Psalms 17–18

Open Your Bible

Psalm 17:1-15, Psalm 18:1-50

There have been a few seasons in my adult life when it felt like I could not find steady ground. Work insecurity, financial hardship, loved ones managing devastating medical diagnoses, and myriad other issues marked every footfall. Do you know that feeling? When rest seems impossible not because of physical weariness but because of the sheer weight of all you are carrying?

That posture marks David’s cry in Psalm 17. He wrote of “deadly enemies that surround me” (Psalm 17:9) who “advance against me” and are “determined to throw me to the ground” (v.11). David’s prayer here is a deep cry for justice as he appealed to his character and his faithfulness to God. In verse 1, he wrote, “listen to my prayer— from lips free of deceit.” David reminded the Lord that he had sought to follow Him well, but David did not rely on his own works so that the Lord would save him.

Rather, the prayer hinges on verses 6–7. David said: “I call on you, God, because you will answer me; listen closely to me; hear what I say. Display the wonders of your faithful love, Savior of all who seek refuge from those who rebel against your right hand.” In this prayer we see two primary pillars that David stood on as he felt oppressed on every side by his enemies.

First, David appealed to the Lord’s faithfulness to hear: “I call on you, God, because you will answer me” (v.6). This appears throughout the psalms as a consistent phrase of David’s because he could trace through his life story the times he had seen the Lord hear and respond to him. David’s plea is personal, rooted in his own experience of God always hearing, always caring for him.

Second, David called upon the “faithful love” of the Lord. The Hebrew word he used here is hesed, a word often used to describe the unfailing faithfulness of God. This specific word is used in Scripture for the love God showed to Abraham and Joseph, the love David showed to Jonathan and Mephibosheth, the love that appears more than one hundred times in the psalms, the love Boaz showed to Ruth and Naomi, and on and on. In Exodus 34, when God revealed himself to Moses, He used the word hesed when He said, “The LORD—the LORD is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth” (Exodus 34:6).

David’s prayer for mercy and deliverance was not based on his actions or emotions; rather, it was deeply rooted in his knowledge of God’s character (His hesed) and His faithfulness to hear. As we pray throughout this Lenten season, may we remember to pray to the Lord who is faithful to love us in every circumstance. He is the Savior of all who seek refuge.

What stood out to me today is how David reminded the Lord that he was free of sin and how the Lord heard his cry because of this. Psalm 28:20-27

May I have clean hands and a pure heart before you, Lord!

Lord hear my prayers. I seek refuge. I Am in the troubled darkness that Melanie speaks of. I pray out please help. I feel like I don’t even know how to pray because I want to pray in thanksgiving and blessings but I am also in such a dark time. I try to envision the footprints in the sand poem as that is how I feel right now. Lord I see refuge. Hear my prayer. Amen.

  12. ucobb says:

David was quite honest here…..He poured His heart out and was most vulnerable. God is most faithful to us…. I personally have encountered the faithful love of God, as the author described. When you serve a faithful God, you are confident that during trials and night seasons, His faithful love will keep you, save and deliver you. David leaned upon Gods protection, just like we can- today and always.

  13. Heather Savage says:

I love how psalm 17 is a prayer from David KNOWING God hears him and comes through, and then psalm 18 was evidence of it. As someone going through and incredibly tough time (psalm 13 has been a consistent prayer from me since yesterday) I must remember that God is faithful, He does listen, He does anger when we’re wronged.

  14. Joanna Shaw says:

Keep my eyes on Jesus! He has been and will always be ….faithful

  15. Savannah Falley says:

Today’s readings is a reminder for me to speak confidently to the Lord in prayer. “I call upon you, for you will answer me. Hear my words. O Lord.”

  16. Alayna P. says:

My verse today is Psalm 18:2

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

It reminds me that even in fear or weakness, I have a steadfast, unshakable God to rely on.

  17. Meagan C says:

I have to be honest. I haven’t been the best daughter of the Lord recently. This winter has been a hard one, and too often I’ve turned inward instead of toward Him when looking for a way out of my misery.

    When I read:

20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; he repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands.

21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord
and have not turned from my God to wickedness.

22 Indeed, I let all his ordinances guide me and have not disregarded his statutes.

23 I was blameless toward him and kept myself from my iniquity.

24 So the Lord repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

I can’t help but think – why on Earth would God help me? If God repays good for good, what is the point of even trying? What’s the point of grace if that’s how this really works?

Then I remember that David was a fallen man, as well. He was not perfect. I can’t imagine that even before his sin of adultery he was completely “blameless” in the eyes of the Lord. There’s no way, because only Jesus is blameless. David needed saving just as much as anyone, because he was born a sinful man just like the rest of us.

So I am reminded that just as God saved David, a sinner, who’s heart was after the Lord’s own heart, God will save me. Because He loves me. Because He is faithful.

May I choose each day to live after God’s own heart, and remember that He will be faithful to guide me.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Thank you. I was just reading (again) that same passage and thinking that same thing. I’m thinking- we all call on the Lord when we need him, but most often don’t walk in obedience beforehand!

    2. ucobb says:

Thank you for sharing! Oh where we would be without the saving GRACE of God. I’m so glad that God doesn’t love me according to my frailty, weakness, and disobedience. We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We were born into sin and shaped in iniquity….We all like sheep have gone astray….. And we all are in need of God’s saving grace. Not just the grace given to us at our initial coming to Jesus through the gift of SALVATION but also the regenerative gift of sanctification – which cleans us daily and sets us apart for the service of the Lord. The gift of the Holy Spirit which leads us in truth, convicts us of sin and disobedience, and helps us to live our life in surrender to the will of our Heavenly Father with POWER. Thanks be to God for the grace extended to David- and thanks be to God for His grace given to us!

Today’s verse for me is Ps 18:30. “God‘s weight is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true.”
I have seen that over and over again. I’d like the reminder today that when we are going through a difficult time, we need to look back at all he has done for us. God‘s word is true. He is faithful.

    1. Tricia C says:

That should say God’s way is perfect.

Hi sisters, I haven’t had the opportunity to read today’s readings, but just wanted to pop in and ask for prayer. Yesterday, quite suddenly the Norovirus came. I was fine one minute, & the next I wasn’t. It was the worst night that I can ever remember. I don’t think I have ever been that sick in my life. Thinking of David & his prayers, the only energy I had was to say, Lord – help! …Prayers please that it will pass quickly as on Monday Jeff and I have a Pastor and wives conference to go to that has been booked since last year. Prayers also that Jeff does not get it or our son Jonathan who stopped in yesterday in the middle of the day because he got bit by a dog at his job. The bite just about took his earlobe off and he had to have nine stitches to put it back together. He begins moving home on Saturday and cannot afford to be sick. Thank you in advance for your prayers, and I hope none of you get this horrible virus.

    1. Mercy says:

Oh my goodness, praying for your strong recovery in time for your conference, and healing for Jonathan.

    2. Tricia C says:

      Praying now Sharon.

    3. Tanya Evans says:

      Praying Sharon jersey Girl! Praying

    4. Cee Gee says:

Oh, bless your heart- and Jonathan’s! Praying the virus is very short-lived and that Jeff and Jonathan don’t catch it!
Prayers also for healing for Jonathan’s ear and move and for this conference: that you and Jeff will come away refreshed and renewed! ❤

“You have made a wide path for my feet
    to keep them from slipping.”
    Psalm 18:36 (NLT)
This verse speaks to me this morning. My Lord knows my failings & foibles intimately. I need neither explain myself nor flagellate myself. I need only trust He moves ahead of me with speed & strength. In faithful love there is no fear. Though yet I stumble. I will not fall.

  25. MARTHA HIX says:

Thank you Lord, for your mercy, grace, forgiveness, and that you’re always there for us, that we can rest in you forevermore. Thank you for restoration and for holding on to our right hand and lifting us up. Thankful that we can whisper your name and know that you are with us. ❤️

    1. Tricia C says:

      Yes! Thank you Lord!

  26. Cee Gee says:

I did my study time, then ran out for groceries. Back now!
Today’s read reminds me that ONLY GOD can love like He loves! We are commanded to follow in His footsteps, however:
    Deuteronomy 6:4 NLT

“… The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. 5 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”
    ✨✨✨
I was reminded today of one of my favorite passages:
    Zephaniah 3:17 NLT:
For the LORD your God is living among you.
    He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

  28. Kristy says:

As I read these Psalms I catch myself wanting all of this for my children, praying the Psalms over them. When I read each Psalm I see the heart of our Father. If me with all my imperfections want, protection, wisdom, joy, stability, righteousness, and peace for my children. How much more does he, who if perfectly good, want that for them AND me?
My strength, my rock, my fortress, my deliver, my shield…. That’s Father language. Fierce, protective, personal!
Throughout the entire book of Psalms I have prayers wrote out for my children. “I want this for my kids” I feel like this week He has said to me, “Kristy, I want this for you!” He is a GOOD, good Father. My rock, my shield, my strength, my deliver. With him I can attack a barricade, and with my God I can leap over a wall!! (18.29)

    1. Tricia C says:

      Beautiful word Kristy!

  29. Erica Chiarelli says:

Steadfast. Faithful. This is our God, always..He was then, He is now, and forevermore will be!

  30. Annie says:

Thank You God that You are the Savior of all who seek refuge in You. Thank You for Your faithful love and thank You that You hear when I cry out to You.

  31. Adrienne says:

Psalm 17 really jumped out at me today, and I had the thought… “Why me?” I know that on this earth believers will have trouble. But sometimes it seems like we try to do everything “right”, and it seems like it is not enough sometimes, you know? (We are not in the wicked camp… or are we?) I need to remember the message from the Ash Wednesday service last night… I am JUSTIFIED, not because of WHO I AM or WHAT I DO. I just need to focus on doing the next right thing with excellence. (Thank you Allie Beth Stuckey for that constant reminder.)

  32. Julie says:

Gods love for me will always be there. He is my rock!!

  33. Traci Gendron says:

So many good songs posted by Lauren Daigle. As I was reading the lyrics I could hear her singing. So beautiful.
    .
Psalm 18:30 God-His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is pure. He is a sheild to all who take refuge in Him.

  34. Katarina Friedman says:

What a great reminder this morning that God is faithful and loving. He is my rock and shield. He hears me when I call.

  35. Mari V says:

Hesed: Steadfast love. Loyal love. Kindness. Mercy. A deep, covenantal, and unconditional love that goes BEYOND obligation, acting as a binding commitment to kindness, often between God and HIS people. YOU and I sweet She’s! I had to look this up. I love how it reads His love goes BEYOND obligation. OUR JESUS simply loves us! Sending this to my daughter as she missed home group last night due to a educational meltdown (for lack of better words) Seeking prayer for her as she reached out to a her academic counselor regarding a class. She admits and owns up to her part but this class is stressing her out to the max. Please pray for my daughter Alyssa.

    1. Marie S says:

praying now, that the God who gives “hesed” love to Alyssa, grants it to all Shes who are His alone. Lord, please grant wisdom, assurance and mercy to sweet Alyssa and give her grace to move forward in her studies. Give her rest, Lord, when she settles her head on her pillow tonight and favor with her professor. We pray in Jesus name.

  36. Marla says:

    Psalm 18:30 & 2 Samuel 22:31 CSB
God-his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in him.❤️

  37. Maria B says:

Last September, my pastor at Pleasant Valley Church in Winona, MN, shared a sermon called “A Fish Named Hesed.” Pastor Chad did a beautiful job explaining the theme of hesed (God’s covenant love and steadfast mercy) using the story of Jonah as the background.

If you get a chance, I’d really encourage you to listen to it (You can find it in YouTube). It was a moving sermon and a meaningful reminder of how persistent and faithful God’s love is.

  38. Rhonda J. says:

Good Morning She’s! Loving the replies and comments daily. It definitely adds to the Psalms, sharing how they speak to you.
Everyone faces trials and trouble, but we
are so used to 1- complaining about everything that happens to us 2- trying to work it out for ourselves 3- talking about our enemies to everyone that will listen! Don’t you find that…even in our Christian circles. Oh I am so happy to have such God loving, fearing, trusting, praying-friends!! I have learned walking with them that they don’t do this, they are teaching me we go to God right away. We talk about God right away…speaking HIS mighty name in most of our conversations. Before falling into gossip, our emotional feelings, my complaints of sickness and pain they turn it to reflecting it to a follower and believer of Christ Jesus!! The one we cast our cares on, trust and obey, believe and trust. It is truly refreshing and valuable to have these friends and mentors in your life. It keeps us humble that we are but dust and finite.
BUT God..the ONE that makes the universe, the stars and mountains, oceans deep and wide cares about us. He sees us, and delights us, even. Just like we love our children and want them to succeed. To be equipped. To know that things that bother them will quickly vanish and they will be happy around the next bin. It’s all about perspective. When we delight in the Lord, His light will disperse the darkness.
This is so true when we are IN the troubles and afflictions and such a power testimony!! How much more does our belief and trust shine when we are in a dark period?!! When we verify that we have faith. And that we are going to walk through the trial with courageous, boldness and strength, not of our own violation, but of HIS POWER in us. God WITH us. The HOLY SPIRIT was given to us for this very reason. To comfort, guide, safeguard, discern, hope, advocate, teach..! Can we not be more confident with this LIVING HOPE as we are in the Lenten season!! God sent His SON..to live as human, but to go to the cross, for us, as the sacrifice FOR us! That should make us fall on our face in thankfulness and gratitude. If nothing else goes right in our life—WE, in Christ, have salvation. This life is not the end, we will live for eternity in the new heavens!!
BUT until then..it’s not just trying to hold on! It is holding on with HOPE. And JOY. WITH the HOLY SPIRIT in us. Filling us daily when we ask and seek it! Don’t live without a fresh infilling. Watch him work in and through you!
Psalm 18 says it is the Psalm of David AFTER being RESCUED by the Lord! How much more powerful is it that we had all the Psalms previous where is is scared, alone, and looking hopeless and he was crying out to the Lord. “I sought the Lord, and he heard and he answered..” The whole of Psalms really. Let us remember that today. And if you are in the valley, the cave, the pit, or fire, or at the wall of the Red Sea that looks impossible- Keep seeking. He wants us to keep praying. It is powerful, and then what a testimony we have from our tests! Seek and you shall find…ask and you will receive, knock and the door will be opened! Steadfast.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Great encouragement, Rhonda! I love your reply to Tami, too! ❤

‘Hesed’, His unfailing faithfulness. I am pondering and leaning into this chatscter

  40. Karen Swanson says:

So far it seems each day A Psalm has used the phrase at your right hand. I love that image. Being so very close. Physically attached to god. Yes being at the right hand of someone is a position of honor. Weather in a meeting or at a banquet table. But the physical image of God being so very close to me. Literally at my right hand and me at hips has resonated each psalm it has been used in.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, that phrase has really stuck out to me in the last few years, thank you for clarifying it better!

  41. Wendy B says:

Like many of the pages in my Bible, that are in the Psalm, chapters 17 and 18 have underlined or circled verses and key words and also my own notes in the margin. “hear me, Lord”, “cry out to Jesus”, “Hold onto Jesus”. it seems that these days, many of us can relate to the weight of what our devotional writer shares – thank you Melanie Rainer.

Heavenly Father, thank you that you hear us when we call out, that you give ear to our prayers Lord. Thank you that your are our strength and shield, our rock and refuge. We praise you Lord that upu have given us victory and we can rest in you. Amen

    1. Cee Gee says:

I love being drawn to highlights/underiines and ‘old notes’ in the margins and reviewing them! ❤

  42. Tami says:

I am reminded of the song “Rescue Story” by Lauren Daigle.
    You are not hidden
There’s never been a moment you were forgotten
    You are not hopeless
Though you have been broken, your innocence stolen
I hear you whisper underneath your breath
I hear your SOS, your SOS
I will send out an army to find you
In the middle of the darkest night
It’s true, I will rescue you
    There is no distance
That cannot be covered over and over
    You’re not defenseless
I’ll be your shelter, I’ll be your armor

I have been struggling these last few days about not being enough, doing enough, having enough faith. I’ve been fighting the stronghold of comparison here in Honduras towards others on the team whom I perceive to be more gifted, more faith-filled, more whatever. My enemies are not physical like they were for David, they are the thoughts that go through my head sometimes. I was severely bullied as a tween/teen and these feelings of not fitting in, not being enough, part of the group etc surface sometimes.
Have a blessed day ladies. Doing my best to keep up:)

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Oh Tami!! YOU are YOU! Uniquely you, with your own gifts and personality!! You have traveled to Honduras to HELP others, to serve selflessly. Not once, but often!! You care not only about your prodicals, but ours. You were a caring caretaker for your brother, for so many years! Quit letting the Devil have his way with you, that is his perfect attack and he knows it! Pray In JESUS’ name, he has no control over you. YOU are HIS, and doing mighty works for your SAVIOR and LORD!!! You have your lane, and your race, and an audience of one to please! And that you are!

      1. Foster Mama says:

Ooof!! Could NOT have said it better than RHONDA J ♥️♥️

(It’s amazing to shake my head, reading this from a sister, but know that I too step into that narrative often)

        For all of us:

“I renounce you Satan, and all your dirty tricks that pull us away from hearing the clear voice of our Saviour and how we are seen in Him”

        **

I love that song by Lauren Daigle….thank you for the reminder!!
Today, the “There is no distance
That cannot be covered over and over
        ….
I’ll be your shelter” is striking me the most.

Thank you for convincting my heart this morning in the midst of serving in Honduras; God bless you ❤️

        1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes! I heard a new to me song by Lauren Daigle (it’s from 7 yrs ago..I don’t know how it wasn’t more popular) that is so simple and beautiful that I played at jail yesterday called “Love Like This.”
          When I am a wasteland
          You are the water
          When I am the winter
You are the fire that burns
When I am a long night
          You are the sunrise
          When I am a desert
You are the river that turns
          To find me
What have I done to deserve love like this?
What have I done to deserve love like this?”

It’s so beautiful how he loves us, from mercy and grace, undeserving, but he does!! And then, we GET to be sanctified to his image!! Looking back and seeing it is truly amazing!!

      2. Cee Gee says:

Such encouraging words, Rhonda, and so true!
        .
TAMI, I am praying along with our sisters here for confidence in your gift/s and the peace of God as you try to be the best you can be and do the best you can with the gifts He gave YOU! Tina nailed that part perfectly!!! Just thinking humorously here: if everyone at church was the preacher there would be no congregation to preach to, etc. I am not making light of your feelings at all, but hope that brought a little perspective and maybe a smile. I know you must be physically exhausted, too, so praying for stamina to stay on top of YOUR duties. ❤

    2. Rebecca W says:

Tami I’m sorry old wounds are resurfacing. Praying for you now to trust that God has you, and He’s the only one that matters.

    3. Tina says:

Tami, oh my dear, if I had your no. I would have called you to tell you you are enough. And certainly in Gods eyes the people you feel compelled to compare yourself with.. they are probably thinking the same of you! As dear Rhonda put it, you have gone to Honduras to help others.. you have selflessly given your time constantly whether it be family or those you meet for the first time.. God gives you the wings to fly on His behalf. And remember, for life to work within an organisation, there are many parts, those who hug well, those who cook well, those who minister well. those who have the ability to mend, fix, build..what I’m trying to say is we all have our gifts.. and as long as we apply them well, we do not need to look at others and feel ‘lesser than’
You are an amazing woman, Daughter of the Most High God, Tami.. and you do well!!!
      Hugs ❤️

      1. Cee Gee says:

        Beautifully said, Tina! ❤

      2. Rhonda J says:

That is so good to point out, that everyone on a team (and the BIG TEAM as followers) have just the right gifts to share!! Oh how that speaks. Each one of us something that someone needs!! Sometimes just a listening ear, or a phone call to check in! Nothing seemingly grand. When I get discouraged that my pain keeps me laying on the couch instead of “Seizing the day,” I CAN write a letter to one of my butterflies (or several)…and guess what- THEY are blessed every time (right moment, right prayer, right whatever (by God, not me!) and that blesses me and shows me God’s diving power!!
Oh how we need attitude adjustments SO often!!
And we love how you, OUR dear Tina, COOKS for God!!

    4. Darby Byrd says:

Praying for the confidence of the Lord to overcome those thoughts, and for you to know that you are so loved and gifted!

    5. Carol H says:

We all have been given different gifts according to the grace given us. Thank you for using your special gifts, Tami. Christ considers you trustworthy and will give you strength for your service. Praying for your mission ❤️

    6. Mercy says:

Hope you are having fun in Honduras. How cool is that sister. Comparison is the thief of joy. And godliness and contentment is great gain. Being content is a reward in itself. I am so proud of you. Hugs Tami.

  43. Searching says:

AMY LAFOLLETTE praying for Eden and for you in these heart wrenching circumstances. Praying for healing and a turning to the Lord for her, and for strength for you on this difficult journey, nothing is too difficult for God.
    JACKIE N ❤️
MINDY MARTIN ❤️ the promise of eternal life with Christ, amen. Praying as you praise in the grief of earthly loss of your daughter, her heavenly gain.
LAUREN M I am so sorry for this season of loss, praying for the Lord’s comfort, strength and guidance.
EMMA RAGETH, AG, VICTORIA E and others who are struggling or have struggled with infertility and/or pregnancy loss – God sees the pain, may He comfort us all. ❤️
MERCY ❤️ reading and rereading your excellent share yesterday. Praying for Canada and protection of freedom of speech, unity, level headedness. Once laws are passed, they are difficult, near impossible, to reverse – with those that did the writing and the passing of the laws being subject to them along with everyone else.
HEIDI – how long? Such a hard question in the pain and confusion of waiting as I ask it everyday for situations in my prayers. Reminded that He does hear me, and the ‘how long’ is guided by His wisdom and determined by His perfect plan. But still hard.
CEE GEE ❤️ need your edit wisdom for completing all replies before checking the box – after EVERY reply, I’m thrown out of the comments and back to the devo?
    WENDY B ❤️
    LIBBY ❤️

    1. Rhonda J says:

Thank you for always listing ones we can pray for again.
And same with me after EVERY reply, I have to go back in. It has never let me make multiple replies at once…that would be SO helpful!!
I just tried to leave this under you, but when I pushed reply on the next one, it just goes under their name.

    2. Tina says:

Hugs and prsyers over you, Searching❤️

    3. Cee Gee says:

Yes, Searching, thanks so much for listing these prayer needs! ❤

When I hit the ‘lockout’ (actually happened yesterday), I close out the page and boot it back up. That always works even though it can be a pain. That’s the reason I recommended completing ALL replies first. Maybe the tech team can figure out why the edit blocks commenting. Until then we will do what we have to. ☺ I hope that works on your device. As I mentioned yesterday, ny experimenting has only been on my Kindle. ❤ Edit wisdom ☺☺☺ you bless my heart!

    4. MARTHA HIX says:

Thank you Searching for the listing of prayers. ❤️
I too encounter the same thing after each reply.

    5. Lauren M says:

❤️ thank you so much for your kind words and remembering me in prayer

  44. Penny W says:

In Psalm 18:24 David said, “You repaid me according to my righteousness…” I’m so glad that I don’t have to rely on my own righteousness, because I would fall so far short. Praise God that Christ is my Righteousness! Because of Christ’s work on the cross, I can stand before God. Hallelujah!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      AMEN!

    2. Grammie D says:

      Amen!

  45. Lori Battaglia says:

Oh Lord you are Faithful and true.

“The Lord keeps me safe. He is my great rock and my strong place. God is my high rock. I run to him to hide and be safe. He keeps me safe like a soldier’s shield.
He is the strong place where I can hide safely.” Lord, help me to run to you and nowhere else! Amen.

  49. LaRae Taylor says:

    ❤️

  50. Melissa Vandiver says:

“Keep me as the apple of your eye” that’s what I am meditating on today. We are already dearly loved by God as his child, I don’t need to do anything to be in His good graces. Just as I love my kids, He loves me.

    1. Tami says:

What a great reminder. Thank you!

  51. Tanya Evans says:

18:29-30, ” Lord, you light my lamp; my God illuminates darkness.

With you I can attack a barricade, and with my God I can leap a wall.”

God empowers us! Verses like: ” With God all things are possible” came to mind,” Abide in me.”

We have to call out and cry out to Him.

Throughout these readings, I am getting a strong rescue vibe! Jesus, who is God was and still is a on a rescue mission!
Any of you ever get separated from young children and you heard the cry of your child on the next aisle in the store, or ” Mom?” The voice activation of that cry and the speed/ haste we make to answer that call that is God times 10!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, this is so good Tanya!! We must CRY out to our God…COME LORD, HELP ME!! That is a humble cry of surrender, knowing we can’t do it on our own. Love the analogy of our child yelling out for us!!

    2. Tina says:

what an analogy. beautiful! Thank you Tanya..❤️

    3. Julia Lemmens says:

      ❤️ good reminder

  52. Abigail W says:

I love learning more about the specific words chosen in Hebrew, it’s always so illuminating

    1. Libby K says:

Same, Abigail! The depth of meaning can change drastically based on the Hebrew words. It’s so exciting!

  53. Aimee D-R says:

I seek Your refuge Lord! Amen

  54. Renee Evans says:

I really needed this today. Yes, God will hear, Talk to HIM!! Thank you Lord for always being there. ❤️

  55. Kelly (NEO) says:

    Today’s verse for me is Psalm 18:35 “You have given me the shield of your salvation;

    your right hand upholds me,

    and your humility exalts me.”
    .
I am soul-safe under Jesus’ shield of shed blood and raised to new life (exalted) because of His death (humility).
    .
    Praying for your requests.

  56. Kayla Bostwick says:

    Amen!

  57. Sally B. says:

David was so good at magnifying the Lord!! When we are pressed and burdened, may we also remember where our help comes from: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Ps 18:2
Let us call upon the name of the Lord, who is worthy of all praise!!

    1. Tara B says:

      Amen!

    2. Tina says:

      Amen.!!! Sally.❤️

  58. Melissa Lance says:

Thank you for your faithful love Lord. Amen❤️

  59. Andrea P says:

Thank you Lord that you hear me. Thank you for your faithfulness. Amen ❤️
