Psalm 134; Colossians 3:16

Text: Psalm 134; Colossians 3:16

Have you ever happened on someone in worship or just in a plain good mood and been completely perplexed as to how they got there? What in the world could they possibly be so happy about? It’s just a random weekday and there surely can’t be that much coffee to make anyone that happy, right? Just me?

Praise doesn’t just happen. Psalm 134 kind of praise doesn’t just happen. Standing all night, with your hands lifted to the Father, smile on your face, blessing the Lord! It sounds beautiful – but are you there today? Can you muster up enough joy or exaltation or gratefulness within you to just stand up and start praising? Before you feel like a Debbie Downer who can’t get her junk together, remember Colossians 3. We hear again about thankfulness and joy and singing – but you know what comes first? Letting His Word dwell in you richly. She Reads Truth. And then she believes truth. And then she lets it permeate every single part of her soul and dwell in her till it’s flavor is rich everywhere within in her, like a dessert that you just cannot forget.

The word “dwell” here is the greek word enoikeō. It means to dwell in one and influence him. This should encourage us and spur us, ladies, to dig in and be influenced by God’s Word. How else would we do life? How else would we praise? How else would we do community with one another? It all starts with letting truth at our hearts and letting it change us.

How is God’s Word affecting you today?
What might you be trying to do without first being influenced by His truth?

    Hello sisters I have been following but not posting. This morning I did but I guess it didn’t go anywhere. There were only 3 other posts. I’d like to repost. Hope that’s okay:

    What shall i rendor unto thee? Everything! For you do all things well.

    Lord what must i put in the BASKET today? Health issues, finances, unfulfilled dreams, missed opportunities, sadness, lonliness, fear, loveones, my future. Your word says;

    Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. Luke 17:33.

    I am always moved by this story. How that mother must have felt, we can’t bear sending our kids to school. She put everything out there. And God knew! HE KNEW! Ladies thats enough to make me throw this walker to the side and do a little jig. He knows, he sees me, you, us! In our mess, in our pain, in our disappointments, in our hopes and dreams.

    What is so awesome about our savior is that he never just does. He always does exceedelingly above what we pray or imagine. God didn’t just save her son, but he let her know he was safe and then turned around and gave her back the very thing she had let go of.

    SRT thank u for reminding me to let go and let God!

    Father, this morning I put that Thing in the basket. I don’t have to say it. I am trusting you with the out come. In Jesus name Amen.
