Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.
As we read Acts together, we will memorize a portion of Peter’s sermon in Acts 2 given at Pentecost after Jesus’s ascension. The apostle called his audience to repent, promising the gift of the Holy Spirit to all who turn to Jesus. This week, let’s begin with the first part of verse 37.
37 When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
—Acts 2:37–39

Pierced to the heart! How that spoke to me as I listened to the teaching at church this morning, my heart was peirced as God drew me to a place of rememberance of a past sin that needed to be dealt with! so grateful for the Holy Spirit who leads us into all truths.
Is there a She Reads Truth facebook group or chat to join?
YES!!!
“SRT SHE’S”. You just need to answer a question so RHONDA J. can accept you. She genetously created that space for us!!!
I will copy and share on tomorrow’s page since it’s after midnight to be sure Rhonda sees your question. ❤
So many good shares today, especially on pierced hearts. I’ve heard this before as a convicted heart, always inflicting enough pain to demand your attention and highlight the cause.

BG verses today Psalm 118:5-6 I called on the Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

TAMI, I wrote a long response to your wonderful question. Thank you for such pondering. This is surely one of those that will push one over the threshold. However my comment was held in Moderation. I have asked dear RHONDA to post it on our FB page so you can see. Thank you TAMI and thank you RHONDA.❤️ Be blessed dear sisters. May God take you higher and higher every day in power, knowledge, and spiritual gifts.✨✨✨
Thank you Mercy!!! Your post was very helpful and I plan to purchase the book.
This week when we heard about the giving of the Holy Spirit/river of life flowing through us, this song we used to sing at church—maybe 25/30 years ago—came to mind.
✨
Shine Jesus Shine
Lord, the light of Your love is shining
In the midst of the darkness, shining
Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us
Set us free by the truth You now bring us
Shine on me, shine on me
(chorus—Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire
Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth Your word, Lord, and let there be light)
Lord, I come to Your awesome presence
From the shadows into Your radiance
By the blood, I may enter Your brightness
Search me, try me, consume all my darkness
Shine on me, shine on me
(Chorus)
As we gaze on Your kingly brightness
So our faces display Your likeness
Ever-changing from glory to glory
Mirrored here, may our lives tell Your story
Shine on me, shine on me
(Chorus)
Only one church I’ve attended sang this song often- like you a long time ago. It has always been special to me and I think of it often. So glad we share a song history! ❤
We still sing this song….I would say every 6 weeks or so and it ALWAYS brings joy to pur worship
❤
From the day we read of Peter healing the lame man—this kid’s song always comes to mind.
✨
Peter and John went to pray;
they met a lame man on the way.
He asked for alms and held out his palms,
and this is what Peter did say:
2 “Silver and gold have I none,
but what I have I give to you.
In the name of Jesus Christ
of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”
3 He went walking and jumping and praising God,
walking and jumping and praising God.
“In the name of Jesus Christ
of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
❤
37 When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
—Acts 2:37–39
Praying the Lord our God will call our children, those far off, our prodigals and the lost ASAP.
But God….His timing…
This was supposed to be a reply to CEE GEE
Oh I guess not—just a comment!
Amen, B! ❤ This reading (Acts) is a briliant display of God’s timing!
❤️✝️
Many times, I fear, when our hearts ‘are pierced’ we feel hopeless. Peter, in his ‘invitation’, is offering HOPE! That same HOPE applies to us today!!!
Are we willing to respond in sorrow and repentance when the Holy Spirit convicts us? If we are/do, we have the same HOPE!
✨
Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤
NKJV MacArthur Study Bible, 2nd Edition
cut to the heart. The Gr. word for “cut” means “pierce” or “stab,” and thus denotes something sudden and unexpected. In grief, remorse, and intense spiritual conviction, Peter’s listeners were stunned by his indictment that they had killed their Messiah.
✨
“NIV Application Bible
The third feature of apostolic preaching is a summons to respond. Peter gives two requirements and promises two blessings. His listeners, whomever they may be and wherever they may be (v. 39), must repent and be baptized, and they will receive forgiveness of their sin and experience the Holy Spirit.”

We repent; Jesus saves! ❤

Just came across this new song by Chris Tomlin.
SONG SHARE – JESUS SAVES:
Lyrics:
Jesus saves
Jesus saves
His mercy came running
When I called His name
What a wonderful savior
What a beautiful grace
I was dead now I’m alive
I testify that Jesus saves
I remember where I was
I remember all my chains
I remember all my sin You washed away
Anyone is welcome here
Anyone can be set free
Anyone who will confess and believe
He did what I could not do
He did what I could not do
Where there was no way
He made a way
Are we willing to respond in sorrow and repentance when the Holy Spirit convicts us? If we are/do, we have the same HOPE!
Hallelujah, Amen!!
Thank you for that encouragement!!❤️
Thank you, B! ❤❤❤
The words of vs 37 cause me for pause today….”when the people heard this, and were pierced to the heart… what should we do?” Do I stop enough to let the Word of Truth pierce my heart and thoughtfully ask what should I do?” Far too often my state of mind and heart is too rushed and not truly ready to receive what the Lord has for me to hear, to guide and convict my heart on and to clearly see and acknowledge my sin and seek forgiveness. I can’t see Holy Spirit work if my heart is not willing, ready and prepared to do so.
Its been a crazy week with the crisis for my inlaws last Sunday and an out of town wedding for our nephew yesterday and SO much of everything in between for all of that, it has not been easy to catch my breath. And so today, Sunday, our day of gathering with church family, of Sabbath and rest, I need to stop and ask the Lord “what shall I do?” so as to not miss the leading and conviction of Holy Spirit and to be prepared and ready to worship with hands lifted high and to receive the Truth snd teaching of the Word from our Pastor.
Heavenly Father prepare my heart and mind to have a greater understanding of you, your Truth, your Word. Speak to my heart; may it be teachable, fertile soil, ready to see both wisdom and offense and to give honor and glory to you. Amen
Thank you for your prayers. My MIL is doing ok – very tired, very little energy and resting much of the time. She is at home for now on her own with us all checking on her very frequently. My FIL is still in hospital, cognitively improving but he is physically very weak and has declined in that aspect the last few days.
Sunday Blessings She’s. Praying for your requests. Thankful for you all❤️
Wendy, After reading your beautiful personal comment, I immediately felt the need to share this song again- in case yoy missed it yesterday. I hope it blesses you as much as it did me! ❤❤❤

Thank you, Cee Gee. I did see your recommendation yesterday but with wedding things going on, I didn’t listen and so the reminder is great and I will listen now.

Happy Sunday sweet She’s! Its SO cold outside! (34 degrees). So thankful for central heat and air. Though in this old home, there’s a draft at my window, and sleep with two heavy blanket, so cozy and HARD to get out of bed at times, but I have all-of-YOU to look forward to and get up! I love how Rhonda summarized our Weekly Truth perfectly! Under the weather since last night. I did too much knowing I was not 100%. The benefits of working with littles that cough and sneeze on you. Staying home to rest and relax as I have a birthday cake to bake later to celebrate my daughter’s 20th birthday tomorrow! YEP, tomorrow my baby will no longer a teen! (sad face emoji). Please pray for health as I really need to work and want to have the energy to celebrate my daughter, Alyssa!
Praying you feel well enough to bake that cake (with flair!) and celebrate with your whole heart! ❤
Do I (we) allow God’s word to pierce my (our) heart? Is my heart open to hear God’s voice, is the fallow ground of my heart broken up and ready to receive His word? That is my prayer this morning as I prepare to worship Him with the body of believers today.
.
Father God let your word permeate my heart today and may it be prepared and ready to receive what you would have me to hear.

Happy Sunday She’s – sending love and prayers. ❤️

Good Morning She’s, Happy Sunday
Repent means to feel or express sincere regret or remorse for one’s wrongdoings AND to commit to a change in behavior or mindset.
Be baptized- Symbolizing the old is gone, with living water coming in creating a new creation!
The Holy Spirit is given to us, to help us, guide, convict–to live differently- FOR God, through Jesus!
We were separated as gentiles, never to have a way on our own–But Jesus! Now we are grafted in and can spend eternity with him, but until then, we are disciples here! Living for him and pointing others to him. Giving Him Glory!
YES!! Give Him Glory!!!
❤
Amén. I’ve spent all weekend catching up. Glad I did.
Just catching up now… what a week! I have a question about the HS. I loved Mercy’s response about first being indwelt when we accept Christ and then actually being led by the HS (paraphrasing). What about what people refer to as being “baptized in the Spirit” and speaking in tongues? I had the desire to speak in tongues for a long time and it was not happening and I kind of gave up praying for it. Is this something I “should” be praying for? The gifts of the Spirit is not something my church highlights, so I don’t have much guidance in this area. I would appreciate any thoughts:)
Good morning Tami – Mercy was right with her explanation. As soon as we by faith believe in Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us. We get ALL of the Spirit at salvation. We can as believers grieve the Holy Spirit which will cause us to not feel His power, but He is still there.
I personally have never spoken in tongues and believe as scripture says that tongues have ceased, at least the tongues spoken of in the NT.
Of those who are mentioned in scripture of speaking in tongues, it has never been said that they prayed for it, it was something God did for them at the time, He decided not those who received that gift.
.
There is a very good explanation on “What is the gift of speaking in tongues” at Got Questions dot org. here is a small exert:
At the same time, if the gift of speaking in tongues were active in the church today, it would be performed in agreement with Scripture. It would be a real and intelligible language (1 Corinthians 14:10). It would be for the purpose of communicating God’s Word with a person of another language (Acts 2:6–12). It would be exercised in the church in agreement with God’s instructions: “If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God” (1 Corinthians 14:27–28). It would also be practiced with decorum: “God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people” (1 Corinthians 14:33).

I hope this was helpful. ❤️
Tami, I used to desire the gift of tongues. But, what I really want is to feel the “rush” (I don’t know how to describe it) of the Holy Spirit. I used to feel as though something was wrong with me, (I attend an AOG church w) because I haven’t spoken in tongues. Then I read this, and became content seeking whatever Gifts the Lord wanted to gift me with.
“Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.”
1 Corinthians 14:1-5 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/1co.14.1-5.ESV read
Tami, agreeing with our sisters. I just came across this as I was reading notes on this passage.
From NKJV Spirit-Filled Life Bible:
“The gift of the Holy Spirit must be distinguished from the gifts of the Spirit (see text and notes on
Rom. 12:6–8;
1 Cor. 12:1–31;
Eph. 4:11).
The former is the Holy Spirit Himself, while the latter are special abilities granted by the Spirit to equip believers for service (see 1 Cor. 12:1–31).”
❤
Awww..thank you TAMI. I would encourage you to pray for the gift of tongues and to start speaking in tongues. You can start by saying hallelujah and asking the Spirit to give you utterance. I was taught under Andrew Wommack Ministry (Charis Bible College in Colorado Springs ) and speaking in tongues are strong. Paul in the New Testament prayed in tongues, he explicitly said this, “I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.”
— 1 Corinthians 14:18 (ESV) so it definitely has not ceased for NT believers. This is the clearest verse where Paul testifies to his personal practice of tongues. God says in Acts 2:17 — “In the last days… I will pour out my Spirit…”. There are 2 kinds of speaking in tongues, one in church as a sign to “shock” people which then needs translation (gift of understanding tongues) ask and God will give, another speaking in tongue is for personal edification, in this case tongues are addressed to God, not people (1 Corinthians 14:2). Paul did pray in tongues — explicitly stated in 1 Corinthians 14:18, and I do too. So did the powerful preacher Kenneth E Hagin, and my wonderful beloved teacher Andrew Wommack at Charis Bible College. You should read the book “Why Tongues” by Kenneth E Hagin, Ask and believe, the Lord will give you this gift as He gave mine.
.
And did you know, when God said put on the Armour of God, six pieces (belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes, shield, helmet, sword) Ephesians 6:13–17, there is the hidden SEVENTH PIECE that people often miss (99% of the time they wont say), it’s the 7th piece of weapon, 7 the number of completion, is this command… “Praying at all times IN THE SPIRIT, with all prayer and supplication” Ephesians 6:18. And hence, praying in tongues is the LAST weapon that completes the armor of God, against sickness, attacks of the enemies, etc. it will come with many other powerful manifestations and spiritual development. Explore and please read the book. You must dig and mine the Bible. If we don’t go deep enough, and challenge the capacity that God can give us, we will stay on shallow water, and if we dont challenge ourselves with greater courage leaning on Him, we wont dare to venture to deeper waters and higher grounds where true hidden power lies. Hope it helps TAMI. Blessings and love to you. May you hunger and thirst for more spiritual gifts which God gives.
Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
.
Those in Jerusalem who were drawn by the sound of the disciple speaking their own languages heard the gospel and responded in faith. May we be ready to speek the gospel at all times so that people may hear and respond.
.
Celebrate that you heard and responded in faith with yoir church family today.
Another good reminder to “know your audience” and share accordingly- in more ways than one.
Thanks, Kelly! ❤
When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart…
.
I don’t know about you, but my heart hears things before my ears. Let me explain, I have often preempted what people are going to say before they open their mouth.. example: some years ago I had worked myself up to an anxious frenzy waiting for a letter that would decide my future. Sure enough the later arrived and my heart was pierced with my fear of knowing what it would contain.. I shook as I opened it.. on reading the heading, I burst into tears, my lying truth had overcome me… until my son read it and gave me the good news that I had not even imagined..
.
As one who has a BIG fear of rejection,I sometimes believe the worst, before I hear the full story or response..
.
BUT GOD..
He pierces our hearts with truth. The Truth of who He is, and the gift of who Jesus is, our Saviour, our Redeemer, our Hope..
Praying today that my heart will be pierced in the God way, and that my eyes will be opened to the promise of long ago, when I repent of my sins..
.
Amen.
.
Happy Sunday my dears.. Much love..xx
So good. Thank you❣️
❤️
Good morning. Thank you for sharing this. :)
Amen! Thank you Tina for your words of inspiration!
I tend to “jump in” with fears or conclusions far to often. Many times when Jeff is explaining something to me I cut in to respond, to which he says, “let me finish” – when I oblige, I often learn my rash response would have been unwarranted.

Happy Sunday! ❤️
❤❤❤
And, thank you, SEARCHING, for the note to Cee Gee. I am just now catching up and saw your mention of my request to her.
Thank you, CEE GEE, for your response on John 4:6. My notes had a typo and said 6PM, which really threw me. (Was at a small group study, and I saw those notes.) 6AM still varies with what I know… always “knew” about noontime…. in the heat of the day. But 6AM is better than 6PM!
.
Prayers for your personal issues… whatever they may be. ❤️
.
No news on Matt today. Keep praying, sweet She’s. Thanks.
.
And, yes, you all see that I am having trouble sleeping. (It is close to 2AM, central. I laid in bed quite a while, before deciding to get out of bed! Ugh!) Please pray about that too, sweet She’s. I have been struggling again with this.
dear Adrienne, I do hope and pray you have managed to get to sleep. It truly is not the best to be lying awake, much as you want to sleep!!!
At least you get to be the first to comment!❤️
So sorry about your sleeplessness. Praying.
Praying for Matt and your sleeping in the name of Jesus ❤️
Praying for better sleep and for Matt!
Praying for some sweet sleep for you
So sorry that you are unable to sleep. There is a superpatch – that is doctor approved that is said to help with sleep. You can find information if you google “super patch for aches and pains” and then find the one for sleep – it would be worth a try.
Prayers that tonight you will find rest and sleep.
You are most welcome, Adrienne! I have mived past the sleep issue I had for awhile, thankfully! I pray you will move past this, too.
How did your husband’s appt. go? Sorry if I missed an earlier uodate!
