The Word of God

Open Your Bible

John 1:1-28, Isaiah 55:10-11, Hebrews 1:1-4

I have loved the music of Harry Connick Jr. for more than twenty years. “We Are In Love” has been our song since Ryan and I were dating in high school, and so many others have been the soundtrack to our story over the years. From “Lofty’s Roach Soufflé” to “Bourbon Street Parade,” Harry’s musicianship has kept him at the tip-top of the list of concerts I’d love to one day attend.

For my birthday this year, my concert-going dream became a reality when Ryan surprised me with tickets to a Harry Connick Jr. show in an outdoor amphitheater just south of Nashville. We looked forward to it for months, but when the day finally arrived, a sudden-onset thunderstorm threatened to cancel the event altogether. We sat in our car outside the venue that night, waiting and hoping as the lightning crashed and the rain poured. More than an hour later, after the worst of the threat had passed and most of the concert goers had given up and headed home, we heard the update: “Harry wants to sing!”. Braving the still-pouring rain, we ran from the car and found our seat among the remaining guests scattered sparsely throughout the amphitheater.

The opening number was spectacular, but it couldn’t prepare us for what happened next. “Assigned seating is out the window tonight, folks!” Harry announced. “Come on down and let’s have a good time—I’m going to give you everything I’ve got!” Through the rain the remnant came, filing into seats we didn’t pay for at a show we didn’t think would happen, greeting each other with the same kindness we’d been shown by our generous host. In the middle of the storm, Harry beckoned us to “come and see” the good thing that was even better than we’d hoped it could be.

Friends, the book of John is your invitation to “come and see” Jesus—up close! John’s Gospel tells the story of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, showing Him to be the divine Son of God and compelling us to respond by putting our faith in Him. This reading plan will walk you through all twenty-one chapters over the course of five weeks, along with supplemental passages connecting your reading in John with the rest of Scripture.

John’s Gospel is an open door into the life-changing ministry and message of Jesus. We’ve all got seats we couldn’t pay for if we tried—all the more reason to make room for strangers and friends to join us! So invite a friend and settle in. Let’s read the true story of the Son of God, and let’s be different because of it.

  151. Renee Lowe says:

I was thinking the exact same thing! So amazing to see this book come to life now.

  152. Growing Faith says:

“Who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion.” I read 1 Timothy 6:16 last night and for an awful second the “unapproachable light” felt…unapproachable…unknowable…and unappealing. I quickly reminded myself that I can’t see God because he is holy, powerful, and beyond my ability to comprehend. But I still wanted to feel closer to him in that moment. Then in John 1, I am reminded that God isn’t just A light–he is OUR light. Some may choose to reject God because they can’t see him, but is that even a choice? Not for long….Without God, we have nothing…are nothing. We have no light. We have no being. He made the world and sustains it…and us. But that’s not all. God sent his son to be close to us, to be seen, known, and reachable. Christmas is over and we’ve closed out our advent study, but once again I’m reminded of what a wonderful gift we have in Jesus.

Praying! My husband and kids started off 2021 with COVID as well. I was freaking out, but it was a great time to practicing giving it all back to God. Still not perfect at it. But wanted to let you know, you’re not alone in your worries even when we know we shouldn’t. I’ll be praying for you and your husband

  161. April Wilmoth says:

Still a newbie here myself, but I understand what you’re saying. My husband, kids and I started off 2021 with Covid and I would flip flop back and forth with being out of my mind worried to feeling at peace and knowing God has a plan and I can rest in that. I think it’s one of those times in our lives that we get to practice giving him all of our worries. ‘Cast all your worries on Him because He cares for you’.

New subscriber! So I have completed today’s reading and the worksheets. Is there any discussion about the worksheets? I’m afraid of missing things are not being completely right in my answer. Someone please help me to understand how this study goes. Thank you

Hello Ashley ! So glad you are here.
It is great that you have completed the reading and the worksheets.
How this works is that if you have any questions or comments you post here and see if there is a response. When you do the reading and the worksheets then read all of the community responses you will most likely get answers to your questions.
This is a marvelous community of She’s and a very safe place.
If you think one of your answers to a question may not be quite right then post it. But remember – we are here to help you and pray for you and your growth in the knowledge and wisdom of God – this is not school where your work is graded (thank You God !) but this is where you learn and grow and become closer to God and your fellow She’s (shouldn’t there be a feminine version of “fellow” ?)
For me personally when I log on to SRT it is MY time of worship and fellowship and prayer for all the posted requests and requests that I post.
    WELCOME !

Looking forward to reading together with everyone. As I was opening my Bible study book (hard copy) in the mail a few days ago, I thought that I should really tell some people about SheReadsTruth and see if anyone might want to read along with me for this next study.

It was such an amazing reminder when the last couple sentences of the devotional was a reminder to bring others along with us in this journey. Finally did something about it and invited some friends after years of overthinking it! ❤️❤️

I noted the reference to light too, VICTORIA E. I don’t know, either, if it was a result of noticing light in the Advent study. But it was so nice to read b/c it seems like darkness is “winning” sometimes, doesn’t it?

  190. Portia says:

I’d highly recommend watching the Bible Project YouTube videos on John before starting this study as they’ll give you an outline of the book. I’m so very excited to go through this book with my sisters as a few questions have been on my heart as of late:
    1. Do you really believe what you say you believe?
    2. Who is Jesus to you?
    3. What is your foundation?
I do believe that reading through John will help me to align my beliefs with the truth, to solidify my view of Jesus, & to give me a firm foundation in Him.

Happy New Year sisters. I have often wished I was a morning person. Expessialy more recently since I spending more time in the bible. I want to start my day in the word but most days this is where I end it. I enjoy the quiet time in the evening and by the time I get here there is so much that you all have shared. Prayers for all my SRT sisters, for specific requests and also that the Word would touch each one of us every day.

  192. Stacy Barbeau says:

I’m just loving the SRT bible studies! I have listened to the podcast for many years, but doing the bible study along with the Monday podcasts just makes it even better! Excited to go deep into John to start off the New Year!

  193. Brooklyn Arnot says:

    Hello

  194. Skylar Hilton says:

Reading another book of the bible is always very exciting. I hope that we all have a great time reading John

You know, I’m always very surprised on how John never claimed to be Jesus. He had several opportunities to do so. And if He did, it might have worked for sometime… but he never did. John was always honest when he said he was not Jesus. We need more honest people today. He always directed people towards Jesus… someone always better than us.

We need more people like John in the world today… to direct people to praise Jesus instead of ourselves (or others). I hope that can start with us.

  195. Amy Williams says:

Happy New Year! This is my second study. I went through the Advent study last month and I am excited to read the Bible every day!

  196. Alayna P. says:

Happy New Year! I’m excited to read John with you all ♥️

  197. Natasha R says:

Welcome to the newcomers! You’re in an awesome place! I hope everyone’s year is starting well. Like some of you have expressed, I also intend to contribute more in these comments. I’ve been doing SRT devotionals for a few years now and have benefited much from your thoughts and insights. It’s time for me to commit and jump in!

Welcome to the newcomers! You’re in an awesome place! I hope everyone’s year is starting well. Like some of you have expressespd, ppp

  200. Rhonda J. says:

HALI Y.- Love that you decided to comment and be more active in SRT for your resolution! I wish I could remember all the new names! But know you will be blessed by these studies by SRT.

Yay for the huge number of comments today!

Personally, I do not have the study book (although I would love to!), so I come with my bible and look up the verses. You can also click on them and read that way as well, but something about a real bible in your hand, that you can underline and mark what stands out to you is what I like. (I have a Bible in a year, so it is broken up with timelines, and insights that are helpful). Then you can read the summation from the SRT writers. The community SHE’s leave comments, thoughts, prayer requests, and/or praises. If something is pressing on your heart I encourage you to share. It is amazing how God works through this community! I had such a hard time reading the bible on my own, and sticking with it although I grew up in church. But to be close to God, you have to be in His word. I also suggest the podcast that comes out every Monday. I like to listen to it after a few days of reading through the study! Make it a priority and stay with us!!

P.s. Now I really want an SRT mug! And sweatshirt!

  201. Nicole K says:

This is my first study and I can’t wait to get my book! Any tips for this SRT first timer?

  202. Andrea Silverstein says:

I bought one too! I’m cozying up in my “Truth: Women in the Word of God Everyday” sweatshirt and revelling in the truth of John 1:17, “for the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ”.

  203. Andrea Silverstein says:

Welcome! This is going to change the way you read God’s word! Don’t forget to check out the podcast each Monday.

  204. Tracy S says:

I was wondering the same thing RaeAnn! After re-reading the instructions on page 10 several times, I’m thinking this is only for Jesus I am statements and we leave it blank today.

  205. Bonnie P Mills says:

    Love these reading olans

  206. Kathy Madison says:

The “I am” statements are only for Jesus – I am the light, etc. John the Baptist is speaking to tell people he is not the Christ, so would not be listed with the “I am” statements.

  207. Laura Morris says:

    Praying for your family!

  208. Grayson Chatfield says:

So excited to be here! Happy New Year everyone!

  209. Jennifer Barkley says:

    ❤️

  210. Morgan DelGrosso says:

I am excited to go through the book of John again with a new lens.

  211. Gwineth52 says:

I met the first Monday in the New Year settled in my reading nook, the SRT John study book in my lap & coffee in my new ceramic SRT mug…a Christmas gift to myself from the SRT shop. In beautiful script it says “every hour I need thee”. So personal & so profound. I first joined the She’s community read, complete with study book, at Advent 2020, and as many gathered here, just finished Advent 2021. Coming full circle. Leaving & yet entering another year of His fullness of grace upon grace upon grace, upon grace…Happy to join everybody on this five week journey. Reading John alongside you …great biblical literature… a treatise on Jesus as Lord and Man…breathed through the Holy Spirit. Once more, personal & profound! Thanks be to God.

  212. Joda Mendoza says:

Listen so that your soul may live..

  213. Joda Mendoza says:

Hello everyone!! New and happy to be here!!

  214. RaeAnn Ellis says:

This is my first study. In todays lesson there is an I am statement but it isn’t Jesus saying it. Is that still written down in the I am section? Or is that only for Jesus I am statements? Sorry all the questions- I’ve never done a Bible study in this type of format before ☺️

  215. Tanya Gutierrez says:

    New and Excited❤️❤️

  216. Tanya Gutierrez says:

  217. Lesya Purshaga says:

V4 – life is Christ’s gift to us..

  218. Hali Y. says:

    Hello ladies!
I have been a part of the SRT community for a few years now but have never had the courage to share my thoughts with you all until now. One of my little resolutions is to be an active member of this wonderful fellowship, so just saying hi and introducing myself. I am excited to dive deeper in the Word and encouraged and inspired by the faith of you amazing women!

  219. Abby W says:

While reading today’s Word, this came to my heart

” My daughter, I know you feel lost. The darkness is thick and you feel like you are suffocating sometimes. I see you when you feel like you don’t know which way is up… Its Me, I Am the way. Let Me be your light. My very life was to bring light to your darkness. I came for you. You will not be overcome by this very darkness… I AM here even in your darkness and the darkness will never overcome Me. So rest in My truth and be restored in My abundance”

  220. Mercy says:

When asked, are you the one? John answered I am just the voice in the wilderness pointing to Him. We are the voices of our modern day, selected and called just like John was, to point to the ONE. Let us voice ourselves, either in the wilderness, wherever we are, suburbs, supermarkets, play dates, the mall, restaurants, play grounds, soccer practice, hospitals, office, government buildings, palaces, etc. pointing to the ONE. Happy New Year dear fellow sweet sisters. May this be the glorious year of proclaiming the Word of God, by His grace and boldness He shall give/ equip us with, let us proclaim the Word that which will not return void but prosper in which God has sent to do. Amen.

  221. Dorothy says:

I’ve never read fully the Book of John, I’ve read bits and pieces — Scripture here and there and heard Scripture from it. I’m excited to study this Book of the Bible in depth. I can’t wait to start this “life-changing ministry and message of Jesus” journey with all of you, my sisters in Christ. To enrich, grow deeper, and rejoice in the LOVE and FAITH and LIGHT of God and Jesus.
Be blessed and let’s get ready to learn more about our Lord Jesus Christ and grow our FAITH.

  222. DeAnne Funk says:

Oh Melissa. I’m so sorry. Will be praying for your dad, and for your family.

  223. Melissa Moore says:

Please pray for my dad, stage 4 cancer. They’ve given him a few weeks to live.

  224. Alla Nykyforets says:

    ♥️

  225. Victoria E says:

Welcome Mary Bronson and all the new faces here/ old faces who are commenting for the first time! Mary I’m originally from Cleveland and my family is still there. I too have read John before but new things are standing out to me even in the first opening verses. Namely the mention of the light in the darkness after the Advent study we just completed. I am praying for peace this year for myself and for us all. Churchmouse I am praying for your family.

  226. Meredith Rea says:

Newcomer to she reads truth. Excited to get started in the book of John. It has always been one that God has spoken directly to me through. Hopeful for what He will share with me this study. His word never leaves me unchallenged! May we all be changed to be more like Him!!

  227. PamC says:

Welcome to all our new She’s. This starts my 9th year with SRT I think and the 2nd time through John. What a blessing to open to 130+ comments this morning. Wow! I’m praying for all the requests as I come across them, the teachers especially as my sister is also a teacher’s assistant in the Reno schools.
We’ve been talking about being a light & I saw there’s a new release from Passion Music called Shine Bight. I haven’t listened yet cuz I saw it as I was headed here, but thought I’d pass it along.
    Hugs & love y’all.

  228. Martha Echandy says:

    ❤️

  229. Daisy Webb says:

I usually go into the new year with excitement but also hesitation wondering “if I can do this?” But now going in the new year with God and not by my own might I feel so blessed that I found this community to learn and grow more in the Lord.

  230. Angela Roberge says:

Bonjour from Canada! This is my first SRT, and I’m super excited. ❤️

  231. Karen K says:

What a great start to this reading plan!

  232. Lindsey Millard says:

I’m excited to get into this study of John!

  233. Mary Snyder says:

John 1:16 (ESV) 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

God’s Grace to His people is continuous and is never exhausted. Grace knows no interruption and no limit.

  234. Desiree Bryner says:

What a wonderful way to re-center and start off 2022. The Advent book made the Christmas Season more meaningful. I look forward to spending some quality time with John.

  235. Katie Masterson says:

Good morning, SRT sisters! I’ve done these studies for a few years but have never been very active in the comments; I would read the comments and pray for you all, but never really comment myself. My word of the year is intentional, so I am planning to be more intentional with my SRT studies and my time in God’s Word, including making connections with other followers of Jesus. Looking forward to this time with you all!

  236. Samantha A says:

So excited for this study and to grow closer to you, my sisters in Christ from all over the globe. ♥️ Our God’s faithfulness, strength, and kindness are not limited by our circumstances or the brokenness of this world! May 2022 bring Him great glory and honor through our lives!

  237. Erica McCrae says:

    Looking forward to it

  238. Courtlyn Burgess says:

Happy new year! Excited to come and see and learn about Jesus with you all

  239. BeingABoden says:

Looking forward with a but of hesitation and yet anticipation of being back in God’s Word. My life has reflected my departure from being obedient in being with Him daily and I’ve struggled as a momma of 3 young kiddos to be the kind of mom and wife I pray to be. I have a lot of anxiety and anger issues and I pray being more obedient to spending time with God daily will help to soften and heal those places in my life.

  240. Rebecca Fuller says:

Good morning from the beautiful PNW! I’m so blessed to be with you all in this study of God’s Word. Let us each draw near to Christ this week in all we do. ❤️

  241. Jasmine Bluitt says:

Happy New Year. So excited to start this journey, this is my first SRT study guide!

  242. Foster Mama says:

I am extremely behind reading the comments for past several days…but,

TAMMY HICKS – I’m praying for you

(and any other person who’s request I have skimmed by name….and all of YOU as a whole, my sisters)

  243. Jane K says:

I am excited to start studying the book of John with all of you, and welcome to all those either just starting this community of women or long timers! I love John 1:16 For from his fullness we have all received grace upon grace. I had written in my Bible that grace is the good will of God towards us and the good work of God in us. May all my fellow “Shes” be filled with God’s grace.

  244. SEARCHING says:

Welcome to all the brand new and returning She’s! John is one of my favorite books and I’m looking forward to digging into it, and I am going to try to be consistent in listening to the weekly podcasts.

Continuing to pray for the health, surgery and healing requests (both physical and relationships).

And TAMMY HICKS, praying for the septic situation to be resolved quickly! We have dealt with issues in the past :( This may not have anything to do with your particular problem but look online for toilet paper test you do yourself. Not all septic safe paper will totally dissolve, even the most popular brands, and depending on your soil an annual pump out may be needed.

Making a more determined effort to guard my tongue in being critical to those close to me and to remember something I read years ago on another site – along the lines of words can be helpful or hurtful and to think about the effect of what you’re about say before the words escape as they cannot be grabbed and brought back.

TARA HYDE – for studying without the book, read along online or on app (daily devotionals aren’t in the books), listen to the weekly podcasts and use the comments to encourage and be encouraged. For some things, online is easier than the app – doing both this week as I am out of town and left study book at home

  245. Cindy Hanna says:

I’m loving how the subscription book is asking such focused questions about Jesus everyday. Can’t wait to meditate on HIS character, divinity and the “I am”statements. Just what I was needing to draw closer to the “Everlasting Light”.

  246. Erin Washburn says:

Praying that this year I will overcome the lure to have the desires of the world by substituting worldly habits (i.e. watching TV, scrolling SM, etc) with eternal habits…spending more time in God’s word everyday. Excited about this John study.

  247. Cindy Hanna says:

Oh how sweet to read that we who believe are born not by blood or by the will of man but by the will of God! What a joyous pronouncement and reminder that our lives here on this earth matter.

  248. Peyton Jacobs says:

SAME! I didn’t make it before the kiddos either, but finished with the children running around. Took a little longer but made it through a few books and learned something this morning ❤️

  249. Victoria Eades says:

    Loving this study!

  250. Victoria Eades says:

    Excited to start John!!

  251. Lexi B says:

This verse always gives me hope when things feel dark and hopeless: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5.
    What a beautiful promise!
John is seriously one of my favorite books of the Bible. So excited to read through it with SRT.

  252. Kristen Pulido says:

Wow nooooo clue how that posted 3 times….so sorry friends!

  253. Stacy Cassidy says:

So glad to join this community at the start of 2022. I’m excited to see what the book of John has for all of us.

  254. Mari V says:

I’m accepting the invitation to “come see Jesus up close!” And I didn’t even have to pay for it! He just wants US to come! I’m inviting others as well. I’m so glad to be here with you all as we draw closer to Jesus “together”.

  255. Joan Dynna says:

Oops hit post accidentally – also excited to join the SRT community.

  256. Joan Dynna says:

I enjoy the SRT podcasts so much so I’m going to make this my devotional for 2022 and I couldn’t be more thrilled than to start off with John which is probably my favourite of all books of the Bible. And also excited

  257. CeeGee says:

What a joy to read about The Light again this morning! RAECHEL set the stage perfectly with that devo.
Joining in praying for all the students, teachers and admin returning to school after the break – for wisdom and guidance in dealing with the challenges before them and that they appreciate their position of being a light in their community and let it shine.
Continued prayers for all, especially those recovering from the recent tornadoes/floods and fires.
Welcome to all new readers; you are in for a blessed time.

  258. Jennifer Nichols says:

Welcome! I have the same goal!

  259. Kimberly Silvernale says:

Well done Mama!! Way to do the hard work!!

  260. Lisa says:

Excited to read with SRT through the Bible. I pray that it will speak to me each day and I’ll not let life get in the way as I do often. My prayer is that I will become more like Christ and be a light for others.

  261. McKaela Taylor says:

The book of John is such a good one and I’m ready to dive in again!

  262. Maura says:

Take the time to read Russ Ramsey’s HRT this morning too. Here is a little of it. “But the message the prophets delivered, they did not accomplish. This sets Jesus Christ apart from all other prophets. When we look at Jesus, we see that He is both the messenger and the means of redemption. Prophets were only the bearers of God’s word, pointing to another who would ultimately fulfill those words. Jesus is the prophet who brought God’s message of sin and redemption, and is Himself the One who accomplished the salvation He and all the others proclaimed.” Praise God for the Word, the Truth and the Life, Jesus.

  263. Austine James says:

Hi everyone! I’ve had this app for years, but have never truly participated. My goal this year was to get up before my two toddlers & spend time with Jesus. I hit the snooze a couple times today, but I did it! Can’t wait for the rest of this study and to hopefully make some friends!

  264. Kathy A says:

Welcome to all the new Shes! Exciting to see so many new names. Reading in the morning before work (another teacher!) from Washington state. I am starting my second year of SRT and love this community, the devotions, the beautiful books and the do-able chunks of God’s word broken down to read and digest. I’ve never been in The Word as much as I am now and I love it. Speak to us Lord God, teach us and help us hide your word in our hearts.Amen

  265. Maura says:

I have always loved the book of John. Excited to dwell here with you all as we start a New Year. May God bless it and grow us closer to Him, our Light, and our Salvation. Love to your day Susters.

  266. Gretchen Odonnell says:

Wonderful chapter and associated readings. Thank you for your continued commitment to open our eyes to Jesus!

  267. Deb says:

So excited for this new study! I got the SRT Bible for Christmas and love it! It has a wonderful introduction to the Gospel of John;” The Gospel of John is different from the Synoptic Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, in that over 90% of its material is unique. John’s Gospel does not focus on the miracles, parables and public speeches that are prominent in the other accounts. Instead, John emphasizes the identity of Jesus as the Son of God and how we, as believers. Should respond to his teachings.”

  268. Tara Hyde says:

hi! I’m new to this community and just started today. I was confused and never saw the book of John to order, but got on subscription for the next book. For this book, how can I best study more in depth without the book?

  269. Rhonda J. says:

Wow, I’m late to the table this morning! 78 comments! Love that, always gives me such special joy to see an increase in numbers of women wanting to study the word and comment in this special, amazing group!!

Don’t forget there is a companion Podcast each Monday as well that is worth your time to listen to!

    Have a blessed day!

  275. Melissa S says:

I am new to SRT and this will be my first study. My prayer is that I will be able to understand the truth of God and my heart be transformed. ❤️

  276. Jennifer Loves Jesus says:

Praying the profound truth that Jesus Christ is the source of all there is changes our lives in ways the world threatens to keep the same. Safety is not the point of our existence. It’s a dangerous world out there and God needs us to be warriors for His Word. Because of His Word. We can be peacemakers going where there is no peace. Starting with our own heart. Our own families. Our littlest corner of the world can be the brightest one people see. Jesus, the Word, is “that light shining in the darkness, and yet the darkness DID NOT OVERCOME it”. Life is hard ladies, and I’m praying for the written and unwritten needs will be lifted off these screens and hearts, and move our Father in Heaven to answer in ways we need Him to, bring us His comfort and assurance where we may doubt. Lord, let the truth and light of Your Word guide us closer to You. Amen.

  277. Jessica Szeto says:

So excited to start this year in the word!

  278. Jill Warren says:

Hi Darcy! That is what my goal is too! I read an article the other day that said just 5 minutes a day with the Lord can change our lives.

  279. Gretchen Stencil says:

Excited to start off the year “seeing” Jesus up close. Thank you for this new study!

  280. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

“In the beginning was the word…” I love opening line that John gives in his gospel. Jesus, the living word, has been from the very beginning – and will always be! I’ve read the book of John many times but just noticed this verse in my reading this morning – John 1:9, the true Light gives light to every man coming into the world. Man is without excuse, God has given light to everyone, it is a choice that we make – whether to accept and embrace the Light or reject it. May all who are lost come to the Light – Jesus Christ, in this new year of 2022. May I be a light that shines brightly with the gospel, sharing it, spreading it, living it every single day – this is my prayer!

To all of you who are just starting – new to SRT – welcome! Be prepared to be blessed!

My prayers for all teachers and students who are returning back to school after this Christmas break. May each teacher be the light that shines for Him. May this year be far more better and blessed than the last. May God give you patience, wisdom, and love as you welcome your students back – and may they be accepting of it!

A blessed Monday to you all!

  281. Darcy Simpson says:

or and hour. He is so deserving of our time! My husband is also doing “He reads truth” and doing this plan with me. Excited to grow together with Him and have a community of ladies like all of you!

  282. Darcy Simpson says:

Day 1 of consistency in The Word and giving of my time to The Lord. Even if it’s only five minutes,

  283. Rhonda Wynn says:

Just prayed for your extended family, for healing and complete recoveries.♥️

  284. Becky Kortman says:

Praying that my husband grows deeper, closer to the Lord. He has miraculously saved my husband from death so many times…may my husband praise the Lord and tell others of His mercies and grace.

  285. Rebekah Picarelli says:

So excited to start my new year off right but getting in the word daily with all of you!

NICOLE QUEEN— What an amazing Christmas gift! I’ve used SRT on and off for a few years now, and just found out about the boxes in December. So glad to have you join us!

  288. Maria Baer says:

KELLY POTTER— Yeay! So happy that you are here!

  289. LeAnn Schmitt says:

Thankful to see all of you here this morning. Reading this opening chapter of John reaffirms the renewed hope I feel after doing the Advent study. Jesus is the light, the Word, the Lamb of God (all in John 1). Praying for all of the requests noted. We have the hope, we don’t need to fear.

  290. Maria Baer says:

CASSIE HOLLINGSWORTH— Welcome! So glad you are joining us!

  292. Maria Baer says:

MARY BRONSON— Welcome! So glad you joined us! You will find not only wonderful Bible studies, but also a supportive and encouraging community. So happy to have you!

  293. Maria Baer says:

I was so happy last night when I saw that the new study would be on John. I started doing a study on John, through my church, the day after Christmas and I am loving it so much, especially the prologue because John goes right into it— “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” I love this opening because it immediately goes to the omnipresence of God, connecting the dots to the Creation, to God sending his son Jesus— His only son yet full of humanity, and to the future when the kingdom of God will come.” My prayer for us is that we are fully present, as we give the first fruits of our faith to God. Be blessed, SRT sisters.

  294. Tara Tumelson says:

For 2022 my focus is to build my relationship with Jesus. I didn’t know where to start so I downloaded this SRT app and purchased the first reading plan of 2022. How perfect to begin my relationship with Jesus by learning who He is through reading the book of John! ♥️

  295. Leslie Rudzinski says:

Prayers for my children in 2022. May this year and our Jesus change their lives in ways unimaginable and all for His glory.

  296. Breiahna Garroutte says:

I am so happy to be beginning this study & listening to what God has in store to teach! Heading into this year as a subscriber of SRT and my heart is so excited!

  297. Jennifer Martin says:

Thank You God for Your grace and truth!

  298. Darcy King says:

We can all relate to your current situation in one way or another @Amber E. We’re with your each day as we read truth, praying for one another.

  299. Meghan Scherer says:

I love the reminder at the end of today’s reading and again in the verses in Hebrews, that no one has seen God BUT He is revealed in Jesus. Thank you Father for sending your son that we may know You through Him. I pray I remember this while studying the life of Jesus through John this month.

  300. Candice Woodruff says:

I’ve really enjoyed the SRT Bible studies (since last June I think -whenever This is the New Testament was), but it’s this community that keeps me coming back for more. Community is something that has been harder to come by in these last 2 years. I think it has forced us to think outside the box, but with God’s help and faithfulness this community has flourished. I’m grateful to be a part of it with you ladies ❤️

  301. Jessica Rushing says:

Good morning from Illinois! I am so looking forward to studying John with this community!

  302. Darcy King says:

We can all relate to your current situation in one way orna

  303. Sarah Adams says:

Loving linking arms with you ladies to storm Heaven’s gates and arm ourselves with Truth. I don’t always comment, but I always read through and pray for you sisters. Especially excited to welcome all you new gals — it’s a special place here in this community! ❤️ Holding tight to this promise this morning from Isaiah 55:11, “so my word that comes from my mouth will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.”

  306. Lauren Ruhe says:

Kathy, prayers for you and your students as you all return to school this week. ♥️

  307. Lauren Ruhe says:

I’m looking forward to digging into John. It’s been a while (if ever) that I think I’ve studied this book. I pray these next few weeks are fruitful for us all. ♥️

Kathy, many prayers on your return to school, and for all those returning to or remaining in uncertainty. Two years into this and it feels more exhausting than ever.

  308. Charlie says:

Happy New Year, friends! I love the book of John. It’s so beautifully poetic. I find myself needing to read it aloud, to taste the words, much like Psalms. Anyway, I’m looking forward to it!

Churchmouse, prayers for your family members who are battling Covid right now. I’m feel a bit anxious about returning to the classroom next week, just as the surge will peak here in the southeast. And yet after that wonderful advent study, I feel so much more hopeful, with so many vivid images of the light in the darkness! Thanks, SRT!

  309. K D says:

The Advent study really hit home to me with the emphasis on Jesus as Light of the World. So today just solidified that realization for me – life is Light. He came to bring Light to everyone in the world. My prayer for 2022 is that I might be a reflection of that light.

  310. Colleen Fiant says:

    Love the book of John

  311. Colleen Fiant says:

  314. Munchkin says:

Amber E-I know what it is like to doubt other people. May God show you that despite what may have happened in the past, some people really are genuine.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for my sleep. I didn’t sleep as much as I would have liked, but I did sleep better than I had.

Welcome to everyone who is joining for the first time.

I love knowing that Jesus was there in the beginning. I also enjoyed the references to Jesus as the light. He is the light in the darkness. That means He gets how dark this world can feel sometimes, which I find comforting, because He doesn’t leave us there.

  315. Nicole Queen says:

My husband got me the SRT box for Christmas! This is my first time doing the study with everyone! Im so excited.
What a great time I had this morning reading week 1 – day 1.

  318. Kristen Dill says:

This is my first SRT study, and I am so excited to have such a wonderful guide to help me dive deeper into the Word. I have needed this for years and have neglected the Lord… thankful that He waits and meets me where I am with open arms! I am excited to get to know Jesus better through this study!

  319. Churchmouse says:

Over the past two weeks 9 extended family members have come down with Covid. None have required hospitalization so far. 3 however are struggling significantly at home. This pandemic has brought much uncertainty, fear, anger, exhaustion and a profound awareness of man’s mortality. How timely that we read the book of John. Though the pandemic has ushered in a darkness we couldn’t anticipate in our lifetime, we are not alone and we are not without hope. May more and more come to recognize Him for Who He is and what He promises. And that this life is not all there is.

  320. Amber E says:

I’m coming here in the midst of a battle. I have felt so distant from God since March 2020. Right now, my faith is being tempted with cynical thoughts of others and questioning their genuineness. And yet, I still have a seat I couldn’t have ever afforded on my own. I can’t wait to dig into John with y’all!

  321. Deborah Ferris says:

Grateful for these words this morning as I head back to work after a couple weeks off. Looking forward to the days ahead!

  322. Melanie says:

Excited to be here today and hear from our Jesus

I am excited to start this study. As @Nessa said, I have also started to do these devotional in the morning before school. It was hard at first to wake up early but now I love the uninterrupted time with God. I pray he helps me to show others his light through my actions.

  329. Neesa Wharton says:

SRT was my lifeline to God in 2021 when I experienced upheaval in my life. He transformed me into a morning person through it all, something I was never able to manage in my own. He was faithful to hear and answer my prayers. I’m looking forward to a sweet of “in the word every day.” Thank you Jesus for all you’ve done and are doing in my life.

  330. Neesa Wharton says:

That was me for several years. I hadn’t completed a single study until 2021, which was a crazy year of upheaval in my life. SRT became my lifeline and the books became my journals to pour out my fears and hopes to God. He was faithful to hear and answer my prayers. Last year I completed all but the first book in January. God used that year to transform me into a morning person, desperate to hear from him. I will pray for you today that He would do the same for you in 2022. Carve out a specific time for SRT, try your best to stick to it, but most of all…come expecting to hear from him each day.

  331. Gretchen Cropsey says:

Happy New Year! I’m so ready to dig into John! I love how God works through his word. I’m noticing so many connections between yesterday’s church service and our SRT study. Love when THIS happens!

  342. Kelley Fuller says:

Excited to begin the journey through John with all of you! Blessings from Northwest Florida!

  343. Anna Shamery says:

As I head back to teach today, I was reminded that like John the Baptist, our purpose is to point others toward Jesus. May I always care more about how people see Jesus than how they see me.

  344. Alicia DuBois says:

Been looking forward to this study!

  345. Angie says:

Kathy – We go back today also, with students on Tuesday. The school our son teaches at returns, students and teachers both, today.

Faithful Father and Friend, thank you that we are never alone, that You are with us; your children. I pray a special blessing over Kathy and the students in her high school as they prepare for the return. May the Light and Life You represent penetrate her spirit, saturating her and overflowing to those around her. Strengthen and prepare her for each day. Cover her with your armor from head to toe Lord God and may she be blessed in her service of you for such a time as this. She does not realize the young adult lives searching for hope that will get a glimpse of it, of You Lord God, in who she is daily in that classroom, the teacher’s lounge, the hallway, everywhere. I pray these blessings over Kathy. I pray purpose and peace for her students.
I ask the same power and presence upon my son at his elementary/junior high combination school, and for the students returning today. Give wisdom, discernment, and bless him as he steps forward in faith for You.
I pray this prayer for each and every teacher and student entering or preparing to enter back into the classroom. May 2022 be a year where the Light of Your great Love shines brightly in our schools. In reverence we recognize that You Lord God are our hope, peace, and provision. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we ask these things. Amen.

  346. Vicki Loucks says:

Greetings from Pittsburgh! Looking forward to this study with all of you!

The verse “we have all received grace upon grace from his fullness” jumped out to me today!

May we pour out this grace to others on faith’s journey.

SISSY – praying for your friend and her husband’s upcoming open heart surgery.

EMILY DAFOE – praying that your husband’s colonoscopy reveals no cancer, and his doctors can gain insight as to what the problem is.

TAMMY HICKS – what a mess! Praying the septic issue is quickly and completely resolved for you

  348. Ellen says:

Good morning and happy Nee Year! I am excited to begin this study with all of you. Thank you for your faithfulness through these studies. Your prayers, encouragements and insights inspire me to come along each morning and dig deeper into God’s word. Have a blessed day! Looking forward to tomorrow. ❤️

  349. Angie says:

From the Advent celebration of the birth of our Savior, to the study of John…perfect transition.

Blessings ladies as we step forward together. May our hearts soak in the wonder and awe of Jesus. And, as we are saturated or squeezed, may the living water of our God wet the world around us with the Hope of Jesus.

    ERB – love your joy!

  350. Kathy says:

I love the gospel of John and I’m so excited to begin the year studying it.
One thing that stood out to me this morning was John’s discussion with the priests and Levites sent from Jerusalem. They wanted to know who he was. I love that John knew exactly who he wasn’t – not the Messiah, not the Prophet – and exactly who he was – a voice crying in the wilderness.
I pray that I will always have a clear picture of who I am – a child of the Most High King sent to be a voice in the wilderness – and who I am not – I am not God.
Have a blessed day. I am a high school teacher. Please pray for all of us going back to school today. Students come Wednesday.

  351. Cari Neely says:

I’m so excited to read John with the She Reads Truth community! ❤️

  352. ERB says:

Loved the narrative and analogy that the concert gave!! The admiration, the expectancy, the doubt, the waiting, the joy, the welcome, the abundance of blessings, ALL of it!!! Such a great reminder to always “Come and See”.

Be Blessed today dear sisters, listen for His voice and obey what He’s telling you (no matter how small or silly it is) your life is impacting others and representing God and who He is!!

    Much Love ❤️

  353. Mary Ann Graves says:

What a wonderful way to start the new year by studying John

  354. Dominique says:

I’m so glad I was led to this blog last week and am excited to be starting this bible study plan. This was a great opening!

  355. Arina says:

Come and see! The gospels, no all of Scripture, invites us to come closer, to see who our God is. By gazing at it’s beauty, God’s beauty, it will accomplish what it was sent for me. We will start to look more and more like the One we read about.

  356. Blessed Beth says:

As I sit here reading the scriptures and into oh the peace and presence of our Lord beckoning me is so real. Thank you!

  357. Michelle W says:

I am so ready for this study, thank you for these beautiful tools!
