Day 21

Weekly Truth

from the Amen & Amen reading plan

Psalm 40:3

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.

For this reading plan, we’ve worked on memorizing Psalm 40:3. Spend some time today reviewing the full verse. Use this psalm as a reminder to respond to God with thanksgiving and praise.

He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and they will trust in the LORD.
—Psalm 40:3

    Day 20 is missing

  2. Cindy Hanna says:

I’m reminded of Kara Gause comments in Friday’s devotional about the idea of Life being understood as a song and humans the instruments of praise. I pray that living of my own life will echo sweet music of praise to our God.

  3. Dorothy says:

Today is a good day to trust in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit as it is a day of remembrance for a couple of nations. For the UK as they mourn the loss of their beloved Queen Elizabeth and the USA as we remember all who died in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Let us all know that God, Christ and the Holy Spirit is with all of us at this time.

CeCe Winans has a song titled “I’ve Got Joy” that is one of my favorites to listen to when I am feeling down. Here are some of the words:
“I’ve got joy in the struggle,
I’ve got peace in the storm
I’ve got strength in the battle
    I don’t fear anymore
    I’m a child of heaven
    And my hope is secure
I’ve got joy ’cause I’ve got Jesus
He gave me beauty for ashes, turned my life around
He broke my chains and now I dance on solid ground
For all He’s done to save me, I will raise my voice
I’ve got Jesus, so I’ve got joy
He bore all of my burdens
Yeah, my debt has been paid
Then He said to my dry bones
Rise up out of that grave
He has all of my worship
    All the honor and praise
I’ve got joy ’cause I’ve got Jesus.”

I loved this study and learning more about the book of Psalms. Can’t wait to dive into Ruth, talk about devotion, she had it.

Sisters, be blessed and no matter where you live spread the JOY OF GOD, CHRIST AND THE HOLY SPIRIT today.

Praying for you Heidi. God is in control and I pray that He will bring breakthrough after breakthrough for you to achieve the goal He has for you. David said he killed a lion and a bear and the Lord will also kill the Giant Philistine!

After 8th grade my daughter wanted to go on to private HS with her friends and on paper I couldn’t afford this school. After 2 yrs of her being sad and missing her friends in another school and the Christian school environment, I just trusted God and enrolled her in the private school junior year. Somehow scholarships started coming, my bank account kept growing. I still don’t understand but I am so grateful she graduated with her friends and ended up enjoying HS so much. God found a way!

  5. Searching says:

A somber day. I will always remember exactly where I was when I heard and saw the first news report that September morning. There are several of those points of time in my life, but none that touches so many people, our country and much of the world. I’m sure there were more prayers prayed throughout this country during those early days than at any other time in my life.

So true CHURCHMOUSE, thank you for your words of wisdom. I can remember a relative (nearing 90) in her last couple of weeks on this earth and knowing it wouldn’t be long, saying how quickly life had passed. We all need to stay close to the Lord, praising Him and working to do His will while we are on this side of heaven.

And TINA – I always admired the Queen as she seemed to be a class act, and yet quite ordinary in that her grandchildren called her Granny. It weird for me to think of a king for England as she was crowned a few years before I was born – so it has to be weird for people in the UK. Praying for all through this transition.

  6. Susan Lincks says:

    Amen

  7. Nancy Singleton says:

Poignant words from both Tina & Churchmouse. We must be grateful for each new day, & live each to the glory of God.

  8. Jennifer Loves Jesus says:

Each new moment is a moment of grace. Each gift of breath from God fills me with life. I reflect on a queen who is now with her King. QEII was released from her earthly and royal position here to be received into the eternal position of grace with our Father. Threads of a real life fairy tale contrasted with the darkness of 9/11. Good and evil collide in the mouths of many across the land. I am keenly aware that both exist. And, there is a scarlet thread, a river of red that “put a new song in my mouth, a praise to our God” (Psalm 40:3a). My ears hear the theme song of salvation as I walk through life with Jesus. No matter what comes, the song still plays. I am the same inside no matter what happens on the outside. Quietly contained by the hands of my Father, patiently waiting until my own soul is released into His Kingdom. Humble but strong. Content yet always training for battle now. Hands to the plow with the sweat of labor. Planting good seeds and tending the soil for the harvest. Sabbath rest doesn’t mean no work. It is the condition of my heart and soul at rest, while my body works out in the world. I am grateful for this new morning. New moments. New grace. New strength. New wisdom. New joy. Each moment is new, the past is the past. Released from the entanglement of things I cannot change. Stepping out in faith with God who so abundantly gives and gives. Father God, show me when to sing and sow, and when to wait and rest. Remind me of Your unfailing love, and show me how to share it with others. Soften hearts, the soil to receive good seeds. Open eyes, the windows to the soul, to see You. Open our ears to hear Your song. Selah. Maranatha. Amen & amen.
