John 1:2

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize John 1:2. In this verse John reaffirms that Jesus is God by proclaiming that He has always existed. His life did not begin at His birth on earth, but instead He has always been present as God, even at creation.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.
—John 1:1–5

WISH y’all could see how gorgeous it is up hear! It’s quiet, can hear the birds singing, water flowing somewhere, a bit cold, but not too cold. Thanking my Jesus for this wonderful weekend to celebrate with my sweet friend and her family, WHO have become mine and my kids second family, and be a part of this next chapter in their lives. Thankful for THE WORD…”HE (JESUS) was with God in the beginning.” AND here we (SRT) are joining from many places all-over-the-world. This is when I’m grateful for WiFi (internet) and can join my sweet SRT sisters from where I am. I was so grateful to see my son’s youth pastor who officiated the wedding for the groom! AND the speech my son gave….WOW…”pursue each other and pursue JESUS!” Happy Sunday morning from Nevada City!

ETERNAL, INFINITE- NO beginning and NO end.
    .
    From NIV Women’s Study Bible
Jesus Christ has always existed and will exist eternally. He is the living Word. Jesus and God the Father, along with the Holy Spirit, have always had an intimate relationship as the triune God. Jesus is God who took on a human body and nature in order to redeem mankind.
    .
    From Warren Wiersbe study Bible:

Much as our words reveal to others our hearts and minds, so Jesus Christ is God’s “Word” to reveal His heart and mind to us. “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (14:9). A word is composed of letters, and Jesus Christ is “Alpha and Omega” (Rev. 1:8), the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. According to Hebrews 1:1–3, Jesus Christ is God’s last Word to mankind, for He is the climax of divine revelation.
Holy Holy Holy (hymn) comes to mind:
“Who was and is and evermore shall be

    “with God”
    .
This just jumped out to me today. So I jumped into the good ole Dictionary and was delighted to see this as one definition of “with”:
“A function word to indicate the object of a statement of comparison or equality (for example: a dress identical with her hostess’s)”
    .
Jesus is identical with the Father.
    .
Although “with” here is being used more in the sense of: “a function word to indicate combination, accompaniment, presence, or addition” I though the other definition was fun to consider.
    .
Enough with the English grammar, right? (Ha, yet even another way to use “with”.)
    .
Philippians 2:5-7 “Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited.
    Instead he emptied himself
by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity.”
    .
May we empty ourselves in worship today so that the Lord can fill us with Himself.
    .
Lifting up your requests to the Father.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

You must of read my mind this morning. That same thing stood out to me. Thank you for expounding on it!

    2. Cee Gee says:

Great aha Kelly! I love how that happens; thanks for sharing your research!
      .
Thinking of how we humans use that word for ‘identity’ as in “I’m with him or her” to gain access where we may not have it without the company we are with. There’s the word again! End of sentence- not proper grammar, but…

“May we empty ourselves in worship today so that the Lord can fill us with Himself.”- Amen and amen! ❤

    3. Cheryl Blow says:

Thanks for sharing this KELLY(NEO)! Lord, empty me of everything that is not pleasing to you and let me pour out my praise to you today!

      Have a blessed day!

    4. Searching says:

Thank you, Kelly, for sharing your research ❤️ I don’t remember how old I was when it clicked that Jesus was part of the ‘Us’ in Genesis, but it was an eye opener.

      1. Adrienne says:

I didn’t get that until this year! Amazing how often you can read something and not SEE what it says, you know?

    5. Wendy B says:

So often we overlook things don’t we? Thank you for your insight Kelly, and in doing so, its a reminder for us to slow down and take a moment to read every word.
Yes, Lord, fill us with yourself❤️

  14. Esthera Cotoarba says:

He was in the beginning, and nothing was before Him!!!! Have a blessed week ❤️

  15. Karen Roper says:

    Amen❤️❤️

  16. Wendy B says:

All things were created through Him….thank you Lord.

Part of our drive to meet our daughter and family this weekend takes us through the rocky mountains from Alberta to BC. The trees are still wearing the stunning colors of Fall and the backdrop of the mountains is absolutely stunning. It has left me speechless and in tears countless times this trip. What a wonder God’s creation is and from the beginning His hand was in it all. What an awesome, mighty God we serve.

Thank you your prayers. All of our travels to arrive were just fine and my elderly inlaws did well. The house we rented, exactly what really worked for us all, good food, good fellowship and lots of joy with our grandson. We will leave to go home at 10 am and likely listen to the livestream for church while in the car. Sunday Blessings to you all.❤️

    1. Rhonda J. says:

That’s wonderful Wendy! I love a road trip to look at God’s beauty! Praying for a good trip home!
