Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.
During this study, we will memorize the first five verses from John’s Gospel. In his prologue, John used poetic language to describe the identity and nature of Jesus. This week we will memorize the first verse of this passage which identifies Jesus—the Word—as God Himself.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.
—John 1:1–5

Thinking of Walk With Jesus by Consumed By Fire, (written by Don Koch, Jordan David Ward, Caleb Paul Ward)
Last 1/2 of 1st verse –
I might not have all the answers
But I’ve tasted and I’ve seen
There’s a better path with Jesus
There’s no going back for me
.
John 5:23 b
He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
.
Brought to mind those who say they believe in God but not Jesus …
.
The scribes and the Pharisees, how hard their hearts were. Seeing the withered hand restored before their eyes at Jesus’ word, rage consumed them rather than awe and wonder.

SANDI – praying for sister’s friend’s husband, for non surgical solution
CEE GEE ❤️ thankful all went well and that you held up beautifully ❤️
TAMI CUTLER ❤️ the most awesome news! Praising the Lord for your husband’s willingness to take the course so y’all can learn together.
ADRIENNE and RHONDA J – our husbands may be triplets :) I was just talking with someone over the weekend – she recently retired and his retirement is not far away – and she was thinking about just how much time they would be spending together when that happens. My 2 cents was for at least one spouse to volunteer or indulge in a hobby to allow a little separate time.

Thanks so much to all of you who prayed for me today! I could feel the strength from your prayers and from God Himself. No rapid heart beat issues despite constant busyness. Great and blessed day all around, but sleeping in tomorrow Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise! ☺❤
Love you all!

I really think John is my fave gospel. (I didn’t think I really had one. They’re ALL good, right?!?!) But it is so rich!!
Our pastor is teaching a series called “under construction” one of the scriptures was John 1:1-3.
If We Want To Know The Lord Better, We Find Him In
The Word!
Prayer request: my sister’s friend’s husband is in the hospital for intestinal blockage,he may need surgery
Oh! Praying that won’t be necessary. Keep us posted
So thankful for: “In the beginning….” And here WE are and will continue till our JESUS comes to take us HOME! Happy Sunday sweet She’s. My Fall break is over and enjoyed every day of running and time with my girl. Tomorrow back to the routine of early morning wake up, BUT so thankful my JESUS gave me this time of to rest, recover, run and unhurried family and friend time.
I was a prayer partner at church this morning and a young lady came up and told me she was a teacher. She teaches Juniors. And as I was praying for her, I started crying and I told her how I prayed for a teacher to be there for my grandson the last few years, for his home life is not good, or Godly. My grandson told me a couple of months ago, that he did indeed have a couple of teachers that were very good to him, more like a mother than his mother. So I shared that with Alyssa and told her how God WILL use her, give her eyes to see those students in need of some Jesus love and to point to Him.
I think of how good you are to your littles and love them so much! Teachers are so special and it’s such a hard job.
I often wonder if Kathy is still here with us on SRT. I think she teaches art.

In the beginning. He always was and always will be. He is the light. Thanks be to God.❤️
What a great week of reading, studying and mediating on God’s precious words of Truth, Hope and saving grace. Such rich sharing and reflections that is a blessing as we spur on another on – thank you sisters. I feel like I want to respond and like everything everyone shares. :) Praying for your requests and may you be encouraged and have a greater glimpse of our Heavenly Father, His plans and purposes for your lives as you press on and much joy as may have opportunity to gather in fellowship with your church families on this Sunday.
We celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada this weekend. So much to praise the Lord for and be thankful including this SRT community.
‘It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your loving kindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.’
Psalm 92:1–2
Do you do turkey and fixings?
Oh yes! Its a big celebration, food, fellowship & family. Timing wise its spread out with a family gathering last weekend, another next weekend so just 3 of us at home right now. Chicken and all the fixings in the oven – turkeys are a bit too big for 3, but it is indeed all the very traditional good things overflowing with testimony of God’s goodness and great kindness in our lives❤️
Yum
GM ladies! I am finally caught up! Wow what a week of comments and insights! Rhonda – I was the woman at the well too! Amazing that you are using your story in your jail ministry! God does not waste pain! I wanted to give you all a praise report. I mentioned that my husband and I were struggling and that he was not open to getting help. Well God answered our prayers and we are taking a 9 week course via zoom about the effects of ADHD on marriage. It is SOOO good and so eye opening. We are learning all about how our brains work differently (not one is better) and how to work together and communicate. I highly recommend it!
Thank you for your prayers! Have a blessed Sunday!
Tami…..THIS is GREAT news! I actually wrote down your prayer request! Wow!! God is so good! We will continue to pray!
That is so good Tami!! I would love to do that course, I can’t seem to persuade my hubby to do any kind of class or counseling either, so I shall pray about it as well! What a Praise!!
Tami… neither of us (to my knowledge!) have ADHD, but we are kinda struggling right now… maybe since I just retired. As a result… 1) I feel kinda lost. 2) We are around each other all. the. time! This week I have been reminding myself that we are two different people, and that our brains don’t work the same at all. I have been trying to check in with myself and seek how I can best serve him. He would not be open to attending that course, but do you have some other resources that might be good (for me!) to do or read?
Yes, being around each other all the time does that. Our life groups always does a couple of marriage groups, but can’t get him to want to do them. :/ Men are so stubborn.lol
That is a big adjustment Adrienne! The course we are taking is specifically for those with at least one partner having ADHD. The woman, Melissa Orlov, who runs the course is an expert on ADHD and relationships. She has a book called “ADHD and marriage”. She also has a great website with resources with the same name. I hope that helps. Keep me posted:)
Thank you. I took a screenshot. (I’m sure I wouldn’t remember her name. I’m good with faces. But with names? Not so much!)
So thankful for our infinitely perfect divine Creator who watches over His children. He is sovereign and in control! We can trust Him because He is faithful!
Prayers for all!
In the beginning was the Word,(God) in the beginning was Jesus, in the beginning was the Holy Spirit…and in the beginning was the redemption plan for our salvation. Praise God!
Be blessed this morning sweet She’s.❤️
Need prayer for consistency in my walk with The Lord.
Praying for you Jess. ❤️

Yes, mam! And I highly recommend joining a small group/life group of ladies at church! It makes all the difference! Sunday is good, but to dig in and study and share is the icing on the cake!

Forty plus years ago, at a Christmas Eve service I was attending, this passage, John 1:1-5, was sung in Latin, then Ukrainian and finally English. Little did those priests know how those words influenced me. It was as if electricity went right through me, down into my innermost being. The words drew me in and propelled me towards the path of salvation.
God’s word spoken out loud, or in my case, sung out loud, had/has power beyond our understanding. It humbles me thinking about it.
Speak the name of Jesus. Speak His word. We have no idea how the Holy Spirit will use it.
God bless you sweet sisters.
That must have been a beautiful Christmas eve service
Yes, it was. ❤️
Amen – His name is power, His name is life!
Yes, amen! I heard a man praying in Hebrew on some clip and my Spirit just lept as I was hearing it.
The footnote in my Bible for this verse is so good that I wanted to share. I use the New Living Translation Life Application Study Bible.
“What does John mean by ‘the Word?’ The Word was a term used by theologians and philosophers, both Jews and Greeks, in many different ways. In Hebrew Scripture, the Word was an agent of creation (Psalm 33:6), the source of God’s message to His people (Hosea 4:1), and God’s law, His standard of holiness (Psalm 119:11). In Greek philosophy, the Word was the principle of reason that governed the world, or the thought still in the mind, while in Hebrew thought, the Word was another expression for God. John’s description shows clearly that he is speaking of Jesus (see especially 1:14)—a human being he knew and loved, but at the same time the Creator of the universe, the ultimate revelation of God, the living picture of holiness, the one who ‘holds all creation together’ (Colossians 1:17). To Jewish readers, to say this man Jesus ‘was God’ was blasphemous. To Greek readers, ‘the Word became human’ (1:14) was unthinkable. To John, this new understanding of the Word was the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
This is good insight. Thank you for sharing. ❤️
I love this verse. This whole chapter is so deep . Whenever I start a Bible study with a new person;I always start with John .so much doctrine taught academically, yes with love, conviction and gentleness.
Amen!
Amen
May we seek and find satisfaction in God’s presence today. What a privilege that we are invited to BE WITH GOD just as the Word was/ is WITH God.
Amen!!
Amen!

Genesis 1:1-5 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness he called ‘night.’ There was an evening, and there was a morning: one day.”

Let us worship the One who brought us out of darkness into His marvelous light!
