallelujah to our GOD..
Glory hallelujah is due our God..
    .
    Happy praising Sunday!
    .
It is well. It is indeed well. ❤❤❤

    1. Lynne from Alabama says:

    .
