Psalms 7–10

Open Your Bible

Psalm 7:1-17, Psalm 8:1-9, Psalm 9:1-20, Psalm 10:1-18

A person’s core beliefs are their most central ideas about themselves, others, and the world. They act as a lens by which we see and understand our life experiences, and they go a long way toward informing how we think, feel, and behave in our everyday lives.

In Psalm 9, David described the overwhelming circumstances that he faced. He was afflicted, hated, and at the gates of death (Psalm 9:13). And yet, David sounded utterly confident that his enemies would not prevail. God would overcome his enemies such that “the very memory of them has perished” (v.6). David rejoiced over a future where wickedness wouldn’t be a distant memory—it would be no memory at all.

How could David, in the midst of great affliction, have full assurance that God would bring justice to his situation? With everything going on around him, how could David sound so sure? How could he rejoice?

David believed with his whole heart that the Lord sat enthroned forever and He had established His throne for justice (v.7).

In our world we understand power and authority as something that must be earned or given or taken by force, Psalm 9 reminds us that this is not so with our God. He doesn’t have to guard His authority from outside threats. For the Lord sits enthroned forever. His power to achieve His goals is never in question and is never threatened.

This belief shaped many of David’s psalms, and it allowed him to maintain hope and joy during some really challenging seasons of life. It can do the same for you.

This is our hope: Christ sits enthroned forever, and He is a stronghold for all who have been crushed by the weight of sin. The hope and joy of Psalm 9 can inform how you see yourself and the world around you. You no longer have to be held captive to the mistakes that you’ve made in the past because of the forgiveness that is offered in Jesus. Nor do you have to be chained to the memory of sins that have been committed against you, knowing that when Christ returns, every tear will be wiped away and the memory of evil will perish.

As the gospel takes root in your heart, you’ll be reminded that you can weather all kinds of difficult circumstances, just as the saints before you have done for two thousand years. In Christ, these challenging seasons of life can in no way obstruct the good work that God intends to do in you and through you and for you.

Years ago I did a study on Daniel by Beth Moore. I will never forget her teaching on God always being on His throne and how he sees everything and is just. She talked about how hear on earth it may look as if evil is getting away with it but God sees it all and justice WILL be served. As I read these dames today it reminded me of this. God serves with justice, righteousness and compassion for the oppressed.

What timely encouragement. Justice for the fatherless and the oppressed, that evil men can terrorize them no more. Reading the headlines these days it feels like evil is winning, but CHRIST HAS ALREADY WON! Come quickly Lord Jesus!

The confidence David has in 7:3-5 caught me off guard. Am I living a godly with such integrity that I would speak these words??

Love what you said “it’s felt like such an opportunity to draw near to the Lord in a raw way that is not available to me when everything is going exactly how I planned.” Draw close and praise no matter where we are.Reminds me of lyrics from Praise (Elevation Worship, Brandon Lake & others):
    I’ll praise in the valley

    I’ll praise when I’m sure

      ❤❤❤
Yes, JAIME GARRETT, BIBLEGATEWAY is a wonderful resource and for a very small fee you can have access to lots more- my subscription renews automatucally, but I think it’s four ninety nine a month to go beyond the free resources.
Also- the Logos app that opens when you click on the underlined scripture in the devo offers various translations. Just tap on the translation/arrow below the scripture title on the logos page and and a list will appear. I prefer NLT for clarity, sometimes NIV for understanding, and NKJV for the beautuful language. Hope that helps! ❤

    Good evening ladies :),
    Couple questions…
Is anyone planning to fast at all during lent?
If so, what does that look like for you? (What guidelines do you use regarding how long at a time, if you allow certain liquids, do you allow any solids at all, etc.?)
    Thanks!

    1. Victoria E says:

Hi B! I do a fast of something behavioral I ask the Lord to put on my heart- shopping, social media, etc. I use the time I would have spent doing those things asking God to show me how He wants me to use that time instead.

    2. Karen Elizabeth says:

I don’t think there is any one “right” way. In the past I have done it for 24 hours (ie early dinner on Tuesday, then nothing until late dinner on Wednesday), mainly because I still have to feed my husband and kids…just gets awkward if mom is not eating dinner at all. My dad does a full day fast (ie no food for all day Wednesday). I usually allow myself only water, tea, and one small cup of coffee in the morning (need it to stay “regular“), but no cream or sugar. I have done fasting before (back in high school for youth group) when juice was permissible. Particularly important if you’re susceptible to low blood sugar. I’ll probably do the first option once a week during Lent again this year.

  19. ucobb says:

Psalm 8:6 says, You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— (NLT)

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.” / So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. / God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.” (Gen 1:26-28)

What is man that You should exalt him, that You should set Your heart upon him, / that You attend to him every morning, and test him every moment? (Job 7:17-18)

The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth He has given to mankind.
    (Ps 115:16)

What an honor and privilege that God has bestowed upon us, mankind- to not only bear the image of his dear Son Jesus, but also to exercise our God-given authority upon the earth, upon the animals, and upon the works of His hand. What an honor!

    1. B says:

  26. Tricia C says:

Psalm 7 is called a “Shiggaion.” When I looked into that further it is from the Hebrew word “shagah.” It’s also seen in Habbakuk 3. It seems like it basically means a very emotional expression and very intense. I can see how in this Psalm David is crying out to the Lord for help and he is very emotional. I know I’ve been in that place. Now I know what it might be called when I am pouring my heart out and all of my emotions to the Lord.

I know like many of you, I have read these Psalms many times, but I really like the layout of this study book. It helps me to appreciate the Psalms more and learn more from them.

    1. Mindy Martin says:

Thank you. I was wondering about this.

  27. Lauren Kone says:

  28. Kira H. says:

I wanted to pop-in with an update on my 3-year old neice, Harper. She had appointments today with neurology and a neurosurgeon. They have determined that she is stable, but that she will need to have brain surgery in June to decompress a malformation that is limiting the flow of spinal fluid. In the meantime, she isn’t allowed to attend her “ninja” class which she is very sad about, and her symptoms are being closely monitored to ensure that they do not get worse (which would necessitate moving the surgery up). Please continue to pray for Harper, her parents, and the doctors as they continue on this journey. Thank you!

    1. Cee Gee says:

Kira, that is so scary for anyone, but a 3 year old???!!! Continued prayers for protection, wisdom for her doctors, and perseverence for the parents. May God comfort them in this time! ❤ Thank you for the update! ❤

    2. Tina says:

Amen.❤️Kira, for sure, continued prayers for this little person and her parents and family..
Lord in your mercy hear our prayers for this family, be gracious to them and keep them grounded in your love and faithfulness.. Amen.❤️

      Praying healing prayers for Harper!

  29. Lori Misenheimer says:

Today’s reading gives me comfort that God does see all. And he sits in judgement. There is a peace in that!

  31. Adrienne says:

Update on Matt…. His wife shared a video where he was talking. In true Matt, smart-aleck fashion, he made mention that we all THOUGHT he couldn’t talk, when really he could. (Insert winky face emoji.) He has a feeding tube in his nose, and he is missing his legs and a coupla other body parts, and we are still waiting to see how some intestinal repair went. He is not “out of the woods” yet, by any means, but things are looking so much better. Thank you for your continued prayers, sweet sisters, and keep lifting him, his family and medical team up, Up, UP!!! Thank you. ❤️

    1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Praise the Lord! I remember not that long ago that his family didn’t think he’ make it. Praise God for His mighty hand on Matt. Continued prayers for his recovery and for the family.

      1. Cee Gee says:

Yes, Sharon, I think of that every time I pray for him! ❤

    2. Cee Gee says:

Thanks for the update, Adrienne! What a trial this has been for all of them! ❤ Continued prayers!

    3. Tina says:

Ah, Adrienne, what trials, BUT GOD, right?
Continued prayers for Matt and his family. God bless them.❤️

  32. Adrienne says:

His works are so great, yet He remembers, cares for and loves me. I am so grateful.

  33. Mercy says:

I was caught on my track with Psalm 10, and then CEE GEE’s notes really captured my attention for a further deep dive. This is a hard Psalm to read for me with many heavy burdens, and I had to pause and pray over. Thank you CEE GEE for mentioning the enemies on the outside and inside. Now the Christian life is always a battle, isn’t it, for those who truly seek to live a godly life. The enemies on the outside, the visible power and oppression, “His ways prosper at all times; Your judgments are on high, out of his sight… He says in his heart, ‘I shall not be moved.’” This is the fantasy in the mind of a foolish foe. What does that look like around us, prosperity without accountability. The wicked appear so untouchable because of their status quo. Their economic success reinforces the illusion that God is distant or irrelevant, they have an arrogant security mindset, “I shall not be moved”, a false confidence rooted in the temporary circumstance rather than truth. They openly dismiss divine justice, God’s judgments are “far above” them, not because God is absent, but because the wicked refuse to see. The outside enemies operate through social power, economic advantage and intimidation, they harm the vulnerable openly and structurally, creating systems where the vulnerable are crushed and the righteous feel abandoned, mocked and outdated. “He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor. He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net” (Psalm 10:8-9). Imagine that. The enemies on the inside is the corruption of heart and speech. “His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity”. Speech/ words are a weapon, they are not neutral, they build up, encourage, or tear down, manipulate, curse and deceive (the tongue has the power of life and death- Proverbs 18:21). “Under his tongue” implies secrecy, discretion, showing the danger beneath the polite language or public respectability, hiding a foundational moral rot. External harm will flow from an internal condition, unchecked pride, deceit, grandiosity, lack of empathy, and contempt for others, especially the vulnerable, the helpless. The external oppression comes from the internal rebellion against God, “He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it”. David holds both of these enemies together in Psalm 10. Violent systems are sustained by deceptive hearts and vain minds. Violence here is calculated, and normalized (The wicked prosper continually, they lie in wait, they target the helpless on purpose). Public harm begins with private denial of accountability (watch out who we are in private when no one is watching). This psalm cries out to God to act, this cries out for divine justice to take place. Human justice often fails because it can address behavior, but not the heart. This psalm 10 warns us about ourselves, not just others on the news. The inside enemy is always lurking for the heart and the mind to corrupt. Where do we grow secure in success? Where do we have vain thoughts? Where do we excuse arrogant attitudes and reckless words? Where do we act as if God does not see? Where do we grow secure in prosperity and deny accountability? Deceptive hearts are the moral engine of violent systems, “he says IN HIS HEART, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity” (Psalm 10:6), “He says IN HIS HEART, ‘God has forgotten’” (Psalm 10:11), “He says IN HIS HEART, ‘You will not call to account’” (Psalm 10:13). Where do all these things happen? In the heart, where no one can see (but GOD). Self-deception and vain thoughts are built on false worldviews: God is distant (v.5), God is inactive (v.11), God will not judge (v.13). These thoughts are vain and futile because they are detached from Truth, from eternity, a grave illusion. Why did David cry out to God and not reform alone? Who can reform alone? David speaks as one without power, as one that is oppressed, stricken, and grieved. He experienced violent men prospering, lying in ambush, he witnessed the abuse of power firsthand. Nothing is new under the sun. Where is the hope in Psalm 10? Hope rests on the truth that God sees, even when He seems silent. “But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands” (Psalm 10:14). Hope is located in God’s care for the helpless, “The helpless commits himself to you; you have been the helper of the fatherless”. The hope lies in knowing that wicked systems are temporary, and God’s reign is permanent (“But You, O LORD, sit enthroned forever; Your renown endures to all generations”- Psalm 102:12), and “God is enthroned in the praises of His people” (Psalm 22:3). Always have hope in God, and always cry out to Him. Give praises at all times. Always wait on the Lord and take courage. Be blessed dear sisters.

    1. Cathy McVey says:

Amen Mercy! I see so much of what is happening in our world today here in these Psalms. Trying to explain the evils in the world to my 18 year old granddaughter last night. The sad part to me is that those things have been normalized and I am the one that looks crazy or “out of touch”.

      1. Cee Gee says:

Cathy, as the saying goes, “Ain’t that the truth!”

      2. Rhonda J. says:

So so true! I know- I try to explain all this too to my 25 year old and his gf. When you have eyes to see it blows your mind how much is happening right now!

        Thank you Mercy!

Ain’t that the truth, indeed! CeeGee!!

        1. Cee Gee says:

God bless you in the battles, Mercy! Glad my share helped! ❤ Love you!

“This psalm 10 warns us about ourselves, not just others on the news.”
      .
I must say as I read these psalms, I wonder which side of this equation I am on. Am I on the side of the Psalm writer needing God’s provision/protection or the side doing the injustice that He will be judging? I know Jesus paid the price of my sin, but it still causes me to pause in fear/anxiety.

      1. Mercy says:

Me too. I sometimes come into that state you described of fear and trembling when realizing how good God is and how I (as a flawed human) have nothing at all to brag about, but only by grace and mercies I am counted as righteous through Jesus. So undeserving. It is a big gift.

  34. Amy Marlin says:

    Amen!

  35. Katarina Friedman says:

He will wipe away every tear and there will be no more evil. How I long for that day so much.

  36. Tiffany Williams says:

God be praised in the difficult times too!

  37. Cee Gee says:

Psalm 8 is one of my very favorite psalms! The following notes from Chapter 10 reflect what we see in our world today. Rather than seeing and acknowleging the majesty and glory of God, they magnify themselves- so like the lost in our world today.

On Psalm 9, Collin Ross said,

“This is our hope: Christ sits enthroned forever, and He is a stronghold for all who have been crushed by the weight of sin. WThe hope and joy of Psalm 9 can inform how you see yourself and the world around you. You no longer have to be held captive to the mistakes that you’ve made in the past because of the forgiveness that is offered in Jesus. Nor do you have to be chained to the memory of sins that have been committed against you, knowing that when Christ returns, every tear will be wiped away and the memory of evil will perish.”

Notes from Warren Wiersbe NKJV Study Bible on Psalm 10:
    PSALM 10:1-
“The problem in Psalm 9 is the enemy invading from outside the nation, while the problem in Psalm 10 is the enemy corrupting and destroying from within. There were wicked nations around Israel (9:5), but there were also wicked people within the covenant community (10:4, 11), people who claimed to know God, but whose lives proved they did not know God (Titus 1:16).”

    PSALM 10:5-7
“This arrogant attitude comes from an ignorance of the laws of God, because unconverted people have no understanding of the Word of God or the ways of God (1 Cor. 2:10–16). Because God is longsuffering, they think they’re getting away with their sins (Eccl. 8:11). Peace and prosperity give them a false sense of security that will end very suddenly.”

    PSALM 10:17-18-
“The wicked boast that they will not be punished (vv. 5–7), but God has other plans for them. He hears the prayers of the persecuted, He sees their plight, He strengthens their hearts for whatever trials He permits (Rom. 8:28), and He eventually judges those who abuse them. People of faith can depend on the God of heaven, but the self-confident and arrogant “[men] of the earth” have no future with the Lord. Life without the Lord is empty and vain (49:12–20; 62:9).”

This anthem always comes to mind when I read Psalm 8-

This verse stood out to me…

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭8‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

    This song came to mind!

There was no way until You made one
    Grace upon grace, hallelujah
Even though I don’t deserve it, You did it
Even though I couldn’t earn it, You give it
Who am I that You keep me on Your mind?
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You
All my life, You’ve been right here by my side
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You (whoo!)
    Holy, holy, there’s only one
I give You glory for all that You’ve done
Even though I don’t deserve it, You did it, ooh
Even though I couldn’t earn it, You give it
Who am I that You keep me on Your mind?
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You
All my life, You’ve been right here by my side
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You (who am I?)
Who am I that You keep me on Your mind?
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You
All my life, You’ve been right here by my side
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You (yeah)
Whoa, You kept me all my life
Been here with me all this time
And I-I-I, I’m lifting both of my hands
You gave me chance after chance, after chance
And I-I-I, I’m giving all that I am
‘Cause You gave me chance after chance, after chance (come on)
And I-I-I, I’m lifting both of my hands
‘Cause You gave me chance after chance, after chance
And I-I-I, I’m giving all that I am
‘Cause You gave me chance after chance, after chance
Who am I that You keep me on Your mind?
God, I’m just grateful for You (hey)
God, I’m just grateful for You
All my life, You’ve been right here by my side
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You (who am I?)
Who am I that You keep me on Your mind?
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You
All my life, You’ve been right here by my side
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You (I survived)
I survived and I’m here to testify
God, I’m just grateful for You (yeah)
God, I’m just grateful for You (yeah)
I’m alright if they say I’m outta my mind
God, I’m just grateful for You
God, I’m just grateful for You

David’s truth filled words give me peace, knowing God will not forsake you, me, us in times of distress. We may not know the “whys” of a situation, but we should always know God is in command of it.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Amen! ❤

  40. Mari V says:

You (I) no longer have to held captive to the mistakes that (I’ve) made in the past.
Nor do you have to be chained to the memory of sins that have been committed against you, knowing that when Christ returns, every tear will be wiped away and the memory of evil will perish. Thank you My Jesus!

    1. Margaret W. says:

This really hits home with me, too, because I have been stabbed in the back so many times that I find it hard to trust anyone, and so hard to forget. I’m so tired of reliving painful memories.

  41. Traci Gendron says:

    Psalm 7:9-10
Let the evil of the wicked come to an nd, but establish the righteous, The one who examines the thoughts and emotions is a righteous God.
    .
My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.
    .
There is so much evil going on in Colorado. From hurting our children to legalizing prostitution. This verse is our hope for the evil to stop.

  42. Merri Lewis says:

So so good! Is there a way to highlight parts of these devotions like we can in the Bible portion?

    1. Cee Gee says:

That would be a welcome feature, but I don’t think it’s possible. Thanks for mentioning that! ☺❤
      .
My request would be for the same type used on He Reads Truth – SO MUCH EASIER on the old eyes!

  43. Mollie says:

Today’s reading made me think of Romans 12:2

    First the ESV.
‘Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.’

    Then the TPT.
‘Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.’

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, Amen! I have that one memorized and pull out often!

  44. Adie Stafford says:

I needed this word today. This postpartum season is no joke and this was very encouraging to read.

    1. Darby Byrd says:

      Praying for you adie!

    2. Mari V says:

Oh Adie……I’m sure most of us moms can relate. My children are now young adults, but I remember. Praying for you right now. Don’t hesitate to reach out for help.

    3. Cheryl Blow says:

      Praying for you, Adie!

    4. Cee Gee says:

We are here for you, Adie! Thank you for reaching out and please keep coming here -daily if you can! Prayers!❤

    5. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Praying for you Adie as you navigate through your postpartum season. Do you have help? Postpartum doulas come in very handy during this time. (I know because I am one :-) )May God give you strength and comfort each day as you nurture your new little one. ❤️

    6. Kira H. says:

Praying, Adie, that you would be able to find peace during the postpartum season. I am four months postpartum myself and I am still right there with you. I pray that no matter the current challenge (be it sleeping, feeding, lingering pain, or any other anxious thing) that the Lord would grant you the strength of His Spirit as you care for this most recent addition to His image bearers. You’ve got this Momma!

    7. Tina says:

Holding you close, not just for an ‘over the airwaves’ hug, but in prayer too, my dear Adie.
I pray this too shall pass in His Mighty Mighty Name..❤️

  45. Brittanie Rosas says:

What a comfort to know that God is using our hard seasons for our good.

  46. Rhonda J. says:

Hallelujah that we have a God that sits high on His throne. He sees All! We wonder how evil can happen and no justice (especially with current news!) Sometimes we can boil and continue seething over what we hear and see. Sometimes it happens to us, bad things we don’t deserve, small scale or very painful that leaves a lasting effect. God, where are you, we ask. How can you let this happen? Why aren’t the guilty caught? How have my enemies won? They even seem to prosper.
It may not be the balm we envision- But God. He does know. He does see. His plan is wiser than ours. We only have to give him our pain, lay it at his feet. Maybe daily. I have had several ladies at jail that have been accused wrongly. (of course I don’t know 100 percent, I can only trust their word and explanation) They are crying out to the Lord for justice. For God to save them from their situation or sentence. As I read David’s Psalms of being innocent in 10:14 “But you do see..” BUT..YOU Do see. “you take note of it and punish them. The helpless put their trust in you. You are the defender of the orphans!” YOU are the defender. You are fighting our battles. Oh how we have to not let bitterness, defeat, helplessness, worry, and anger ravage our soul. These eat us up emotionally, mentally, and physically…and most tragic- can turn us away from God.
How often have I wondered if God understands how hard a situation is and will do something that I can’t. That might just be the problem—“that I can’t!” I want to do everything in my own strength, then I give it to God when it’s beyond me. I need to walk with him everyday, prepared and ready with him! These days I do, ready and armed with him in my heart, soul, and mind. I have cultivated a love and relationship with him for many decades now. I hope I am ready for the storms that are still ahead. I am glad David and others wrote in real time! Not after the problem, but IN the problem. Then we get their real time emotions as they battle! What a gift for us today. All the stories in the Bible are for our benefit. For us to see WHO God is, His nature, His promises. He is our defender. Thank you Lord that we can KNOW this, even when we don’t always FEEL it. You are not dependent on our emotions…YOU are Who you are. You’re promises and love are everlasting and true. Thank you Lord, we exhale you. We praise you. Through the valleys and on the mountaintops! Through thick and thin. Through the trials, the pits, the storms, the fire- he is there. When we are in prison he sees us, when we are poor and orphaned he holds us. And most importantly when we are lost- He SAVES us and gives us eternal Salvation. A heavenly home awaits all “who do receive him, to all who believe his name, he gave the right to be called children of God!” John 12:1.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Great share, as usual, Rhonda! Your ending statement reminded me of another song I love- so worshipful!
      .
MARI V, I hope you see this!! ☺

    2. Mercy says:

100% amen. I am just so amazed that God called you (and you obeyed) to go and preach and comfort the butterflies in such dark places of despair.

    3. Tina says:

Amen, Rhonda, your heart truly is for the Lord and His butterflies. God bless you plenty, plenty!❤️

  47. Amy Gilbreth says:

    Amen!

  48. Foster Mama says:

“David believed with his whole heart that the Lord sat enthroned forever … (God) doesn’t have to guard His authority from outside threats. For the Lord sits enthroned forever. His power to achieve HIS GOALS is NEVER in question and is never threatened….it allowed (David) to maintain hope and joy during some really challenging seasons of life.”

    *
As you all know, I suspect the adoptive parents we’re working with don’t know Jesus so I found myself highlighting a few passages in Psalm 10 and praying they will come to acknowledge and glorify God with their lives; and found my eyes falling on Psalm 8’s “Out of the mouth of babes…” — although I don’t think the intention there is for a 3 year old ❤️ to lead his whole family to life in Jesus :-D… We’ll see!!

Either way, my Jesus, my precious prayer partners and the Psalms are reminding me often to place everything squarely in His hands.
    **

    Love to All

    1. Rhonda J. says:

yes, amen. Place everything in his hands. Oh so hard. Especially with a little dear 3 year old. I don’t see how you do it friend, but you were called, so you are equipped for every good work in His name!

    2. Cheryl Blow says:

Praying for the adoptive family and for your 3 year old! I teach 2-3 year olds at church. When they have been out for several Sundays, the parents usually say, we had to come back because our child was upset we were

      1. Cee Gee says:

I agree, Cheryl! We should never discount the power of a little one’s desire to learn more about God. They may not have an established faith yet, but their hearts are seeking and vigliant in that seeking.
FOSTER MAMA, are you allowed to give him a children’s Bible story book or anything like that that he can take with him? My boys loved having me read to them from that. Little Golden Books had some books back then, too, based on different people in the Bible. Just a thought! ☺❤

    3. Mercy says:

Praying for the light to shine out of the sweet praises of little children ❤️

    4. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Continued prayers for this little one.
…”for You LORD, have never forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 9:10 ❤️

    5. Tina says:

Foster Mama, Trust in the Lord..nothing is impossible for Him. NOTHING! Will pray for change of hearts and hey, why not through something the ‘babe’ reveals..
      .
      BUT GOD..
      ❤️

  49. Tami says:

Psalm 9: 18 For the needy will not always be forgotten; the hope of the oppressed will not perish forever. 19 Rise up, Lord! Do not let mere humans prevail
I can’t help but reflect of this verse as we go out to serve the needy in Honduras. There is so much pain and suffering and it is a great reminder to me that God sees them and that their suffering will not be in vain.

    1. Foster Mama says:

      ❤️

    2. Cee Gee says:

May God’s blessing and mercy be with you in this serving! ❤

    3. Tina says:

Tami, praying for you and the group as you reveal through actions and His Word that our God is good a❤️

  50. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

I saw a lot of new names yesterday – welcome to all of you ladies who are new to SRT! I look forward to getting to know you more as we journey through the Psalms together.

“This is our hope: Christ sits enthroned forever”. Amen – Christ is our only hope and He who reigns now will reign forever and ever!! There are so many scriptures that talk about hope, here are just a few of my favorties…
→Psalm 39:7, “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.
→Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
→1 Peter 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

I am encouraged and reminded this morning that no matter what season I am in, no matter how challenging, God is on the throne and He will continue to do his work in me and through me. For that I will rejoice and give thanks. David’s God is also my God and His name I can trust – for He is ever faithful and has never forsaken me!

    Happy Tuesday She’s!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      A BIG Amen!!

    2. Merri Lewis says:

I am so excited to be here for this Lent season (and the rest of the year too)!

    3. Cee Gee says:

“David’s God is also my God and His name I can trust – for He is ever faithful and has never forsaken me!”
      Anen and amen! ❤

    4. Tina says:

      AMEN, AMEN, AMEN. Hugs Sharon..❤️

  52. LeAnn Schmitt says:

    Christ sits enthroned forever! Hallelujah!

  53. Jessica W says:

Amen. I have been so distracted in today’s reading due to anxiety and thoughts about my own mistakes and shortcomings. Praying for forgiveness over my sins and a renewing of my mind this morning

    1. Maria B says:

Jessica— same. I feel distracted this morning, reading the verses and devotional over and over. I will come back later and read it again once my mind settles. Praying for both of us for renewing of our mind as well as a moment of stillness to focus on our readings.

    2. Rhonda J. says:

Prayers for clear minds for you both.

    3. AZ Walker says:

Praying for peace over you Jessica. Try sticking with one verse today. You are loved and forgiven.

    4. Mercy says:

You are forgiven and so worthy in HIS sight. Don’t let the devil remind you of your past and replay that video tape of memories. If i may suggest, command thoughts of condemnation and guilt out of your mind boldly in Jesus’ Name. You are NOW the new creation in Christ. Renew your thinking daily, and cast of the old thought system. It takes me some work. You are worthy and love and so valuable that Christ died to redeem. Start fresh through HIM.

    5. Tina says:

Praying Jessica for you to know Gods peace and absolute forgiveness as you repent of your mistakes and shortcomings.. He loves youvso so much, Jessica.❤️

  54. Susan Burley says:

Amen! What a comfort it is to know God sees all. While those who are evil may think they have won, this is the closest they will get to heaven without repentance and salvation. God will prevail as He always does!

    1. Rhonda J says:

It sure is a comfort to know he does see all. Nothing escapes him, and he will serve justice.

    2. Kat D says:

Those who are evil or those who do evil things? We are both saints and sinners. May we all recognize our own sins, repent, and ask for God’s forgiveness

  55. Tami says:

Gm ladies. Writing from Honduras – on our missions trip with 50 ppl. I’m serving in the medical clinic as an interpreter. Please pray or our team, that we stay healthy and that we reflect Christ to the people we are serving. I did not post the prodigals list yesterday a my WiFi is spotty. Acts 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Acts 26:18:… open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.

Jeremiah 31:16-17  But now this is what the Lord says: “Do not weep any longer, for I will reward you,” says the Lord. “Your children will come back to you from the distant land of the enemy.17 There is hope for your future,” says the Lord.“Your children will come again to their own land.”

Welcome to all the first-timers and those returning! MICHELLE P is was good to see your comment.
    .
While I don’t have physical enemies to contend with like many of our persecuted brothers and sisters, the enemy of my soul is annoyingly active. These psalms remind me that I am “soul-safe” in Jesus.
    .
    My verse for today:
“Let the evil of the wicked come to an end,

    but establish the righteous.

The one who examines the thoughts and emotions

    is a righteous God” (Ps:7:9).
    .

Challenging seasons cannot obstruct the work God is doing within and through us… wow! So goood

  66. Sally B. says:

Today’s verse for me: O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! Ps 8:9 (NIV)
May we, with David, remember today that the Lord sits enthroned over all our circumstances and one day, the whole earth will acknowledge this!
As a side note for the crafters, I cross-stitched this Psalm lots of years ago (when I could still see the tiny blocks!:) and it still comes fluidly to mind.

    1. Susan Burley says:

      I love that!

    2. Tara B says:

That is a good verse, Sally B. It is second on my list today. My verse is Ps 10:14 But you yourself have seen trouble and grief, observing it in order to take the matter into your hands. The helpless one entrusts himself to You; You are a helper to the fatherless.”

    3. Melissa Vandiver says:

That was the verse that I was meditating on today, too. It’s a good reminder that he is above all of the yuck in the world.

    4. Cee Gee says:

I hear you, Sally! I don’t crossstitch anymore either. I wish I had done that verse when I could. It’s one of my favorites, too. ❤

    5. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

      ❤️
I cross-stitched years ago to, when it was popular – back in the early 80’s.
      :-)

    6. Lynne from says:

It’s fun seeing that so many of you used to cross stitch. I was an avid cross stitcher back in the day and still have lots of it hanging in my house (especially at Christmas).

    7. B says:

      I also cross stitched quite a few projects… then I had children…lol!

    8. Tina says:

  67. Jessica Thomas says:

  68. Wendy B says:

Welcome to so many new SRT sisters. :)

My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. Psalm 7:10
There is going to be so many verses in this study from the Psalms that are my favorite and this one. I think it stands out to me because I’m doing a study on the Armor of God with my Bible study at church. The sheild is a powerful weapon in battle against an attack and it provides great protection. And, the Lord is our shield to withstand the attacks of the enemies tactics that can lead us down the wrong path. He is our faithful, forever shield, our rescuer, our Savior, full of grace, mercy and forgiveness. I liked this from the devotional “This is our hope: Christ sits enthroned forever, and He is a stronghold for all who have been crushed by the weight of sin.”

Heavenly Father, thank you that you are our mighty Savior, our Sheild, that you are in control of all things and Lord over all. Thank you that our hope is in you. Forgive me Father when I am so easily sidetracked and lead astray from Truth, from what is right and good. Remind me Lord to hold my shield and to pursue a right heart. Amen

Thank you for your prayers for our travels. After much discussion and checking weather reports, we reluctantly packed up and headed home at noon. (Monday). The first couple hours were fine but then we got the bad weather making it home at 11pm MST. The roads were horrible and more than once the Lord’s hand kept us from sliding into the ditch. We’ve never had so many “close calls” while driving. We praise the Lord for His care over us, are thankful to be home and know it was the right decision. The weather will be much worse tomorrow. Thank you for praying

    1. A Walton says:

So glad you made it safely.

    2. Tina says:

Glad you arrived home safely! I know we are a long way off Psalm 91, but felt that it reflects your travels.. Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty can say.. “You are my defender and protector, you are my God; in you I trust..”
      Amen.❤️

      1. Wendy B says:

Tina…yes. The entirety of Psalm 91 IS definitely on my list of favorites.
        Thank you❤️

    3. Kelly (NEO) says:

      ❤️

    4. Rhonda J says:

What a long drive when going on bad roads, thankfully you made it home! Glad you got to see the new baby again! They grow so fast.
Amen to your prayer and thoughts!

      1. Wendy B says:

It sure was long. Just thankful for God’s hand of protection and to have spent time with them. ❤️

    6. Cee Gee says:
