Sermon on the Mount study packs!

Happy Friday, friends!

There’s something sweet about these in-between days, isn’t there? We’ve just come from a convicting and inspiring study of the book of Titus, and we’re gearing up to begin a beautiful study of the book of Ruth on Monday. We hope these next few days of quiet afford you the opportunity to reflect on what you’ve read and learned, to pray, and to spend some secret, sacred time alone in God’s word.

coming soon — Sermon on the Mount!

Our study of Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount from Matthew chapters 5-7 will begin on Tuesday, July 1st. We have been so excitedly anxious to share with you the topic of this upcoming reading plan—and the gorrrrgeous study pack that accompanies it!

Our team is wrapping up their writing now, and let me tell you—this is going to be a broad and challenging study. Our prayer is simply that it points straight to Jesus. He is the only One who fulfills the law of our just and holy God fully and perfectly, then turns around and gifts that righteousness to us! Is that crazy-amazing, or what? Let’s dig our heels into these 3 chapters of Matthew and listen to the red-lettered words that come straight from the mouth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

  1. Carol says:

Hi Amanda, I’m a bit new to She Reads Truth and have enjoyed the Titus, and now the Ruth, studies. I love the format, the commentary, the notebook to record my thoughts and prayers. But I especially love how The Word comes alive and blesses as I study a few verses each day. I look forward to Sermon on the Mount. How many weeks is that study??? I’d like to in its a few friends to join me. Thanks.

  2. Reagen says:

Looks sooooo good, but the shipping to Canadais too expensive :(

  3. Geri says:

The study packs are beautiful and a great addition to the devotionals. Thank you all for continuing to offer various options and for your dedication to this site. Being a mom myself, I can't imagine how you manage to run your households along with the time and dedication that must go into this. Your support to all of us is incredible.

I'm so eager for tomorrow's Ruth study to begin! I also just bough the Sermon on the Mount study pack – and since my birthday is on Friday I figured that I'd go ahead & treat myself to that extra beautiful print :)
Question to any of you lovelies – how do you display the prints we've been getting? How do you use your scripture cards? I'm thinking I'll need to pick up some frames for the prints. I'm not a huge home-decorator or creative in that way, so I thought I'd ask and see what my sisters here are doing! Blessings over your Sunday, day of rest, and as you all start your week!

    1. Paulacw says:

I was thinking about just matting them. Mats can be found reasonably at a place like hobby lobby. I'll either use an easel or some removable tape for the wall.

  5. Lisa says:

How many days long is the Sermon on the Mount Study?

  6. Sharon says:

I've been feeling led for a long time to lead an all women bible study and jumped off the fence to send out an invite to a small group of churched and unchurched women. I've been thinking of what to use to start, and decided on your site as a launch pad. I was considering your Daniel series as that touched me so deeply, but then I see the study pack for Ruth, is there a way to message me, so as to not give away anything on the site, a little of the direction the study will go to assess if this might be something I should invest in to give a pack to each of my invites ( remember churched and unchurched)

  7. stinav96 says:

I'm about two steps behind this week, but I wanted to let you know that I think these packs are so pretty. I'm so very thankful you have them to help you fund what we pretty much all agreed was important to fund in continuing this site. The best things in life aren't "free"! :) I also want to thank you that, even though it is not feasible for me to use the packs for several reasons, I don't feel any less a part of this community. I really do see a purpose in what you offer, and I appreciate what you all are doing. Thank you for providing a community that I feel more a part of than any online study I've ever done. Have a blessed Sunday to all our SRT ladies!

  8. Kelsey says:

I don't even know how I stumbled across this beautiful site and sisterhood! But I've been so blessed and have shared it with many friends. Keep the wonderful work! God is using you in big ways.

    1. Kelsey says:

Keep UP!!! Keep up the wonderful work! Massively tired mama over here.

  9. AshleyZ says:

I believe God has led me to SRT and He has shown me over and over that this is of Him and He wants me to dig into this site with everything I have. I am amazed at the depth of these ladies’ faith, they are quoting Spurgeon, that right there tells me a lot about “who” they are in The Lord. I’m more than thankful for this site. I’m a Resident Physician and super busy so I’d like to share with you all what helped me in Titus. I read the entire book, researched it on line, the history of why Paul wrote to Titus and had a good idea of the book and was able to get more out of the daily devotional. I hope that blesses whoever it was supposed to!
Have a blessed day SRT ladies!

  10. AnnaLee says:

I love all of you, sisters. I praise the Lord for this community… for the amazingly cute t-shirts, the authentic and diverse community, and most importantly, the sound teaching of the Lord's word. The insight and devos of this past Titus study have really helped me to be a more accountable, sober-minded person and it has encouraged me to have a servant's heart, no matter how tough.
Praise Report! I currently think I may have a lady mentor in mind. Her name is Chris, and I just met her this past week as I volunteered at my old church– I'm not asking her just yet or pursuing the mentorship further, and I've been praying about her. She is kind, compassionate, and so generous! Could you be praying with me, that I'd have insight and a peace about her if the Lord would have me pursue this friendship/mentorship further? I told her we should get coffee at some point, and no matter what happens, I have been so blessed by the last week of volunteering! Thank you for all of your prayers for me over the past year-ish! I love you all!

Praying that the upcoming study of Ruth would work in us in real ways. That everything in us that is keeping us from embracing Christ would be crushed as we pursue Him here. Lord, forgive me for being not-real with You and for not relying on Your grace. Bless the rest of this day with honesty, awe at You, and rejoicing in Your glorious name. Praise Him. Amen.

    1. Will definitely pray over this for you, AnnaLee.

  11. Paulacw says:

Jordan, even without a smartphone, you can use the free Bible app online, too.

  12. Michelle says:

Jordan, do you have a smartphone? If you do, there is a free Bible app from YouVersion with every version you can think of–and then some! While reading a passage, you can easily change from one version to another. I use this to help myself dig deeper into the scriptures–to make sure I’m really grasping what has been written. And you can’t beat the price!

  13. Jordan says:

Excited! Hopefully I'll have enough in the bank to order by Sunday (y'all always seem to get me on a non-pay day week. GAH!)

But may I offer up a question/suggestion? I love the space for notes and prayers in the books, but I struggle with the life application. At the end of each devotional, would y'all be able to give a few suggestions/ideas for this section? I think if I see some ideas I'd be able to come up with some of my own.

And my suggestion: Is there a way for the next study packet to include the scriptures (either all or the most crucial verses) IN the packet? I ask, because y'all use ESV in the devotionals, and I use an NIV bible; the wording a lot of the times is really different, and I get REALLY confused. I know I could get an ESV bible, but I have to use NIV for school and just purchased it. (I know you can't have too many bibles, but dang, they're expensive on a college kid budget! ;) ) If that's asking too much or too complicated, it's no worries, just a slight suggestion! Thanks y'all for these pretty AND functional bible studies!

    1. megan w says:

Bible.com has a parallel text tool, so you can view two translations side by side. I really like using it to see how the vocabulary and wording changes, and it has really helped me to better understand the Word. Hope that helps!

    2. AnnaLee says:

I second megan w.– I use the biblia link they have at SRT and sometimes read through the passage in many different translations just to get a deeper, fuller understanding of what the text is saying. I am in the same boat with getting a new bible! I absolutely love the NIV bible I'd had since freshman year of high school, but I've had to completely repair the outer part twice. Could I suggest going to a thrift store? You'd be really surprised at all the different translations and good application bibles there are for WAY less money! I'm currently looking around for a message or NLT version/Application bible now. I'll be praying that you'd be blessed in the future studies as you use your pack :) Have a great day, friend!

  14. Julie says:

I like the devotions and think a $12 study pack sounds great – but I am finding that the code TREASURE only works if you order $36 of material? Is that correct? Thanks!

    1. hi Julie! The code is good for half off the Matthew 6:21 scripture print when you buy a study pack. So, you’d need to put both a study pack and the print in your cart, then enter the code TREASURE at checkout and it will take $6 off your order!

    2. (Thanks for asking this, by the way. Put a note of clarification in the post, as I’m sure you’re not the only one who was curious about this!)

      1. Julie says:

        Oh, I get it! Thanks!

  15. ann says:

Thank you for the feed back, Amanda…. And once again…THANK YOU SO MUCH for this beautiful community! I read the devotions each morning with my coffee, notebook & bible in front of me. I will continue to spread the news about She Reads Truth & the awesome group of sisters here, to all my girlfriends. :) Thank you for all you do and for continuing to point us to Jesus.

    1. AnnaLee says:

Amen Ann. I've shared it with many of my friends, and I know that they'll be checking into it once the app comes around. I love this community. So beautiful.

  16. ann says:

I was so happy to get my She Reads Truth T-shirt in the mail….however… it is SO BIG. I ordered a size small and it swallows me. :( Did anyone else think they are sized big, or is it just me?? Curious…

Looking forward to the study of Ruth. Love my community of sisters!! :)

    1. Kendra says:

Mine is kind of big too :) I'm hoping it will shrink in the wash because I love it and love the material!

      1. ann says:

Me too Kendra. If it doesn't shrink I may just wear it to the side in a cute knot. :)

    2. Hi Ann! So happy you got your shirt but so sad the size is too big! :( Unfortunately, small is the smallest size we offer. The shirts are unisex, which is why they run larger. (The women’s cut shirts were SO tight fitting.) Check out how our friends Melody and Blair styled theirs in the photos on the tshirt product listing in the shop! shopSheReadsTruth.com

      1. AnnaLee says:

Amanda, even though I didn't buy a shirt I looked on the site just because I was curious– ah, I love how they styled them, especially the boho look!! So sweet! May the Lord bless you all abundantly as you further this ministry with His guidance and insight!

  17. Alice C says:

I love these packs sooooo much!!! I don't know why when I start to write, draw on the book, I can be really focused. I must say, I enjoy a very sweet time with God since I use the study pack. I am now looking forward to the devotional time every day. The writers' sharings do help me to think about God's words, but I think more importantly, when I write, jot notes on the book, I am creating a space for myself and God, and I have gained so much in the process. I believe it is God's work. He uses these material to help us getting closer to himself. I have been waiting for the new pack since two weeks ago, and now, here it is!! So beautiful!! I have even bought two more as the gifts for my prayer partner and also a friend who has just received Jesus. I believe that the study pack will help them to seek God more personally.

The only thing is, I am an international user, so I always have the pack left behind the devotional schedule. SRT team, would you consider send the packs a bit earlier to the international users?
And, thanks a lot for your efforts!! You all have done very beautiful and amazing things!!

    1. Hi, Alice! We love hearing a bit about your experience with the study packs. “Creating a space for myself and God”—that is exactly what we pray they will do. And to use the packs to join in with others in the study as well—that is the other huge thing we hope God will use these study packs to do. So thank you for letting us know! We hear you on the international shipping, and the process has been frustrating for us as well. We are working to tweak our systems— from printing to shipping — so that we can better serve you overseas sisters. Bear with us. We are hopeful this will get better all the way around for you guys! Grace to you, Amanda for SRT

    2. AnnaLee says:

I'm so glad that you've found something that helps bring you into a closer time with Christ! I love how pretty these packs are, and I may use one for the next plan, but I already have a journal/bible study time before I do SRT and more use it for the fellowship/devotional experience. Praise God for the fact that you're sharing it with others!! I'll be praying about how I can do the same with SRT, because I know of a few people who would love it– especially when the app is out! :) Be blessed, sister.

      1. Alice C says:

Thanks, Anna! God let us get close to Him through different way. As long as you seek Him, He will be pleased and blesses you!!
Hope that you enjoy the time of studying God's work, no matter what way it is.

        1. AnnaLee says:

          Amen sis! Blessings! :)

  18. megan w says:

Hey ladies! I love love LOVED using the Titus study pack, and I want to share the awesomeness! I am giving away one Sermon on the Mount study pack!!! You can enter here: http://uphillanddown.wordpress.com/2014/06/13/srt

    1. AnnaLee says:

You're amazing!! Bless you!! I love you!

      1. megan w says:

Thank you for the beautiful words! I just wanted to give someone else a chance to experience the peace and closeness that I have found using the study packs and I know that not everyone can afford them. I am blessed to have some wiggle room in my budget. <3

    2. Geri says:

This is so very kind and thoughtful!

  19. Sierra says:

I really wish you would stop focusing on making these elaborate and fancy study packs and focus more on making something that everyone can afford. 24 dollars +shipping for a 20 day study is outrageous. I've bought an entire year devotion book for less than that. They are beautiful I admit, but what would be more beautiful is if everyone, no matter their income could afford to fully participate in these studies. I would really recommend making at least a printable version!

    1. Hi Sierra! Thanks for taking time to offer your feedback; we really do hear you and appreciate your honesty. Our heart is for everyone to be able to participate in the studies, which is why we insist on keeping the devotional content free on the web site for as long as we’re able (forever would be nice!). The study packs are supplementary only and are absolutely not required to do the online study with the community. In fact, a small percentage of our people use them regularly because yes— it’s an investment, for sure! We offer these as beautiful, hold-in-your-hand resources for those who would like to dig a little deeper into a particular study, or have a dedicated journal for that study. And the sale of these study packets is what allows us to keep quality, devotional content appearing on our site every day free of charge to anyone that would like to join in. Our heart is always, always to get women in the Word daily. These study packs help us do that.

That may be more information than you wanted:) but I just thought it would helpful for you to hear some of the heart and motivation behind our offering the study packs to go along with the reading plans. And we hear your downloadable request and are considering a version of that for the future. Many logistics to work out with our artists, etc. But thank you for the suggestion! Please do continue to join us. We’re glad to have you here. xo, Amanda for SRT

      1. Aros says:

I appreciate and understand the heart of SRT. I think it would be helpful if the journals were sold individually. Maybe this would make it more affordable

    2. AnnaLee says:

Sierra, I totally understand, as I am pretty broke and trying to save for my adult life/the year ahead. I agree with the printable version idea– that would be lovely, and it'd help with money and convenience for sure. But I also understand the founders of SRT and where they're coming from; I don't think I could fully understand the logistics of all of this, and I understand their hearts behind it. Maybe if they made the study packs printable but less pretty, more simple? Made some of the pictures free on here, as they do with weekly truths already, but save the extra pretty ones and the stylish, full packs for buying? I don't know, ultimately, but I do want to offer good advice. Seek the Lord in prayer for this– if the Lord leads us to have them, He will provide. Praying for the whole SRT team and their collaborators, that they'd keep their ears open and hearts obedient to what wants them to do, and how. I trust Him. Blessings, sister. I'll pray for you as well, that you'd be blessed during this study, pack or not. Love you.

    3. Mitzi says:

I hear you Sierra. The packs are a little pricey for me. But I thought I'd start giving up buying a paperback and the money I'd spend, save it. That cup of coffee, save the money etc. In no time I'd have the money needed. I'm sure a lot of the money given goes toward maintaining this website. I'm wanting that Sermon on the Mount pack. God willing I'll save enough before June 23. Either way I'm not going to stop reading/living God's Word! Bless you Sierra. Bless all the staff too. <3

    4. Courtney says:

I agree. I have been with SRT almost since the beginning and there are some things I'm really excited to see coming (the app, a growing community…) but I think there are some things that are going sour. The last few months has been "money money money" and "sell sell sell". I think the study pack is excessive. I mean- it was pretty, but not 30 bucks pretty. I think the most beautiful thing about the pack should be God's word (and I don't mean fancy little cards with God's word on it). It's just kind of disappointing to watch the focus shift. I'm sorry to sound mean- I just wanted to let you know how it looks from someone who has watched the whole process and been a HUGE supporter. Let's keep it simply focused on Him. Not all the frills.

      1. bonita says:

I agree.. to me it seems all about the money money money… it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. The word greed comes to mind.

    5. Celeste says:

Please ladies don't complain or come off "disappointed". Be grateful for the opportunity to enjoy or not enjoy the beauty of the study guides. Those who choose to spend their money on it, I say "go for it!" I have chosen to spend $1.99 and bought a pretty little composition book from Target. Either way it doesn't matter where we write the words that are poured onto us by the Holy Spirit. I'm just grateful that by the purchase of these guides we will hopefully forever be able to start our day with the word of God and read the divine inspiration that you SRT ladies share with us each day! I'm grateful! Keep up the good work!!

      1. jodimccoy says:

Just as we make a tithe to our local churches to sustain the ministry, I can imagine that a portion of the money received for these study packs goes toward sustaining the ministry of this rapidly growing community. Does everyone need to purchase these study packs? Of course not! They are simply an option to help in our daily study of God's word.

I would challenge everyone to consider how offering these study packs is any different from your local church passing around an offering plate each Sunday?

At the end of the day, the heart of this community has NOT changed. It is simply growing, and growth in this world requires expanding resources. Its completely understandable that not everyone will want to use these study packs. And that's okay! But I find that hating on them or being overly critical of the heart of the SheReadsTruth leadership, is just distracting from their intended purpose that has never wavered–which is simply to encourage this community to read God's word daily.

  20. aquestforsunshine says:

I can't tell you how helpful these study packs are – not to mention beautiful!! I just ordered mine. I hope that you continue to make these study packs in the future.

    1. So glad you find them helpful! Thanks for letting us know that. xo
