Romans 8:14-17

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

For this reading plan we will work to memorize Romans 8:14–17. As we are reading through the family line of Jesus, we remember that we have been adopted into God’s family through Jesus.

We’ll start by memorizing verse 14.

14 For all those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!” 16 The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, 17 and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
—Romans 8:14–17

I agree with Monica. I really miss the phone wallpapers as they were a huge help in memorization. Please bring them back to the app.

I miss the lock screen shots of the Sunday passage. It’s not on the app anymore. I would put it on my phone and change it weekly.

What stands out about Abraham’s interactions with God? Hmm…The Lord said, “leave your country”. “So Abram left.” In Genesis 12:7 the Lord appeared to Abram, made a promise to him and then Abram worshiped. God spoke to Abram in a vision, Abram responded with a question. The word of the Lord came to Abram and he believed the Lord. …Abram had a personal relationship and interaction with the Lord. God spoke – Abram listened, trusted & obeyed. Our faith is that simple but sometimes we make it so much more complicated. To know God is to listen to His word (the bible) and His Spirit within us, to trust Him and obey. Abram had know idea where he was going or what God was going to do, but he trusted God with all his heart and he obeyed. Sometimes its hard for us to obey when we are uncertain of what God is doing. But that’s where faith comes in – trust & obey.

Father God, help me to trust you even when I can’t see what’s ahead, even when I don’t understand what you are doing. Help me to have confidence that all will be well, because You DO know what you are doing.

Praying for @Heidi, @Sarah D. and other requests as I read them

To me being adopted means being chosen. I am an adopted child of my earthly Dad & Mom which has always made me feel special. And being adopted by God is the ultimate gift. Praying for all of the requests spoken as well as silent. We are so blessed dear adopted Sisters.

Hi ladies!! Praying for you all!! Would love your continued prayers. I’m slightly hesitant to accept the pre-K job, but I think the main thing that is holding me back is the pay, since it will be lower and I will have to pay for the remainder of my masters degree. Thankfully I can afford it! But I think it will be worth it. An in person job that isn’t a phone job should be a nice change I think too. I’m excited to work with kids, especially at a Christian school. Gonna keep on praying, but I’m going to accept the job today!

Heidi lifted you both up in prayer, that God reveals His plan. He has gotten you there inspite of obstacles. Kelly hope all goes well with the classes. I was a ESL teacher at my state’s refugee center. Questions were not asked about being legal, but so many afraid. Thank you for doing this work. God bless you.

  20. Linda Arnold says:

    Amen!

  21. Heidi says:

I know Sundays are a little “quieter” here, but would like to lift up a prayer request- we are going tn to visit a church outside of paris a couple of hours. They are a “partner” church with ours so that is how we were connected with their head pastor. Representation of the Church in Europe is so minimal… apparently this church has about 200 attendees on a “good day” and that is almost considered “mega church” here. Anyway – praying we see and hear and experience God in a new way tonight.

Ryan has been very frustrated on the planning-side of this trip. Things keep becoming more difficult or expensive that what he has in his mind and I think he is discouraged. I am praying that HE gets a new revitalization in his heart on why God has us here these weeks and what His hope/plan for us. Would so covet prayers for all of this. ♥️

  27. Kelly (NEO) says:

Lead me, Holy Spirit. May I be known as a child of God to those I come in contact with.

My church (re)launches ESL classes today. Please agree with me in prayer that the Lord would block the enemy’s attempts to keep people away. And that those comeing wouls see and feel the love of Jesus as they learn the basics of English.

  28. Heidi says:

I do not focus enough on MY adopted-genealogy into the linage of Christ. Partly bc it is post-Him arriving on earth, I tend to focus on the line leading UP TO him. But it is a mind-altering thought that I am in the lineage of Christ and that I now carry that name and that promise that so many have carried before me. My prayer is that I walk in that powerful-Spirit so that I can bring even more people into his family to be a part of that same lineage :)

  29. MARTHA HIX says:
