What does the word glory mean?
This word appears literally hundreds of times in the Bible, but for many of us, the concept can feel abstract. Is it referring to honor? Renown? Praise? Beauty? Fame? And what about all the different ways that glory is used? Does it mean something different when we’re talking about the glory of God versus giving glory to God or glorifying God?
The truth is, the word glory can have slightly different meanings depending on its context, but it generally refers to the manifest presence of God. The glory of God is the fullest expression of His character, attributes, and ways. When we give glory to God, we are not simply giving credit to God, but we are directing everyone’s attention to God’s perfect goodness. This is one reason why the integrity of our faith and worship is so important. If we praise God with our lips but chase the world with our lives, then we are not actually glorifying God. His nature and His love are not made manifest by our mere words but by our lifestyles.
All of this background helps us to understand what Jesus prayed in John 17. In this chapter, Jesus was preparing for His death with rather strange language: “Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you” (John 17:1). These are not the words you would expect from someone about to be executed! But once we understand what glory means, then we can understand what Jesus is saying here: “Make your presence manifest through me.”
This is the great irony at the heart of John’s Gospel: the moment of glorification coincides with the moment of crucifixion. Although we tend to equate glory with honor and fame, Jesus was saying the exact opposite. The clearest revelation of God’s character is not in the Son’s exaltation but in His humiliation. In other words, if we want to know what God is really like, then we need look no further than Jesus on the cross.
For the world, this notion of glory is utter nonsense. It doesn’t sound like glory at all. But for Christians, this is our call. If we desire for our lives to truly glorify the Father, just like the Son, then the weight of our worship does not come from our Sunday morning singing or the Christian bumper stickers on our cars. Instead, one of the clearest ways we glorify God is through our humble, sacrificial love. When we actively lay down our idols, our comforts, our priorities, and our preferences out of love for God and others, we embody the character and ways of Christ, who did the same out of love for us.

Oh, how deep is the Father’s love!
Hello dear ones! I’ve been a bit more absent than usual from commenting here, but I am breaking that streak to ask for prayers for a successful round of IVF — we’ve been preparing since the summer but have run into issues that aren’t resolving with the normal courses of treatment. I am exhausted and demoralized and anxious – some of you have been with me through the first time we did this about 4 years ago. Thank you all so much for your prayers.
Hi Victoria,
I am standing with you in prayer!! Prayers for peace, comfort, patience and a successful IVF cycle!! My husband and I have been doing IVF for the last couple of years, so I know firsthand how exhausting and discouraging it can be. I am sorry that you are walking through this, and I am praying God draws you even nearer in this time.
I have prayed for you many times, Emma, as you walk this difficult path. Prayers for success and strength, sweet sister! ❤️
Emma, my sister I am praying for you. It is such a singularly difficult road to walk down , but Jesus is with us every step of the way even when it doesn’t feel like it.
Praying alongside you for peace, hope, and success. We’re scheduled to start our first round this week. I’m so sorry you’ve been walking this journey for so long but I’m praying for wisdom and discernment for you and your care team this round.
Lauren M thank you for your prayers ! I am praying for you and your husband also.
I remember very well the journey you walked through last time with your SRT sisters by your side. We are here for you again and praying for success and strength.
Yes, Amen! I hope our little sweet God son—Is it Isaiah? or…?? Elisha? is doing good?!
Hi Rhonda ! Yes Elijah is doing so well praise God! He’s 3 now going on 33 , asking for a baby sibling which is breaking my heart daily as we try to address these issues preventing us from moving forward in the IVF process.
Thank you Lynne. I am so blessed to be part of this community.
praying for you
Thank you therese
Praying sister. The Lord has granted you success, He can do it again. Have faith.
Thank you so much Mercy for your prayers and words of encouragement.
The Isaiah verse spoke to me of God’s reverence.
“I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.”
Although the focus on this devotional is on the first few verses of John 17, I found myself also drawn to the portion of Jesus prayer, where he is praying for his followers. In particular he prays in verse 11, “Father protect them …so they may be one as we are one” (V11) and again he repeats the same prayer in verse 21 “May they’ (referring to all those who believe in him) ‘be one.”
When reading this verse, there is a footnote drawing me to Psalm 133:1 which reads “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity”
And yet when I look around I see so much division, even amongst believers when it comes to matters of our role in society and, dare I say, political matters, and much more. Though we as christians may all profess to believe the first and greatest commandment to “love the Lord our God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all our mind” (Matthew 22:37) and even the second “Love your neighbor as yourself” (vs 39) and yet the way that manifest in our speech and actions can be so different.
And so, one of my prayers today is that as believers we may remember Jesus’ prayer in John 17 and that we may lean on God for his protection and the Holy Spirit for wisdom, so that we may truly be one.
Mediating on this reminds me of the Hymn that I remember singing in my church growing up, “We are on the Spirit” The first verse reads:
We are one in the Spirit,
we are one in the Lord,
we are one in the Spirit,
we are one in the Lord,
and we pray that all unity
will one day be restored
and they’ll know we are Christians
by our love, by our love,
and they’ll know we are Christians
by our love.”
I remember this song. ❤️
These verses and Sharon’s word really hit. Lay down my comforts and my priorities… help me Lord to choose you above those things!
Happy birthday, LINDA IN NC! ❤️
I can’t hear Anne Wilson’s “My Jesus” on the radio, without thinking of you, MARI! I often say a special prayer for you when I do. ❤️
As I was reading through John 17… I was, like, “I love that verse.” Then I was, like, “No… that one!” Let’s just say John 17 is great. Period. What beautiful words throughout.
.
I love that He loves, guards and protects me. I have joy, and I have His word. AND He has promised to show me His glory and make a place for me.
.
What a great savior!
Happy Monday ladies. After reading the Scriptures today, I would not have guessed the devotion’s focus would be on glory. This caught me off guard. Truly it is so abstract and overlooked. What a revelation (thank you SHARON HODDE MILLER). When I think of God’s glory, I usually think of the glory cloud. “A thick cloud covered the mountain” (Exodus 19:16). “The cloud filled the house of the LORD, and the priests could not stand to minister because of it” (1 Kings 8:10–11). “A bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is My beloved Son; listen to Him’” (Matthew 17:5). “He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight” (Acts 1:9). “They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30). I love clouds and their shapes lol, more reason to love clouds now. “Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered it. The glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai” (Exodus 24:15). The glory is veiled through the cloud. But in the end, the cloud will lift, “The city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp” Revelation 21:23. Truly God’s glory rests on His people, “Then the glory of the LORD appeared at the tent of meeting to all the Israelites” Numbers 14:10. Through Jesus, we are made into carriers of God’s glory. Jesus said “The glory that You gave Me I have given them” John 17:22 (wow, something I need to memorize). We are changed from glory to glory everyday, “We all, with unveiled faces, behold the glory of the Lord, and are being transformed into His image from glory to glory” 2 Corinthians 3:18. So when He said that He shares no glory with idols, that includes us, He will not share us with idols. Idols begin as misplaced loves (this grieves me, who isn’t looking for love out there? in all the wrong places, and pays a steep price for it, even eternity). An idol isn’t always a carved statue, it’s anything we love, trust, or depend on more than God. Success, relationships, money, comfort, reputation, control, even religious pride. These can be good, but if they becomes larger than the Holy God, they become gods, to the point they define our worth, purpose, or identity. “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Matthew 6:21. “Those who make idols become like them; so do all who trust in them” Psalm 115:8. Idols enslave people, their imagination and will. “The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply” Psalm 16:4. God is a jealous God. He will not share His children with idols! And this jealousy is not as in the human or sinful sense. Human jealousy is rooted in envy, fear, and insecurity. God’s jealousy is rooted in his love, faithfulness, and covenant (of blood through Jesus). His love will cast out fear. God is not jealous OF His children, He is jealous FOR His children. And He will not tolerate spiritual unfaithfulness. Has anyone ever loved you like that? Has anyone ever put out a big sacrifice and a big deposit to claim you as His own? Has anyone ever left the 99 to come after you only? I can weep asking myself these questions. The Bible shows that God has always been working very hard to reclaim His children from idolatry. Come back to God today if you have drifted away. You know who you are. Connect with Him again through prayers. Pick up the Bible and read the psalms of David to find your hope and strength again, in the place of despair. Short and real prayers. Through a thank you of a whisper to God. As you go on your ways, doing your things, direct your thoughts to Him. Through a hallelujah. He hears our thoughts. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart”. What a gracious God we serve. Be blessed dear sisters.
Don’t ever let me depend, love or trust in anyone but You! And don’t ever let me make anything larger than you, Holy God!
Amen 100%
❤
Love this! Thank you for sharing.
Amen
To know that Jesus prays for us. He weeps with us. He loves us.
~
If we praise God with our lips but chase the world with our lives, then we are not actually glorifying God. That says a lot right there.
❤️
“Laying down our lives in sacrificial love.” Our life, our comforts, our wants for what God wants to do through us! Knowing no one may even care or notice but it will bring glory to God! Let this be my heart’s desire!
Praying for all the requests! Happy Birthday, Linda in NC!
Please pray for Hubert and Glenda Morris. Lovely ministers for their entire lives and now both battling stage 4 cancer!

Glorify Thy Name by The Maranatha Singers
This is one of my all-time favorites to sing and to pluck out on the keyboard!
We Will Glorify by Twila Paris is another oldie but goodie!
You play the keyboard??? Please advise :) No wonder you have such a heart for worship.
Lol, one of my greatest desires! I pluck or plunk, but I still love to practice once in a while with 3 or 3 that I can ‘get’ after a while. ❤☺❤
I love that lol.
❤
@Tricia C..thank you for the reminder of El-Shaddai. I grew up on Amy Grant’s music when I was first saved! I have this song queued for when I drive to work this morning!
Glory – has become a new meaning to me. Thanks revealing it to me ✨♥️
In everything and anything, I try my best to always point to my JESUS. I say, “it’s ALL Jesus, none of it is me.” My Jesus gets ALL the glory, I’m just His vessel. I LOVED Tina’s comment regarding her granddaughter! Such a cute story! I had to laugh a little as my own daughter who is 19, also loves to bake and enjoys the glory she receives when it comes to her baking and is hard on herself when things don’t come out right. Hoping she gets it sooner rather than later. However she has a heart for others, has a great listening ear and LOVES her momma! Happy Monday sweet She’s!
LINDA IN NC- HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ❤
.
Thanks, Kelly, for the reminder. ☺✨☺
John 17 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. To hear Jesus pray for me (for you) long before we were born, that is so special and precious. How can I not live for and bring glory to Him.

Glory To His Name
.
Down at the cross where my Savior died,
Down where for cleansing from sin I cried,
There to my heart was the blood applied; Glory to His Name!
.
Refrain:
Glory to His Name,
Glory to His Name:
There to my heart was the blood applied; Glory to His Name!
.
I am so wondrously saved from sin,
Jesus so sweetly abides within,
There at the cross where He took me in; Glory to His Name!
.
Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin,
I am so glad I have entered in;
There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean; Glory to His Name!
.
Come to this fountain so rich and sweet,
Cast thy poor soul at the Savior’s feet;
Plunge in today, and be made complete; Glory to His Name!

LINDA IN NC – Happy Birthday! ❤️

Happy Monday Sweet She’s!
Sharon, that’s exactly the song I thought of! ❤
Yes, SJG
“Glory to His Name” … with the rejoinder… “Precious Lord”.
❤️
I had pasted commentary for the scripture today, then pushed refresh or something by mistake, and poof gone. So now…you have to go read for yourself, lol. But I will focus on the word Glory now! I actually have loved that word for quite a while now- But as my group has been using the book by Mathew West “My Story Your Glory,” it is in front of me even more.
Each day he presents a word that we ponder, belonging to me (my…) like My shame, My priorities, My broken road, My trials, My praise, My giving.. Then you put in the perspective of it’s Your Glory! How all parts of my story…should be used for His Glory! Turning it, intentionally for Him.
It is hard for us to remember how God has been there for us, because like the Israelites, we forget 3 seconds after the miracle we prayed for! So this book helps us remember, apply it, and share it! Every part of our life can give him Glory, and let us live out his Glory though him going forward! I highly recommend it! I have given copies to many people thus far. And some of my ladies say it has been their favorite book thus far out of 6 or so studies!
I had not thought of glory in terms of our humble sacrificial love as the end of the devotional states. “When we actively lay down our idols, our comforts, our priorities, and our preferences out of love for God and others, we embody the character and ways of Christ, who did the same out of love for us.”
That, is Glorious!
Adding this book to my list now.
❤️✝️
It is of great encouragement to me to read these verses today and be reminded that Jesus prayed for me(us). What a personal, relational God we have. His love overflows and He desires for us to walk with Him, to let Him lead us is so. The devotional is so insightful and the explanation of glory are such good words of guidance as to where my heart should be postured.
“One of the clearest ways we glorify God is through our humble, sacrificial love. When we actively lay down our idols, our comforts, our priorities, and our preferences out of love for God and others, we embody the character and ways of Christ, who did the same out of love for us.”
Lord may my life be one of deep sacrificial love, laying down my own wants to give as you give. May you and you alone be honored and glorified through my life. Amen❤️
Yes, Wendy B! Thank you!
The hard work as wrote SHM in this devotional…
”to actively lay down our idols, our comforts, our priorities, and our preferences”…of which I have many. Our true calling, as stressed by you, should be that deep sacrificial love. Like, Now!
I’ve never read this chapter quite like I did today.
Jesus prayed for us! Jesus wants us to be ONE with him. Like I know this but that he prayed for me to know this. And right before he was crucified he was thinking of us. Humbling! Jesus made His name known to me. I reflected on my life this morning, so thankful for my grandparents that made sure my cousins and I got to church every Sunday before our parents were saved. I am so thankful that He revealed himself to me at a young age and that when I veered away from him and his path he brought me back in and steadied me on the right path. Jesus I am I SO unworthy but so beyond grateful. Thankful that I have a savior that walks with me and carries me through this heavy world, pushing me on to see Him working in all things. Thank you for giving me understanding, sanctify me by your truth, make me holy in heart Jesus and active in mission so that your glory may be seen… the manifest presence of God lives in me and in you! Let’s take it in to the world this week so all may see His goodness, His love, His faithfulness!
Mind/heart opening verses today. John 17:15 stood out today. Yes, Father, protect us from the evil one. Protect our leaders, our governments, our citizens from the evil one. Open our eyes, ears, hearts to Your call only.
.
“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one.”
That last line of scripture you put says so much and gives so much peace at the same time. For the world was going to be tough, heavy, trying—Yet Jesus says, don’t take them out of the world because of this…but PROTECT them from the devil that causes all this destruction. So if Jesus knows we need his prayers, (wow) that tells me this is truly a Spiritual war as well as here in the world. That it will be hard, but He covers us when we are IN Him, through Himself, The Spirit, and the Father. We have to rest in that and have peace, and know we have the power to rebuke the devil and his demons. They will try to oppress Christians, but don’t let them have a foothold. They must flee in the Might Name of Jesus! (which is a great song by Hope Darst!)
I love in John 17:9 how we see Jesus praying for believers not just his disciples, but for us as future believers as well! I never noticed that before. God is continually reminding me in this season of life that He is intentional and deeply personal. I give you all the glory Father!
Yes, this also stood out to me. So intentional!
Yes, Susan, His outstretched arms throughout the world, and through the ages!
❤️
This devotion was so enlightening in helping me understand what “glory” truly is and what it isn’t. I especially appreciated how it made me pause and reflect on the different ways we use the word: the glory of God, giving glory to God, and glorifying God. It also beautifully connected these ideas to the sacrificial love. As I read, I couldn’t help but think of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet. I imagine they didn’t fully grasp the profound expression of God’s love shown in that humble act—one that, while seemingly simple, was deeply sacrificial. It served as a powerful prelude to the greatest sacrifice of all.
** Father, we come before You this morning to learn more about Your glory and how it is revealed through sacrificial love. Help us to never forget the simple, humble ways we can reflect that love to those around us—beginning in our homes, our workplaces, and our schools. May we never take Your glory or the sacrifice of Christ for granted. Holy Spirit, keep stirring our hearts with gentle reminders to see and seize every opportunity, big and small, to bring You glory throughout our day. In you name we pray. Amen.
Amen!
Amen!
Amen ❤️
Yes, Amen Maria! Beautiful!

Beautiful prayer; amen! ❤
Thank you, Maria. That is a beautiful prayer. I took a screenshot of it so I can remember it.
Thank you for your prayer Maria. As I read it I used first person and it was powerful. ❤️
Amen! Thank you for this prayer sister.
Amen & Amen, Maria B!!
A clear explanation of GLORY that was never made clear to me until today. It gave me pause….. maybe today is the day I finally can hit reset hard.
I am so glad the spirit moved you. I pray that yes today is the day you hit that reset button hard.
Yes, Nancy!
Pray we listen & learn as long as our days!
Holy Spirit help me to set aside my old nature (Eph 4:22) so I can honor you with my life.
Wow. This was so enlightening when explaining glory. I appreciate the women that work so hard to bring us these devotionals.
How right you are, Libby K!
When I get to John 17, I feel so cared for when we get to verse 20 and Jesus begins to pray for future believers, like you and me.
–
This time my heart sank as I was reminded that Jesus’ prayer is for unity. How far the Church is from unity these days. We are divided over many topics. Lines drawn in the sand.
– Jesus, the world looks at us and doesn’t want to be a part of the drama. Would you bring the truth of our unity into reality? Would you do what you do best and do what appears to be impossible? Would you bring us together, in love?
Amen
Amen!
Amen
Yes, KB!
Heaven help us please!
Amen. I didn’t scroll down far enough in the comments to read your post before posting mine. I had a very similar thought as I read John 17 today.
Amen
That was supposed to say the song El Shaddai by Amy Grant. Gotta love auto correct.
The song “El Shanda” sung by Amy Grant many moons ago, came to mind after reading the scripture passages today. I am so grateful that after Jesus prayed for Himself and the Lord’s will to be done, He prayed for us, for me! That is totally worth praising God for! How can we not?
God almighty! God most High! I love you Lord!
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
El-Elyon na Adonai,
Age to age You’re still the same,
By the power of the name.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
Erkamka na Adonai,
*we will praise and lift you high*,
El shaddai
Through your love and through the ram,
You saved the son of Abraham;
Through the power of your hand,
Turned the sea into dry land.
To the outcast on her knees,
You were the God who really sees,
And by Your might,
You set Your children free.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
El-Elyon na Adonai,
Age to age You’re still the same,
By the power of the name.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
Erkamka na Adonai,
*we will praise and lift you high*,
El Shaddai.
Through the years You’ve made it clear,
That the time of Christ was near,
Though the people couldn’t see
What Messiah ought to be.
Though Your Word contained the plan,
They just could not understand
Your most awesome work was done
Through the frailty of Your Son.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
El-Elyon na Adonai,
Age to age You’re still the same,
By the power of the name.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
Erkamka na Adonai,
I will praise you till I die,
El Shaddai.
I thought about that song a couple of days ago! ❤
We just heard this song on Saturday, on the Christian radio station, K-Love. It’s such a beautiful song and I hadn’t heard it in many years.
Love this song. Thank you TRICIA.
What This Teaches Me About Jesus:
Jesus is divine — He was with the Father before the world began.
.
Jesus is personal — He knows me and prays for me.
.
Jesus is loving — His deepest desire is that I live in the same love He shares with the Father.
.
What This Teaches Me About My Mission:
.
I am called to know God deeply — that’s eternal life (v.3)
.
I am called to live in truth — letting God’s Word shape me (v.17)
.
I am called to pursue unity and love, reflecting the relationship between the Father and the Son (v.21–23)
.
Father, thank You for letting me listen in on Jesus’ prayer.
.
Thank You that before His death, Your Son, Jesus, prayed for me, for my faith, my protection, and my unity with other believers.
.
Help me live in the truth of who Jesus is: the eternal Son who gives life.
.
Shape me by His mission — to glorify You, love others, and make Your name known in the world.
.
May Your love be in me, as it was in Him.
Amen.
Amen! Yes! Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Happy Monday!❤️

LINDA IN NC – Happy Birthday❣️
“This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent” John 17:3.
.
I love it when God gives clear definitions to us in His Word.
.
From the NET Bible’s study notes:
Eternal life “is not just unending life in the sense of prolonged duration. Rather it is a quality of life, with its quality derived from a relationship with God….The statement here in 17:3 enables us to correlate the statement made in 1:18 of the prologue, that Jesus has fully revealed what God is like, with Jesus’ statement in 10:10 that he has come that people might have life, and have it abundantly. These two purposes are really one, according to 17:3, because (abundant) eternal life is defined as knowing (being in relationship with) the Father and the Son. The only way to gain this eternal life, that is, to obtain this knowledge of the Father, is through the Son (cf. 14:6).”
.
Eternal life begins with our relationship with Jesus, not once we arrive in heaven. It is our life now, not in the sweet by-and-by.
.
THERESE – praying for Sydney’s delivery to go smoooth.

LEANNA THOMPSON – praying the appt with your son’s surgeons goes well tomorrow.

“Eternal life begins with our relationship with Jesus, not once we arrive in heaven. It is our life now, not in the sweet by-and-by.” Amen!

❤️ This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God
Great devotional this morning! Happy Monday to all of you – may God bless you abundantly this week
Great devo today – “ If we praise God with our lips but chase the world with our lives, then we are not actually glorifying God. His nature and His love are not made manifest by our mere words but by our lifestyles.” A great everyday reminder.
.
Jesus prays in John 17:15 “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.”
This protection is my daily prayer for so, so many.
.
Jesus goes on to pray not just for the believers around him at that time but also for those ‘who will believe’ – that’s us.
And
“that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”
“And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
.
We are loved, far beyond our understanding. God is so wonderful (see HRT on His wonderfulness) and He is every good thing, He is worthy of all our praise, all glory and honor to God. Live like you believe it, which feels like the first step in glorifying Him.
.
ANDREA SCHAAP – welcome back!
KELLY (NEO) and TINA – shining sisters, the both of you ❤️
THERESE – continuing to pray for JoAnn
Thank you. The update is she’s still the same. Still in the ICU. They’re having a hard time finding a place for her. They’re talking skilled nursing. I will have an address for her if anyone is interested in sending her a card. I’ll put it on our FB page.
Beautiful share, Searching! ❤
This protection is my daily prayer- amen sister.❤️
My granddaughter has always loved to bake! I got a call one day, when she was around 7/8 to come quickly because she needed help baking a cake for her parents sick friend. You don’t have to call me twice to come hang out with my granddaughter!
All was set up when I arrived, the mixer, the scales, the ingredients, even her trusted ipad with a recipe, ready on the screen.
.
I was impressed!
.
This little Miss organised says… “..you read out the ingredients, Nan, and I’ll weigh them into the bowl”
I begin.. ” 8 ounces flour..”
She weighed the flour and it wasss half an ounce over.. I pointed this out.. she says..”it will be alright..”
“8 ounces sugar..” I say.
She pours the sugar and again, it’s over by a bit.. I pointed this out.. again, she says..” it will be alright..”
I was beginning to get agitated.. I ask if she is listening..
She replied.. you’ve got it.. “..it will be alright..”
It was when we got to the butter and thst was over the weight needed, that I lost my will. It got worse when shen put the whole block into the bowl, switched the mixer on and the butter hit the sides of the bowl, that I called her parents in to come and take over.
There was no point to my helping her because she was not listening!
I left!
Some hours later, I thought to check in, hopeful there was a lesson I could point out to listening to the grown up..
She told me the cake she had baked had been gratefully received and that the recipient had praised her greatly, saying her cake had been better than his wifes!
So I asked why she called me to help if she wasn’t going to listen to me, her response floored me..
“I realised if you helped me I would have to share the glory, and i wanted it all for myself..”.
Out of the mouth of an 7/8 year old!
.
She had perfectly used the word glory for sure.. but for this Nana, though the whole scenario was funny, there was a part of me that was sad!
At that age chasing glory, what would she be like at 16?
I had always, I think, believed glory was a word only used for God, that it meant something like.. praise, worship, and thanksgiving offered to God..
So the fact that this little person, wanted glory.. my heart sat uneasy..
.
SHARON HODDE MILLER, thank you for this today.. it truly has adjusted my heart thinking, and the realisation that glory is given to God in the understanding that the way we live our lives, in humble, sacrificial love for one another, giving our all, and making living for God, our way of life..
Let us give then, as He has given to and for us, for it is only then, that we show the character of Jesus in us, to the absolute Glory of God..
.
Amen..
.
Just to say that cutie with the attitude turns 17 next month, she, praise God, has turned out beautifully, listens a little more, and her heart is as kind as ever..and she is as God created her to be..”it will be alright..”
Maybe there was truth in that, afterall, she wanted to make someone’s day a little brighter, and let’s face it, it WILL be alright, when we give God the Glory through our actions..
.
Happy Monday! Damp here this morning.. I’m praying you are all cosily wrapped up, whatever your day looks like..
Much love,
❤️❤️❤️
Amen!

Great story.
Oh, I love this! May His glory keep being magnified through you Tina.
❤️❤️❤️
It will be alright! Big smiles over here!
Little is much when God is in it! ❤
This made me crack up. I would have left as well, Tina! Hahaha. Love this analogy. God bless your family ❤️
Wow how time flies! Such a sweet story and what heartfelt reflections. Thank you dear Tina. 8 ounces is 1 cup (in case anyone might have wandered off like me lol).❤️
It will be alright. ❤️
