Trusting God’s promise of provision can be more difficult in practice than believing it on principle. Yet since the beginning, God has been our provider, giving us the air in our lungs and the food in our stomachs (Gn 1:29; 2:7). The first temptation showed us just how quickly we doubt God as our good provider. The lie that began at the fall has governed much of our behavior ever since.

During His time on earth, Jesus modeled what it looks like to depend on God for all we need, while actively seeking Him first and foremost. He showed us how the worries and cares of this world can be replaced by contentment and abundance, trusting God knows our needs best. He spoke truth to break the devil’s ancient yet persistent lie, declaring that whatever we may build for ourselves on earth will crumble in the end; only that which is eternal—what is stored up in heaven—will last (Mt 6:19–20). Therefore, even as we await the provision of eternity with Christ, we trust that in His presence we lack nothing.

  2. Gina Meyer says:

I struggle with this- i know that God Will Always Provide- but it’s those times in the middle, the waiting, the struggle that must come first. And it’s in those times that anxiety fills the body, the brain, and it’s hard to have a clear conscience and believe that he is going to provide, yet AGAIN, as he’s promised.

  3. Rachel in AL says:

John 1:17. Every good and perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father . . . I’m afraid I place more value on all the less-than perfect gifts located here on earth. Father, lift my face toward You.

  4. Jade Gaines says:

Thank you Heavenly Father for always being faithful and providing for us even in moments of doubt. This is my hope I cling to in moments where I’m growing weary, tempted, or impatient

My heart felt joy at the title, it may have even had a touch of golden about it!
    I will provide for you..
    .
Over the years I have seen God provide in ways I could never have imagined.., I mean, in a parting of ways , could you imagine your marital home being signed over to you. Lock, stock and all and ALL paid for!
This, I believe, only happens in the heart wrenching movies, it could never happen to me..
    .
    BUT GOD..
He heard the prayers of a brokenhearted mamma, and He had seen her struggles along the way with her 2 boys. He had made a way for the good man who had left the family home for another life to do right by those he left, broken. God had listened to the concerns, of, what will happen when that day comes, for the house to be sold, where will I live, what would I be able to afford? What will become of me..
He had seen and collected the tears, heard the sobbing and comforted with His loving arms. He answered the cries with a provision that will last a lifetime, my lifetime and beyond!
    .
Thank you Father God. Thank you !
    .
All Praise to the One who provides.. All Glory to Him who never falters..
All Honour to my Father God, for He keeps His promise… Always.
    .
    AMEN.

    Happy today. ❤️

    2. Grammie D says:

Thanks for sharing this. What an encouragement!! God is faithful!!!

  9. Lauren GW says:

Needed this today. Struggling a lot with chronic PTSD with my husband x 4.5 years. Realizing lately that it is probably not going to get better at this point , and we need to treat it like a chronic illness. Struggling with how I am going to do this day in and out, knowing any day could be a crash and burn. Needed to remember that God will be providing on the good days and bad, that I can learn to be content in plenty and in want

    1. Lynne from Alabama says:

Lauren, I have been praying with you about this for a long time. Still praying for healing and peace for you. ❤️

    2. Rhonda J. says:

I remember your name as well Lauren, thank you for sharing, and believing with you that God will provide for you, just what you need to get through.

    3. Victoria E says:

Lauren I am praying for your husband. I recently read about ketamine for PTSD, is this something he has tried already? It is supposed to work very well when other treatments have failed

    4. Cee Gee says:

Lauren, thank you for letting us know how things are. I know several sisters here have reached out. I, too, deal with a chronic situation with my husband and have come to the same conclusion. I love your attitude! I am going to adopt that, thanks to your inspiration! Prayers for peace and patience for you as you adjust and praying that the right solution will be found for your husband. ❤

    5. Tina says:

Lauren, I am truly sorry for your troubles..
Hold fast to Him whose promises are true, though sometimes we can’t see Him working, He is!
Will continue to hold you and your husband and family in prayers.
Sending prayer covered hugs your way..❤️

    6. Kelly (NEO) says:

      Lauren
I’m sorry that you and your family are suffering after your husband’s service to this country. Thank you all for your sacrifice. Praying God’s mercy will bring you all you need.

    7. AZ Walker says:

Praying for you and your husband Lauren that God will give you many good days and relief from his PTSD and that the Lord will keep you strong and wise to deal with this.

    8. Grammie D says:

Take one day at a time as “each day has enough trouble of its own.“
I have been in a very difficult marriage and before adopting this practice, I would worry about: is it going to still be like this next year, 5 years, etc. When I began the discipline of taking one day at a time it helped me immensely. And to this day I remind myself to practice this regarding any worries I may have. I hope this is helpful for you.

  10. Jillian Carector says:

Thank you for providing my needs and some of my wants

  11. Claudia Gomez says:

Thank you Jesus for sing us all we need in this life salvation that will take us to eternity in unity with the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  12. Kristy says:

If we who are evil know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more will our Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.
That really stood out to me today. As parents we are going to do whatever it takes to make sure our children have what they need, and if they were worrying about what they were going to eat or drink or wear we would not be having it. This visual just really stood out to me more than ever. If we who are evil do this, how much MORE will our perfect Father go to bat for us?
Thank you Lord for your promises! Thank you for your provision. May we be children who ask, seek, and knock, everyday… relying on you for all of our needs!

  13. Adrianne says:

Yes! He will provide for us all!! Even when we fail, even when we break, and even when we stumble our Lord will be there to pick us up and show us the right way. Thank you Lord Jesus!!!!

  14. Gwineth52 says:

“Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”
    (James 1:17).
Good. Perfect. God of Light. Permanent.
    Who wouldn’t want that?
Who among us doesn’t have that?
    We are more than gifted.
Through the marvel of His grace.
    Coming down. Unchanging.

  15. Heather Harrison says:

I am deeply concerned for this country; I have been crying at nights wondering how we got to this place. It’s people who claim Christ, but are mistreating the foreigners and widows. It’s people claiming Christ who are supporting a “king” here. It’s Christian leaders voicing support for a man who claims he doesn’t make mistakes and doesn’t need forgiveness but is a “Christian

    1. Gwineth52 says:

      Have heart, sweet sister.

    2. Donna Wolcott says:

Heather I struggle with this also. Love of neighbor, verbal decency gone! Nothing Christian about it. You are not alone.❤️

    3. Victoria E says:

Heather Harrison you are absolutely not alone. The people who will die from the withdrawal of foreign aid are heavy on my heart. Those who are having potentially life saving experimental medicine ripped away are heavy on my heart. I pray for our leaders that they will do what is right.

  16. Susan Burley says:

Psalm 23 is one of my favorites!!

  17. Kris says:

I have Phil 4: 19 printed and taped in 3 different place in my house. “And my God will supply ALL your needs according to His riches in Glory in Christ Jesus”. It’s a daily reminder that whatever I need, God will make sure I have it. No matter where the supply comes from, God is the one giving it. I get a pay check every 2 weeks from my employer, but God is the one who gives it, He uses my employer as His vessel. Like James says, everything good is from Heaven. Be blessed today!!

    1. Lisa H says:

      Great reminder!

    2. Tara B says:

      Amen! ❤️

  18. GramsieSue says:

You know….I’ve seen His provision so many times over the years. And each time, I have to repent of my fears and doubts and give Him the praise He deserves.
    .
I remember the weeks of going to the grocery store with $50 to buy groceries for our family of 6 for the week. And somehow, we were never hungry. And He is very creative in His provision…once a neighbor showed up with a casserole that had two pieces cut out. She explained that her dear husband hated leftovers so could we please eat the rest of their dinner?! And this on a night when I really had no idea what we would have for dinner!
    .
    Yes, He provides!
    .
Yesterday, Steve and I met with our banker. We walked in feeling beaten up and hopeless. We both really believed he would tell us they couldn’t help us….
    But God…
Even now the tears are running down my cheeks.
We have several (not just one) SEVERAL options to choose from!
We will still have to be very frugal with expenses at our Lab, we still need our sales to increase, we still have 108 employees depending on us for their livelihood…
But we still have an awesome God who provides! In very creative ways!
    .
So my dears, keep praying and keep trusting!
    .
    And keep reminding me…
    .
Because I know I will have those moments again where I need encouragement…
    .
Hugs to all of you! ❤️

Thank you for sharing this journey with your business. It really encourages me to see God providing for you. My husband and I recently bought his dads business. One my husband has ran for 25 years. I often have to repent of worry and doubt. He has always provided, and He will continue to. So thankful for your answered prayers. Praying for business to flourish with His favor!

    6. Rhonda J. says:

That’s wonderful, Praising God with you for his provision!! Glad you have shared with us from the fear and worry standpoint so we got to see the miracle!

I first heard this song over 40 years ago when a young girl sang it at church. The beauty and comfort in the lyrics still draws me in today.

    CONSIDER THE LILIES
    By The Hemphills

Consider the lilies, they don’t toil nor spin
And there’s not a king with more splendor than them.
Consider the sparrows, they don’t plant nor sow,
But they’re fed by the Master who watches them grow.

    Chorus
We have a Heavenly Father above
With eyes so full of mercy
And a heart full of love.
    He really cares when
    Your head is bowed low.
Consider the lilies and then you will know.
    Hmmmmm…..

May I introduce you to this friend of mine,
Who hangs out the stars and tells the sun when to shine.
He kisses the flowers each morning with dew,
But He’s not too busy to care about you.

    Chorus
We have a Heavenly Father above
    With eyes full of mercy
And a heart full of love.
    He really cares when
    Your head is bowed low.
Consider the lilies and then you will know.
Yes, consider the lilies and then you will know.

CeeGee, what a blessing! Thank you for sharing.
I recently read a book entitled, “Consider the Lillies”.
Such a great reminder that God provides!

❤ Thanks, Sue! I will look for that!

    2. Cee Gee says:

And, talk about PROVISION! This is the verse of the day on Biblegateway:
      1 John 4:9 NLT
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.

    3. Emily Burke says:

      What a beautiful song!

  22. Mari V says:

WOW…..this is so good! TRUSTING is the word that came to mind. When I fist became a Christian as teenager, Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first” (is how I learned it and was the first verse I learned). Later Phil 4:13 became my running mantra when training for a marathon in 2010/2011. NOW Phil 4:13 is my LIFE verse! TRUST! Last night as I went to bed praying for summer work (even though “resting” would be SO nice) and again, TRUST. Also I’ve been listing to the podcast. A couple a days ago I mentioned I had a response all written out and BOOM! All erased! I remember a portion of it. I was saying how I wished for JESUS to come back for all-of-us so that we can all go “together.” AND then as I listened to the podcast, the guest mentioned how we should be praying for Jesus to extend mercy for those to come to HIM! She goes on to say more, and would encourage you to give a listen. I had AGAIN written out a response this morning and had hit the wrong key and erased it again, but this morning I went back to rewrite in hopes I didn’t forget anything. I will re listen to the podcast because its that good.

    1. Mari V says:

ONE more thing that I remembered. Last summer I was able to “rest” for most of it. I’m trusting again. Thank you all for allowing me to express myself here. Love you all so much. NOW I’m running late for work haha

  23. Karen Breaux says:

    ❤✝️

  24. Wendy B says:

Thank you Lord, that you know all I need, that your provision covers everything and there is nothing I lack. It can be easily forgotten but Lord I praise you for the many ways you give good gifts. Align my heart with yours to not be distracted by worries that are not mine to carry or pursuing what I perceive as needs or desires that are not neccessary or part of your plan. Thank you Lord that your goodness is abundant.✝️

    1. Maria J says:

Amen! “Worries that are not mine.” I need to remember that phrase. Thank you Wendy for a prayer that I will make my own today.

    2. Tara B says:

      Amen, Wendy!

  25. Mia Faith says:

    Seek Him first! Look up!!❤️

    1. Tina says:

Hugs covered in love and prayers making their way to you, Mia..❤️

  26. Rhonda J. says:

Our Provider- Jehovah Jireh! He is enough! In Him, we have provision, we have everything we need! Oh why do we have such a hard time grasping this promise? He said it, therefore, I believe it, right? That’s faith? Trusting, knowing….seeking, asking and knocking. When we pray these promises it brings us into a oneness with our Father. To me it is helpful to remember raising our children…from birth- didn’t we care for their every need. We fed, we comforted, we wrapped and rocked, and provided. As toddlers we followed behind them, encouraging, letting them learn to walk and run. We were mothers that loved them more then they could ever know, providing tender care. We have to know that God is the same.

When we have a tight grip of control on everything around us, it only leads to more anxiety and fear. It troubles our hearts. God wants us to have peace, resting in his provision at all time. When I hit my knees 20 so years ago, it was when I had no control over my husband’s decision to leave our new little family. Oh it was devastating…but it was the first big whammie in my life that I could not control and make right. We will never be able to control all things around us. Sickness, loss, devastations…they all will find us no matter your wealth, color, or denomination. I am thankful that I cried out to good, and confessed I could not do it on my own. I knew He would provide, I just had to learn to wait and trust. And He did of course. Praise God!

Whatever it is you are trying to “fix” yourself today, turn your gripped palms over and release it to your Father. Lay it at the cross, at Jesus feet. He wants you to give it to him in trust. There are many songs on “surrender,” but Hillsong “I Surrender All’ is a good one.

Have a great day! I am still trying to knock this flu, but it wants to hang on. My son and GF come to visit in 2 days!! Prayers please to feel better and not get them sick!

Mercy- you got this girl!! Strong and Courageous!!!

    1. Cee Gee says:

❤ Great word, Rhonda! Praying for rapid recovery!!! ❤

    2. Kristy says:

      Beautifully said! Thank you!

    3. Tina says:

Praying for peace of heart and renewed strength to face this obstacle and to surrender your worries and anxiousness to Him..❤️

  27. Heather says:

This was a good reminder for me. I was laid off from my job late last year. Please pray that God will provide a good opportunity that is exciting for me. Its just me so I don’t have a second salary as a cushion.

I am anxious – wavering between thoughts that I will have to take a job I hate or sell my condo and move in with my parents because I won’t be able to find a job at all. A little dramatic I know. But praying and trying to hold on to Jesus’ encouragement to not worry about tomorrow.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Heather, I understand! Our son still lives with us because even though he has a good job/benefits and works hard, he would struggle to make ends meet if out on his own. I can understand how it would feel to move back with your parents once you have been on your own, but don’t let that be a stumbling block. God will work it out in His time. Prayers for just the right jib opportunity for enrichment and growth! ❤

    2. Wendy B says:

Im sorry you’ve lost your job. Not dramatic at all – its a legitimate and great concern when unemployment happens and you have bills to pay. Have prayed that the Lord would bring peace to your heart, wisdom and direction to pursue opportunities and that doors would be open to just the right job.

      1. Rhonda J. says:

        Yes, joining in this prayer!

    3. Gwineth52 says:

I pray you are calm, confident, courageous, dear Heather.

    4. Kristy says:

      Prayers!

  28. Emily Burke says:

This promise brought to mind the song The Lord will Provide by Passion.
Jesus is all we will ever need yet He still chooses to bless us exceedingly and abundantly beyond anything we could ask or think! I am encouraged to keep seeking the Lord and his kingdom knowing God in His faithfulness will add everything else I need in His way and in His timing.
All that I am needing I know the Lord will provide! ❤️

    1. Cee Gee says:

“All I have needed, Thy Hand hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness…” ❤

      1. Tina says:

Great indeed is His faithfulness. I love this hymn❤️

  29. Maria B says:

God is a wonderful provider, providing not just what we need, but also the things we do not know we need that only He knows about. And speaking of providing— wanted to share some wonderful news: we signed a contract with a builder to start rebuild our house (hopefully in April/May timeframe due to Minnesota weather). After many months, the burnt remains of the house were finally demolished and that was a very surreal experience. Now a blank lot stands where our old home was and it was bittersweet, but also it gave us a feeling of new beginnings, and we are embracing that. Thank you for all the prayers because you all have been a source of comfort to me throughout this whole journey. Have a wonderful day.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Oh Maria, that’s wonderful! I really can’t imagine my whole house being burnt up with all my things. I think of that every time I see your name, and you hardly ever mention it. To me that shows your strength and ability not to dwell on the negative aspect (like I surely would). Plus you have been living with your in-laws which has to be challenging as well! I am praying your new house brings lots of love and new memories.

    2. Searching says:

Thankful for good news and new beginnings!

    3. Jane K says:

Wonderful news, Maria! Hoping for an early spring in the Midwest!

    4. Cee Gee says:

Powerful testimony, Maria! Excited and praying for you as you take next steps! ❤

    5. Wendy B says:

What wonderful news after such a traumatic and difficult experience. May you continue to know the presence and provision of the Lord’s hand and your hearts be encouraged

    6. GramsieSue says:

Wonderful news! You’ve been on a bit of a long journey to get here, but here you are.

    7. Kerry Rowley says:

Praise God for His provision. Happy for you that you will have a new home

    8. Kristy says:

Praising God with you today! Wonderful news!

    9. Tina says:

      This is great news, Maria.
Goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days of my life and i will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
      He is Good.
      Amen.❤️

  30. Erica Chiarelli says:

Help me to remember that you are my provision, You are enough..You alone are all I need!

  31. Emily Burke says:

This promise brought to mind the song The Lord will Provide by Passion.
If we have Jesus we have everything yet still God desires to bless us and provide for our needs here on earth and does exceedingly and abundantly beyond all we could ask or think. I am encouraged to keep seeking His kingdom trusting in the faithfulness of God to provide for everything else. I’m still believing because I know the Lord will provide. ♥️
    The Lord will provide: https://youtu.be/vokR7AQs2u8?si=3-peAm-yP5Wu0WFt

  32. Kimberly says:

God promises to provide for us if we trust Him, seek His Kingdom, and prioritize His will. Worrying doesn’t change our circumstances, but faith and trust in God do.

  33. Danielle B says:

God you provide for us. As Sally summarized from Matthew you care for us more than flowers and the animals you created. Even more Lord than you providing you are our Provision. Thank you!

  34. Searching says:

It is a fact, God does provide. I know the truth of that in my heart as I can look back at times in my life and in the lives of others and see provision after provision. I’m not a worrier by nature and try to remember that worrying won’t change anything, it will just make me bonkers. So then my real nature comes out, The Fixer. Give me a moment, please, while I set my crown aside … it gets heavy as I attempt to solve the world’s problems, or at least the problems of those around me. Thankfully I am learning, albeit slowly, to pray first, pray second, seek the Lord’s guidance before saying yes or jumping in without being asked (really need eyeroll emoji). Lord, guide me to follow You each day and to walk in Your will and not in my impulsiveness.

In thinking about His provision and the truth of it, I struggle with trying to understand rampant hunger and homelessness, the meeting of basic needs. Lord, how should I be helping in this area?

Please pray for my friend, Linda – her mom passed away a couple days ago
    .
And another BIG thank you to each of you who, a few months ago, prayed for and wrote words of encouragement to June, who is at the same facility as our elderly family member. I printed them for her and she reads them every day, and she has thanked me so many times. She is very much alone there and your words have brought ongoing comfort and encouragement to her.

Song running through my mind this morning, Thank God I’m Free (free, free), James McFall, 1969. I read that his kids were a singing group out of Mississippi in the late 80’s – but not familiar to me.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, Searching. Most of us are “control” mentalities…wanting to “fix” everything and everyone we are close to. That’s what my current small group study is all about. Learning to “surrender.” It is a good study if interested!

I am so happy June is still being blessed! Now I wish I had thought to do something at Valentine’s Day for both of those ‘patients’!
      .
Now, you know I am intrigued with the McFall kids since I am from Mississippi! I lived in SC in the late 80’s so … ☺ ❤

  35. Libby K says:

Lord, fix my eyes on you. The first temptation was to doubt Your goodness and care. I’m still tempted today to feel that way.

  36. Tara B says:

I needed all of this today. I am broken and I needed to see that I could be. And I need to be broken. God is good! Praying my daughter will seek the things of God while away at college. She has struggled to find a good friend and is seeking places to meet people. Unfortunately, not in the clubs or organizations that seek the Lord. She knows better and was taught better, but in her stubbornness, she is seeking places where she thinks she will fit in and allowing woke thoughts to change her stance on things. Tears falling for my daughter. But in my brokenness, I am seeking the Lord. The verses from today and on the “Promises when” page in the book have been honey to my soul.

Have a wonderful day She’s and thank you for letting me share my struggles this morning.

    1. Libby K says:

Tara – I have adult (still kids if you ask me!) children too. Just remember that she’s finding her own way and you have given her a good foundation. I always have to remind myself that this is their testimony and God will bring them back to us.

      1. Gwineth52 says:

        “this is their testimony”…what a tender hearted/tough minded, mother’s mantra…

    2. Searching says:

Praying Tara, that your daughter would realize she will only find peace in the Lord and that she will begin making wise choices, that the Lord would draw her from the wrong path.

      1. Tara B says:

Thank you for your prayers, Searching! ❤️

    3. Rhonda J. says:

That’s so hard. But I remember most of us that grew up Christians, struggled with finding our own way in our late teens and twenties. My mom must have had a hard attack with the places I was working and things I was doing! But I know it was the foundation given (and she would say that), and faithful praying. The prodigals return! But like Libby said, they are walking their own testimony!

      1. Cee Gee says:

And look at you now! ☺ ❤

    4. Cee Gee says:

Tara, bless your mama’s heart! I join our sisters here and that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, your daughter will grow tired of the ‘in’ crowd and seek more stable connections for true and lasting friendship. ❤

      1. Tara B says:

Thank you, Cee Gee! I truly appreciate your prayers.

    5. Tina says:

Tara, I am sorry for you hurting heart.
Can I say, we worry, but the story we are worrying about is not ours, perse’, it is our children’s story. Their journey, their experience. We are called to be parents, love hard, pray hard and teach them the way to go, leading by example. There will always be a ‘rebellion’ of dort
      BUT GOD..
ALWAYS, Always has His eye on the sparrows, how much more your girl.. look at David. Look at Job. Look at Jonah..
This will be her testimony, one day..
      .
I will Keep holding her in prayer and yourself, to trust and know God’s peace..
Your daughter has had a good Start, she will not forget to whom she belongs. Give all you worries to God.. He is with you, and her. trust Him!
      Much love, covered in prayers..❤️

      1. Tara B says:

Thank you, Tina. Your words are true and I will hold them. All I can do is pray and show her Jesus by my words and actions.

  37. Aimee D-R says:

Thank You Lord! Reward my faith, forgive my doubt. Increase my faith! In Jesus name, Amen

  39. Kelly (NEO) says:

“Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”
    .
It struck me that it is the basics (food, water, and clothes) that God provides. This is not a promise of anything our hearts desire.
Also, this is what God provided to His people in the wilderness–bread, water, and clothes (Deut. 8:3-4; Isa. 48:21).
    .
MERCY – praying your review goes well today. May God give you the words to speak and that you have the courage to highlight your accomplishments for the year, including training the new staff. Don’t let the devil win, give glory to God for the giftings He has put in you and the things He has empowered you to do! ❤️
    .
GRAMSIESUE – keep your eyes on today’s Promise Maker, cuz He is a Promise Keeper!
    .
LYNNE FROM AL – praying the Lord provides you strenght for the day and peace for Jack.
    .
LINDA IN NC – praying your palliative care consult meeting brings stressrelieving solutions

  41. Sally B. says:

To sum it up, Ladies: God promises to provide for our needs, so we have no cause for worry or anxiety. He clothes the flowers of the field and feeds the birds of the air – will He not provide at least the same for His children? And worrying over them does not do us any good! Our Good Father has promised to gives us what we ask Him for in sincerity and after His will. And to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory! He is our Shepherd, providing good pasture and quiet waters, leading us along the paths of right living and even walking with us through the valley of the shadow of death. He feeds us and pours out blessings abundantly all our days on the earth and then allows us to dwell in His house forever! Hallelujah what a Savior!

    1. Kelly (NEO) says:

      Hallelujah and amen!
