Joshua 1:9

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week, we will memorize the second part of Joshua 1:9. Continue reading the full verse out loud three times. Then, practice your memorization by adding this verse to a note on your phone, underlining or highlighting certain words as you type them out.

“Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous?
Do not be afraid or discouraged,
for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
—Joshua 1:9

Save the image below as a lock screen for your phone so you can read these words throughout the day.

Earlier this week I commented as I walked to work (on paved trail) someone (using their chalk art gift) wrote the acronym to Covid and ended it with Joshua 1:9. For those of you who may have missed it this is what each letter stood for: Christ Offers Victory In Distress. It made my heart so happy I almost kicked to the rest of the way to work. Happy Sunday to all of you my sweet sisters.

Did you know Joshua 1:9 is the most viral verse? I figured it was up there on the list, but had no idea it was number one until today. Here’s the article that talks about it and elaborates on what this verse is about in context. It also discusses how to correctly apply the command and promise of Joshua 1:9 to our lives today.

Sunday is WONday. The day we recall Jesus’ victory over death. The day Satan was defeated and Jesus won. For all of us who believe, it is our day of victory as well. How then can we be discouraged or fearful when we have a God Who did that, the same God Who is with us today, tomorrow and forever? Let us lift our hands and voices in praise of our victorious Savior. Let fear and discouragement be replaced with complete trust in Jesus who conquered the grave, rose from the dead and is coming again.
