BY She Reads Truth

This Is the Old Testament is part of a twelve-week thematic overview of the entire Bible. Each day we’ll read a thematic selection from a different book of the Bible, along with supplemental passages that show how the theme of that day’s main reading is found throughout Scripture. We’ll also read a brief summary of each book and a reflection on how the book fits into the larger story of Scripture. This week, we move from the Pentateuch into the second section of the Old Testament, the Historical Books.

What Is Joshua? The book of Joshua records God’s fulfillment of the renewed covenant in Deuteronomy and describes Israel’s entry into the promised land under Joshua’s guidance.

How Joshua Fits Into the Story: Joshua narrates Israel’s journey to the promised land, where the nation received its promised inheritance. Miraculous events, such as the crossing of the Jordan River, marked the Israelites’ journey. God gave Israel victories, but each victory required a step of faith. God’s holiness and provision are evident throughout this book, reminding future generations of His covenant faithfulness to His people.

Reflection Questions:
1. In light of Joshua 1, how does the promise of God’s presence change how you live?
2. How does today’s reading shape your understanding of the story of redemption?

Take time to reflect on your responses and share what you are learning with others in the community in the comments.

I believe this is what God is also telling us now. And yes, the future may seem scary, but we have to take leaps of faith the get to where God wants us to be, and as an earlier comment said, there isn’t a “going back” to normal. Only ahead to what God’s plan is and I believe it’s preparing for Revelation, which is already and has been being played out in front of our eyes, the world is just so blind to it. We as Christians MUST keep our faith and hope in Christ Jesus 2nd Coming. And trust God’s words

Today’s passage shows me that God is with us in every step that we take in life even when we may not know he is there. We can be assured of his presences. We are not to be afraid like the key passage says.

It’s crazy you mention current events because I had this same conversation with a complete stranger just before reading yesterday’s reading and your post. I agree there is no going back but it is all for His purpose! With God our country will prevail!

What God promised to the Israelites stands true today! “Be strong and courageous… for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” What a promise! God has given us a mission to go in our communities, countries, and world with the Gospel message of Jesus but I fail at this mission daily. I am not strong nor courageous. But this promise gives me boldness. I can know that as I go, God is with me & He has already won! He and His message is victorious so I can go share Him with strength and courage! Oh Christian, be strong and very courageous!

Wasnt finished! We have Joshua 1:9 posted in my sons room over his bed, and it’s a great reminder to see that verse every day!

Joshua is one of my favorite books of the bible, especially after the SRT Joshua study a couple months ago. So much faith and trust in this book. And Joshua 1:9 is one of my favorite verses of scripture.
