Day 14

Weekly Truth

from the Ezekiel: Come to Life (Lent 2022) reading plan

Ezekiel 36:26-28

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.

This week we will continue to memorize Ezekiel 36:26–28 by adding the second half of verse 26, where God promises to remove Israel’s heart of stone.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will place my Spirit within you and cause you to follow my statutes and carefully observe my ordinances. You will live in the land that I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.”
—Ezekiel 36:26–28

(On Ezekiel 36:26) “I will give you a new heart…” Not mended or improved, but new. We get a brand new heart. God did not soften my hardened heart, he replaced it. No more meds or trying other remedies. I went to the Surgeon, I gave myself, my heart, over to the mercy of His hand and let Him cut it out. I finally trusted Him all the way. Upon waking from this divine procedure, the worldly pleasures and painkillers no longer held my attention. God’s voice and His beauty captivated me. I wanted more of Him over everything else. I didn’t deserve this new heart, but He gave it to me anyway. Because that’s who He is, a life Saviour. I treated Him the worst, yet He gave me His best gift. I praise You Yahweh, I praise Your Holy Name. May I give You honor with this new heart. And may I remember- not my will, but Yours be done- here on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
