Day 14

Weekly Truth

from the Ecclesiastes reading plan

Ecclesiastes 5:18

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize a verse from Ecclesiastes 5 about enjoying the life and work God has given us.

It is appropriate to eat, drink, and experience good in all the labor one does under the sun during the few days of his life God has given him.
—Ecclesiastes 5:18b

Yes Lord. Heal our nation. Heal our land. Remove the scales from our eyes.

Dear Bessie, I pray that your friend and her husband can grasp and hold tight knowing that they are not alone. God is there with them and will carry them through to whatever the outcome is to be. But in the journey may they find peace, joy and an intimacy with our Lord and Savior that will surpass all understanding for them and those surrounding them. Glory be to our God!

Praying for Mel, her husband, and you Bessie. I empathize with you in that my best friend’s mom is also dying from cancer. She also had thought she had beaten it when it came back much worse than before. It is so very sad.

Praying for your friend Mel and her husband/family, Bessie.
I’m also praying for our country. It is awful what is happening right now. I just don’t understand how anyone would think this would be ok, no matter what has happened. It just compounds the problem. My previous town of Rochester, NY experienced rioting and looting last night. Lord, please be with our country. Please be with us and help us to make the right decisions, to look to you for guidance.
Peace to you all my dear SRT Sisters.

Praying for Mel and her husband. What sadness and grief in an already trying time. May the Lord comfort them with His loving arms!
This SRT group is such a great forum for encouragement. I hope you feel uplifted, Bessie! To me, it is like having lovely ladies come on each side of me and hold me up before I fall. Thank you, sisters, for your strength when mine is waning.

Dear friends, I ask for your prayers for my friend Mel. She is a lovely young woman who is dying from cancer. My heart is heavy today. She thought she had beaten it, but it came back. Please pray for her and for her dear husband who is having a really hard time also. Thank you for your
prayers. It means so much to me that I can share my burdens with you and know that you will help me to carry them to our Loving Father. God be with you on this glorious day of Pentecost.

  8. Indiana Christina says:

There is a beauty in mindfully and slowly doing the mundane things in life, like eating or drinking or even laundry. When we do this, we can embrace the moment and praise God for each sensation: the way the coldness and smoothness of the water that God provides quenches your thirst, the burst of chocolate flavor mixed with the delightful sponginess of a piece of cake, the feel of soft fabric on your fingertips as you fold a particularly soft and fluffy towel. When we slow down and really delight in the moments of eating and drinking and working, we can really savor and enjoy it and see the echoes of Eden and God’s goodness in even the ordinary.

      I remember reading somewhere once to be thankful for all things;
Dirty dishes – you have food to eat
Dirty laundry – you have kids or a spouse in your home with you. And prayerfully, they are healthy. And that you have clothes to wear.
Toys strung everywhere – family with you that is able to play. And that you can play with.
Etc….I try to stop and think this way when I get frustrated by messes during my day. Blessings right in front of me!
