After completing your daily reading, come back to chat with fellow Bible readers about any reflections you have on the proverbs, introduction, or questions from today.

Because God is the only one who can see all things and understand them rightly, He alone rules with perfect justice. His righteousness defends and advocates for the hearts of His people. And as people made in His image, the book of Proverbs urges us to live lives that reflect that same heart of justice.

Reflection Questions:

What is the outcome of justice according to these proverbs? What is the outcome of the wicked or unjust?

What has God’s justice looked like in your life?

Keeping Proverbs 14:31 in mind, how can you share God’s justice in your community today?

Good Chilly Morning She’s! My bones aren’t used to 50’s! (Il)

Doing Jail Ministry has taught me a lot. Where I have grown up in a good family and town where right and wrong had their proper boundaries and not too many blurred lines. It seemed the world did as a whole actually. But, being around these ladies and understanding that they grew up in families where they probably wondered where is a fair God? Why isn’t he doing something? Many had such tragic childhoods and families that hurt them emotionally and physically or lacked protecting them from others that did. There was no justice for them. It creates a very hard heart unfortunately of self-protection, and a taught mentality to do what you must to survive. Many are failed by the very organizations that are meant to help them as I just found out with my grandson.

How do we then, give it to God, and let go. We trust that He is the judge. It is all we can do to clean away the bitterness and unforgiveness that destroys us in the end. It is realizing this though. Being in the Word can help them and God will penetrate through their hearts and minds, break the walls and strongholds, and mend the brokenness.

WE can help by going to the poor and broken in spirit and show them the Savior. We can be a kind person that doesn’t judge them and look beyond the surface of what we see. WE can realize all of us will face judgement, and I was given mercy to come into His eternal family, so therefore I am to do the same. They may be undeserving, but I am as well! OH WHEN we realize this, it is life-changing!

I love the song Mercy by Elevation (CeeGee introduced other versions that I had no idea last time–I think it was Ben Fuller!

Thank you Jesus for coming so I could CHOOSE you, because you chose us first, if only we receive. All the condemnation I deserve is now gone, I am a NEW creation in YOU. The old is gone (thank GOD!), I have eyes to see now. That is such a gift to read the scripture with newness. We thank you for You Jesus taking the punishment for us that we all deserve. Help us to do your will and to adamantly reach lost souls and share your mercy and love. That is our job. Our privilege to work diligently before you come! We praise you and Glorify your Name! Amen

It can be hard not to judge in the craziness of today. But it is not my place to do so. This is a good reminder to see others as God sees them.

  3. Mari V says:

OUR God is just even when we don’t like the outcome, HE is just and knows best and in the end we (I) realize it was for our good because our God is good! I trust my God as He has been so good to me and my children, even when it was SO scary. I knew not to take revenge as our God takes care of it much better then us (me). In Proverbs 14:31 “I” was that poor (figuratively speaking) and some VERY generous people (family and friends) came to my aide, lifted me up, encouraged, sometimes even pushed, BUT here I am and it’s ALL Jesus! I am SO blessed by friends who are now my forever family. G and S if your out there I love you forever…… AND YOU my sweet SRT sisters!!!

  4. Cindy Hanna says:

I’ve thought a lot about justice in light of Micah 6:8b. “And what does the LORD require of you? Act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (NIV)

Some versions say “Do justice”…I like that interpretation. Instead of trying to act justly on a case by case basis…Doing Justice becomes a way of life. A daily attitude and indicator of who we belong to in our interactions with all. Justice is made sweeter by applying mercy when appropriate and remembering to be humble when making decisions… especially when those decisions affect others.

    1. Mia Faith says:

      So good Cindy Hanna

    2. Traci Gendron says:

      Good! Thank you

  5. Rachel (CO) says:

Do I/will I trust God even when I do not get the justice that is due me? I know justice is bigger than just my personal experience, but years ago I was scammed (to the tune of close to $15K) by a moving company. It still makes my blood pressure go up to think about it. But it seems that this will be a situation in which I do not receive justice on this side of heaven. I have to trust that God knows what He is doing and rest in His sovereign plan. In His kindness He has somehow made what was a huge amount of money to me at the time be inconsequential.

    1. Traci Gendron says:

We had someone ask us for a loan years ago. It was a very large amount of money. He stopped making his payments without any communication. I was seething. My husband told me to let it go. It was so hard for me. Years later we received the payment in full. I was so surprised. I do think people that cheat, steal, etc, have to live with themselves. I could never.

  6. Cheryl Blow says:

I think justice isn’t so much that I’m seeking justice from anyone else but God. Like everything else only God fills the need. It’s more about me living with integrity- doing the right thing when no one is watching.

Helping someone in need or just cleaning out my closet of unnecessary clothes that are still good that someone might need or taking diapers to a supply closet. Doing what I can do. Also, when the Lord shows me where I need to change, receiving that correction and changing.

Justice for me is God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness when I don’t deserve it or could never earn it.

    As always, Proverbs humbles me!

Praying for all. Thank you for the list. Keep Alan in your prayers. His body is trying to reject his new liver.

Justice: Just behavior accords with what is morally right and fair. (GotQt)

This definition’s simplicity resonates with me…reminds me of the WWJD? movement…a good question in every situation.

    1. Traci Gendron says:

      WWJD! Good reminder.

  9. Susan Burley says:

Grateful for God’s justice! May I continue to allow Him to act as judge & know when to take a hands off approach when dealing with those who have wronged me.

  10. Hannelora Wald says:

God keeps on reminding me that justice is His, especially when I look at the world and my anger boils. God knows. He has us, has me.

    1. Carol H says:

I hear you. ❤️Thank you for this reminder

  11. Karen Swanson says:

I wanted to ensure I firmly understood the definition of biblical justice. Not worldly justice. In the Bible the word justice is used as “the definition of an objective moral standard based on God’s character. Requiring fairness, impartiality, and righteousness in all aspects of life. Protection of the vulnerable and the marginalized is a key component of biblical Justice.” This adjusted the framing of this entire days study for my mind.

  15. Searching says:

Interesting word, justice. Could be an all day topic.
    .
Some of the definitions I found:
Conformity to a principle or ideal (righteousness)
The quality of being just, impartial, fair
Exacting punishment on behalf of victims
    .
The Lord God is perfect in every sense of the word justice, showing mercy and grace and dispensing punishment in His wisdom. May we show mercy and grace to those we encounter.
    .
    Micah 6:8
    He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
    But to do justly,
    To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?

  16. Kimberly says:

Lord, help me to see people the way You see them. Give me a heart that honors You by honoring the poor, the vulnerable, and the forgotten. Make me an instrument of Your justice—where there is need, use me to bring kindness; where there is oppression, use me to bring truth; where there is brokenness, use me to bring restoration.
    Amen
    .

God’s justice isn’t abstract—it’s deeply personal and practical. When we lift the lowly, act with compassion, and stand against injustice, we aren’t just doing good works—we’re honoring God Himself.

    1. Laurel W says:

Amen, Kimberly. Honoring God above honoring our pride.

  17. Alana Anderson says:

    Amen❤️

  18. Kelly (NEO) says:

The outcome of GOD’S justice is the destruction or ruin of evil and help for the weak.
    .
God’s justice in my life is His mercy toward my sin by sending Jesus to pay a debt I could never pay.

How can I share God’s justice in my community today? Being open to the Holy Spirit’s prompting to be generous with my patience, kindness, and grace towards those around me today.
