Day 7

Weekly Truth

from the Hymns of Hope reading plan

Psalm 62:1-2

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

As we read hymns of hope based on the promises of Scripture, let’s memorize this passage that celebrates the rest and refuge God offers us in all circumstances.

I am at rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold; I will never be shaken.
-Psalm 62:1-2

    How many times do I forget that I can seek shelter in the presence of the Almighty King? That he longs to be my refuge and steadfast rock so I won’t be shaken by the things in my life. How quickly I forget and let myself get upset about small -and large!- things. Lord, I pray that I would be more mindful of you throughout my day, and that when trials come- be they small or large – that my first thought would be to share that burden with you. What a great and wonderful Father you are! Your name be praised. Amen.

    I’ve had rumblings in my life that slightly unsettled me–family and friends spoke Truth to me. I’ve had tremors in my life that had me grabbing for anything that would provide stability–and found the surest thing to be the Word of God. I’ve had earthquakes that knocked me to my knees – and found intense prayer as the means to rise again and stand strong. With Godly family and friends, the Word of God, and prayer, I am at rest. Regardless of where my life registers on the Richter scale, “I am at rest in God alone.”
