Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 7:4-17, Isaiah 9:2-7, Isaiah 11:1-9, Daniel 7:14, Matthew 4:12-17, Revelation 11:15-17
After you finish reading today’s Scriptures, come back and read the essay here to dig deeper into the ways we see this specific promise at work in our day’s reading. Then join your fellow Bible readers in the comments to reflect on and discuss what you’re learning!
The Lord made a promise to King David, in the newly established kingdom of Israel that his house and kingdom would endure forever (2Sm 7:16). David lived and died, and many kings followed. Yet still, David was a finite man who received an eternal promise.
Jesus is the eternal King who sits on David’s throne. But more than that, He sits at the right hand of the Father. His kingdom is spread across the whole earth as the gospel is preached and received, until one day when it will be said, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ” (Rv 11:15). In Christ, we are now citizens of His kingdom, and when He returns, we will reign with Him.

This beautifully highlights how God’s promise to David finds its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus. His kingdom is not just earthly but eternal, and we have the incredible privilege of being part of it even now. What a hope we have in Christ’s reign! ❤️
Amen
Thank you, Lord! ♥️
Amen
There is nothing like knowing the Jesus Christ is coming back for his church, us.
I’m so grateful that God’s faithfulness is everlasting and forever
Something’s that stuck out from me from this reading was “ everlasting “. So many times in scripture God is showing us his promises and that his loves transcends time. He is with us always.
❤️
Thank you God for your promises and never ending faithfulness❤️
Amen
I was late to read everyone’s comments! So good! We have promises to stand on for our future! We have a hope in Christ of better things to come and that He is in control!
Praying for your friends, Teresa, and for their protection! Praying for all of you!
You are never late reading the comments. You come to the comments when God commands you.
Cheryl, I too, love coming back to the comments and try to pop back on near the end of the day to catch up on what additional thoughts have been shared after I had initially done so. It’s always so encouraging and insightful as well as an opportunity to join in praying for others as needed. This community is a blessing❤️

Great insights in the podcast this week especially the practical
When I read of the kingdom of God, I’m comforted that earthly kingdoms are only temporary. I grieve for the pain being suffered by so many in our country. My friend has three children she and her husband adopted from a Pacific Island country. Her children, two in grade school and one in high school, are being harassed because of the color of their skin. One, while alone, was stopped by an adult male yesterday and asked where he “came from.” The man kept demanding child answer him. And the child was frightened. These kids are citizens of the United States, adopted and brought here as infants. It’s heartbreaking. But, thankfully, we know we are all citizens of God’s kingdom, and we know what a wonderful day is coming. Please pray for my friend and her kids. Pray for their safety, protection, and peace. I’m so thankful for you all.
Oh my goodness! How frightening! What a terrible thing to happen. Have prayed for this child and their family right now. May the Lord’s presence and peace surround and protect them✝️

Theresa Donley I am praying.

Prayers for comfort, safety and peace for all the individuals who are experiencing hatred in our country. Jesus come into the hearts of those who are persecuting and inspire them to change their hearts.
❤️
Praying, Teresa!!
“David was a finite man who received an eternal promise.”
So it is, Shes.
People of faith.
Mortal flesh.
Bound to fail.
But be raised up.
Richly attired.
In the City of Christ.
In the Kingdom of God.
♥️
All of the Isaiah passages are getting me excited for the Lent study!
♥️
Our Lord is mighty and great! He is a faithful promise keeper, and we can see how our Lord’s promises have been fulfilled then and now. We can also know that future promises will be kept!
Whenever I feel discouraged and forgot God’s goodness to me, I recite 1 Samuel 7:12: “Thus far the LORD has helped us.”
❤️

Oh what a day of rejoicing that will be!

Happy Thursday sweet She’s!
Praying in agreement for Michelle.
Ditto, MICHELLE P, and prayers for your show tomorrow! ❤
Thank you both. Love you girls!!!!
❤
I literally told a girl friend the same thing today about not settling. Thank you praise Jesus! A beautiful confirmation of His word to me. ❤️
✝️❤
Come Jesus come ❤️
I love this verses that remind us of the Sovereignty and Supremecy of Christ, ruler over all. The verse from Daniel is one I often go to when praying for matters of politics in our world. No matter what, He reigns and is the ONE on the throne. Always has, always will be and it goes to everlasting. What a great God we serve that He has established His kingdom forever more.✝️
‘He was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, so that those of every people, nation, and language
should serve him.His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.’ Dan 7:14
Thank you for your prayers. I had an appt early yesterday with an eye specialist and he ruled out some more serious things and all should heal and be well. Thank you for praying.
Praying for you all – your requests and the things that are on your hearts❤️
I’m so glad all will heal with your eye. Answered prayers.

The promise of an everlasting Kingdom is huge. I mean, it’s the promise that makes it all bearable- the trails we go through, the awful we see in this world, the struggles, the horror of pain people suffer…
It’s the HOPE of the Kingdom Come! That death is no more! That all THIS is FOR something! That eternal blessings are ahead. That all things WILL be made right!! When we can’t keep going…the promise will hold us up.
We live in such a time as this…when prophesies and promises HAVE come forth, so we have trust and faith, that the fulfillment of the Kingdom will as well! But until then- we live NOW in the promise!! We live as people with hope, and live with people of the POWER of the Holy Spirit within them…Jesus in me, God in ME!! What glory this it! What Joy! And to share that is a great gift!
Amen, we live in such a time as this, exciting because of the promised transition for the church, but also.. not for the faint of heart, perilous time shall come, indeed it is at hand.
Yes!!
Amen, Rhonda ❤️
An everlasting kingdom, perfected by our Heavenly Father is a beautiful thought. We can avert our eyes, turn away from the brokeness of this fallen world and rest our hearts in the hope we have in Jesus.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
When HE returns! I can’ wait! And selfishly, I’m hoping that WE all meet up with Him together. It’s pouring and very windy this morning, and sounds a bit scary to hear the wind SO loud!! Love you all so much!!! Looking forward to another extended weekend as I’m trying to catch up on some sleep!
❤ SEARCHING – Your comment reminded me of one of my favorite verses:
Isaiah 40:4-
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: 5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
.
In my hunt for that verse in Isaiah this little nugget popped up:
Ecclesiastes 7:13 NLT
Accept the way God does things,
for who can straighten what he has made crooked?
.
If God can take David out of the pasture and put him on the throne …
What a God er serve!
.
As Valentine’s Day draws near, you caregiver sisters are heavy on my heart: LYNNE FROM AL,
LINDA IN NC,
NANCY S,
GRAMIESUE …
.
Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤
Yes, that verse from Isaiah reminds me of the song “Lion” by Elevation Worship! Oh valley-be raised up, oh mountain be made low…It is the song I “jam” (that’s an old word) to in the car!
Lol! That’s an old word because we are old, sister. ☺☺☺
I love these verses too ❤️
❤
I love thinking about Jesus receiving His forever glory and kingdom here on earth!
I kept reading 2 Samuel 7 until the end, and wow!!! That’s my prayer!!
How great and mighty is our Savior Jesus!! Amen!
And He shall reign forever more!
Amen!
I’m heading to the airport this morning to pick up a new puppy. Please pray for safety on the road as I will be by myself. I pray this new little girl will bring so much joy to a house that has had so much loss.
How exciting! Praying for you. They sure do bring us joy and comfort. What kind of dog?
Oh, Traci, what a blessing! I pray for safety in travel and an instant connection with this little ‘girl.’ ❤
Awe…that’s sweet. Have prayed for your drive and that smiles, fun and joy will fill your home❤️
Praying for traveling grace Traci, and that the new family

Praying for safe travels. What fun you’re going to have with a puppy in your home. I thank God daily for my dog. He brings me so much love and companionship.
Amen ❤️
All hail, King Jesus! Lord of heaven & earth…Savior of the world ❤️
Such a winding path we see as the Lord’s plan unfolded, to bring us everlasting salvation, to prepare us for His everlasting kingdom. It’s only with our limited vision that the path appears to be winding; God continually and purposefully taught and guided the lost with His wisdom of The Goal in mind, The Plan for our salvation through His Son Jesus’ sacrifice.

And once again, I can’t read Isaiah 9:6 without tears. Emotions and thankfulness overflow in just reading the opening words, For unto us a Child is born …
–
Reminded of a couple of songs this morning-
He Reigns by the Newsboys, and Lord Reign In Me by Brenton Brown. We used to sing this last one a lot in church many years ago, and I always thought it could just as easily have been Lord, rein me in!

MERCY – ❤️ outcasts, orphans, misfits no more – thank you
MOLLY R – welcome back
LISA H – why have I never noticed, Across from Jericho?! Thank you
MICHELLE P – praying, sister, for you and others (some very close to me) in the waiting. Cling tightly to the Lord and continue to trust Him. I let myself buckle under the weight of waiting you shared, marrying someone who loved the Lord but was clearly not God’s best for me – resulting in so much pain and misery, far heavier than the weight of waiting, and then adding to it the weight of shame I felt in divorcing him. Continuing to pray – Love you! ❤️
JANA – praying for stability in your job, for the Lord’s wisdom, comfort and guidance in the days and weeks to follow
MARIA B – you’re pondering on if we had a tangible symbol, loved your reminder that He is always with us, not locked away.
SUSAN BURLEY – praying for your family member and family in these uncertain circumstances
JESSICA SLAUGHTER – welcome!
CEE GEE ❤️
TAMI – praying
LORI LACKEY – praying
WENDY – praying
LYNNE IN AL – praying, sister ❤️
Clarifying my use of “winding” above-
Meandering would have been a MUCH better word choice, defined as “moving slowly in no particular direction or with no clear purpose:”
Beautiful. I also cry when I read that passage in Isaiah. Touches me every time I read it.
❤ I love He Reigns! I will look up the other song!
Oh, now I remember ‘Reign in Me’! I haven’t heard it in so long! ❤
Amen to the winding path and thank you for your clarification. Joining you in prayers ❤️
Thank you, Searching. You are dear. I am sorry for what you went through, thank you for sharing your experience. I pray He continues to use it to help others. ❤️ May the Lord continue to shower you in His love, always.
Holy Spirit rest on me, in me, go before and behind me! In Jesus name, Amen!
Amen!!!
His promises are unconditional. He remains faithful because of who He is.
Ohhhhhh Abba Father!!!! Yes!!!!
Lord, Jesus, thank You for coming to fulfill the promise made to David. And through You, I may be counted a subject of the eternal kingdom You reign over.
.
SUSAN BURLEY – pryers for your family member’s situation.
.
MOLLY R – good to see you.
.
MERCY – ❤️
.
MICHELLE P – praying for your heart to be full of peace.
❤️
Thank you sweet Kelly !! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ God bless your faithful heart.
Yes, Lord!
❤
The Isaiah verse always, always catches my heart, and has me catch my breathe..
Oftentimes and generally used at Christmas, verse 6..
.
A child is born to us! A son is given to us! And he will be our ruler. He will be called, “Wonderful Counselor,” “Mighty God,” “Eternal Father,” “Prince of Peace.”
.
Recently I was blessed to become a great grandma, and it’s hard to imagine that beautiful little person carrying the world’s problems, redemption and salvation on their shoulders.
I guess Jesus, a babe, was already destined and had that prophesy over Him.
What a weight!
All those fancy titles, and no mention of His sacrifice for an undeserving world!
So at the age of 33years old ( the age of my youngest child) He goes to the Cross for the sin and shame and then some of the world.. that is the truth of it! Can you imagine the weight of what He carried on His innocent, pure, blemish free shoulders and body? I have a hurty heart that has triggered tears which flow freely for the depth of love I am feeling. This love cannot be written, described or encountered, except through the love of and knowledge and acceptance of Christ.
I digress.
There must have been a great darkness, I mean, a bleak mid winter type of night-time darkness times a zillion, and then some for I imagine the weight of our sin and shame, would cover the world a zillion times over and over again..
.
BUT GOD..
.
Bursting forth from the grave, Jesus the greatest gift ever given, and, the great light needed to see The way, The truth and The life, turned our dire and hope-less lives into hope-filled lives with an “in” to an Everlasting Kingdom.
What salvation for a sinner such as I.
.
What redemption for us.
.
What a gift to an absolutely undeserving world.
.
What grace.
.
What mercy.
.
What love.
.
What a God..
.
AMEN.
.
Happy Thursday people! Sending much love across the pond, covered in hugs and prayers ❤️
Hallelujah, we are so blessed!
What depth of LOVE from our Lord! I cannot grasp. He is the Worthy One and has chosen me to carry His Truth. So small a task but worth for all eternity.♥️
❤️
I’m reminded of Tanner dying at 33. The scars he carried. The weight of such a rare illness. That Jesus did all he did in 33 years. That He died for us.
❤️
❤️
❤️
Write a book Tina!
❤
Amen ❤️
♥️Agree with Martha! ♥️
Beautiful thoughts, Tina. ❤️
While we know God is sovereign and still in control, won’t we be so excited to have Jesus rule and reign a kingdom free of sin and evil’s constant interference!
Come Lord Jesus.
Amen!
It’s so easy to think of promises as something exclusive — like a special gift meant for just one person. But God’s promises are so much bigger than that. His faithfulness is not limited by time, individuals, or circumstances. He doesn’t run out of goodness and His promises don’t expire.
—
When He made a promise to Abram, it wasn’t just for Abram; it was for all nations through him (Genesis 12:3). When He promised David an eternal kingdom, it wasn’t just about David—it was about Jesus, and through Jesus, all of us get to share in God’s promises.
—
His promises are FOR us, not ABOUT us. Abram and David got the promises, but we are living in the fulfillment of what God spoke long ago.
—
Father, help me to trust You, to plunge into Your promises, as the Message says. Remind me that I am already standing in the middle of Your faithfulness. Let my heart not be attached to the things of this world, but instead be fixed on eternity. May my life be a testimony of Your goodness, pointing others toward the hope that is found in You alone. AMEN.
“Remind me that I am already standing in the middle of Your faithfulness.”
Amen❣️
