As we explore different promises found in the Old Testament, we begin with the New Testament assurance that “no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ” (2Co 1:20 NIV). Jesus himself, God who came in the flesh, “is before all things,” including the promises made in the Old Testament. It is through Him that all things hold together (Col 1:17).
Jesus Himself affirmed that the promises in the Old Testament find their fulfillment in Him, “beginning with Moses and all the prophets” (Lk 24:27). And as those living on the other side of Jesus’s resurrection, we get to look at the whole of Scripture and see that we follow a “faithful God who keeps his gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations” (Dt 7:9). So as you read the Old Testament promises this week, join with us in saying “‘Amen’ to the glory of God” that they find their ultimate fulfillment in Christ (2Co 1:20).

I don’t think I’ve ever considered the Old Testament when reflecting on Christ’s death and resurrection. I’ve only ever thought about what that meant for those who lived after. It’s so eye opening to think about all that happened in the Old Testament, and how His death took care of all that too.
I was in a class at my church and the person teaching kept saying this: The Old Testament is Christ concealed. The New Testament is Christ revealed.

His word is true and trustworthy. When he says he will be with us until the end of the age he means it.
He is always faithful. Help me surrender my life to you oh God, and lay it all at your feet. You have shown time and time again your faithfulness to your people, you will fulfill all the promises you have for me. Amen.

**This is only my own opinion**but I’ve always wondered if the darkness, earthquakes and rocks splitting at the Crucifixion were God giving us a glimpse of “all things” NOT holding together for just a moment in time. (Matt 27)

I grew up in church and have heard these promises all of my life! But, going back and making those connections between Old and New establishes those promises in my heart so much more to see those connections come full circle and God fulfill His promises from the beginning of time!

It always amazes me when I hear a story or read it from the Old Testament and then see it again from Jesus mouth in the new. The full circle month in my head clicks. His promises were made 100s of years before He stepped foot on this earth and how grateful I am!!

I am thankful to serve a God who is “compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth, maintaining love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion and sin,” (Exodus 34:6-7). I am thankful that we get to hold that and that we don’t have to make a bed in our shame, because we were created for Him and His glory. Nothing we could ever do will cause him to stop loving us.
You come before us and you hold it all together. What a promise.
Imagine what it must have been like to hear Jesus explain all prophecy of the Old Testament (Luke 24:27) and so interesting that the disciples still didn’t recognize him until he broke the bread. And then he vanished?! Right in front of them?! Every translation uses “vanished” or “disappeared,” imagine you finally recognize Jesus speaking to you after his resurrection and the moment your eyes are opened to who he is, he vanishes! But not before giving them deeper understanding of who is is and how he fulfilled the ot scriptures.

I’ve heard said before when we read God’s Word and a verse speaks directly to us, that is a “kiss from the King”. To have knowledge of Jesus is the greatest gift and a great privilege I don’t want to take for granted. I’m thankful to be here!

It’s so powerful to see how all of God’s promises find their fulfillment in Christ. Today’s reading reminded me that even when I don’t see the full picture, God is always working out His plan. It’s such a comforting reminder that His faithfulness is constant.
It truly is powerful and comforting that He takes all the good and the not so good to grow us for our good. We know we have victory though Jesus Chris our savior and redeemer.

I’m so grateful for God’s steadfast love. I feel like my faith has had seasons of waxing and waning and I’m grateful that he loves me anyway.
I’m grateful to be studying the promises of God. Sometimes, I truly need to remind myself that He is with me, because He promises He is.

GOOD morning and HAPPY Monday sweet She’s! Our school has the day off for President’s Holiday and next Monday as well. Any day off, I’ll take as it gives me a little extra time to sleep and rest. AND of course I take advantage to spend it with my kiddos. I know I’m going to love this platform as we have done this in the past, giving us time to read, reflect, respond, pray for one another and I love learning from ALL of you! I know our God says “YES” and I hope it’s OK to say that sometimes, it’s “no” or “wait” or “not yet” Our Father God (daddy) knows best for us, His children so sometimes for our best we may have to wait or the answer is no as it’s in HIS best interest that it would be that way. So in many ways it’s still YES as we trust in His promises! And I TRUST Him!

The Truth I am Standing On by Leanna Crawford. Love it and have it on repeat.
Please pray for my family. As we roll into the first anniversary of losing my husband we are overwhelmed with the anticipatory grief of the actual dates. From March 6th (date of death) to Match 21 (the date his body was found [he drowned in a river]), to the date we received his body back from GBI, to April 1 (the anniversary of our son’s death – 11 years this year), to the date of the services (which were on the 10th anniversary of our son’s) to April 6th (our son’s birthday). It’s a trauma packed month!!! We are all struggling our own way.
Oh Faith, I was already thinking the first anniversary is coming up for you and your family. Praying for the peace and comfort God will fill you with even in the grief. Wish we could all be there with you! But also, you are such a testimony to all that know you!!

I know our focus is God’s promises, but this section of Colossians stood out to me today.

We just finished Exodus in Sunday School. Remembering how God’s FULLNESS filled the tabernacle, the phrase “FULLNESS… in CHRIST” really resonated with me.

The Lord’s Glory Fills the Tabernacle
Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle.

I’m excited to start this study. Today’s reading makes me realize God is consistent, always has been, always will be. He knows the challenges we face and he goes before us. I need this reminder as I walk alongside my brother battling cancer. Today he will be assessed to see if he should be admitted to the hospital for IV nutrition because he is currently starving to death and the doctors don’t seem to see this. We are at a crossroads and I need God to open a door for BJ today and make the next steps so clear. I would appreciate your prayers. Thank you:)

The devo points out that “we get to look at the whole of Scripture” and I started thinking (hubby would say that’s scary!). I’ve been critical of all the mistakes and poor choices of the folks in Genesis, asking why would they do that?
But – would I, could I, have made better choices in those situations, with the sinful nature I have and with the knowledge they had?
I do have the whole of Scripture at my fingertips and my heart breaks thinking about my past sins, especially knowing I will continue to sin while here on earth. Praying for guidance in words and actions, thankful for His grace, compassion and forgiveness.

Can you please explain a little about the difference between promise and principle?
Kezia, a principle is an accepted or professed rule of action or conduct. For example if you do “this”, ” this” will probably happen. …if you train up a child in the way he should, he’ll probably ( but not necessarily) return to it when he is older. Versus, A promise, – a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen. Example – “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Which is true and God will honor that promise.

Yes. I am praying today that as Christ walks beside me and others that I and they will immediately see Him and know He is there. Specifically praying this for my children who are walking apart from the faith, stumbling around in darkness and unbelief. Praying they will look beside them and see Yeshua there and recognize Him immediately!
