Weekly Truth

Open Your Bible

Genesis 26:24

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize a verse spoken by God to Isaac, reassuring Isaac of God’s presence with him.

“I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you.”
—Genesis 26:24

I went on a hunt for GABRIELLA’s testimony after seeing CHERYL BLOW’s comment this morning- found in the app where she had posted this morning. It’s not quite 2 separate communities, but there are at least several comments each day that don’t sync to the webpage (and vice versa). I’m subscribed to the digital book for each study and app access is included. I rarely use either of them – I prefer the larger format of the website and ease of communication with my sisters here. Didn’t mean to get off on all that!

To summarize GABRIELLA’s testimony, she’s 20, in college, has turned from “a pit of sin” (like many of us) and has been seeking the Lord, “on a journey to rebuild my relationship with God, and renew my love for Him.” The turning started 3 years ago and she is now under spiritual attack with the enemy’s lies and tactics, standing strong and wondering about our thoughts on her getting a purity ring. If you have the app, be sure to read her full testimony – I’ll be praying for her.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Oh good to know…I don’t have the app. I use the website as well. Thanks for sharing. It is funny that people come to Christ…but they don’t know that it is when the devil tries to attack the hardest and keep you in your old lifestyle. I hit my knees, then, right back to the sin. It took years to really surrender my ways for His ways! But helps us to remember grace for those that are struggling. And stuck in a sin cycle!

    2. Cee Gee says:

Website here too so thanks for sharing that, SEARCHING! Joining in prayer for Gabriella and others like her who are young in their faith or coming back to their faith. You’re so right, Rhonda, about the evil one’s attacks.
God bless Gabriella, draw her nearer still and cover her with your hand of protection. Lead her to Scriptures that will strengthen her and give her peace and to mature believers who can mentor her if needed. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes..it’s so good to have accountability sisters to do things with or call when you need!

  6. Cheryl Blow says:

God is with me…what a great reminder!

  7. Cheryl Blow says:

Beautiful testimony, Gabriella! I would say if the ring serves as a reminder of your commitment to God and purity, go for it! Praying for you!

  8. Danielle B says:

Yes Lord knowing you are with us gives such peace. As Kelly and Carol mentioned our dwelling place. May I choose to not turn from your dwelling place.

A blessed Sunday to you all today sweet sisters and loving friends!

    A little interesting sidenote from
    NKJV Wiersbe Study Bible-
“Beersheba was a very special place of assurance for Isaac, because there his father had entered into a covenant with the Philistine leaders (21:22ff.). “Beersheba” means “well of the oath.” The Lord comes to us with His assuring Word just when we need encouragement (see Acts 18:9–11; 23:11; 27:23, 24; 2 Tim. 2:19).

Like his father Abraham, Isaac was identified by his tent and altar (Gen. 26:25; see 12:7, 8; 13:3, 4, 18). Isaac was wealthy enough to be able to build himself a fine house, but his tent identified him as a foreigner and nomad in the land (Heb. 11:8–10, 13–16). A fugitive is fleeing from home; a vagabond has no home; but a foreigner is heading home. The tent identified Isaac as a nomad, and the altar announced that he worshiped Jehovah and was heading to the heavenly kingdom.”

I just found this song yesterday and feel like it rounds out our week’s focus.

Dawson Cowals – “Peace” (Official Lyric Video)
This is what the artist said in notes on YouTube: “We’ve been working on this song for several years and are finally ready to release it! Whenever we face uncertainty or go through a valley or storm in this life, God promises that he will be with us and give us his peace that goes beyond our human understanding. This song pulls from several scriptures including Psalm 121, Psalm 69 and Philippians 4. May it be an encouragement to you if you are going through a dark time that even in the midst of the storm, Jesus can calm the waves and give you his peace!

We recently had Hurricane Milton pass directly over us here in Sarasota but we were fortunate and had no damage, just lost power for 6 days. This song is dedicated to all who were devastated and hit hard by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in Florida and Appalachia this year. Please keep them in your prayers!”

  10. Rhonda J says:

    Good Morning!

    Happy Sunday-

He is the father of Abraham, Issac and Jacob–and Loves us! All of us! Reminds me of Same God- Elevation! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His promises stay true and faithful.

And as a child of God- I was made for more! Buried is my past, gone forever! Praise God–I am new! Made for purpose, action, discipleship, to be a light!

I am surrendered Lord. I am not afraid for you ARE with me. No matter what shall come! You make us strong and courageous, when we are weak. For we are made for such a time as this! Let us not waste it! Like the parable states…don’t bury what we have! Make the most of what we have been given! God gives us each some–to multiply! Help me Lord to be faithful and productive with what you have given me!

Bless every She Lord today and fill their cup!

  11. Kelly (NEO) says:

The promise from God to be with us in all ways and for always did not start with Isaac, but I believe this is the first record of it.

    .
May His great peace flood our hearts with this truth.
    .
    Psalm 90:1 ESV
[1] Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.

[2] Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

[17] Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

    4. Karen Elizabeth says:

I do love making versus personal, but often don’t think to do it. Thank you for the reminder. The Lord certainly was with my dad. He is in ministry now, but did not go to seminary until he was in his 40s, resisting the call for many years before. But God ❤️ God has been faithful to my parents and he is faithful to me.

      1. Karen Elizabeth says:

        Haha, verses. Gotta love autofill
