Ecclesiastes 12:13

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize the key verse for Ecclesiastes.

When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: fear God and keep his commands, because this is for all humanity.
—Ecclesiastes 12:13

This morning my son’s pastor had a panel of men share, unscripted. Two black, two white, two were pastor’s, one gentleman grew up in a very rough area, and one was a policeman – all believers. His pastor started with a statement that threw me…he said, “God is not colorblind.” At first I thought he miss spoke. Then he said something like, “God created each one of us, people of all races and colors, each one beautiful in color, on purpose.”

Searching my heart, I honestly do not believe I am prejudice regarding a person’s skin color. I started to type out reasons why I came to that conclusion, except those don’t really matter. What I heard today made me realize I need to spend some time in prayer, because while I may not be prejudice… perhaps there is a growth that needs to take place; a good-stretching where instead of being “colorblind,” even in a non-prejudice way, I could better see, encourage, and celebrate the skin color gifts as part of God’s plan. Sort of like the way I get excited about every single flower that grows in my yard. Each one uniquely beautiful, a praise, glorious.

Thank you once again Father, for stretching me, growing me, loving me enough to not leave me the same. I trust your guidance. Help me to listen, grow, and obey. Wow Lord, You are so amazing, You are so good, and I am always blessed, humbly blessed and grateful to be Yours.

CeeGee – thank you for your kind words on Friday (I think) when you were in a battle with your device – I smile as I type because…I’ve been there waaaaay toooo often!
Thank you to others also who prayed for God’s protection for me during my husband’s Covid. He answers the prayers of His children. Thank you sisters.

Fear the Lord and keep his commands…And what a good Lord and Savior we have who has fulfilled the Law of God for us! Only by abiding in Jesus can we keep the commands of our God. What a glorious promise and hope!

JENNIFER WING and JENNIFER O, thank you for sharing your common journey with chronic illness. May the Lord grant us endurance and hope as we continue to rely upon his sufficient grace in the midst of our weakness. And I pray for your healing (and others here with chronic illness). Whether it comes today or on the day of resurrection, I know we have a great promise that it WILL happen! Blessings to you!

I wasn’t going to post this, but I felt that I should. Yet another deputy officer lost his life yesterday. Sgt Damon Gutzwiller. I do not know him as I am not from that area. I had taken my children to the Santa Cruz Beach area for a fun day. We were on our way home when I saw (and I am not exaggerating) about a dozen + police cars heading the opposite direction on the freeway. My kids and I began to pray. My son looked it up on Twitter and read that there was an officer down. Even though I don’t even know him or his family my heart aches. I read that he was a great person, he was described as “a beloved figure“.

      Thank You for sharing

Anna thank you for seeking to understand. I do not condone the looting and violence but as a black person I understand it. The murder of George Floyd is just one of the numerous cases where a black person has been murdered and time and time again the murderer is not held accountable. In this current age we have phones that can video events. So what you have is people who then feel no one is here to protect me, I’ll take matters into my own hands. There’s a lifetime of things I could say but I’ll end with Solomon’s admonishing us to Fear God and keep his commandments.

  11. Elisha Anne says:

May we fear God above all. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” ♥️

  12. Anna says:

My heart aches for the Black men and women in the world today. They have been regarded as property, seen as less than, stereotyped and stolen from for generations, and white people (like me) who have benefitted from this injustice are just starting to notice.

I am angry for my friend, who has been told “you’re the whitest Black person I know” as if it were a compliment. I am angry for my roommate, who has so often been put into the position of having to speak for all Black people because our peers and professors think it’s enough to hear the perspective of their “one Black friend.” I am terrified for my boyfriend, who cannot walk alone at night in our suburban neighborhood because police will see him as a threat.

I am so frustrated at the many people I see focusing more on scrutinizing the way Black people protest than empathizing with why they have to.

God, You are the God of justice. You see your children being strangled, shot, judged, and crying out. Please give me the wisdom and open my heart so that I may be a tool for your justice and healing this side of heaven. Please give me empathy and humility to acknowledge my privilege and use it to uplift the voices of those who have not been heard on their own. Please give me courage to hold my white friends and family accountable in a way that is pleasing to You. Most importantly, please fill the hearts of those hurting due to racial injustice with Your peace. In your name, Amen.

  13. DOROTHY says:

Upon ending this study what better verse for a memory verse, especially right now. It reminds us that the one that should be feared is God. In my 61 years I have seen much, met many people especially through my nursing career, and learned a few things. The main thing I learned I learned from my earthly father and reading my Bible and that is God is the only one and thing to truly fear. Lord I repeat the prayer I said on Friday, Father, help me to keep your commandments and remember You and Your Son are the Ones to obey, You are the Ones to bow down to, the Ones who are there when I need some one. You are there in the good times and the bad times. Amen.

  14. Nicole Green says:

    Amen.

  15. Melissa Mcronney says:

    Amen

  16. Nancy Singleton says:

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul & with all your mind.’ This is the first & greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law & the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’ Matthew 22:37-40. Enough said.

    1. Rebekah C says:

And if you are not sure of what love does, read 1 Corinthians 13

  17. Churchmouse says:

Solomon gives the bottom line for how best to live “under the sun.” After all his study and research, he boils it all down to this: fear God and keep His commandments. Sounds alot like like “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.”

What it all comes down to..

FEAR GOD, AND KEEP HIS COMMANDS..

    To..
    Love, and honour.

    Protect and serve.

    Respect life.

    Love one another.

    I’ll say it again..

    LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Gods love, is not all about cosy and fluffy, to fully love as we are instructed to, is not easy, true, but to love wholeheartedly and in truth, involves respect, grace, kindnessfaithfullness, patience, humility, goodness, self control, peace, joy..

When all is said and done..

Fear God, and keep His commands .. LOVE, wrapped in ALL the above.

    Amen.

Happy Sunday, sisters, wrapped wholeheartedly in love.❤ Peace be with you and yours.❤

    1. Margaret Terry says:

YES YES YES! Only God had the power to sort things out, our job is to FEAR HIM AND TO LOVE ❤️❤️❤️
