The Light of the World

John 7:53, John 8:1-30, Isaiah 60:19-22, 1 John 1:5-7, 1 John 2:8

Scripture Reading: John 7:53, John 8:1-30, Isaiah 60:19-22, 1 John 1:5-7, 1 John 2:8

There’s nothing my kids love more than coming up with all sorts of silly games and productions to delay bedtime. I mean, truly, these kids don’t ever want to go to bed.

Lately, the game of choice is one created by my eight-year-old, called The Dark Game. The Dark Game consists of the whole family going into a room in the house, closing the blinds or curtains, unplugging the nightlights, and closing the door. The object of the game? Simply walk around in the dark for as long as possible without running into each other.

As you might imagine, chaos ensues. And usually, around the three- to five-minute mark, someone gets hurt. Yet we continue to play because…fun! Right?

I’m guessing most of us probably feel like we’ve played The Dark Game at some point in our own lives. I know I have. We walk around in what feels like the dark, trying so hard to figure out where we should go and what we should do without any real direction. Maybe some of us even feel like our world right now is just one big experience of The Dark Game—directionless, dark, and void of light or purpose.

Sometimes I forget the simple answer to this problem: turning on the Light.

When we read John 8 today, we see a woman being scorned and accused for what she has done in the dark. The accusers? Religious people who are happy to make the dark deeds of others public but not their own. However, Jesus said something different.

“I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
—John 8:12

Isn’t it awesome and freeing to know that because of the light of our Savior, we don’t have to hide anymore? We don’t have to stumble around in the darkness, trying desperately to avoid mistakes and keep our pasts or true selves hidden. Instead, we’re welcomed as sons and daughters and given the chance to walk daily with the Light of life despite our imperfections.

I love how Isaiah refers to our God as an “everlasting light” (Isaiah 60:19). It’s a reminder that His battery never runs out or needs to be recharged. It means our sin and shame no longer have to keep us in the darkness. We can lay them all before the feet of Jesus.

And this everlasting light means that we won’t find ourselves alone in darkness without a helper to lead us along the way.

    [Verse 1]
    A thousand times I’ve failed
    Still Your Mercy remains
    Should I stumble again
Still I’m caught in Your Grace
    Everlasting
Your Light will shine when all else fades
    Never ending
Your Glory goes beyond all fame

    [Verse 2]
    Your Will above all else
    My purpose remains
    The art of losing myself
    In bringing You praise
    Everlasting
Your Light will shine when all else fades
    Never ending
Your Glory goes beyond all fame, yeah

    [Refrain]
In my heart, in my soul
    Well, I give You control
Consume me from the inside out, Lord
    Let justice and praise
    Become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

JT Walt says that when Jesus spoke to the woman caught in adultery, ” Go now and leave your life of sin.” Jesus said this to here. There was no one else around to hear it. Jesus sets us free from the penalty of sin, and, even better, he sets us free from the power of sin. That’s the rest of the gospel-we can actually leave our sin.” JT Walt

“There are two mega movements at play in the gospel of John: darkness to light and death to life. Water to wine. Paralyzed man walks. Jesus heals the son of the Roman overlords of darkness. He walks into the darkness of a Samaritan wildness and into the life of a woman gripped by the shadows of shame. Don’t forget Nicodemus who came to Jesus secretly in the dark of night as a sign of his nascent readiness to break ranks with the darkness of religious control, break free from the death grip of legalism, and walk into the light of life.

Behold the stunning sweep of the gospel. Darkness and death give way to light and life. This is what God does, because that is who God is. And it is all coming together into the brilliant resplendence of a thousand suns in the face of Jesus Christ.” JT Walt

  7. Mercy says:

The things that stood out to me today:
1-“Neither do I condemn you; go, and sin no more” (John 8:11). Mercy first: neither do I condemn you, then Truth next: go and sin no more. Forgiveness doesn’t mean permission to continue sinning. His words invited this daughter into a new life of holiness. Love does not rejoice or condone in wrong doing/wrong living. Don’t adapt the culture viewpoint. The misunderstanding of grace nowadays has led many onto the paths of destruction. Grace does not mean sins don’t matter because Jesus paid for it all. He said “SIN NO MORE”. Don’t use grace as a license to stay in unrepentant sin.
2- “If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth” (1 John 1:6). This is a powerful verse that cuts through the issue of authentic versus superficial Christianity. Either hot, cold, lukewarm (hint: God does not want us cold or lukewarm). Walking in darkness = walking in sin, deception having a habitual lifestyle of sin (parked there, not just drive through), being separated from God’s commandments = the lifestyle of self deception while keeping the public image of “fellowship”. Many modern believers confuse “belief” with “fellowship”. God wants fellowship from us. What is practicing truth? Claiming faith and living according to God’s words. Notice truth is not just professed, but MUST be practiced (lived out). One must apply God’s Truth to their daily choices, not just agreeing mentally. “Everyone who does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God” (John 3:21), notice truth again is done, not just spoken. Faith without righteous action is dead and useless. “You believe that there is one God. You do well; even the demons believe—and tremble!” (James 2:19). God does not entertain liars. He won’t be mocked. “You know that wicked people will not inherit the kingdom of God, don’t you? Stop deceiving yourselves!”( 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Repent. Come clean. Confess. There is still time. Do what we must, but stop deceiving ourselves that it’s okay to remain in sin. Jesus foresaw this, “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord,’ … and I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you’” Matthew 7:22–23. Many, not few, shows that this deception is widespread, even in the church.
3- So where do we go from here? Come back to our first love. Don’t pitch your tent near Sodom and Gomorrah. Pack and leave. Flee far from sin. Take heed of the warning, “Yet I hold this against you: you have left your first love” (Revelation 2:4). He is talking to the church here, not unbelievers. The Church in Laodicea, self-satisfied and lukewarm, “You say, ‘I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing’ Revelation 3:14-22. “Because you are lukewarm, I will spit you out of My mouth”. What does that mean? Self-deception is the final stage before rejection. Yet… Jesus still pleads in mercy, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock… If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in”. Be willing to return. Repent. Come back to the Father. He will run to meet you while you’re still yet a long way off, He will embrace you, He will say “quick, bring the best robe… put a ring on her finger and sandals on her feet…for this daughter of mine was dead and is alive again, she was lost, and is found”, He will throw a feast of celebration to rejoice in you. Praise Him for His mercy endures forever.
    .
    Be blessed dear sisters.

Happy Friday sweet She’s! The Dark Game reminded me of a game we played at a youth retreat, I just can’t remember the name, but sure was fun! LOVE (and even posted on IG) “We don’t have to stumble around in the darkness, trying desperately to avoid mistakes and keep our pasts or true selves hidden. INSTEAD, we’re welcomed as son’s and daughter’s and given the chance to walk daily with the Light of life despite our (MY) imperfections.” God is SO good! Wish I could say I slept well, but I didn’t. Had SO much to do yesterday after work, as we head out of town for the weekend for my sweet friend’s son’s wedding! Pray for safe travels as I’m tired and excited at the same time!

I was just talking to my husband last night about light vs darkness. It all started with halloween. I have not liked this holiday since I was a kid. I also don’t understand the new way of doing church. So dark. Why?? I left a church because it didn’t feel right to me. I found a church I love that is full of light and natural sunlight. What a difference, at least for me. It is peaceful and not chaotic feeling. The darkness felt uneasy to me. The music was too loud. It felt like a production. I want simple Godly Biblical teaching.

    1. Deb says:

Totally agree! For same reason we are looking for a new church after 30 plus years..thirsty for Biblical sound teaching.

    2. Lisa H says:

My church is like that, but we sit outside in the amphitheatre with large screens with lots of families and their dogs. I know they’ve explained that the darkness is so that people having emotional moments, tears streaming, can have privacy during the worship. Not saying I agree, just giving their reasoning.
Glad you have found a church that’s a better fit!

    3. Mercy says:

100% agree. We don’t celebrate Halloween either. My son was afraid when the school played halloween movies at break time, and put skeletons around, and he came home with fear and had nightmares. Praise God that we were able to switch school. Praise God for schools that align with light, truth, and not celebrating death spirit.

    4. Indiana Elaine says:

I totally agree with you about dark churches. I could never understand the reasoning. I remember saying to my husband, “Jesus is the light of the world, I don’t understand the darkness. “

    5. Sandi says:

I don’t get the dark churches either. I won’t go to one. Why close the curtains?what’s the big secrecy?

    6. Sandi says:

I took my son out of school on Halloween. Eventually we homeschooling him. We had a pastor that took our youth group to a haunted forest as an outing. We didn’t let Chris go. The pastor wasn’t happy, but,o well. Churches have no business celebrating Halloween. It’s not biblical.

  11. Cee Gee says:

    1 John 2:8b-
For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining.

    From He Reads Truth:
As we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, the Light of the World shines on us and shines for us. …
The light of Christ shows us how to live with Him. “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105).

Light of The World Medley | Shane & Shane (from recent animated movie).

I have never heard this song before and it has a Christmas vibe, but fits here, too. Partial lyrics:
Light of the world by We the People
    Treasure of Heaven
    Brilliant like the stars
    In the wintery sky

    Joy of the Father
    Reach through the darkness
    Shine across the earth
    Send the shadows to flight

    Light of the World
    From the beginning
    The tragedies of time
Were no match for Your love

    From great heights of glory
    You saw my story
    God You entered in
    And became one of us
    Sing Hallelujah
    Sing Hallelujah
    Sing Hallelujah
For the things He has done
    Come and adore Him
    Bow down before Him
    Sing Hallelujah
To the Light of the World

Light of the World – Another ‘new to me’ song, but earlier Lauren Daigle.

    Last one:
Light of the World by Chris Tomlin, another from a Christmas album! Sisters, let’s not wait till Christmas to sing HALLELUJAH to the Light if the world for all He has done, is doing, and will do!

  12. Michelle P says:

    Hey Shes!
Can you please pray for me? I am in between jobs – I know the Lord has a plan for me. I left the cafe I was working at in faith that God has a new direction for me. I am doing Instacart in the meantime to get some income, and I live at my parents, so I am okay. But I do believe God is guiding me to find a job that will allow me to move out in the nearer future. I know He has a plan, but I am just asking for prayer that I have faith to follow and heed His voice! I recently just tried out a restaurant but it was not a culture I felt was a healthy environment. My industry is hospitality (and what I’m feeling led to do is look for a higher end server job. Thank you :)

    1. Sandi says:

I will pray that you’ll find the perfect job

In Him there is no darkness at all. That hymn is running through my head, but that seems to be the only line I can remember.
    .
Not a bad line, though! ❤️

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Is this it, Adrienne?
God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all!
Oh, how we love within His presence to dwell!
In this light we enjoy a constant cleansing within—
      From every sin!

      Sisters: In the light,
      Brothers: We are walking—
      Sisters: Fellowship,
      Brothers: We’re enjoying;
      Sisters: And the blood
      Brothers: Of God’s Son
Everyone: Is cleansing us from sin.

      Sisters: We confess,
      Brothers: He is faithful
      Sisters: To forgive—
      Brothers: He is righteous.
      Sisters: What a joy!
      Brothers: We are cleansed
      Everyone: From every sin!

      1. Adrienne says:

Nope… I found it! I looked it up and found it in my hymn book… “I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light” by Kathleen Thomerson

1 I want to walk as a child of the light.
        I want to follow Jesus.
God set the stars to give light to the world.
The star of my life is Jesus.
        Refrain:
In him there is no darkness at all.
The night and the day are both alike.
The Lamb is the light of the city of God.
Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.
2 I want to see the brightness of God.
I want to look at Jesus.
Clear sun of righteousness, shine on my path,
and show me the way to the Father. [Refrain]
3 I’m looking for the coming of Christ.
I want to be with Jesus.
When we have run with patience the race,
we shall know the joy of Jesus. [Refrain]

  14. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

When I read the account of this woman “caught in her sin” and see the reaction of Jesus, the first thing that comes to mind is – compassion. He didn’t condemn her, He didn’t judge her. He addressed her sin and lovingly gave her opportunity to repent.
He was more concerned that she turn from her darkness and see the light of His love.
    .
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone…ouch! How many times am I ready to “throw the stone” because of someone else’s sin – yet fail to see my own sin? Oh that I would see others through the eyes of Jesus and not my own!
    .
The Light of the world is Jesus!
He will be your everlasting Light.
    No more night!
    No more sorrow!
    Isaiah 60:19-22 – much similar to Revelation 21:23-25 & 22:3-5
    No need for the sun!
    No need for the moon!
The glory of God gives light!
    No more night!
    No need for a lamp!…
For the Lord God will give them light. Hallelujah and Amen!

Here I Am To Worship is the song that came to my mind today…
    .
Light of the world, You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes, let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You
And here I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days, oh, so highly exalted
    Glorious in Heaven above
Humbly You came to the earth You created
All for love’s sake became poor
And here I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
And I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
No, I’ll never know how much it cost
Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me
And here I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful, wonderful, wonderful
    Yes, You are, God
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

May we walk in the light of Jesus today!

  15. Wendy B says:

What a sweet reminder these verses are to me this morning that Jesus is THE Light in the darkness. I love the verse from 1 John 1:5 in the CSB version ‘This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him.’ The word “absolutely” is just so definitive and certain. And then from HRT, this thought followed by one of my favorite verses, “The light of Christ shows us how to live with Him. “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path” Psalm 119:10.
The darkness of the world in all its forms can be so hard, hopeless and suffocating but praise the Lord, He is the Light for all to see and that we can walk with Him as our Savior and have fellowship with Him.

We are off on a shorter road trip this weekend to a part way in betweeen location to meet up with our daughter, her husband and our sweet grandson, Jack. We will be taking my elderly (90 yrs old) with us and my Mom & her husband will meet us as well. It will be a precious time for them all to meet their first greatgrandson. Please pray for safe travels for all(we do drive through a mountain pass where there is already snow) and also that the travels will be manageable for our elderly parents. Thank you❤️

    1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Prayers for safe travels – enjoy that precious little one!

The story of the woman to be stoned is strongly associated with Jesus, love, forgiveness.

Does anyone else’s Bible reference John 7:53-8:11 as not being part of original Greek manuscripts?

    1. Wendy B says:

Yes, my NIV (1982 copyright) and my ESV (2008) Study Bible both make note of that as well.

  17. Maddie Hodgett says:

Wow! When I was a kid my friends and I played “The Dark Game”, it was essentially the same thing except more like tag, where someone was “it”

  18. Rhonda J. says:

I am thinking of and missing our sweet Dorothy! I can see all her excited, capital letters…JESUS IS OUR LIGHT…LIVE WITH THAT LIGHT…THANK JESUS, THANK YOU GOD, AND THANK YOU HOLY SPIRIT!!!
She was a jewell, a bright light indeed!

    1. Lisa H says:

      Yes! ♥️♥️♥️

    2. Mercy says:

      She really was. Sweet Dorothy.

  19. Rhonda J. says:

    GM She’s!

I was happy to see the title today, “The Light of the world!” I use the light truth a lot in ministry and testimonies! Not only is it a great analogy like Abby Flynn put in her devotional, but it is a literal truth. He IS light. Not like light, but THE light.
Sometimes it is evident when we are in the dark- misery, depression, sneaking and hiding, shame. But other times- know those people that don’t even realize that they are in a life of “darkness?” Was that us–Yes! And even as Christians now, we can go through dark seasons, where it seems to shut out our light.

But Jesus—He is the light, and when we have him, we will/should shine. Even if…things aren’t going as we would like, Even if we don’t feel it. Even if, because we have been given mercy by God sending this light into the dark, hopeless world. The plan of redemption- He has made a way. Restoration!
With going to a place of darkness each week, I truly see physically, the impact and change that receiving Jesus can do for women that have been sent to jail. They come in so broken and lost. And after they get in the word, praise and worship, and prayer….the light penetrates and it displays on them. The light to the eyes, the smile, the mannerisms. The defenses lifting, the smile and laughter, and joy comes! The same is true in many ministries, and that is why it is good to be a part of one and serve. Because you are like the flashlight, shining your love and light on them! And we, the hands and feet of Jesus, need to be more apparent in this love.
One of my butterflies calls me her sunshine. What a great compliment! I want to be more sunshine to people. Especially to my husband. Rather than become grumpy and crabby with him, I want to stay bright and shining the good fruits I have. So when he speaks of me or thinks of me he has joys and warm fuzzies, and can’t help but want to love on me back! lol. (sounds good in theory, right!haha) But lets give it a 100 percent effort. It does change the atmosphere! Our light is like a thermostat in that way! We want to change our environment!

Let’s be the light today for those we encounter! Every Day.

Oh- The Adulterous Woman! Gotta to mention that one!!! This is so fundamental to our witness! We all have shame! We all have sin. Some gets to stay in the dark to the world, but God sees it all. But when it is brought to light, there can be embarrassment, guilt, and self-destruction. But Jesus- He says we all have sin and shame. That he forgives it, BUT to recognize it is In HIM enough to not want to stay in our sin. To want to change our ways. A love given to us, a mercy, that we never forget it! It should mean THAT MUCH to us! It took me a long time to realize that in my walk. I wasn’t living as a woman that got saved from a terrible, horrific — could have been stoning. I wonder how she did? Will we meet her in heaven one day? What if we don’t change and stay in that sin? Does it make Jesus weep. Will the light be put out completely from turning it off? Can it be turned off? We see so called Crhistians all the time living in a sinful lifestyle as they go to church every week. Did they truly receive the light? Only God knows our hearts I guess.

Have a lovely day She’s! Thank you for chronic pain prayers.
    @Mari V–hoping you have a beautiful trip!
    Praying for the requests!

    1. Lynne from Alabama says:

I too remember Dorothy and Churchmouse and several others that are no longer here. I miss them and their wisdom! Praying for your chronic pain and for our other sisters that suffer with the same.

      1. Kat D says:

Churchmouse: “Jesus reminds us all have sinned and worthy of death. Go and sin no more.” “Jesus spoke truth in love to the Pharisees, though they may not receive it as such.” From this readings comments last time we did John in 2022.

    2. Wendy B says:

What a bright light the Lord is using you to be Rhonda, in the dark confines of jail. May the Lord be lifted high as you point these precious butterflies to the True Light of the World.❤️

      1. Rhonda J. says:

It is truly a testimony to see them praising and worshiping God each week, and participating in the lessons. I wouldn’t trade this highlight of my week for anything!!

    3. Mercy says:

You are our sunshine here as well Rhonda. The joy and enthusiasm always shines through in your posts ♥️♥️♥️.

  20. Mae says:

Ok, me again. I’ve been bothered by the notion that only the man was brought to Jesus, so I poked around and found a commentary that noted Mosaic Law required BOTH to be brought/stoned – so they had disregarded the Law themselves in trying to trap Jesus. Their hypocrisy in judging another was the thing here, so maybe that’s what he was writing in the dirt…no one knows…..

    1. Sandi says:

      Perhaps their names

  21. Mae Pound says:

Oops! My internet is a bit wacky, didn’t realize I’d posted 2X

Praying the lost will see their need for The Light of the World, and flip the switch to Jesus.
    .
Have you ever been looking for something and get asked, what are you looking for?, and your reply is, I’m not sure sure, but I’ll know it when I see it?
For all the lost searching for something to ease the pain, fill the void, remove the darkness, show them the way – praying they see the light of Jesus TODAY and recognize He’s what they are looking for.
    .
JA Medders says on HRT, “Christ is our vision, our Lord, our light, our all. He is the light by which we see, and we can see clearly now.”
    .
Reminded of the Johnny Nash song, I Can See Clearly Now.
    .
    Praying for our prodigals, sisters.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Hand raised here! Usually when shopping for a gift! ☺
What a great song! I haven’t heard it in a very long time. ❤

    2. Mercy says:

“I’m not sure sure, but I’ll know it when I see it?” that’s like me when I go thrifting lol. I am not good with shopping you know. I get overwhelmed. And the Lord blesses me with just what I need every time. He is so good.

    3. B says:

Quote from HRT made me think of the old hymn “Be Thou my Vision”.
Here are the first and last verses:

      Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me save that thou art.
      Thou my best thought by day and by night;
Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
      May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heav’ns Sun!
Heart of my heart, whatever befall,
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all

  23. Mae Pound says:

BeeBee – I’ve been on a similar walk, working full time and all the things. It’s beyond exhausting, so I ignored my minor health issues, but they ganged up on me when Mom died. Easy to say “take care of yourself so you can take care of them” but seems to not be in our nature to do that as women. Asking for help is also a task you must agree to do! I’m lifting you up alongside all the others here, better health and a calm spirit.

  25. Bee Bee says:

I have been reading and praying along with you for years. (I still miss Church Mouse- anyone remember her?) I rarely comment. This is one of favorite verses and I needed this reminder today. Please pray for me. I’m caring for my elderly parents. My dad just had a stroke. I work full time and my hubs is a Pastor. Been suffering with horrible ear aches and pain for months. Yesterday I was told it was a vestibular migraine. (Maybe from stress?). I won’t bore you with the details but this has been one of the toughest years I can recall and I can’t seem to figure out how to not stress. I cling to my hope of eternal life. It feels odd to ask for prayers when I don’t comment often but I truly need them. I do pray for you all. He is the light of the world. Our Eternal Light.

    1. Searching says:

Yes, I (and many others who have been here a few years) remember and miss Churchmouse and her insights ❤️
Praying for your dad’s recovery, your migraines and all the stress you are under, sister, it is a lot! Are there any home health options available to take a bit of the stress off you?
Bee Bee, Please don’t be a stranger to commenting and asking for prayer ❤️❤️

      1. Bee Bee says:

Thank you!!!! This means the world to me. Being in the fishbowl of ministry (Husband is a pastor) has made me hesitant to ask for prayers for self/family due to feeling needing/burdening others or selfish. I will check into the home health options. Good idea. Thank you much. Prayers for you today too. ❤️

        1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Bee Bee, I too am a pastors wife – and happy to see you here! Never feel odd about asking for prayer… It’s what we do best! Praying that God will relieve you of your stress and give you the strength and grace to go through each day as you care for your elderly parents and work full time. ❤️

    2. Heather G says:

So glad you commented and asked for prayer. I’ll be praying for you and your family ❤️.

    3. Therese says:

Yes, I remember Churchmouse. I am praying for you. Never feel odd asking for prayer. There are so many prayer warriors here for you. I feel your request so much. I went through a hard time with my mom and her needs. She had had two strokes and dementia. It was during covid and no home health care at the time which we desperately needed. Her needs were beyond what we could do at home. It took 1.5 years on a waitlist to get her into a nursing home (which broke my heart) but needed. I look back now and all I went through for three years, and I wouldn’t trade any of it. It was a special time with her. I know it all sounds crazy now, but there were sooo many God moments, and my brother and I became very close. Please, continue to let us know what we can pray for.

    4. Sandi says:

Let us minister to you by these bible studies, and us being your prayers warriors

    5. Tara B says:

Yes, I remember CHURCHMOUSE and her comments well. I miss her too. Thank you for sharing. We do need prayer. And asking for prayer is biblical. I will be praying for you along with our other sisters in Christ for your burden to be lifted and peace wash over you. Tina, I was singing that song while reading the comments as well. What a beautiful way to worship our Lord and King this morning!

    6. Lynne from Alabama says:

Precious Bee Bee, never hesitate to ask for our prayers! I know how difficult caregiving is and I pray daily for our caregivers (I’m adding your name to the list). Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Asking for help was not my strong suit but people really do want to help and are willing if they know what your needs are.

    7. Kari Jae says:

Praying for you this am! Thank you for the opportunity ❤️ I pray you are able to find ways to bring light, joy, and humor into this space and time with your parents. Turn on some great music and dance and sing, find things that make them laugh (and by extension, you laugh), read great stories together… in the midst of the great weight of care and responsibilities, I pray you are able to find joyous ways to share your time together. And that you will look back and always treasure this precious time ❤️❤️❤️

    8. Wendy B says:

Yes, I too, miss Churchmouse. Thank you for sharing and reaching out – we are called to carry one another and not meant to walk alone. The season of needing to live daily life and caring for parents is incredibly difficult. May the Lord sustain you Bee Bee. Bring healing, strength, and energy to you in body, mind and soul, discernment in your daily routine, and great kindness, compassion and wisdom with your parents. ❤️

    9. AZ Walker says:

Dear Bee Bee, keeping you in my prayers during this hard season.

    10. Jennifer Jackson says:

Praying for you and all you are going through

    11. Darby Byrd says:

      Praying over you now

    12. Lisa H says:

I can imagine how it might feel awkward to ask for prayers as a church leader. Hopefully this is a forum you can feel comfortable in, with the amount of anonymity. Praying for peace and healing for you. ♥️

    13. Mercy says:

Praying for you sister. Please always ask for prayers and don’t hesitate. Yes we remember Churchmouse. She has touched our hearts. You have been a long time reader, no strangers here. Sending you much love.

    14. Jane K says:

Bee Bee, I’m in a similar stage of life. Praying for healing for the migraines and the stress of caring for your parents. I struggle with not being able to release the stress that causes me to have that feeling of a pit in my stomach. I jump every time my phone rings thinking it’s my mom’s next emergency. I’m spending more time than ever with the Lord, but I am still full of anxiety and stress over my mom. You will be in my prayers. May God fill us with His peace and His presence daily.

  26. Kelly (NEO) says:

Song that atarted playing in my head: Thy Word by Amy Grant and Michael W Smith
    When I feel afraid
    Think I’ve lost my way
Still you’re there right beside me
    And nothing will I fear
As long as you are near
Please be near me to the end
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path
    I will not forget
Your love for me and yet
    My heart forever is wandering
    Jesus be my guide
And hold me to your side
I will love you to the end
Nothing will I fear as long as you are near
Please be near me to the end
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path
And a light unto my path
You’re the light unto my path
    .
    Then over at HRT:
The light of Christ shows us how to live with Him. “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105).
    .
MARI V – hope you have a great time with your kids at the wedding.
    .
RHONDA J – praying you have relief from your pain today.
    .
THERESE – praying Joanne is making good progress in her recovery.
    .
LYNNE FROM AL – continuing to pray for your daughter’s trip to Croatia – safety and many God ordained appointments

    1. Searching says:

      ❤️

    2. Lynne from Alabama says:

Thank you so much for the prayers! I have only heard from her once but I think all is going well! I can’t until she gets home to hear all about it!

    3. Wendy B says:

Yes and Amen to this song❤️

    4. Therese says:

Thank you. No visitors right now except her best friend and she updates us all. Still the same but she did sit up for two hours the other day.

  27. Alana Anderson says:

    Amen❤️

  28. Donna Simmons says:

Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. May we all cling to those words when we find our way difficult

  29. Sandi says:

When He was talking to the pharisees about being lifted up they must have cringed inside ,since they were planning this.

  30. Tina says:

    Light of the world
    You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes, let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You
    .
    Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely
    Altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me
    .
    King of all days
    Oh, so highly exalted
    Glorious in Heaven above
Humbly You came to the earth You created
All for love’s sake became poor
    .
    Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely
    Altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me
    (I’ll never know)
And I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
    .
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely
    Altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me
    Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely
    Altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me
Lord, accept the prayers that we bring
    ‘Cause You are altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful
    You are altogether lovely.
    .
This wonderful song came to mind as I read the title today.. Sorry Cee Gee, I hope you don’t mind that I got to the song first..:)❤
    .
    .
Boy, have I walked in darkness, but as Abby stated, all I had to do was turn on/turn to the Light!
    .
Thank goodness I am not where I used to be, I hold the ‘switch’ in my hand and heart. His Word and Spirit live in me, I may not always immediately remember to turn to Him..
    .
    BUT GOD..
.. Soon reminds me that the Light, my Saviour, Redeemer, my Faithful Jesus, is near and that I only need to step out..
    .
Light of the world, Dearest Jesus, Thank you for stepping out into our darkness and bringing us into your glorious light..❤
    .
    Amen..
    .
Happy Friday, my loves! Prayerful your day is covered in the Light, that you are blinded, in a good and Godly way, by His Saving Grace, Faithful Love, Forever Hope.
    Much love,
    Tina.❤❤
