After completing your daily reading, come back to chat with fellow Bible readers about any reflections you have on the proverbs, introduction, or questions from today.
Because God is the only one who can see all things and understand them rightly, He alone rules with perfect justice. His righteousness defends and advocates for the hearts of His people. And as people made in His image, the book of Proverbs urges us to live lives that reflect that same heart of justice.
Reflection Questions:
What is the outcome of justice according to these proverbs? What is the outcome of the wicked or unjust?
What has God’s justice looked like in your life?
Keeping Proverbs 14:31 in mind, how can you share God’s justice in your community today?

Micha 6:8 is a verse I often go back to.
❤️❤️❤️
He ALONE rules with perfect justice. Nonetheless we are all called to separate right from wrong and encourage growth, humility and affirm the TRUTH He has laid out for us. We (as imperfect beings) will not be the most just, which is probably why it feels very uncomfortable to walk along the topic of calling out our neighbors for their sins or punishing our loved ones with structured discipline. While we are ultimately not responsible for those sins, correction or what follows, if we do not glorify God with our wisdom, then we will be punished and cursed. Wisdom comes from FEAR of the Lord.
It’s fitting I read this today after we saw the murder of a man who just wanted to speak truth. God will have His justice in all our lives. We may not see it right away. But it will happen and God will always triumph over evil.

God has protected me, and given me mercy and grace throughout my life. I did not know anything about him then, and sometimes definitely did not deserve grace. He was just there, waiting for the day I would call out to him!
Justice for me is God’s great love that has covered a multitude of sins
I think of justice as also not judging others. Who am I to decide their outcome? Only God ever knows the whole story and we believe he will deal with injustice in due time in the perfect way.
What has God’s justice looked like in my life?
God has shown me such great mercy throughout my life. He has protected me from many bad situations in my past. To me, this is how God‘s justice has been in my life.
Justice honors God, oppressing the poor (an example of injustice) “insults his maker” as it says in Proverbs 14:31 . One I read this verse I am reminded of the parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18:23 – 35. This parable follows the question, that Peter asks Jesus of how many times he should forgive. In the story the king who forgave the great debt of one of his servants only for that very same servant to unmercifully refuse to do the same for one of his fellow servants who owed him a much smaller amount. This upset the king greatly. – At the end of the day I (we) have received far more then we could every repay, what does God ask of us in return, as it says in Micah 6:8 – “to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God”
There are so many opportunities in my life to be instrument of justice, one that comes to mind for me is standing up for those are not in a position to stand up for themselves and advocating for them against the evil forces. This is easier said then done but oh so important.
What is the outcome of justice according to these proverbs? Honoring your Maker, becoming wise, knowledgeable, receive blessings.
What is the outcome of the wicked or unjust?
Insulting your Maker, being thrown into ruin, cursed and abhorred.
What has God’s justice looked like in your life?
I’m not sure. But maybe one day I’ll know.
Keeping Proverbs 14:31 in mind, how can you share God’s justice in your community today? Honor your neighbor, reach out, be generous.
In my community I can share God’s justice by meeting the needs of the people around me. This may be a material need, emotional need or relational need.
Justice = reward and wicked = punishment
This feels like a what to do and not to do in court from a godly perspective.
Caitlyn Williams, I can totally understand where you are coming from. It is so hard when we are still hurting/grieving and asking God for justice, but not seeing that justice take place. God’s justice doesn’t always happen on a timeline that we want, but He does, and will serve justice in the right time, and it might not be in a way that we see coming. Keep holding onto the truth of His word. Even though it’s hard, it’s worth it. He loves you immensely, and cares so deeply for you. Your prayers are not going unheard. He knows your pain and is with you always. ❤️
❤️
Cathy, how are you? Hope life is being kind to you and yours..❤️
When asked about justice in my life. All I can think of is God’s mercy. In light of justice in my life, mercy has been poured out even greater. For that, I am so thankful.
The word injustice can stir up unsettling feelings. This is a very tender topic. And sometimes we wonder why the wheel of justice seems to be slow. It can feel as if the wicked can get away almost everyday. But no no. Let not perception deceive us. We know better than that. From king David, “I would have fainted, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say, on the LORD!”- says a man who suffered too much. May we turn to the Word for the final authority. What will happen to the wicked according to the Word, not according to what we see or assume? “Evil will kill the wicked; those who hate the righteous will be punished” (Psalm 34:21). “You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked” (Psalm 91:8). I find this truth overlooked, Genesis 50:20 – Joseph told his brothers who betrayed him: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good”. May we see to this and guard our heart fervently, “See to it that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled” Hebrews 12:15 , and set healthy boundaries, “The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it” Proverbs 22:3. Even Jesus withdrew from people who opposed Him (John 7:1; Luke 4:30) which is great wisdom in my opinion, no one really talks about this for some reason. But I will lol, please set boundaries. Love does not mean allowing yourself to be mistreated repeatedly. Don’t repay evil or evil. May we learn to wait on the Lord, let Him redeem our pain, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose”- Romans 8:28. God promises to heal not only physical wounds but also the deep emotional and spiritual ones caused by injustice, betrayal, or loss. “For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord” Jeremiah 30:17, “I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners” Isaiah 57:18. Healing comes in many layers and is a long journey. May we stand on the promises and wait well on the Lord. He is all powerful, all knowing to deliver us from the wicked. May we pray this verse daily, “Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety” Psalm 141:10. Glory be to God. Be blessed dear sisters.
This is a good word, Mercy. Thank you❤️
This is a great point about setting boundaries that stood out to me because I don’t know if I ever thought much about the way Jesus set boundaries (and withdrew from people who opposed him) – I also like the way you conclude your comment “May we stand on the promises and wait well on the Lord.” – well said
So very good, Mercy..
.
Blessings dear heart.❤️
The thoughts that come to mind when I think of justice and justice of the wicked lie on the judgment day. We will all face our transgressions, but the righteous will move on to eternal life, while the wicked will move on to eternal hell. When we seek the Lord we understand, while wicked do not.
God’s continued presence and love despite my brokenness serve as a reminder and a conviction, which draws me into prayer with Him in order to confess my shortcomings and ask for guidance moving forward.
There are so many opportunities within the community to show God’s justice, including helping to meet the needs of those who are in a season of need, whether by praying over them or helping in other ways.
Justice is hard because I’ve been the victim of a lot of things and I’ve been accused of being the culprit in things I don’t believe I had done wrong…. So justice never felt served to those who deserved it but was given freely to me when it felt undeserved…. So as a victim of sexual assault and domestic violence and watching my abusers live a life with no consequences for their actions and me being jailed for texting someone and them being mad about it saying it was harassment … the system and process of justice feels like God doesn’t have a true hand in it- so this is a hard subject for me because I want to trust God in this but I don’t feel like what is said in these verses is played out in everyday life
Yes dear Caitlin, that is exactly what I was trying to say in my comment below!! So I feel you. It breaks my heart to hear these stories of what you have suffered at the hands of others! The great thing is that God does see it all, and although we ask “why didn’t you save me from that?!!” we have to have faith and trust, that IF you love him, he is working ALL things for the whole of us that will enter eternity! We will not understand until then! BUT you can use your trial as a testimony and to encourage others in your situation. Remember they will face judgement for their sins, unless they come to God.
Thank you for sharing! I will pray for you to heal and trust.
Caitlin, I am so very sorry that you have suffered such great trauma and injustice. May God’s presence, peace and strength be yours ❤️
Csitlin, I am so very sorry for what you have suffered, and in a way continue to suffer you wait for the justice you believe for the wrong doers to be dealt to them..
My dear, give this to God, lay it down and pick up the yolk of Christ, trust Father God, who sees and knows and feels your pain. Deuteronomy 32:35 says “..vengeance is mine, I will repay ”
God has you, loves you and He will fight for you.. trust Him..
.
BUT GOD.
.
Much healing love Caitlin..❤️

You sisters have blown me away with your comments today! What a blessing you all are! ❤

From the intro:
“Because God is the only one who can see all things and understand them rightly, He alone rules with perfect justice. His righteousness defends and advocates for the hearts of His people. And as people made in His image, the book of Proverbs urges us to live lives that reflect that same heart of justice.”
.
RACHEL (CO) showed us “the other side of justice” in her comment. What happens to our faith when we grow into our faith believing in justice and then don’t see it play out according to our hope/desire in a particular situation?
Thanks, Rachel, for that reflection! ❤
.
Two songs come to mind:
I Trust in God by Elevation (partial lyrics)
Blessed assurance Jesus is mine
He’s been my fourth man in the fire time after time
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood
What He did on Calvary for me is more than enough
Chorus:
I trust in God, my Savior
The one who will never fail
He will never fail
The other song is Even If by Mercy Me.
Both of these songs encourage the right mindset if we don’t get results we are praying for, expecting or think we deserve ( yes, ADRIENNE!).
.
like you sisters I am thankful for God’s mercy and grace, His redemption through His blood. That is what I must hold on to, then in the power of the Holy Spirit live out Micah 6:8 (thanks, SEARCHING and CINDY HANNA)
and Deuteronomy 6:5-
“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”
.
Love, hugs, and prayers
Thank you to the sisters who reminded me to be thankful for the effect of God’s justice in my life – ie. salvation. I admit to thinking world view before personal view right off the bat.

Justice for me was when I finally found how who my ex really was and was freed from the sham that my marriage was. Sure, it wasn’t a perfect justice; he lied under oath and got away with a lot that he shouldn’t have. But I try to remember that God’s justice will be complete in due time.
I’m sorry that the first thought that came to my mind wasn’t God’s justice shown to me. I am a sinner, not worthy yet loved and known by God.That’s his justice, loving me even while I was a sinner – and sending His son to die for me.
—
I too thought of Micah 6:8-10. God has shown us what is required, now all we have to do is act upon it. Live it.
—
I recently came upon a way to share God’s justice in my community – by baking cakes for those who can’t afford a birthday cake for their child, and also helping new moms during the postpartum period. I am making myself available and waiting for the opportunity to arise!
—
Have a blessed Wednesday!
Sharon your lead-in statement: I didn’t either and appreciate the gentle reproof from comments.
I love your idea of the birthday cakes and wonder how our homeless/under privileged ministry could work that in. ❤
How kind of you Sharon to fill this need in your community.
Love it!❤️
I think these readings point to pride again, like one of our topics last week. I think we need to be careful that justice doesn’t tie itself to our pride.

I know that really didn’t address the reading prompts for today, but…

To live justly is to reflect the God who sees every person as valuable and worthy of dignity.
For us today, expressing God’s justice means looking beyond ourselves. It means choosing honesty over selfish gain, defending those without a voice, and showing kindness to the needy. In small ways—through generosity, fair dealings, or simply standing up against wrong—we participate in God’s vision for justice.
Good Chilly Morning She’s! My bones aren’t used to 50’s! (Il)
Doing Jail Ministry has taught me a lot. Where I have grown up in a good family and town where right and wrong had their proper boundaries and not too many blurred lines. It seemed the world did as a whole actually. But, being around these ladies and understanding that they grew up in families where they probably wondered where is a fair God? Why isn’t he doing something? Many had such tragic childhoods and families that hurt them emotionally and physically or lacked protecting them from others that did. There was no justice for them. It creates a very hard heart unfortunately of self-protection, and a taught mentality to do what you must to survive. Many are failed by the very organizations that are meant to help them as I just found out with my grandson.
How do we then, give it to God, and let go. We trust that He is the judge. It is all we can do to clean away the bitterness and unforgiveness that destroys us in the end. It is realizing this though. Being in the Word can help them and God will penetrate through their hearts and minds, break the walls and strongholds, and mend the brokenness.
WE can help by going to the poor and broken in spirit and show them the Savior. We can be a kind person that doesn’t judge them and look beyond the surface of what we see. WE can realize all of us will face judgement, and I was given mercy to come into His eternal family, so therefore I am to do the same. They may be undeserving, but I am as well! OH WHEN we realize this, it is life-changing!
I love the song Mercy by Elevation (CeeGee introduced other versions that I had no idea last time–I think it was Ben Fuller!
Thank you Jesus for coming so I could CHOOSE you, because you chose us first, if only we receive. All the condemnation I deserve is now gone, I am a NEW creation in YOU. The old is gone (thank GOD!), I have eyes to see now. That is such a gift to read the scripture with newness. We thank you for You Jesus taking the punishment for us that we all deserve. Help us to do your will and to adamantly reach lost souls and share your mercy and love. That is our job. Our privilege to work diligently before you come! We praise you and Glorify your Name! Amen

It can be hard not to judge in the craziness of today. But it is not my place to do so. This is a good reminder to see others as God sees them.
It is overwhelming. I am with you. It’s okay to abhor evil. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. It is totally okay to hate evil sister. We are called to define good good, evil evil. I don’t think that’s judging but a redefining/discerning for us.
I was going to say the same (although I know what your saying Traci in short.)
It IS our job to hold fast to God and hate sin and try to stand for truth in society. Hard, but look how far we have gone away from our Christian start in just 30 years. They do not have the Holy Spirit in them though, those that don’t know the Lord, but those who say they do know the Lord, we shall judge by their fruits.
Traci, good point but not always easy in the moment of injustice to hand over to God..
Working on that Tina.. who thinks of all the harm she can inflicted on the wrong doers, before bringing God in..
Eye opening stuff in today’s comments and verses..
Hope you are well my dear..❤️❤️
OUR God is just even when we don’t like the outcome, HE is just and knows best and in the end we (I) realize it was for our good because our God is good! I trust my God as He has been so good to me and my children, even when it was SO scary. I knew not to take revenge as our God takes care of it much better then us (me). In Proverbs 14:31 “I” was that poor (figuratively speaking) and some VERY generous people (family and friends) came to my aide, lifted me up, encouraged, sometimes even pushed, BUT here I am and it’s ALL Jesus! I am SO blessed by friends who are now my forever family. G and S if your out there I love you forever…… AND YOU my sweet SRT sisters!!!
Sweet testimony, Mari! ❤
Yep, keep sharing Mari V! I love your passion to keep thanking Him over and over for how He held you in your time of trouble and after!

I’ve thought a lot about justice in light of Micah 6:8b. “And what does the LORD require of you? Act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (NIV)
Some versions say “Do justice”…I like that interpretation. Instead of trying to act justly on a case by case basis…Doing Justice becomes a way of life. A daily attitude and indicator of who we belong to in our interactions with all. Justice is made sweeter by applying mercy when appropriate and remembering to be humble when making decisions… especially when those decisions affect others.
So good Cindy Hanna
Mia Faith, prayerful life is being good to you..

Do I/will I trust God even when I do not get the justice that is due me? I know justice is bigger than just my personal experience, but years ago I was scammed (to the tune of close to $15K) by a moving company. It still makes my blood pressure go up to think about it. But it seems that this will be a situation in which I do not receive justice on this side of heaven. I have to trust that God knows what He is doing and rest in His sovereign plan. In His kindness He has somehow made what was a huge amount of money to me at the time be inconsequential.
We had someone ask us for a loan years ago. It was a very large amount of money. He stopped making his payments without any communication. I was seething. My husband told me to let it go. It was so hard for me. Years later we received the payment in full. I was so surprised. I do think people that cheat, steal, etc, have to live with themselves. I could never.
❤
I think justice isn’t so much that I’m seeking justice from anyone else but God. Like everything else only God fills the need. It’s more about me living with integrity- doing the right thing when no one is watching.
Helping someone in need or just cleaning out my closet of unnecessary clothes that are still good that someone might need or taking diapers to a supply closet. Doing what I can do. Also, when the Lord shows me where I need to change, receiving that correction and changing.
Justice for me is God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness when I don’t deserve it or could never earn it.
As always, Proverbs humbles me!

Justice: Just behavior accords with what is morally right and fair. (GotQt)
This definition’s simplicity resonates with me…reminds me of the WWJD? movement…a good question in every situation.
WWJD! Good reminder.
Grateful for God’s justice! May I continue to allow Him to act as judge & know when to take a hands off approach when dealing with those who have wronged me.
God keeps on reminding me that justice is His, especially when I look at the world and my anger boils. God knows. He has us, has me.
I hear you. ❤️Thank you for this reminder
Truth!❤️
I wanted to ensure I firmly understood the definition of biblical justice. Not worldly justice. In the Bible the word justice is used as “the definition of an objective moral standard based on God’s character. Requiring fairness, impartiality, and righteousness in all aspects of life. Protection of the vulnerable and the marginalized is a key component of biblical Justice.” This adjusted the framing of this entire days study for my mind.
❤️
Let God take care of “paying others back “
Amen. I love the justice of the Lord
Father remind me that justice is Yours and Yours alone. In Jesus name, Amen
Interesting word, justice. Could be an all day topic.
.
Some of the definitions I found:
Conformity to a principle or ideal (righteousness)
The quality of being just, impartial, fair
Exacting punishment on behalf of victims
.
The Lord God is perfect in every sense of the word justice, showing mercy and grace and dispensing punishment in His wisdom. May we show mercy and grace to those we encounter.
.
Micah 6:8

And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?

Lord, help me to see people the way You see them. Give me a heart that honors You by honoring the poor, the vulnerable, and the forgotten. Make me an instrument of Your justice—where there is need, use me to bring kindness; where there is oppression, use me to bring truth; where there is brokenness, use me to bring restoration.

God’s justice isn’t abstract—it’s deeply personal and practical. When we lift the lowly, act with compassion, and stand against injustice, we aren’t just doing good works—we’re honoring God Himself.
