Ephesians 2:4-5

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses.

MICHELLE PATIRE – my heart hurts for you and your family! We have lost many fur-kids through the years, some sudden, some not. I will be praying for your heart as you, hopefully, accept that you were not to blame and that you will not accept any blame focused on you. I will also be praying that through this grief will spark a new fire for the assembly tonight. It won’t be easy, but we know what God can do! Lean into Him. Love and hugs, little sister!

So very thankful for the marvelous grace of our Lord! I was reminded of this beautiful hymn as I read today’s Scripture:

“Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
    Yonder on Calvary’s mount out-poured–
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.
    Refrain:
    Grace, grace, God’s grace,
    Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
    Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!

2 Sin and despair, like the sea-waves cold,
    Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater– yes, grace untold–
Points to the Refuge, the mighty Cross. [Refrain]
    3 Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
All who are longing to see His face,
Will you this moment His grace receive? [Refrain]”

I’m sorry Michelle, I have lost two dogs. One was hit by a car (I felt guilty) and one we had to put to sleep. Please don’t blame yourself and I pray Jesus helps you in this difficult time. Hugs and prayers.

  15. Michelle Patire says:

    Hi Shes.
I don’t know if any of you have ever lost a dog before, but my family has four and we lost one quite abruptly yesterday. I am deeply grieving bc I was involved in the situation and alone when she got hurt. She was a small terrier, 9 years old, and healthy. I nudged her off the couch so I could fix it and told her to go eat her lunch. But something happened when she fell and suddenly she couldn’t walk on her back legs. I thought it was because of her bad leg she had once hurt before. I immediately called my dad but he didn’t really do anything. He was working. So I sent a video to my family chat and showed everyone else her struggling to walk. I put her on a chair after a moment and covered her in a blanket to keep her warm. I gave her a treat and she ate it. So I figured she was just badly in pain. She wasn’t moving after a while… so I would pet her and talk sweet to her.. she seemed just scared of what happened. I propped her head on a pillow bc she was laying weird and I wanted to make sure she was breathing well. I sent pictures of all this to my family chat.
I had plans to enjoy my day off and go to get coffee. After a half hour of tending to her, I thought, “What more can I do? She is in pain but she just needs to rest her leg.” So I made sure she was comfortable. Before I left, I put my hands on her and prayed for Jesus to heal her but if anything, please just be very near to her because she is in pain. I kissed her on her head and left. Her eyes were wide as I walked out the door, but I thought she was just concerned about her leg.

I feel so stupid bc my mom came home to her dead, eyes wide open and not breathing. I’ve never seen a dog have a seizure. I didn’t realize that had happened. I didn’t sleep til like 4am bc I feel so to blame for the situation. I feel bad I left. I was ignorant to how bad it really was. My whole family is very attached to our dogs. We talk to them like people. I’m sure some of you are similar. Anyways, I am grieving a lot. I have that worship night today but man, I can’t even stop crying. It is hard. Please pray for me and my family. Thank you.

  21. Lonnie says:

My heart is clinging to “rich in mercy.”

  22. Cecilia says:

I love how my study bible expands on it: “The penalty of sin and its power over our lives was destroyed by Christ on the cross. Paul has already stated that through faith in Christ we stand acquitted not guilty before God. God does not take us out of the world and make us robots – we will still feel like sinning, and sometimes we will sin. The difference is that before we became Christians we were slaves to our sinful nature, but now we can choose to live for Christ.

I’ve started visualizing what Christ did on the cross for my sins….when I feel tempted to sin or am having sinful thoughts….I visualize a post-it note w my sin and I pin it right back up on the cross. Why do I keep taking those post-its down? They belong on the cross…They are dead, he broke the vicious cycle… he died for our sins. It humbles me every time. Thank you Jesus!

    1. lynne says:

      Amen to that!!

      1. Ashley says:

This is so fantastic! Thank you for expanding on this for us.

  23. Susan says:

It is all because of His great love for us! Thank you Jesus!

  24. churchmouse says:

In the study guide, the Scripture ends with “… though we were dead in trespasses.” But in my version of the Bible it ends with “-by grace you have been saved.” Because that was omitted, I just wrote it in myself. “By grace you have been saved.” “By grace you have been saved.” That right there encourages thanks – living more than just thanks – giving. Though I was dead in my sins, by grace I have been saved. That right there is Gospel Truth. Let me write that down in bold letters. Thank you SRT for making me do just that. Good stuff!

    1. Ashley says:

This is a great example of why we must study and share the word. There is so much to be learned by absorbing everything that you can. You found more to the message! Amen! Make it BOLD.
