Isaiah 42:8

Over the course of this reading plan, we will memorize our key verse. We’ll start with the first part.

“I am the LORD. That is my name,
and I will not give my glory to another
or my praise to idols.”
—Isaiah 42:8

Happy Sunday sweeties!! oh boy…it’s already HOT this morning in sunny Cal. Woke up early and decided to go for a short walk and it was already 70 degrees (reaching 101 degrees today). Thanking my JESUS along the way, saying hello to strangers, and my trail friends. And as I sit here on the front porch, I give my Lord all the glory for all that He has done for me even the hard stuff as it’s a huge part of where I am today! OK…weather check again. Its not even 9:00AM and it’s already 77 degrees! Oh but wait…. I love heat! Love you all to the moon and back!

He is God,and God alone. We are not to profane his name…sinning, dishonored him,etc

    8 I am the Lord; that is my name;

my glory I give to no other,

nor my praise to carved idols. (ESV)

We have many idols today. Putting many things before the Lord that have no Kingdom value. Lord, help me lay down those things that are worldly. Help me lay down busyness, distraction, my phone, and other things and devote my love to you!
We thank you for another day to give you praise and center our life on you and your Glory! You are worthy. Amen.

    1. Danielle B says:

Yes, Rhonda May we put down our idols!

    2. Mari V says:

The phone! My phone! Their (my kids) phone! YES, let’s put those suckers down and bask in the glory of our JESUS! Good morning sweet Rhonda!

    3. Sandi says:

Sometimes I wish mobile phones were never invented. They are a distraction, and people spend more time with them than God’s word.

  10. Aimee D-R says:

Amen and hallelujah for our one true God!

  11. Kelly (NEO) says:

    Revelation 4:11
    “Lord and God,
    you are worthy to receive
    glory and honor and power,
because you have created all things,
    and by your will
    they exist and were created.”
    .
May we Your creatures give you praise and glory today as we gather to worship.

Sunday Blessings to you all, Ladies.
Just wanted to add my encouragement to the shout out for this week’s podcast with Joel Muddamale – I listened to it twice this weekend. It’s really good!
I will also give the same endorsement to the Deep Dish podcast – Courtney Doctor is the co-host and I heard her first as a SRT podcast guest. The conversation on contentment with Elizabeth Woodson is excellent and for us more mature SRT fans, there is a great one on Aging with Jen Wilkin. It was a thought-provoking discussion about not letting the culture determine how we steward our years.

    1. Eileen Dowd says:

Thank you Sally I will check out the Deep Dish Podcast!

    2. Searching says:

Mature …. Thank you, sounds much better than old!

    3. Rachel says:

Yay! I’m so glad you have enjoyed it, too!

    4. Sandi says:

      Sounds intriguing. Redeeming the time.

    5. Gwineth52 says:

      Excellent ideas.
      Beautiful Blessings, Sally!
