Though Scripture contains many written prayers, like those found in the book of Psalms, and many teachings on how to pray, like the parables and sermons in Jesus’s ministry, this reading plan focuses on the prayers offered to God in the narratives of Scripture. Each day we’ll read a narrative that includes a prayer from an individual or group. Their prayers vary in length, type, posture, purpose, and God’s response. The secondary passages explore how the rest of Scripture speaks to the themes demonstrated in the main reading.
While each account is different, every prayer recorded in Scripture teaches us about the unchanging God who invites us to speak to and hear from Him. These prayers model for us what it can look like to be in conversation with God. As you read, notice the posture and emotions present each day.
Reading Scripture together is the centerpiece of what we do at She Reads Truth. As we spend time as a community reading Prayers in Scripture together, we encourage you to start by reading the daily Scripture on your own. Then join us here to engage and encourage one another as we respond to what we’ve read in the comments.
The prayers this week have pointed us toward the God who listens, is compassionate, guides, remembers, and keeps His promises. Look back at the prayer requests of Shes around the world from Day 1. Let what you’ve learned about God shape your prayers for those who are reading alongside you.

Is glll>org a typo or is there a different meaning?
This year my husband went through a big career change, from playing professional baseball to being in the academy for police. Over summer the I got a job as a server full time and started a small business (eventually to leave the serving job). All while living in a new state away from all friends and family. We have two little girls, barely live paycheck to paycheck. I feel like God is showing my husband his path but I don’t see my purpose here in FL. I know all of this could have happened because He wants me at this position of prayer and searching. But I just want guidance on what He has for me here. I know He will make it known.
May we be reminded of the fullness that we can receive in life when we choose to follow God. The earthly desires of this world may seem better at the time and seem to make more sense to us; however, there will be something within those earthly desires that will NOT fulfill us and ultimately lead us away from the walk that God has planned for us. Help me to remember that the walk with God is better than all else even with other “walks” may seem easier and better for my life. The life with God is better than all else because he forgives us for our sins and has already designed the best and most fulfilling paths for our lives : until He chooses for us to meet him in heaven forever with Him.
Dealing with the aftermath of a hurricane. I’m separate from my husband and being a single mother quarantined in a hotel with a toddler with COVID I have been depressed. The Hurricane and COVID also made us cancel a trip that meant so much to me to see family. And we have a permenancy hearing coming up for our foster daughter who are in love with and desperately want to adopt. The Lord promised me during meditation before our first placement that he already has our forever children chosen and knows who they are. So I’m choosing to surrender and trust God. I will not pray for what I want. I pray for God’s will! It breaks my heart to pray for this because of all the unknowns but I choose to remain faithful!
The Lord gives and takes away, and he hears us. They moved our foster son and then contacted us a year later for adoption. It grew
It grew my faith more than I could have imagined. I am praying for your journey, for your heart and that you will have peace in the storm.
Praying for all you lovely ladies today♥️ May God bless each of you as you strengthen your prayer life with Him
Thank you Lord for the new covenant you made with us through Jesus Christ. Now, when we sin, you have already forgiven us, and chosen to dwell in us —such a glorious, mysterious reality!
We worship a compassionate, intentional God who listens to us always and will forever have us on the path to righteousness. It is up to us to talk to Him and let Him lead us in the right direction.
He hears you and will show up for you. He wants to give His children what they desire but the most important thing is that we desire Him first.
Thank you God for rewarding our faithfulness
God will continuously show up for you. Whether you realize it or not blessing you with things you’ve prayed for.
i repent from my sins ,. i pray for your saving grace Amen in Jesus Name
God will bring to completion the work he has started in you through Jesus.
Thank you God for never leaving me
Thank you God for being intentional and keeping all of your promises. Thank you for being forgiving and loving.
I grateful for the reminder that my God is a covenant keeping. He honors his promises all we have to do is serve Him
❤️
Angelica, I’m praying for you!
You are doing such an incredible job and no one else is meant to be his mama. I’m praying for you right now. I pray you’ll be able to tell the enemy to BACK OFF and believe to truths the Lord whispers to you.
Father God, I thank you that even when it appears that your Shes are straying outside and are not aligned to Truth, You still call them Your people. You compel them to turn. When they repent You fully forgive and relent and release covenant as promised. You remember Your promises. Thank You!
I always read so many comments but never leave one and this felt like a sign to do so. I am struggling so much coming out of the depths of PPD/PPA. My son turns one soon and I am so caught up on the checklist of milestones I need him to have done by then, saying “mama” to him all day praying I’ll hear a word before he turns one, running myself thin working from home with him and beating myself up for the screen time he gets while I have meetings. I feel like I’m failing in every single corner. There’s SO much more but I simply just need the prayer that everything is going to be okay and all the scary thoughts I have that everything will go wrong are lies from the enemy. Just prayers that this year will be sweet, that I enjoy my son, and everything. is. OKAY.
God, O pray that I continue to grow a connection with you. I pray that my husbands becomes closer to you. I pray that we become more receptive to your will for the both of us.
God, O pray that I continue to grow a connection with you. I pray that my
As I know in my heart that God wants to connect with us and be a part of every moment of every day, I pray for the attentiveness to call upon Him and the receptivity to listen to Him.
What a beautiful prayer Kamry! Agreeing with you from Miami!
praying for you from miami katie!!
For some reason I have never truly stopped and read this Salomon’s prayer. And I was moved by his prayer for ALL who followed the God of Israel, including foreigners. Sisters, I am praying that your prayers bring you peace as you wait for the many things you are collectively praying for. ALEXANDRA CAMUS— your prayer especially resonates with me, because for months now I feel so disconnected even when I pray. So sending much loves, SRTs!
Wow, I loved going back and reading all the prayer requests and now seeing how Solomon prayed in the center of the town and prayed for ALL. He asked God to dwell there keep his eyes and ears tune to their voices. And God honored him, because Solomon put God first before anything, and I see his pride most, he sacrificed so many things and animals for all of Israel and God’s people, even foreigners were prayed for and welcomed….so that’s my prayer today I didn’t read every comment but I am lifting us all up in prayer today, asking God to reveal himself to us, that he hears us, wants to commune with us and wants him to be our first love and find identity in him. I want to pray like Solomon, steadfast and strong and bold and on behalf of everyone not just myself
Praying for that too! I’ve been going through a difficult trial and I feel so empty, but praying God will fill me up ♥️
Praying for peace
Praying for you, Katy. Keep your eyes on heaven. God sees you and your struggles, so do we. ❤️
I’m praying for the intentions of my sisters in Christ. I know the Lord hears you and I pray that at the very least we find peace in our conversations with Him. I pray for a feeling of connection with God that has left a void of emptiness in me.
Praying to be more like Him and to fall more in love with Him. I want to trust in the Lord with all my heart and no partiality.
Praying for wisdom, Karen.
Praying for courage and love beyond measure for your family, Katy.
There’s so much going on in my life right now. From 3 kids under 5, working full time, and my alcoholic husband, life feels a little overwhelming right now. Please lift my husband up in prayer to fight and conquer his demons and lift my kids up in prayer so they know how much I love them! And maybe me too.
hi, i’ve been sad and stressed about my health. i earlier this year found out i have keloids and it’s really been hard to grasp that. i’ve done research and it’s very hard to treat. treatment in most cases even makes it worse. i’m scared that what if i trigger it and it becomes worse. i just want to be fine again. Please pray for me
Praying for you Lauren. Praying that people come along side you who can encourage you and speak truth to help you through your hard season. Praying for God to give you the clarity, peace of mind and patience that you seek. ❤️
Tracy! I will pray for your son. An acquaintance of mine was Baptized this recent Sunday. He spoke his testimony in a video played before his Baptism. He struggled with alcohol and other addictions. His wife had been attending our church for almost a year (I may be wrong on this date) but every week she wrote a “Prayer Request” card for her husband’s salvation. Every week our prayer team prayed for him and his salvation, that he may come to know Christ Jesus and repent and turn his ways over to the Lord and walk in the resurrection and faith. He started attending church several months back but three weeks ago He came to truly know Christ and repent. The joy upon his face is now so apparent and his step is literally lighter. Your son may know Christ and have this struggle and not be new to the faith but Jesus’ power is the same. I will pray repentance-a full turn away from alcohol. I pray for Godly/Manly mentors to be placed in his life. I pray for strength, courage, patient endurance for his wife. I pray for joy and hope in your life as you watch your son in this struggle that we as mommy’s can do nothing but pray (which is bigger than any physical thing we could ever do). Take courage sister.
Lately I have been getting back into and focusing on my prayer life, and I have really enjoyed reading through this and everyone’s comments. I’ve been praying that my desires in life, and my heart would be aligned with God’s plan for my life. It has been a hard season for me.. within the past few months I’ve quit my job and broke up with my boyfriend of 3 yrs who I thought I’d be spending my life with. Im 25 and i feel like I’m back to the drawing board of having no idea what I’m doing and just feeling very lost.. there has been many, many unknowns in my life. I’ve had some great days and some really hard days. Just felt like I needed to share and ask for prayer from any one willing.. for clarity and peace of mind and patience. And open ears to hear where God leads me and open hands to do His work. Thanks ladies ❤️
Hi Sydnie, I know you’re working through a lot right now; I’m praying for you! Even though your dad doesn’t seem to notice, your Heavenly Father sees you completely. Keep leaning into Jesus, He loves you and He will sustain you!
Kim, I relate. I have a 17 month old, am married and a teacher too. Praying that the Lord would fill you with his peace and comfort, especially in the night. When I’ve struggled with this in the past it has helped to say out loud,”Lord, take these thoughts from me, they are lies , in Jesus name”. Without fail when I rebuke those thoughts a loud they stop. I hope that is helpful and I will continue to lift you up.
Ravanne praying for you. Asking the Lord to fill you with his peace and comfort. Praying that he would continue to give you strength and endurance and that he would shield you from the lies of the enemy.
hey guys. i haven’t ever commented on any of these, but seeing you all reach out makes me feel a little more confident to reach out too. i’m 22. i bought a house in march, it’s a fixer upper. i am so stressed because i’m trying to save up to pay for my school, trying to save up to pay off my dental instruments (i’m an equine dentist) and i need a good reliable truck so if i needed to i would be able to haul my horse so i’m saving up for that too. i know all this sounds menial compared to what others are going through but i am truly struggling. i’m stressed, and lately satan has dragged me down and i’ve been depressed recently because i feel like i’m struggling for nothing because i’ve never been the best financially but i do try. in addition, i want my dad to notice. he’s always been there but never been much of a dad. and i just want him to notice how hard i work, and how hard i try. and like i said i know all this sounds trivial and i’m grateful to have such small struggles but if you guys could send any prayers my way i wound be grateful. thank you, and i will be praying for all of you too.
❤️
Please hold my adult son up in prayer. He has been struggling with alcohol addiction for a long time. God has blessed him with a beautiful wife and two daughters, however his addiction seems to be getting worse the closer he gets to God. I know it’s satan warring against him and his family. Please pray for complete healing, thank you.
@Kim: I am praying for you, your marriage, anxiety and insomnia. May God give you the strength and trust to fully surrender when things get overwhelmed.
@Ashleigh H.: Praying for a successful pregnancy and lovely experience this time, and for God’s abundant provision for all your needs, especially the need of faith & hope in Him to grant you your heart’s desires.
@Robyn Pankok: praying for your marriage and your husband.
Kim – I had a similar experience following the birth of my son – you are pulled in so many directions and the worst thing I can say but is true is that spending time reading the Bible or praying or worshipping is the first on the list to go. You’re trying to keep up with the baby, your house, your husband, yourself, you get tired and knocked down and sad. Don’t give up. I’m at 2.5 years and everyday I can do my reading is another good day (it took me almost 2 years to really make it a priority again). One day at a time. This is such a wonderful community and I am glad I’ve started reading the comments to really understand.
Thank you for praying for each of us by name. I love this community of sisters and am grateful for the privilege of praying for you all. ♥️
Thank you so much @Jennifer Loves Jesus for praying for us by name! I really appreciate that. It makes me have a tear, but in a good way. It’s like I’m seen and not forgotten. Thank you. Also, thank you for all that have prayed! I’m reading the situations and prayer requests. My situations or experiences are not exactly like everyone else’s, but I can relate. I’m praying for you all too.
@Nitz your prayer is beautiful!
What a blessing to be able to pray for each other.
Robyn bless you and may God grant you comfort and peace as you fight the good fight in your marriage. I know what that feels like and it is worth the struggle dear sister in Christ.
@Susan Lincks- every once in a while a study does not have a daily “devotional” but instead has promting questions to encourage us to engage with the passages our selves.
I thought of the song “Heal Our Land / Come And Move”
Ashleigh H , Robyn Pankok I am praying for you. GramsieSue praying for you and Steve. Traci Gendron praying for you as well.
Jesus, santicfy and purify me today. Set me apart for your glory. Be exalted in my life. Thy will be done in my life. I surrender my plans, my desires, my thoughts. Be exalted on earth as in heaven. Thank you for your favour and daily miracles. I remember your goodness and faithfulness. You have been so so kind to me. Thank you Jesus. I worship You Father and I love You Holy Spirit
Why are each of the commentaries the same?
I moved recently and forgot to update my address so I did not receive my last two study books and have strayed from doing this daily devotional. I am glad to have this book and be getting back in routine of spending time in Gods word each day. I am thankful for a forgiving God. A God who I can pray to for any and everything.
I looked back at Day 1’s comments and I’m praying for everyone who is seeking something to get what they need. I’m asking that their prayers be answered and if they do not receive what it is that they are looking for, that they receive what they didn’t even know that they needed instead. I’m praying that all of my fellow SRT family is given solace during the holidays if they are experiencing hardships and I’m asking for healing for all our family if they are hurting. Hoping that all our Veterans are are well today!! Happy Veterans Day everyone!
As I was reading this I was thinking of the song Million Little Miracles (I know, completely random, but that’s how my brain works) and I was thinking of all the small moments/little miracles in life. How blessed we are and how He hears us and walks through the thick of it with us. I pray for all my sisters going through the thick of it. May the Lord hear your prayers and walk with you through it all.
Shalom
As I look back on things I’ve prayed for I’ve learned to be more grateful for the things I have in front of me. My prayers aren’t always answered how I want them to be and that makes me afraid to boldly pray for things as I’ve been rejected before. Learning to be honest with my prayers is something I’ve come along ways with. Thank you @Rhonda J such a great song and great reminder!
Praise God! I will be praying that God will direct you to the perfect job and that your employer is able to appreciate the service of a woman with such a beautiful heart for God! I pray that while you wait, you feel safe and secure in his love.
I am praying for you both, Robyn!
Wow yes and amen to this reading day and yesterdays! A big W O W. Todays reading I will have to go back through another time to rally digest more and see what the Lord is revealing to me, it was so dense and soooo good! Praise God. Praying for you She’s. Praying to become the mother and wife God created me to be❤️
My husband and I are really struggling this week. This study had been a blessing!! When my husband speaks harshly amf condemning I remember the Lord is compassionate He holds me and His promises are good. Please pray for my husband, the Lord is doing a great work in his heart but sometimes falls into old patterns. May Christ be glorified!
I’m struggling in my marriage
I am thankful for a God that will take back my prodigal daughter despite the fact of the past four years she has been radicalized guided away from the teachings of the Lord. Father God I beg you to please take your own back. Maybe be an example for her as she lives with us again. Please father God deal with her anxiety and her depression that she might know relief in Jesus name Sue
Amen, Im not a writer and grammar and spelling are not my gift, but I believe in my heart that this prayer you spoke over Kim and her family will be a blessing to them. I believe that God looks at your heart , not how you write or if your words are not connect. Bless you Cubanita and my God bless your family also.
“You have kept Your promise to Your servant David my father…” 2 Chronicles 6:15 Just as God kept his promise to David, His servant — He keeps His promises to us, His servants. The promise that jumps out first and foremost in my mind is Deuteronomy 31:8, “…He will never leave you or forsake you…” I praise God today for all the promises found in the scriptures, promises made by a God who can not fail, and does what He says He will!
@Jennifer Loves Jesus – Thank you for praying the beautiful prayer of blessings over us! I pray those same blessings over you!
@Taylor – praying for your NCCA game this weekend, may all go well & may you be a witness and testimony to all you interact with!
@Kim – Happy to see you join back with us here at SRT! Praying God helps you to get back into the daily routine, I know it can be difficult with a little one but it’s not impossible. Also praying that God will take away your night anxieties and that He will restore your rocky marriage. Having a baby throws a whole new dynamic into the mix. There are a lot of transitions, but be encouraged – God is there for you and He hears our prayers! I am training to be a postpartum doula, if there is any way I can be of help to you, feel free to reach out to me on FB if your on it – Sharon Scheibenpflug
@Ravanne Harris – much prayers for you today and the days ahead as you mourn the loss of your son. God hears, He sees, He knows your heartbreak. May God continue to soften your heart and take away your feeling of abandonment. Even though at times we can’t feel Him or see Him working – He is there. May your heart be encouraged today.
Good morning Lord, Thank you so much for the sun that’s shining out my window and the quiet in me. You have blessed me with so very many earthly things. I am so grateful for the life you have given me Lord. Today we have gathered in your Son’s name to worship and praise you for your love and devotion to our sinful hearts. We know we are sinners yet you LOVE us. We ask that you forgive us of our thoughts, words and actions we have committed against you as well as not supporting you in you word. Lord, we ask that you hear our prayers this week. Several of us are fighting anxiety or doubt about our faith or our decisions we are about to make or have made. We ask for your wisdom and assurance of our choices. We also ask for strength and patience in our daily lives. Lead us in our marriages to be understanding and loving (slow to speak and speak in your love). Help us with our children, those we have, those we yet to meet, those we have lost or those who have strayed, to lean in and love, to listen and prayer for them and to be able to peacefully surrender them to You, Oh Lord. Show us signs of your love through the day so we can praise you for your goodness and mercy. Help us to celebrate and enjoy those moments while remembering who we are receiving this joy from; our glorious, merciful, ever loving God. For you Lord are good, you Lord are the Most High, You Lord are what matters. In you loving Son, Christ Jesus, We pray. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you Oh Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14
I’m sure I missed some of those events that needed prayers. I like to set my alarm at 12 PM and 4 PM every day to set a few mins aside and pray. Some days it is impossible, however, God always seems to remind me later that we need a little visit. Have a wonderful weekend.
**Ashliegh–Have a wonderful time reffing your first NCAA game…Hooray for you!!
I am so thankful to the Lord for His word and for prayer.
Ravanne Harris, may you know the peace of God in all that you are going through. I pray in Jesus’ name for comfort, healing and hope for you and your family. May His presence be with you as you grieve. Amen.
Studying prayer (and even the act of praying) is bittersweet for me these days. I know He hears me, but submitting to His will and not my own is the most difficult part of my spiritual walk right now. I wrestle deeply with the loss of my son after months of earnest & desperate prayer; I know that saving his life must not have aligned with God’s will so everyday I have to make the choice to trust Him & to draw strength from his Holy Spirit within me. My prayer today is that God continues to soften my heart & helps me to shake the feeling of abandonment.
Praying for you and your family, Kim.
Wow- Solomon approached God with boldness! He showed up and showed out!! In his prayer he said “may you hear in heaven and act (23); may you hear in heaven and forgive (25)(27)(30); may you hear in heaven and do (33); may you hear and uphold (35)(39); and then “let your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayer of this place”(40)— wow he asked God to open His eyes and ears!!! And God was pleased- so pleased He sent His son Jesus for us all!!! Just envisioning this massive dedication makes my heart full! Praying that all leaders would be like Solomon in this moment! Prayers for all you sisters as we go into the weekend! Peace and love!
Good morning! I am thankful for a God who allows me to repent and turn back to Him without sacrificing so many animals to do so. Perhaps, turning from bad behavior and/or posture equals the same to Him. Gayle R- let us know how that book is! It sounds interesting and I will look into it. Praying for you and your hubby. I will go back to look for other prayers as well. For me, I’d love prayers to turn to God more in my day. I know intentionality will be a part of this. Any words of wisdom on this would be great. I also would love prayer for my infertility. My heart has not given up the hope of a second child so next steps require fundraising for another round of IVF. I’m praying for provision but also for God’s path forward. Happy Friday!
Solomon’s prayer- wow, love it, very powerful!
And so are our prayers if we believe in that same mighty power of our God! I have seen many of my prayers answered over the years, and I too love writing them down in my journal and seeing the answers! I am going to try journaling how you suggested Mercy!! I am not so good at being in the quiet and hearing God’s still, small voice! I tend to wait and see my prayers answered after the fact. Our church is doing a series on Hearing God this month, and my small group is doing a study on Jesus Calling by Ann Grahm Watts…so this study lines up so good!! Isn’t it amazing how everything lines up perfectly for what you need and when you need?! I also read an article posted by a friend last night on “Listening Prayer” on how to Hear God which I think is the same Mercy was referring to.
I hope you all have a great wkd, and lean in and hear from God, our Lord Almighty. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
@Kimberly Z, listen to the song “Wait on the Lord” by Maverick City, so good to repeat in your head as you learn to be strong in the valley! I have been praying for my niece that is a single mom, and I pray that a good, Godly man will come into her life.
Love you all and praying in the name of Jesus for the requests!
Thankful God hears us when we pray. Not every answer is the way I planned but His way is always right. Forgive me Lord for not trusting you in all areas and in that trust make my requests known. Thank you that you hear even my heart yearnings.
Thankful for this study! Praying over all who gather here. The Lord is faithful. I hope everyone has a blessed weekend :) I have the opportunity to officiate my first NCAA game this Saturday so I am really looking forward to that! I pray that I would do well and give God all the glory <3
Man! What a prayer this awesome King Prayed! He said “Let this place be the Place YOU Dwell!” May that be true of us all!
KIM – the answer to your prayer request was answered even before you posted it with this post: God will fill and nurture you because it is evident your posture towards God is true. KENYA RAFFERTY SAYS:
November 11, 2022 at 6:53 am
A repetition today of humility, prayer, desire to change, and forgiveness. God doesn’t promise a life without challenges and hardship, but He does promise to fill us and nurture us if our posture towards Him is constant and true – even when we mess up. We have to continue to make the decision to turn back.
As I look back over Day 1, I pray over our beautiful community of women turning to our Lord, who keeps His promises. He promised goodness and blessing for us when we turn to Him with all our heart. Let us turn to Him now. Father God, I pray Your blessing over us, and that the light of Christ will shine brightly in us. To the women from all over the world who are faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God, through Jesus we are blessed with every spiritual blessing. May the Lord hear our prayers. I have been trying to get back into the routine of following the SRT reading plans. I feel like the last several months, the enemy has had a firm grasp on my thoughts. I’ve been struggling with nighttime anxiety and insomnia. My marriage has also been rocky since we’ve had a child…so the past 18 months have been a struggle. I just want to be mentally healthy and be rooted in the word of God, so I can be a good mother, wife, and educator. If you guys have the time, I’d appreciate any prayers you can throw my way. Have a blessed day!
Father thank You that You hear and listen and answer the prayers of Your people. You know the desires, longing and laments of our hearts. Lord show mercy and Grace for our needs. In Jesus name,Amen
A repetition today of humility, prayer, desire to change, and forgiveness. God doesn’t promise a life without challenges and hardship, but He does promise to fill us and nurture us if our posture towards Him is constant and true – even when we mess up. We have to continue to make the decision to turn back.
He hears our prayers. I feel unheard many times by family but God always hears me – let me not forget that, remembering to turn to Him first.
KELLY (NEO) – thank you for asking about Shannon’s mom. It looks like a long process for her to gain strength. Currently she’s wearing a defibrillator vest 24/7 and will be reevaluated by cardiologist every 2 weeks. Praying for her strength to increase and for peace & calmness in the waiting.
DIANNE CARPENTER – praying for this situation. Could it be approached as a temporary move until debt is handled? Or could MH be rented out for additional income?
GAYLE R – praying for your husband’s deliverance and for your marriage
HEIDI V – happy belated birthday!
I’m so thankful to be able to worship and praise a God who not just hears but also answers prayers. Shalom to all! God bless!
I’m so thankful for a God who hears and answers prayers. Shalom to all.
Lord, provide… forgive my anxiety. You are the God who keeps your promises.
SEARCHING – how’s Shannon’s mom?
“Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth, who keeps his gracious covenant with your servants who walk before you with all their heart.”
Praying the Lord reveals His will for each request.
Amen

NITZ, your post resonated with me when I read it, have you been able to walk in His authority this week? I have also been praying that for myself.
