Hebrews 12:1-2

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

For this study, we will memorize our key passage, Hebrews 12:1–2. This week we will start with verse 1, which reminds us to keep our eyes on Jesus, who goes before us on our journey of faith.

Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
—Hebrews 12:1–2

    As the sun beams down, warming the ground, I close my eyes and open my heart to the sound of the “great cloud of witnesses” that surround me (Hebrews 12:1a). I fix my gaze upon Jesus and my ears upon the ancient voices of faith. All the way back… Abel who offered to God a most excellent sacrifice (Hebrews 11:4)… “Able is now dead, but he still speaks.” So, I will listen. Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jeptath, David, Samuel, and all the prophets… So many saints calling out with cheers of endurance, perseverance, true faith, and hope. “Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1b). Father God, You came to us through Jesus. You gave us a leader to follow home. You gave us a voice of endurance and an audience of hope and joy. Help me discern the sound of their cheers over the voice of the enemy that seeks to destroy life and goodness here. Jesus is at the finish line, and He will receive us in His arms of victory. Praise be to God. For my life, for my breath, for this day. I can do this. Hallelujah. Maranatha. Amen.

    prepares rain for the earth,
    and causes grass to grow on the hills.
    9 He provides the animals with their food, and the young ravens what they cry for.

    10 He is not impressed by the strength of a horse;

    Catching up on the comments this evening and enjoying a very full weekend of our virtual business/leadership conference <3 God is so good…

    Thank you ladies for praying for my brother in law and the situation with losing his new job before he started… I shared the Indeed website with him so that will help with his search. Someone here had asked if he would be able to take a driving test or wait until it falls off.. his accident on record will fall off after 4 more years (10+ years total). He could explain it up front in an interview too, so there's no surprises. Praying in Jesus' name that he finds employment somewhere that will be positive for him, and that this situation becomes a way for my mother in law and him to break their cycle of codependency, so he can become more confident and proactive, and she can let go of her need to do everything for him and allow him to grow up in a healthy way. Amen.

    Ladies, if you could please pray for our whole household and our health. My mother in law was sick first, then I got sick, and now my brother in law and husband are starting to show symptoms. Not COVID but just a cold. Thank you all. Praying for your requests, along with protection, safety, good health and harmony. Be well <3
