Leviticus

Leviticus 20:22-26, Hebrews 7:26-28, Hebrews 10:1-18, 1 Peter 1:13-21

This Is the Old Testament is part of a twelve-week thematic overview of the entire Bible. As we read, we’ll gain a broader understanding of the redemptive story of Scripture. Each day we’ll read a thematic selection from a different book of the Bible, along with supplemental passages that show how the theme of that day’s main reading is found throughout Scripture. We’ll also read a brief summary of each book and a reflection on how the book fits into the larger story of Scripture.

What Is Leviticus? The book of Leviticus picks up where Exodus ends, with Israel at Mount Sinai receiving the law. Recorded by Moses, it presents God’s instructions for holiness, including regulations for worship, laws on ceremonial cleanliness, moral laws, and instructions for holy days.

How Leviticus Fits Into the Story: The book of Leviticus contains instructions for the Israelites on how to worship God and live as His holy people. Studying Leviticus opens up a clearer picture of our holy God and a glimpse at what Jesus Christ’s sacrifice has truly done for us. The sacrificial system was established in order to provide atonement for the sins of Israel, and the writer of Hebrews relied on these images in describing the person and role of Jesus Christ: the sacrifice, the priesthood, and the Day of Atonement (Heb 4:14–10:18).

Reflection Questions:
1. Why does God say He has set the people of Israel apart from the nations?
2. How does today’s reading shape your understanding of the story of redemption?

Take time to reflect on your responses and share what you are learning with others in the community in the comments.

  1. Meagan McDaniel says:

I’m glad to be set apart from people. God has given me a purpose and I don’t need to worry about my past.

  2. Jackie Hudson says:

I love when he say “I will remember your sins no more” ❤ wow, what a savior!

  3. Taylor Oliver says:

How great is it that in todays time Jesus has been made easily attainable for all who repent and believe. No longer are we under law needing to make animal sacrifices for our sins.

  4. Riley McDiffitt says:

God is teaching a group of people how to start to be like Him. Holy literally means “set apart.”

  5. Nicole Kankaanpää says:

There’s always been a need for atonement. Animals were the shadow. Christ was the fulfillment. I’m sure Hebrews made loads more sense to people who really knew what all the sacrifices meant. I wish I had that cultural context to fully grasp it.

  6. Liesel Sumpter says:

He has called us to be holy and set apart from the beginning, but Christ’s sacrifice is what truly allows us to fulfill God’s call to be holy as He is holy.

  7. Whitney Cheyne says:

Theologians often referred to rituals as visible signs of invisible grace. It was a way to keep the people focused and in right stance with God. When Jesus came, He is our new focus — our new grace — for what he did was a reflection of the rituals you had to do in order to achieve the clean slate. He took on all the sacrifice himself in order for us, His people, to attain glory beside him. It’s beautiful because we are so utterly undeserving of it.

  8. Katie Momose says:

Jesus created a new covenant and made a path way for each of us to be part of Gods chosen people ❤️

  9. Olivia Mathews says:

God separated Israel from other nations to bring Jesus to be the ultimate sacrifice for the whole world. Thank you Jesus for the blood applied!

  10. Emily Anthony says:

Jesus didn’t just die to pay for our sins, he paid for everyone’s. Even for the people you think might not deserve it.

  11. Mary Macdonald says:

He has promised us a new life and set apart his people now it’s up to us to choose wisely either to walk in communion with the father or with the world.

  12. Olivia Whitehead says:

God calls Israel to holiness in Leviticus. Through Israel’s (and our) imperfection, Christ’s perfect sacrifice is put on display in our place.

  13. Tiffany Aleta says:

We are set up as a reflection of our Creator, a better way of life, no longer living an empty life. He desires transformation, not behavior modification.

    He is so good

  26. Rebekah Schuster says:

This makes me realize that the sacrificial lamb preformed in the OT, was just obedience to God, but it never really completely wiped out sin, because they had to keep doing it. Jesus died once and his sacrifice covers now and forever. Praise God!!

  27. Cat LaPlante says:

We shall honor and praise God daily.

  28. Kerri says:

It reminds me again of how great Jesus’ sacrifice was for us. How he was blameless and pure but took on the sins of us all so that we may be reconciled to God. Something we did not deserve. Now let us live a life set apart from the sins that we were forgiven of.

  29. Lea Mackay says:

These readings reminded me of how much greater God is than anything we are dealing with in our lives, and how keeping our eyes focused on God and eternity with Him puts everything else in perspective. Thank you God for loving us and giving us your Son, Jesus.

    1. Amanda Wiebe says:

      Yessss!!

  30. Melanie Mickelson says:

This serves as a reminder: we are called to worship God everyday as part of our remembering what He has done for us. How He sent Jesus to save us from our sins AND we have direct connection and communication with Him. We don’t need a high priest to burn sacrifices for us!

  31. Jenny Crum says:

    ❤️

  32. Carolyn Reid says:

God uses the imagery of clean and unclean. Not only does it work for Jews and Gentiles, but it also works for those of us who are “in the world but not of it.” We remain in Jesus and are clean: however, the time for living apart from those around us who are not in Jesus is no more. We are to introduce them to the High Priest!

  33. Hannah Sams says:

I love how God wants us. We could still be having to make sacrificial offerings and separating clean from unclean food but He cares so much for us that He didn’t want us to have to work for forgiveness but He WANTED to give us grace in the form of Jesus.

  34. Joyce Walker says:

Jesus Christ paid it all for all of us when he came to fulfill the law

  35. Isabella Muller says:

    Beautiful said!!!

  36. Julianna Jones says:

God set the people of Israel apart from the nations to be His. Leviticus shows us how the people offered burnt sacrifices to the Lord in order to cover their sins each time they had sinned, but then Jesus came. He came and wipes away the sins of those who repent and believe in God. He was the ultimate sacrifice. He was innocent and Holy. He publicly and painfully died for every person. It was an intimate, emotional, and beautiful display of affection of the love He has for each of us. He did this for our sake. For my sake. So that we would be made clean and that our faith and Hope would be in Him alone.

  37. Launa Linam says:

  38. Brey says:

The Exodus reading talked about God’s plan to set people apart if they follow Him and obey His teachings. This passage shows us that God has made good on the promise and is someone we can trust.

It is easy to get caught up in and overwhelmed by everything in life and in scripture, but today’s passage reminded me that God is good. He has a plan, and we can trust that plan because He is trustworthy.

    1. Melanie Mickelson says:

Love this – I too easily focus on the do’s and don’ts. And this is actually a way to worship God with all of who we are.

  39. Courtney Charles says:

Praying for you emily! I too battle intense anxiety on the daily. I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone it’s a daily battle. I’m here if you need someone. And if I may add — Podcast: Confessions of a Crappy Christian is WONDERFUL.

  40. Audren says:

I was reminded of how important we are and the work that we do matters. We are called to be as disciplined as warriors and to go the world! To go against what the world does because of how much Christ has changed as a result of it. It is baffling!

  41. Kristine Purcell says:

The thing that I took away from this reading was that the sacrifice in Leciticus are a foreshadowing of what Jesus will be doing for us on the cross and the ultimate sacrifice.

  42. Kristine Purcell says:

The thing that I took y front

  43. Kim Gillis says:

    Congrats.

  44. Cynthia Johnston says:

    Well done, Caroline!

  45. Grace Rodriguez says:

    1. Why does God say He has set the people of Israel apart from the nations?
God is saying he has set Israel apart per the agreement when Israel accepted to be lead by God.
    2. How does today’s reading shape your understanding of the story of redemption?
I had to look up the definition of redemption and it says “the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil/the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt”. God’s redemption has been made through the sacrifice of His Son on the cross. This reading was refreshing in the sense that we are reminded that because of our decision to follow God, we have been redeemed, rescued, and restored to be set apart to be with God. Jesus being the perfect, whole sacrifice to atone us and His word renewing our minds and hearts to be made to think and feel like His. Beautiful Word

  46. Melissa Mcronney says:

    Powerful read

  47. Michelle Hoffman says:

I love that even before Jesus, God gave us lots of ways to be and stay close to him.

  58. Emily Tyson says:

Hey ladies! To start, this study has already been incredible! How beautiful to see the theme of redemption from the first page of the Bible to the very last (at the end of the NT series), and every page between!

Speaking of redemption, I see how badly I need Christ to redeem me on a daily basis. I struggle with immense anxieties that affect how I’m able to function. I know there is a purpose to this struggle and I pray that God uses it to point others to Him, both today and down the road.

If I may ask, would you pray for me as i battle insecurities and anxieties?

  59. Lacy Tukel says:

    CONGRATS!!! Huge accomplishment!

  60. Jessica says:

Jenna: I LOVE what you said about how “a holy God can have no part with an unholy people. Who bridges the gap? God. We need Jesus to live the life we couldn’t, bear our punishment and defeat sin once and for all.” I wrote that down in my notes!

I love this study so far! So cool to go through the whole OT and see the redemption plan unfold.

  61. Jennifer Anapol says:

God has deeper aged us from the people around us so that we would be his. I love thinking that I am Gods. That makes me feel special and treasured.

  62. Allison Eller says:

Amen! Love this! Such truth! I wrote something very similar in my reflection!!

  63. Mercy says:

    1. Why does God want to set Israel people apart from the nations?
God chose to show himself first and foremost to the Israelites. He revealed to this helpless and small in number nation that there is a God in Heaven who would take initiative to come down, to protect, direct and deliver. It is by faith that we too become Abraham’s offsprings (Romans 4:16) and be grafted into the house of Israel. As God’s children, His representatives and ambassadors on earth (and citizens of Heaven), God wants us to represent Him correctly, set apart, holy and like Him, so more people would be directed to Him through our lives.

    2. Understanding of the story of redemption: Redemption takes God and our co-operation to commit and intentionally walk with Him, say yes to Him (2-way relationship), that we know whose we are, that we are purchased by His blood not for ourselves, but for the One who paid the price to transfer us from the Kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light, by His grace. Praise God.

Praying for you Traci and Tanner, Victoria E.

  64. Angela says:

Today’s reading really stayed with me. I found myself mulling it over in my mind as I went about my morning activities.

The first question was fairly easy — God made a pact with the descendants of Abraham to be set apart in a special way from the rest of humanity. Abraham was devoted to God and really “pressed” in to God during his lifetime. He was an outstanding example of godly living and his descendants were to be set apart as the model for godly living. Others were to look at that model, witness the benefits and seek to become more like the Israelites. It didn’t end up that way, but, that was the original idea God envisioned.

Pondering further my understanding of redemption and today’s reading, it’s clear when you contrast the old way of achieving redemption (strict laws, animal sacrifice) against the new way (Christ’s sacrifice on the cross) God meant for us to have something better. The old way merely “papered over” our sins. The new way takes our sins away permanently. Redemption is ours now — no longer through ceremony and sacrifice, but through faith and belief in Christ, our savior. Better, indeed!

  65. Stefany Head says:

Thanks to the SRT podcast, I’m asking, “Who is God?” During these readings. There is a clear pattern: 1. God initiates and provides FULLY the rescue and redemption of his people. 2. God commands obedience. Notice the order here. No other god or religion works like this. It’s usually the other way around. Grateful for a God who leads with grace and love and rescue. Let our response in gratitude be obedience.

  66. Dorothy says:

I think I would like to, sometime soon, study Leviticus in more depth. The bases of the laws of many countries including our own are based on the Ten Commandments and some of Leviticus.
Hope all is well with all of you my sisters.
Sisters I hope you don’t mind if I pass along what you have posted to others, especially my sister. At times I find encouragement in your posts and I know others would too.
    Be blessed.

  67. Jenna says:

I’m really enjoying getting a 30,000 foot view of the Bible. It’s really beautiful to see God’s plan for redemption slowly unfolding and all the pieces falling into place. In Exodus, God tells Israel that He wants them to be His people and He wants to be their God. Then in Leviticus, we see the Law. As challenging and as uncomfortable as it can be, the Law shows us God’s character and our character. A holy God can have no part with an unholy people. Now we have a problem. Now we have a need. Who can bridge the gap between God and man? God alone. We need Jesus to live the life we could not, to bear the punishment and wrath that’s rightfully ours, and to defeat sin and death once and for all. The Gospel is only good news when you know how desperate you are for it.

  68. Corinne Gilardi says:

The big picture I’m seeing in this reading is that our sin does not define us as individuals. God wants for us to have trust, hope and faith in the Lord so that our sins are forgiven and we can live our lives in His word, plan and path that He has set for us. When we are at our weakest (just like the Israelites) we come to Him because we know He is holy, therefore we are holy and forgiven.

  69. Shana Fields says:

I am doing the First 5 study on Hebrews and went back to their original study of Hebrews and Leviticus and I am loving reading Leviticus right now. As we saw in passages today, the passages in Hebrews show the fulfillment in Christ. Jesus as our High Priest, Jesus as our perfect, sacrificial lamb. He is the one who makes us holy.

  70. Victoria E says:

Caroline Bridges- congratulations! Mari V- I am RIGHT there with you. Sometimes I see non believers having less anxiety than I have and I wonder what about my life would make them want to follow Jesus?? I know I’m a work in progress and that the Holy Spirit is not done perfecting and renewing me. If I may ask for prayer for perseverance and peace and blessings on our infertility treatments, it’s starting to take a toll on me physically and mentally a little. Thank you all.

  71. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

It never ceases to amaze me or cause me to stand in awe of the fact that Jesus Christ – sinless – went to the cross for me, and because of that I am now acceptable to God!I was redeemed by the precious blood of Christ, 1 Peter 1:19. How can I not then, live for Him? We as believers are to be holy as He is holy, only made possible by God’s redemptive plan that He had in place even before the foundation of the world! All praise and glory to God! Thank you God for making a way.

  72. Julie Hamilton says:

28For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever. So thankful to have a perfect high priest going before God for me. And so thankful for grace

  73. Wendy says:

It is one thing to come before a King and ask for forgiveness and acceptance when you are not one of his royal children; the shame and unworthiness is only compounded by the act of begging for forgiveness. But to come to the feet of the King as a beloved child…well, that is a wholly different experience! Restoration and acceptance are yours, not conditionally, but eternally. Amen!

  74. Cynthia Johnston says:

What a picture the nation of Israel is as God chose them to be His people out of all the nations on the earth! In Leviticus He gives them the instructions for how to be civilized. They were different from every other nation. As the Church are we not set apart to show the world how to be so they may see our lives point to Christ? May we be holy as our Heavenly Father is holy. By His Grace!

  75. Dara Tysver says:

Praying, Traci! Tanner is a priceless and dear miracle of the Lord. Your deep love and care for him is such an inspiration to persevere!

  76. Caitlyn R says:

From my subscription box, I believe we are doing Hosea around August!

  77. Mari V says:

I am set apart to make a difference. And boy… Do I mess up often. Sometimes I wonder if I’m doing more harm than good. My boss is a believer. She’s calm and collective and trust me no one can speak ill of her. I want to be more like her. Calm and collective.
I know I am forgiven. I know Jesus loves me. I want to be more like Him so that others will believe.

  78. Kerry Rowley says:

There is a mistake in the app reading. “Hosea 10:1-18” should be “HEBREWS 10:18”

  79. CeeGee says:

    OOPS, I meant HEBREWS 10:11-16!!!

  80. Traci Gendron says:

I have been so confused. I always read the study books. It is easier for me. I like to write in them. Hosea is not in the book. I kept looking after reading the comments. I also type my comments and prayer request there. I cannot see it in the app. So ladies I’m asking again, forgive me if you’ve already seen this, but please pray fir my son Tanner. He has a rare fatal illness. He has already outlived his life expectancy. Pray for perseverance. Improved muscle strength and swallowing. That Jesus would lay his hands on Tanner and heal him. Thank you from my entire being.

  81. CeeGee says:

Q 1 – God made a covenant with Abraham and therefore has set apart the people of Israel. All about relationship.

Q2 – there is nothing I can do to redeem my sins: only JESUS SAVES. Hebrews 4:11-16 stood out to me today.

  82. Laurel says:

Caroline Bridges–Congratulations! May you enjoy today’s celebrations as you prepare for tomorrow’s adventures!

  83. Caroline Bridges says:

I’m graduating high school today. I know it’s irrelevant.

    1. Brandy S says:

      Congratulations, Caroline! That’s so exciting!

    2. Stephanie H says:

      Congratulations, Caroline!

  84. Lori Haubrick says:

Of course auto correct misspelled Hosea hah!

  85. Lori Haubrick says:

The passage from Jose’s actually stops at verse 15–with that said I look forward to a study of Hosea with SRT in the future—as for today’s reading, I am always reminded how much God loves his people—raising my own kids I know how much easier it would have beento look the other way, let them slide in their disobedience so as not to cause conflict, but my love for them wouldn’t let me do that—I wanted to help them be better than that—and how much more our God loves us and how much more he loved his chosen people! His righteousness and faithfulness is absolutely beyond measure! Thank you our King of the Universe!

  86. Haylee Price says:

Israel seems to be oblivious up to this point to their sins and the way they’ve turned away from God. I see this as a conversation between God and His people which also seems like a parent and with their children, discussing the things the children must do to be right with the parent. God is showing Israel (& us) His expectations for us and who He wants us to be.

  87. J says:

This tied so many concepts together for me today. Just like the Isrealites under the old covenant, under the new covenant we are called to be holy and set apart. We are His. He is a jealous God. He will not abide by idolatry. Hosea 10: 1-15, His people have gone astray setting up Ashra poles and altars to Baal. They’ve adopted the customs of their neighbors and are reflecting the values of the world. How easy is it to do this today? How easy is it to slip into the values of this world and forget that I am His? It is a narrow path indeed.
Leviticus is hard for me to read, but I have gained a much better understanding of God by what little I have managed to read. I am always amazed by what the Spirit will reveal to us if only we seek.

  88. Kimmy T says:

The promised land looks to be a small glimpse of Heaven to me. Just like the sacrificial system looks to be a small glimpse of Christ sacrifice. God set His people apart. They were to be Holy as He is Holy so the land would not “vomit them out.” It was a Holy land, set apart for them. They would have everything they needed, deliverance from slavery, plenty of food, all their provisions, protection, rest, if they would obey.
So even with a second chance, (or are we up to third, fourth, fifth chance?!) people are showing they are sinful and unable or unwilling to keep God’s commands to be Holy. The sacrificial system He gave was a temporary solution to show we needed the Savior.
I’m having a little trouble with my thoughts forming just right on this one today. Maybe I need to ponder this one a little further.

  89. Cara Bruinius says:

    @Jessica I saw the same

  90. Brittany Nicole Montaigne says:

I am just getting into this for day 3 – but already loving this! I am not new to SRT but this is the first time I’ve purchased a lesson, and I am so thankful I did. Just today – and defining redemption and seeing just how God redeemed his people of Israel helps me see that if we just give it all to God, he will save us as he did those in Israel.

  91. Churchmouse says:

Leviticus makes me weary. All the rules, regulations and sacrifices are overwhelming. I can’t imagine walking up every day and having to slaughter yet another animal because I have failed again. God has every right to make the rules, call the shots. He knew from the beginning that these people (and us) were facing an impossible task. No one could keep the law perfectly. God graciously and repeatedly points them (and us)
to the remedy He already had planned: a once and for all Savior. I’m so so grateful.

  92. Maura says:

ERB, thankful for your prayers. Still praying with you as well. Been wondering has the Lord restored your strength? And, how is your brother doing? Isaiah 30, yes a lot again. I noticed again in the midst of it all God reveals His heart and mercy comes “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
19 People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.” We will trust Him, for He is the One who saves, and wait for Him our Mighty God, and cry out to Him for His love never fails us. It is a new day may we have eyes to see all He is doing and hear all He is calling us to. We will rejoice! God bless you ERB. ❤️

  93. hillary Stephens says:

“You are to keep all my statutes and all my ordinances and do them so that the land where I am bringing you to live will not vomit you out.” This jumped out at me this morning–do you wonder if this is what God would have wanted to tell Adam and Eve before the Fall? He was like, okay–take two! This is what the Israelites had to do to be close to God like we were in the garden, but they could never measure up, sin always broke them. God knew this and he sent Jesus to make things right. Not only did Jesus come to make us blameless in God’s sight, but He gave us the Holy Spirit to make us more like Him (holy) everyday in our lives, bringing us step by step closer to redemption. Thank God that He guides us in our hearts and minds rather than being tied to rules that we would always fall short of.

  94. C.J. B says:

Today’s reading took me a lot to get through because there was so much to unpack.

    1. God says He set the people of Israel apart from the nations because He is calling them to be holy, like He is Holy. He is giving the people of Israel the laws in Leviticus to abide by in order to protect them, set them apart and help guide them to live a holy life, so that they may receive the land in which He has promised. He explains in Lev. 20:23 that the nations do not live this way. We also know from Hosea 10:1-15 that the false gods and idols of the nations failed them; this is another reason God is giving the people of Israel these laws in which help set them apart from the nation of false idols.

    2. I think Leviticus is hard to read because we see a lot of laws that seem harsh and at times ridiculous; just as a child may see the rules of a loving parent. However, seeing these laws in order to help save the people of Israel from the disappointment and destruction of the false idols we see in Hosea 10 gives us a glimpse of the salvation Jesus’ death and resurrection provides us. We can also go back to yesterday’s reading in Matthew where Jesus talks about how the laws haven’t disappeared, but rather they have been fulfilled by Him. I am so glad to have Jesus Christ as my salvation to save me from the destruction and disappointment of my sins and the sins of the world.

  95. MeLissa Webber says:

We are set apart for holiness through the redemption of Jesus, to be His people.

  96. Meghan says:

Is the passage from Hosea a typo? Hosea 10 only has 15 verses. Do you think they meant to put Hebrews 10:1-18?

  97. Charlie Hartzell says:

Great reminder that we are God’s people. We are different. We are not to conform to the ways of this evil world. This is not our home. Stand up for what is good and right & follow Jesus!

  98. ERB says:

@KELLY, again you reflect my thoughts exactly!!!
“@ Arina – thank you for the correct reading!
Q1 God wanted Israel to be holy and set apart as His
Q2 God gave so many details on how an unclean and unholy people could approach Him in worship. No one could fulfill it all. It was a system designed to show us our complete inability to be holy.
BUT GOD…fullfilled every statute in Jesus-the perfect High Priest and Sacrifice so that when I place my trust in His work, then I am clean and holy before God.
    So thankful ❤”
    AMEN!!!

  99. Shaena Elizabeth says:

Leviticus shows me that God reached out to Israel, brought them out of Egypt, and taught them how to be in right relationship with him. God taught Israel that they needed to be holy to the Lord because He is holy and has set them apart. We belong to God NOT this world. We need to live a holy life bearing God’s image, showing his love to all those around us. Lord I pray you change my heart more and more each day so I can bear your image to those around me. Amen! Be blessed SRT sisters ❤️

I may be wrong, but I think the Hosea scripture above should be Hebrews. There isn’t a Hosea 10:18, the chapter stops at 15; and Hebrews 10:1-15 seems to follow today’s readings more closely. Either way, I was blessed with this today. Thank you!

Leviticus has always taken me to one of those skits from camp where someone carries a backpack. For the first part they go around picking up weights to put in their backpack. Instead of sins (as they frequently were in our skits) this time it’s rules and regulations. The weight gets heavier and heavier. The person buckles under the weight of it. Then the actor representing Jesus comes and removes the backpack and says, “I’ll carry it.”

Many times in my life my people pleasing and God pleasing tendencies have caused me to buckle under the weight of perceived expectations. This set of readings is such a lovely reminder: God’s expectations are met! By Himself- Jesus!! “…We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Hebrews 10:10

Q1: God has set apart the Israelites from the nations as part of His plan of redemption.
    Q2: I think I answered that above. :)

I meant my comment in response to @Angie

  104. Taylor says:

Maura thank you for your response to me yesterday. I just went back this morning and highlighted Exodus 14:13 as well so it stands out just a prominently as verse 14. “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.” WOW! So good and so needed

  105. ERB says:

MAURA, hope you are having a lovely day my dear friend… I am still standing with and praying for you…May God give you wisdom, discernment, strength and peace. Isaiah 30 was another FULL chapter!! Here is what I highlighted…
Isaiah 30:8-15 with emphasis on verses 9-13 and 15 …thought these verses were really significant!!! They also reminded me of yesterday’s reading 29:16 You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, “You did not make me”? Can the pot say to the potter, “You know nothing”
Isaiah 30:18-22 with emphasis on 18 and 21 …LOVED these verses!!!
Isaiah 30:27 …made me think of the cloud of smoke we read about in Exodus yesterday, but in a different way…
    Be Blessed dear friend!! Xoxo

  106. Taylor says:

Thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice that washed me clean of my sins so that I am no longer guilty – I have been set free from sin and shame! No longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me <3

  107. Eileen Dowd says:

    Amen!

  108. Kelly says:

@Arina – thank you for the correct reading!
    So thankful ❤

  109. Erin Hudgins says:

The law set up in Leviticus was a picture of what was to come. There was no way imperfect man could correct the imperfect steps of mankind in order to reach a perfect God. Throughout history we see man striving, but it wasn’t until Christ’s coming that the picture became clear. Alone, we could not meet the holiness God requires and deserves, but Christ came so the mandate could be filled. Then we, sinful man, could come into the Glory of God.

  110. Kathy says:

I have been set apart not only to be holy but to be His. I have been redeemed with the precious blood of Christ and I now belong to God.
One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 43:1. “But now, thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.'” I have this note in my Bible about this verse. “to call by name is a direct personal relationship involving having a specific plan and place for the one named. ‘You are mine’ – “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ who is sovereign over all, does not cry, ‘mine'” He cries “mine” over me every day.

  111. Angie says:

His law on my heart and mind.
Obedience and honor in my attitude and actions.
My sin erased, because of Jesus.
    Thank you Lord.

  112. Mary Ann Graves says:

Thank you Jesus for dying for me that I might live!

  113. Arina says:

@Lesley In the study book indeed Hebrews 10:1-18 is listed

  114. Lesley says:

Is there a mistake in the reading listed? Hosea 10 only has 15 verses. I wonder if it’s meant to be Hebrews 10:1-18 – that seems to fit better?

    1. Erica Chiarelli says:

It is Hosea, chapter 10, just vs. 1-15. :)

    2. Julia Peterson says:

In the study guide it’s Hebrews 10:1-18
