  1. This is awesome and incredible once again here and this site promoting every student by giving them essay services and motives our should be education and educational service.

  2. krystina_lolli says:

    Love proverbs 4:18 :)

  3. Ibukun says:

Sometimes I come on here to just read comments and see what y’all have to say. But today, I have something to say that I think will encourage you guys. I was reading Beth Moore’s So Long, Insecurity and there was a portion that Beth was talking about not being offended by what others say to us. She gave an instance where when someone says something hurtful to us, we can say out loud or in our hearts something like “What you just called me is not who I am. I will not let you have my joy or my security. It is mine and you cannot have it.” Or “your words may have hurt me deeply but I refuse to be insecure and hurt. My security and happiness is mine. You cannot have it.” I believe that this will be helpful to us ladies and we start or end our day today.

  4. Cynthia says:

@Sue…my theory has always been that it is God’s way of redeeming woman’s reputation. Every since the Garden women have been blamed for a lot of stuff.

God seems to give women a prominent place throughout Scripture…Sarah, Hannah, Deborah, Ruth, Rahab, Esther, Elizabeth, Mary…just to name a few!

  5. jesusgirl71 says:

How do I guard my heart from toxic words spoken to me? that' a tough one. what comes to mind, of course, si Scripture, but easier said than done. I am drained today from work, so by the time I got to this, my mind is fried, so maybe I didn't get as much today out of it as normal, but am going to read other comments and see what more I can glean.

  6. Sue says:

Praying that God will continue showering you with Love, Lawsey OO. XXX

  7. Lawsey00 says:

Currently going thru counselling to cope with my past and the toxic thoughts, feelings and words my step family continue to pile on me.
I need to believe that with God and his army of angels surrounding me I am an independent, strong, capable woman with the ability to cope with nothing the devil wants to throw at me.
Words can not make me a lesser person, they can not beat my soul and spirit.
MY GOD is bigger than any hurt or toxins.
Prayer, faith, worship, fellowship and biblical knowledge will protect my heart :)

  8. Linda says:

I loved the verse about keeping my path streight as well. Also the first part Prov 4:6 Don't abandon wisdom, and she will watch over you; love her, and she will guard you. wisdom is supreme– so get wisdom.

Often for me the people who hurt me the most are people whom I hold in high regard as wise and etc. I need wisdom of discernment and any other wisdom Gid can give me. We need to be wise as to who is the ultimate leader of our lives. Hide his words in our heart and remember who first loved us.

  9. Alyssa says:

These Soul Detoxing Scriptures continue to convict me, day after day. :) I especially liked The Message reading of verses 23-27… "Guard your heart, don't talk out of both sides of your mouth; don't gossip or tell white lies. Keep your eyes straight ahead [on Jesus]. Don't get distracted by evil" (my paraphrase).

Great words to remember HOW to guard my heart. :)

  10. Sue says:

I loved Cynthia’s comment about walking in love, with the guidance from God. And Autumndawn’s “Meditate on God’s word until it drowns out and purges toxicity…” Wonderful.

My faith is new, my answers are simple, but the wisdom flowing here in SRT is faith affirming.

Verse 5: Get wisdom, develop good judgment. Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for SHE will protect you. Love her, and she will guard you.

I love that wisdom is female. Why did thay gender be given to her? Any comments?

    1. Ibukun says:

I have no idea why the pronoun “she” is used for Wisdom but I do know that it warms my heart. And shows me that women are important to God. P.s I get kicks out of reading epistles that call the church he bride of Jesus! ^_^

  11. Christie says:

How do I guard my heart? Perhaps the first thing for me is realizing I need to make an effort to guard my heart! I admit I stared at the passage this morning thinking ummmmm….welllllll…. So I started looking at the verbs in the passage and came up with listening, getting wisdom, more listening, and focusing. I also like what others have posted today about listening to what God says about who I am and focusing on the path ahead of me. I think for me I get caught up in the minutia of life and need to be reminded of the bigger picture – the more important things.

    1. Courtney M. says:

I was thinking the exact same thing as I stared at the passage…so I started reading other's comments to get an idea of how I should do this. I like the idea of looking at the verbs…it helps us to "Ponder the path of [our] feet"

    2. Courtney M. says:

After I looked at the verbs that you mentioned through out the passage, be attentive, remember, be vigilant, accept, ponder look forward…I realized that guarding my heart from toxic thoughts must be an active pursuit. It requires my doing through out the day…but even in actively guarding my heart, I must be still. I must listen.
Thank you for your thoughts, they helped make a path for mine today.

  12. KPennington says:

I keep asking myself the question…"How will you guard your heart against toxic words?". My reply is it starts with my words. I have been convicted, I judge others to quickly, I speak harshly about others behind closed doors. I don't want to love others like that. I understand that I am human and can not expect myself to never have a foul thought about others, but I can give those thoughts to GOD. SO, how will I guard my heart against toxic words? I will " put on the full armor of God so that you ( I) can take your (my) stand against the devil's schemes." Ephesians 6:11. I will also remember that the toxic words others use against me is the devil on attack. As my mom told me time and time again growing up…"Hate the sin not the sinner." …I am so enjoying this devotion and really enjoy reading the comments above. It is so encouraging to read the words of so many Godly women. Blessing to all of you today!

    1. Crystal says:

I love what your Mother told you, “hate the sin not the sinner”! Good thing to remember and try out the next time someone throws toxic words at me.

      1. KPennington says:

Amen sister! My mom is a very wise God fearing woman. I am beyond blessed to have her. She has been a great role model for living out God's word and loving his people.

  13. Carley @OptimisticHealth says:

Verse 26-27 really summed it up for me. "26 Mark out a straight path for your feet, stay on the safe path.27 Don’t get sidetracked keep your feet from following evil."

Far too often I get caught up in the details of my life and what is in store for my own and the future of our family. At times fear creeps in and I start to second guess myself all the while God says follow my commands and words thus the safe and straight path and that's all we need to do. I over analyze the path I'm taking and God says right here it's simple and really not complex at all. Through following his ways comes the wisdom and protection.

It's like a big weight is lifted off when I am reminded of this.

    Have a great day!

  14. lisabethjean says:

Today this passage spoke to me about the importance of preparing my child’s heart.

I can’t be with him for all his tomorrows – shielding him from every harsh and hurtful word. But I can teach him how to biblically & prayerfully handle those toxic people he will eventually encounter.

As my sons transitioned from homeschool to Christian school, I was faced with this reality. Then, when they changed from that environment to charter public school (and one to state university), it was apparent our approach was working.

My boys aren’t perfect (*gasp*) and by no means am I a perfect parent. By God’s grace we have three fine young men entering the world stronger than they would have been if I had chosen to fight their battles for them.

    1. Christie says:

      Great words!

      1. lisabethjean says:

        Thank you, Christie.

  15. Meg says:

Cont'd…The toxic words and gossip that you must guard your heart from may be from the good Christians, the ones who seem to have it all together. It was a revelation to me that there is no such thing as a "good" Christian. We are all sinners and desperately need God's grace. Knowing that, in my heart, has helped me seek God's wisdom, understanding and instruction. I must live with my decisions before Christ. Period.

  16. Meg says:

Proverbs 4:1-27 really spoke to me today on a few different levels. Not only did it remind me to guard my heart by looking towards Jesus, reading the bible and understanding/memorizing His word…it really spoke to me about God's Wisdom and how different that can be from the world's wisdom. Verses 26 and 27 brought a clear picture into my head, and I got really excited about it…so I thought I would share: The field to the right of the road was filled with self-righteous pharisees, doing "good" and being pious. The field to the left of the road was filled with the unrighteous, the corrupt, the wicked. The road was narrow and though I may stray and "look" into the fields (if I'm completely honest I walk right into those fields sometimes…) I'm not guarding my heart. I've been struggling with people who have good intentions and are outwardly pious, but inwardly…just. not.

  17. LindaG says:

I too am grateful to have been led here.

For me, guarding my heart involves everything that has already been said as well as some good old cognitive thinking techniques. For instance if someone lashes out or is passive aggressive, I’ll think “Wow, that’s not about me, that’s about them.”

What I’m realizing is how easily I fall into negativity. Please pray for me about this if you are led to do so.

    1. jesusgirl71 says:

linda, i am the same way! but I love that idea about, "Wow! it's not about me; it's about them!" Way cool!

  18. JDubay1018 says:

I too am very grateful that the Lord has lead me to this blessed community. I am been searching for a group of like-minded Christian women to help me to build my relationship with Christ but also to teach me what it is to be a good Christian Woman. I started off the year with good intentions and started the Fresh Start plan but after a couple weeks I realized I hadn’t been reading the “devotional content” and felt disappointed. That was when I finally learned about this community. I was a few days late to start the Soul Detox so I crammed in some extra reading the first night and now I am LOVING this. I Love waking up and spending tim in scripture. I love being able to reflect throughout the day on my toxic thoughts or words. And I love reading all of your comments at night before bed because I am reminded that I am not alone. I am a child of God. I am beautiful and blessed and Loved. And I share my struggles with other amazing women. Thank you all for being my beacon of hope. For being a guiding light in my life for me to become the Christian Woman I want to be.

    1. Gail says:

Yes ,I do the same….. SRT keeps me focused and excited about out Lord. This is a great supportive community. I believe that there is at least ONE person Praising and meditating on God's word every hour ,every day ……..we are scattered all over the world, in different time zones, in different cultures and in absolutely different situations. But, we are one, all children of God, all loved by Him. May we continue on this journey, encouraging each other, singing praises to our King and letting His light shine thru us.

  19. Elizabeth says:

Good morning! So happy that I found you through YouVersion and that I can join such a lovely group of women in our journey with Jesus each and every day :) Love Soul Detox – I've read it once already and will continue to do so, drink in every truth so that it becomes second nature. This journey into all the Scriptures is just what I needed to resolve past hurts and can even love those who have hurt me now.
Please join my prayers for my daughter who has many of the same struggles that I have experienced in my life. Thankfully, she trusts me with her toxic thoughts and the poison that is hurled at her by others. I do my best to help her, pray for her, and remind her that she is still strong because she has God's beautiful spirit inside her and that's who she should listen to. As any parent, it breaks my heart to know how distressed she is and I know that Jesus is her answer..please pray with me that she believes that and finds comfort in the arms of our Lord. Thank you so much for being here! Love and peace to all!

    1. Christie says:

Elizabeth, I am praying for your daughter. You sound like a great mom. While I would not admit it when I was younger (and dumber), I really appreciate that my mother constantly prayed for me and still does.

  20. EmilyC says:

Looking forward, looking to what Jesus has for us in the future is how I can help to guard my heart from my own toxic thoughts and also the toxic words of others. The verse that stuck out to me the most was verse 25: "Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you."

I think I find most of my toxic thoughts come from dwelling on the past. The truth is that God has saved me, and I am precious to Him. Jesus has already overcome the world. Victory and vengeance is God's. Knowing that is the future, and also the present is an encouragement, because no toxic word from the tongue of a person can contaminate that truth. Look forward, do not veer. Be strong and encouraged, sisters! Continue to look forward at truth, and do not lose sight of it!

    1. karenlcd says:

Aha! Emily, this was the verse that hit me and I was going to comment! Sometimes when reading Scripture if I switch it around the meaning of the original is really emphatic – i.e. if i don't keep my eyes looking straight ahead, the little distractions and side glances to stupid rabbit trails of past memories, foolish deadends keep me from 'fixing (my) gaze directly before (me)'. (I think the LORD is tasked with that now popular expression – 'like herding cats' – and I don't want to be one of the cats, but so often am!) Oh, I pray to keep focused on my JESUS, head up, moving forward!

  21. LeahTvt says:

Good morning ladies! Thank you all for your comments, that are life-giving words! I’m new to the #SheReadsTruth community, as well. I’m thanking God for leading me here. I get so much more out of the readings and devotionals when reading everyone else’s reflections and it great to have sisters to encourage one another! Helps with guarding my heart. One thing that helps me when others say hurtful things is something I heard Joyce Meyer say, “Hurting people hurt people.” That helps me to reject the toxic comments and instead, pray for that person. Have a blessed day ladies!

    1. Crystal says:

I like that saying you talked about "hurting people hurt people" very true if you think about it. I too get so much more from the devotional by coming here and reading all the comments. So thankful for #SheReadsTruth!

  22. Indeed! Again I say, I'm so glad to be a part of the #SheReadsTruth community. This right here helps me guard my heart – it helps me not to let my guard down when I am having a rough time. I am encouraged, because we are all in this together. The thing that struck me today was, again, the thing about "contrary talk" (Prov 4:24) – and I was reminded again of 2 Cor 10:5, where we are instructed to refute every thought that is crosswise of God's word in our lives. I struggle more with what I tell myself than what others speak to/about me. But, I think the point here is that we are to receive what God says about us while refusing to receive what is contrary to it – whether those are words we say/have said to ourselves or that others say/havesaid to us. But, let God's Word have the final say… so, to guard our hearts from toxic words, we must know what the Word says and meditate on it until it drowns out and purges all the toxicity.

Lord, I thank you that You are our very present help. I ask that you continue to strengthen me and my sisters with Your Word – that Your Word would find good ground in our hearts, take root, and bear an abundance of fruit in our lives, giving glory and honour to You. Help us to guard our hearts, help us to stay vigilant – and to pray for each other as we take this journey together, knowing all the time that You are for us and will never forsake the work of Your hands. Thank you, Father, for loving us. Amen.

  23. Rachael says:

Morning sisters! I didn’t introduce myself but I am new to commenting. I have been studying with you all since 1/1. So hello! :)

For me today was a reminder of how important it is to guard our heart. We can do that through prayer, spending time with God, and hiding scripture in our hearts. Praying for you all today!

  24. AmyKelly213 says:

Cynthia, you have spoken my heart!! Well said!
Sisters, what we are doing right now is helping us to guard our hearts each day: we are spending time in the word and fellowshipping with other Christians who build us up and lift us up daily. Both make us stronger in our faith and ready for the journey God has planned for us!

  25. Cynthia says:

The devotional this morning brings to remembrance a song by Casting Crowns, “The Voice of Truth”. The question posed today: How will you guard your heart against toxic words?

I will first allow God to direct my path. Secondly, I will feed my spirit man with with the Word; this will renew my mind so that mind thoughts will be Christ-like. Finally I will walk in love realizing that we are all a work in progress.

I am only responsible for my behavior; I have no way of knowing what others have been through in life. I may not know why people say and/or do the things they do but I do know that I am called to love everyone.

We are all human; we make mistakes. Let’s give one another a break. Love: “It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:7 NET)

    1. Amie says:

That is so true. I was going to say – context seems to drive so much of what is said. It makes sense that we attend to our hearts, that our words would be pure that flow from our hearts. And yet, we cannot control how another attends to his or her heart. As a result, we may be on the receiving end of hurtful words, or even just thoughtless comments that hit us the wrong way.
So many times, if I take a moment to pray for the other person, the hurt or anger of what was said is directed towards God, asking Him to provide what is needed at that moment.
We are surely vessels of God's Spirit – and as we allow God to work through us, it is awesome what transformation may occur.

    2. Brandi says:

Wow! This was so helpful! When I read today's devotional question – my first thought was " Good question. How will I guard my heart?" your answer touched my heart. Words aptly spoken. . .thank you so much!
