Text: Micah 4:1-7
Here is what being a writer looks like for me today.
I am sitting in Starbucks because this is the day of the week when my kids are home with their papa, and heaven knows I would get no work done if I tried to do it there (unless you count playing board games as work, which, if you’re playing Mouse Trap with 5 year olds, you totally should). So, I’m at a coffee shop and I’m reading this incredible passage from Micah 4 again, this time with the hope of recalling some personal, preferably interesting story I can connect to the Scripture.
Want to know what is happening instead? Weeping. Real, honest-to-goodness, snotty tears.
“Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore;
but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree,
and no one shall make them afraid,
for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.”
– Micah 4:3-4, ESV (emphasis mine)
As I sit here reading these verses today, all I can see in my mind’s eye are armies upon armies of child soldiers, faces spanning countries and decades of injustice and unrest. I see black and white photos of the boy faces in Hitler’s training camps in the 40’s, African children bearing heavy rifles with solemn eyes, American sons and daughters on the front lines of political and religious wars they should not have to fight. The images play in my head like a slideshow, pictures of my own children interspersed throughout, smiling and blessedly naive. And the tears keep coming.
This is not how it’s supposed to be. We whisper these words when we watch the news, when we walk past the homeless shelter and visit the orphanage, when a beloved friend suffers or a family member dies too soon. And we are right. This is not how it is supposed to be. The prophet MIcah reminds us—This is not how it will be.
Eugene Peterson’s paraphrase of the passage in The Message paints a beautiful and profound picture of the coming Kingdom of our Lord. Let’s take a minute and read it now—
But when all is said and done,
God’s Temple on the mountain,
Firmly fixed, will dominate all mountains,
towering above surrounding hills.
People will stream to it
and many nations set out for it,
Saying, “Come, let’s climb God’s mountain.
Let’s go to the Temple of Jacob’s God.
He will teach us how to live.
We’ll know how to live God’s way.”
True teaching will issue from Zion,
God’s revelation from Jerusalem.
He’ll establish justice in the rabble of nations
and settle disputes in faraway places.
They’ll trade in their swords for shovels,
their spears for rakes and hoes.
Nations will quit fighting each other,
quit learning how to kill one another.
Each man will sit under his own shade tree,
each woman in safety will tend her own garden.
God-of-the-Angel-Armies says so,
and he means what he says.
Meanwhile, all the other people live however they wish,
picking and choosing their gods.
But we live honoring God,
and we’re loyal to our God forever and ever.
“On that great day,” God says,
“I will round up all the hurt and homeless,
everyone I have bruised or banished.
I will transform the battered into a company of the elite.
I will make a strong nation out of the long lost,
A showcase exhibit of God’s rule in action,
as I rule from Mount Zion, from here to eternity.
– Micah 4:1-8, The Message
The reign of Christ is like no other. Nations will turn weapons of death into tools of harvest. The beat up and left out will be welcomed in and made strong. Peace will take the place of war, and fear itself will be obsolete—all in the name of Jesus. Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Today in the comments, let’s pray the truth of Micah 4:1-8 over our families, our communities, our countries, our world. Let’s praise the One who came not just to bring us peace, but to be our peace.

Thank you Lord for being our peace. Please keep our thoughts, words, and actions centered upon living for you! God you alone bring purpose and peace. You are my fuel to live in this messed up world!
So encouraging!
I’m a bit behind in this study, but I’m so glad I picked up my Bible and prayed for an open heart this morning. I tend to get lost in the Old Testament sometimes, but as I went back over it it dawned on me that this will be a Kingdom in which there is no fear. I’m afraid of everything- pumping gas, finding my classes, signing up for anything, grocery shopping. You name it, and I fear it. For me, this is such an incredible promise that there will be a world in which fear is completely gone. Wars will cease. The horrible things that happen in this world will no longer exist and all I can say is that God is very, very good.
Oh how wonderful this devotion is in the midst of so much tragedy this December. Every time I watch the news there is a new story to mourn and pray over. But what joy to lift up our eyes and see Jesus the Prince of Peace returning soon to take away the darkness!
Reading this reminded me of a passion that surfaced within me over a year ago to rescue and rehabilitate child soldiers in Eastern Africa. I don’t know how I lost sight of that in the midst of all my plans for this small life of mine- but oh, how grateful I am that you remembered those precious babies here. Thank you for thinking of them and reminding us to do the same.
Watching the news of the terrible tragedy in Glasgow I want the families affected to know this is not how it not meant to be and that our Lord will wipe their tears away.
One who came not just to bring us peace, but to be our peace. Not everyone that calls on the name of God has that peace. Today as a I reflect on the day I am sadden about all the people in my life that do not know THAT peace that God came to give us. It is only when we have that peace can our lights shine brightly before others. When you don't have THAT peace you continue to make foolish decisions. How do you explain THAT peace to someone who thinks they have it. It is very difficult for me to guide/direct the people that are closest to me back to Him. I try to live the example but I have a hard time speaking up without sounding like I'm peaching. Father my prayer today is that those people that are close to me will have THAT same peace that You have given to me.
I completely understand how you feel. It is so difficult to bring people that are dear to me back to know Him and His peace. Especially the ones so close to me. I always stress myself out about being a good example, and if I fail I just feel so helpless. But although it may seem impossible with me, nothing is impossible with God. So today, my prayer is to also give my worries to God, and know that in the end He will reign and He knows what He is doing. Lord I pray for those who do not know you and who are suffering around the world. The oppressed who are wondering why they are going through so much pain. Lord I pray that you can work in their hearts. Send someone their way to help them feel Your peace and love and make Your promise known.
Praying for you today Patricia! I pray that we both continue to live our lives as an example before others. God bless you today!
Amen..
Thankful for the beauty, peace and love that is to come. Praise God!
I have never read Micah and today’s devotion is so full of promise. In a world that is so crazy and in chaos we cling to the promise that there is light at the end of the tunnel as this is not how it is supposed to be.
We are promised so many beautiful things. Thanks be to God !
I am so thankful for today's lesson. Sometimes it is way too easy to watch the news and mentally block out the problems we see occurring in our city/town, state, or nation. The truth is we need prayer, and tons of it!
Lord, we need you today. Right now, we are suffering from a Spirit of dispute and violence. Grant us provision and peace in the areas of police-civilian relations in urban communities, reconciliation with nations (North Korea), and an end to senseless killing. Heal us of any prejudice hearts and help us to love our brother/sister. You created each of us with care and I pray that you assist us in seeing the beauty in everyone, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, or lifestyle. Teach us how to carry the love of Jesus for others. Thank you for the promises of Micah 4. Amen.
Thankful for the promises of Micah 4. My 3 year old son has battled cancer for almost 3 years. I cannot help but sometimes think this isn’t how it should be. But the victory is already won and one day there will be no more pain or tears! Praise God for his promises.
Oh my Sarah, I’m so sorry. I will keep you and your little bug in my prayers.
Finding comfort in the fact that this is not the way it will be. My husband’s mom is going to pass away from cancer and I can’t help but think “this is not how it’s supposed to be.” But there is comfort in knowing that I’m not in control and that God will turn it for His good and glory.
Lord please always let us remember this! We admit it is too easy, embarrassingly, for us to admit. You are so great that even a king was afraid of you as a newborn. Please lead our hearts to love others wherever in the world we are so that they may see even a glimpse of your goodness, in our messy lives – in our messy worlds. Rule over our intentions and mistakes, so they may see You, and know Peace.
Today I need peace. Peace for my soul, my heart, my family, my mother. My mother has end stage dementia she also has pneumonia and has been in the hospital for 4 days now. Today she is raging. I have rebuked the demons in her mind and mouth, yes even we Methodist rebuke. I am in the chapel now having called my husband back to the hospital to keep her in bed until they find a sedative that will work. I have sent my dad home since he had to struggle with her all night. I have rearranged Christmas with our families. I have missed church to be a caregiver. But my heart is broken for the things she said to me, for the physical violence I have never seen. “Knowing” that she is not really my mother and just someone occupying her body with a demented mind does not help the heart. So I pray for a peace to my family’s war with dementia and illness right now. Thank you for s place to vent.
Praying for you Claire. What a picture of Christ you are being to your mother as she struggles. Peace and comfort to you from our Heavenly Father.
Oh, Claire. My dad watched his mother also battle this disease. Praying strength and peace over you and you family.
Claire, may the Good Lord heal your mother . Amen.
"Fear itself will be obsolete." Oh, how I long for this day. Even in the midst of this joyful holiday season, there is still fear. Fear that my friend's unborn baby has developed a problem given some recent symptoms she's been showing. Fear that the various illnesses going around will be caught by our seven week old and land her in the hospital. Fear of something happening while we travel.
But even in the joyful time when Jesus was born, the angels still had to come to Mary, to Joseph, to the shepherds and first tell them to not fear or be afraid.
I pray for peace and freedom from fears as we all prepare to celebrate our Savior's birth and enter into a new year.
Lord Jesus, I thank you for the victory and freedom for my family- that they will know the truth and the truth will set them free! Father, I pray for our own nation- for the turmoil, anger, dissatisfaction, and brokenness- would you come and bring wholeness today! And God, I pray for the nations of the earth today- that the turmoil, war, strife, slavery, poverty & pain would be quieted by your sweet sweet peace! Jesus, come and take your rightful place as King of the heavens and the earth! Thank you for coming and we await your return~
Father I lift up my cry to you for an all to ugly diagnosis just received by a friend who is much too young. There is heartbreak, confusion, anger, and devastation in a message so crushing at a time where we are meant to be rejoicing. Let us still confidently rejoice that you do MIGHTY works for us and our loved ones. Bring peace to the broken, restore the sick, deliver the weary. We believe you will. We confess our sinfulness and praise you for your merciful power. Thank you Jesus that you reign over all.
Thank you Lord for reminding us of how things are not to be which gives us so much hope at this time! I pray Micah 4:1-8 over my family, neighborhood, nation and world this day.
“for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.”
Enemy be still, quit your labors because you know that He is Lord, that He has already won and your destruction is imminent. Father let Your kingdom come and establish itself on earth today as it is in Heaven. Amen
Amen!
Such a good reminder that OUR God is greater than all the evil in this world and He is going to reign again! Praise God that there is hope for us, for our children, grandchildren, and all of the generations to come. May we "walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever."
Jesus thank you for being stronger than the forces of this world. Thank you for having provision. Please give peace today to those who need it. Meet us where we are at today. Make your presence known. We love you Jesus amen.
Amen
I haven't started my study for today yet. I am writing right now to ask for prayer. My marriage is under intense attack & my husband needs to know that God is real and that He cares about his pain & struggle. I am so grateful that I can ask you all for prayer…
Praying!
Praying
Praying!
Praying for you and your husband!
Knees in the dirt friend…
God is in the business of restoration! My marriage is a testimony to it! Praying for your marriage and for God's Spirit to be powerfully evident to the both of you. Peace.
Praying now, dear. God knows and He hears.
Thank you to each of you…I am so grateful for your prayers & just knowing I am not alone…
Today’s scripture and reading rings true for all of Creation. It GROANS awaiting the arrival of its rightful King.
This is what our sermon at church was about yesterday! Thank goodness for our powerful "Prince of Peace." No matter the circumstances or hardships, this week I am going to remind myself, as much as I can, the words of Jesus… "Peace I leave with you." Thank you, Jesus!
All I could think about as I read the passage from Micah today was the Rwandan genocide that happened the year I was born… All of the innocent lives of babies, children, moms, and dads that were taken in horrific ways in just 100 days, as nobody came to their aid… Oh Lord, how my heart breaks at the injustice of this sin-filled world. I long for the day when "neither shall they learn war anymore… and no one shall make them afraid". I long for the day when children won't be trained to kill their neighbor, when mothers no longer have to fear for their babies lives. I long for the day when the Gospel of Peace will reign in this broken world. Come, Lord Jesus..
Such lovely imagery! I pray for God's kingdom to come NOW – for His will to be done NOW – "on earth as it is in heaven"… Lord, give us Your Holy Spirit to guide us and do what we can NOW to further Your kingdom. I long to take that glorious walk up His mountain!
This is so hopeful in a world full of hopelessness and fear. Thank God for His redemption of this world someday!
Gonna lay down my burden,
Down by the riverside,
Down by the riverside,
Down by the riverside.
Gonna lay down my burden,
Down by the riverside,
Down by the riverside.
Chorus:
I ain't gonna study war no more,
study war no more,
ain't gonna study war no more.
I ain't gonna study war no more,
study war no more,
ain't gonna study oh war no more.
Other lines that can appear in stanzas, in place of "Gonna lay down my burden", include:
Gonna lay down my sword and shield
Gonna stick my sword in the golden sand
Gonna try on my long white robe
Gonna try on my starry crown
Gonna put on my golden shoes
Gonna talk with the Prince of Peace
Gonna shake hands around the world
Gonna cross the river Jordan
Gonna climb upon that mountain
Gonna climb the road to heaven
I don't know if anyone is familiar with this sing, but I am so reminded of this song as I thought more about this text this morning. Their shall be no more burdens, no more weapons, no more war…nothing but His awesome peace! Hallelujah and amen!
This couldn't have come at a more important time. As I tried to fall asleep last night, I continued to think about all the horrible things going on in the world, and it deeply troubled me. I know that this will not always be the case. He is Supreme! He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, all consuming, never giving up on us, God. I praise you, Lord, for your unwavering love and strength. Give us all peace in these times of trouble, and help us to be a light to others. This Christmas, I am planning for divine interruptions of reminders of You. I thank You for sending your Son to be wrapped in flesh to pay for what I couldn't. Today, as I go about my day, help me to embody an attitude that reflects your message. I praise you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
My uncle passed away yesterday. My family is in pain from the loss. My uncle was severely physically handicapped here on earth. He was never able to walk or talk. Now that he is with Jesus I know he is restored. Reading this passage today was such an encouragement and reminder of God's redemption. Thank you.
Praying for your family Amber and rejoicing with you in His heavenly arrival! Thank you for sharing.
Amber, asking that The Lord would wrap you in a blanket of peace this season. Loss is so devastating, but His peace can still overcome! That's my prayer for you, sister! Rejoicing for your uncle's restoration and healing! Love to you!

Abba Daddy, I pray that you would overwhelm us with your peace! That we would not become numb to all the hurt around us, all the war and chaos! That you would remind us that this is not how it is supposed to be! Daddy, I lift up my generation, we’ve been surrounded by these wars and political and religious fights since I can remember, they have made us numb and bitter, please awaken our hearts Lord! Remind us! Lord, I also pray for the next generations, that we would be able to teach them that this is not how it is supposed to be! That they would learn to love and adore you with their whole lives. And that they would know, that you are coming, and when you do, every tear will be wiped away and there will be no more hurt, no more pain, no more cancer, no more death! Thank you Lord, for all that you do and that you are faithful to the end! I love you so much! Amen.
I echo this prayer with all my heart! That WE WOULD rise up & teach the next generation that this is NOT the way it’s supposed to be!
^*gather for Christmas*
Dear Lord, as our families and friends father for Christmas this week, please let us have your peace among us. Let us realize that we truly can have it if we truly ask. As I go to work today, in the hectic, crazy, let me be able to spread peace and joy to my customers as they loads minute shop. Let me also spread your peace in my home as family come to visit. I pray Jesus we all can focus on you, and what you’ve done for us, even with all the horrible news we see everyday. Continue to let us shine your light in the midst of so much darkness. I pray this for every person reading this. Thank you Amanda and SRT.
This devotional is so timely considering everything that is going on in our world right now. We all need peace, even if we aren't personally in the midst of war or persecution. We need peace in relationships, with ourselves, with finances. Only God can bring that peace to us. Today, I pray for peace around the world and at home. I put my hope in God because he is the only one that can save us! Amanda is right, our world is not how its supposed to be. God's kingdom on Earth will be though!
This mornings devotional reminded me of a post by one of our fellow readers Candace Jo at http://www.hopeinthehealing.com/. I hope she doesn't mind me sharing this, but I have loved her recent posts about the history behind some of our favorite Christmas carols. The other day, she wrote about Do you Hear What I Hear?. The song is actually about peace! I'll let you read more about it on her blog though – she writes/explains it so much better than I could! http://www.hopeinthehealing.com/2014/12/14/pray-f…
Father, I pray for those who are battling a very serious war in the mind every single day. Please give them peace of mind instead. And for those people who the enemy has had a stronghold over their life for many years, please be the strong victor that comes to put an end to darkness and rescue us. We love you, Amen.
Echoing these prayers, sweet sister. Love to you!

(Whoops.)Wrapping paper, excited and sugared up kids, and ridiculous expectations of ourselves and eachother (not to mention epic family dynamics of mass proportions–at least in my clan). And there in the midst of it all, we are not ready at all. Instead if a radiant Bride, we are all tired frenzied Bridezilla. Our best-laid-out Soutgern Living plans gone waaaay South. We, your tribe. The only ones that could actually get it at all!!! And here you are, singing triumphantly in Micah–over the marginalized and Martha-ized alike. Singing over us. Imbibe us, precious risen, victorious Savior and Brother. Imbibe us to get behind you and ride with you on your White Horse and HERALD your victory. Because you said it. You did it. You are doing it. You will do it. You will finish all you promised. Help me pray for the tribes today. I’m leaving the caramel cake recipe behind–I’m gonna try my best to pray instead. Now I’m getting off my comfy chair to go hop on a plane. Help your Bride be beautiful and radiant, Dear Jesus.
Jessica, thank you so much for sharing these beautiful words. Echoing your prayers.
Lord, help your Bride to be beautiful and radiant for your Glory. Amen!

Jesus–it’s three days away. The day we’ve all set apart on our calendars to celebrate your coming totally lost in the mayhem of guests or travelling, wrapping paper,
I am newly married and have been in a lot of disagreements with my mother in law lately. I pray Micah 4 over our relationship today, I speak peace and not war, and have hope that we have a bright future together in Jesus mighty name!
I am praying for you, Meg, this morning.
Meg, so many of us have been there! Your desire to seek the Lord in this will not go unseen by Him. Praying blessings over your new marriage and new family!
Lord, you are the prince of peace and you promised peace that surpasses our understanding will guard our hearts and minds! Thank you Lord Jesus for your promises are true! Lord I pray for those who are in the midst of chaos, stress, persecution, war, strife, and fear- this is all of us Lord-the whole world! We cry out for your peace to reign in our hearts and mind! For those who don’t know you Lord-may they come to a full knowledge of your Love and repent from their sins and turn to you the giver of peace! We can only experience true peace in you! I pray come Lord Jesus as John did in revelation because then the reign of peace described in Micah 8 will be established for ever! In Jesus name amen!
Father let your peace wash over the earth! We know that healing is in your hands. Every transgression against you comes out of a heart that needs you desperately, to feel loved, forgiven, accepted, or wanted..This morning you have given me perspective. While my eyes magnify the evil of the world, I can rest easy knowing you are above it all. One day every nation, tribe, and tongue WILL confess you are God. It’s not a maybe, it’s a promise. The law of love and Gospel of peace will reign forever and ever!
Amen! it’s not a maybe, it’s a promise.
Oh, Father, the increasing unrest and unfairness and wickedness try to beat us down but instead call us to remember that this place is not our home. I thank You for Your peace in my heart, but long for Your peace in the world. I pray that my friends and family and those throughout the world who have yet to know you would learn to love and trust in You–that they would have Your peace within in the midst of outer unpeace . To that end, help me to share the Gospel message boldly and faithfully. In the meantime, how I thank You for this promise of a time when Your peace will reign over all. In Your perfect timing, come, Lord! Bless us, we pray. Amen
Oh Lord God, we bow down to You and cry out with broken hearts, but hopeful hearts, that each and every person would know Your Son and be reconciled to You, Oh Lord!
Father, I pray for those in Egypt, Syria, Gaza, Palestine, Turkey, India, Africa, Iran, Iraq, UAE, oh Lord everywhere! We need You King Jesus!
Please, Oh Lord, let the spiritual scales fall off those eyes and hearts who reject You, who do not know the real You, who long for something much sweeter than this world could ever offer.
You are the Prince of Peace and one day You will reign. At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow and every tounge will confess that You.
Are.
God.
Maranatha! In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
Amen!
You are our Peace God. I did not exhibit your peace this weekend. Forgive me.
"Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me. With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow."
Give us the peace that is only found in you.
Amen, Laurie! Praying with you, friend!

Father, we long for the day when all is made new and evil no longer has a playground. But until then, may we be at peace with what you allow and don’t allow, and may the world’s current state only urge us even more to intercede in prayer for our fellow humans. Amen, come Lord Jesus.
Good Morning. It's an absolute blessing to wake up to this reminder, after learning of the death of the NYPD officers and the Australian kids. Lord I pray this morning that we will not be afraid as you have not given us such Spirit, but may we be reminded of uour words, knowing that when all else fails, they will stand forever. May this prophecy be fulfilled at the apointef time and may your people continue to find peace in you. In Jesus Name. Amen.

I thank you Father, that Psalm 2:8 says "Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your Inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession. I keep thinking about beloved Ukraine, and the Russian invading their brothers and sisters. I ask for Your Power and Righteousness to come in all countries and my own heart. I ask You for the promised inheritance of Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, USA and on and on. We await Your Return. Heal us, heal our lands for the glory of Jesus.
Lord Jesus, come quickly. We long for your perfect peace to reign on this earth just as it reigns in our hearts. Amen.
Amen, Brittany!
Love to you, friend.
xoxo-Kaitlin for She Reads Truth
Thank you Father for your love. “All I know is I’m not home yet. This is not where I belong…”
Amen
I really needed this today, Amanda, thank you. I keep watching the news and seeing world unrest, police officers being murdered just for doing their job, children molested, and thinking, "it's not supposed to be this way." But really, it is. And it will be until the day of Christ because the world will keep exploring new depths of wickedness.
I can't wait to climb up on that mountain.
Father God, we are in the last days. I feel it. Your reign is coming. Your mountain is rising. I pray that you would call your people to faithfulness among the nations. That believers would feel the urgency of the times and go out to seek those who do not believe. Bring revival to the people who suffer in darkness. Turn the hearts of leaders toward your truths, Oh God. Peace on earth is only possible through you, Jesus. We long for peace! We long for peace among the nations. Peace between the races. Peace within our families. Healing for the broken is in your hands. You bring the lost and hungry to a table of plenty. I celebrate your coming which makes all of this possible, Jesus. I eagerly await your second coming, Lord Jesus, which will make all of this true!
Amen. The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hers say "Come!" He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Rev 22:17a, 20)
Thank you for your prayer Kelly.
Oh how I long for this peace – and oh how thankful I am that it WILL come. Praise Him!
Father god let peace reign all over the world. God you alone can make the final decision.
prayer on Micah 4:
Lord you are the highest of mountains.
[may you rule in my heart and in my home as the highest and supreme.]
You teach us your ways that we may walk in Your paths.
[may we heed your perfect wisdom and truth as we raise the little people you have give us.]
You alone are the judge and decision maker.
[help me to seek you with humility and serve others in the same way.]
Some will still choose not to worship you Father.
[our family will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.]
You assemble the broken and down hearted and make them the remnant to reign righteously over them.
[thank you Lord for your mercy and grace extended to me when i fall short.]
thank you for your promise of peace. true peace. peace that only You can bring about.
thank you that what you say will happen always happens.
Praise be to God!
This is great – thanks for posting it! Praying it as I approach the birth of my first child im a few weeks. Thanks to She Reads Truth too for keeping my mind fixed on the Lord and his goodness.
congratulations. ..Lord give Kate peace as she anticipates the birth of her little one.
Thank you for you prayer. It speaks so much of my own desires…for my home, my family, my children, our world. To walk in humble submission to Him…to have the rule and peace of God in my home, and to raise our children in God's perfect wisdom and truth, so that they will impact the world around them in such a way that it points others to Him. As I see all that is happening, it makes me think, "what will it be like for my little ones"? But I must remember His promise of peace. I must remember that His word is true. Nothing can be taken away, and nothing added! It is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore! Praise God! Thank you agin for your heartfelt prayer. I pray and stand in petition with you my sister.
Lord, may Your Gospel reign in Romania. May the Church rise up to the true call of the Body of Christ. May the orphans be placed in families. May the pious, religious leaders learn to walk humbly in grace and mercy. May your name be praised in this nation!
amen..God touch this nation with your peace
This exact idea hit me to fast and fresh this last week. The juxtaposition of the evil of this world against the goodness of our God. Earlier this week it felt irreverent and naive to sing of joy and peace. But then I realized, how can we NOT sing?? Things bite big time now, but look what He had done!! Look what He going to do!!!! Of course I had to write about it. He is so, freaking good, you guys. http://thisgalsjourney.wordpress.com/2014/12/17/whats-the-point-of-singing-peace-on-earth/
Amen! I sing with you!
After reading this section, I have this prayer I would like to share.
Heavenly Father, you are the light of the world. In this time of Advent, we are given perspective as to why we need you to come into the world. You bring a message of hope to all who will listen.
Lord, I pray that you will usher in peace quickly, and that you will bring an end to conflicts of all kinds. Guide our nation in its battles, and us in our day to day battles. Extend to us your Divine guidance, that we may work to glorify you in all things, and end our problems in the world.
I ask this, and all else good and wholesome for us, in Your name. Amen.
amen
Amen
Sarah, this is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Praying with you with you, sister!

Interesting how we “just know” some things. We know there is a god. Even when I have run from Him, I have been running from Him! I cannot truly deny His existence. And we can look around and know that something (or lots of things) is not right in the world. Because, really, if this is the best it can be, what’s the point? Why go on? Why struggle through every day if there is no hope that “things can be different”? But I have to let this knowledge point me TOWARDS God … and the profound hope that He offers. Not let it drive me away from Him!
I was having this exact discussion with a friend yesterday. And you are so right. There has to be something better in the future, otherwise, what’s the point at all? Thank you for your wise words, and their message proclaiming the Word of God.
That was amazing ! Our God is so cool!(quite an understatement)
