What verse is this because it’s not John 7:83 that isn’t a verse?
Hallelujah!
The Lord will always provide in HIS timing! He has given his Holy Spirit to guide us – what an awesome God we serve!
Amen
We are springs of living water. ❤️
Thank you for all your comments!
We have streams of living water flowing through us! May I not dam up the spring to be try to keep to myself but let it flow through me!
I’m so confused. I was looking at the Acts plan list and it goes from Day 5 to Day 8. Is anyone else’s app doing this?
Same
No, but the verse was wrong and the devotion/comment page for day 7 wouldn’t work. I think it’s just glitchy.
I’ve emailed SRT about the incorrect day # (should be 6) and the transposition of the verse, 83 should be 38.
You can reach day 7 on shereadstruth dot com. It’s our memory verses, Acts 2:37-39.
Thanks all who corrected the verse. I also found the correct one in the commentary area.
John 7:38
Grateful to continue to be able to dig into the word of god!
ADRIENNE – Thanks to a note from dear Searching, I finally answered your question about John 4:6 on day 4! Apologies for missing that!!!
I don’t know what you’re trying to pull but there is no John 7:83
It was a typo…should be John 7::38
It’s John 7:38
❤️✝️

What are your week 1 reflections? I’m seeing that as people were united in prayer, the Holy Spirit fell and then salvations and baptisms followed, bringing about a growth in the church. I know in my own personal life that when I have shared what God is doing in me and when I communicate the miracles I’ve seen in my life or in the lives of others, people’s minds and hearts are pricked. Their attention is heightened about the Lord. One time I had the opportunity to lead someone to Christ because she came to me after a period of unrest and said she knew Christ was the answer through my testimonies and dedication to Him. Let’s pray that we will all be more open-handed, obedient, etc. so that more may come to know him!
❤
Thanks for the clarification! Started a good conversation with my husband though.
A little background that I found interesting at bible ref…
.
During the Feast of Booths, Israel remembered God’s miraculous intervention on their behalf in the wilderness. As part of the celebration, priests would carry water to the altar in the temple. This recalled God’s provision of water from the rock (Exodus 17:1–7). On the last, most important day of the festival, priests would circle the altar seven times with a container of water. This is the moment Jesus makes this claim (John 7:37). These words continue a theme Jesus has used before, including with the Samaritan woman in Sychar (John 4:10–14), and the people near the shores of Galilee (John 6:35).
–
Jesus’ reference to the Scriptures probably isn’t meant as a quote of a single verse. Proverbs 18:4 and Zechariah 14:8 involve similar themes. Given the priestly ritual’s connection to the story of water from the rock, Jesus might have had Psalm 78:12–16 in mind. Likewise, the idea of life, or God’s truth, being a stream or spring is common in the Bible. The imagery implies something living, pure, and life-giving (Revelation 22:1–2).
–
This internal spring, or stream, is indicative of the Holy Spirit. He would come to live inside all who come to faith in Christ; however, this indwelling would not begin until after Jesus’ ascension (John 7:39; Acts 2:1–4; Ephesians 1:13–14).
– – – –
It’s interesting that the priests in John 7 circled the altar 7 times – and in Joshua 6:1-5 Joshua was instructed to march around the city for 6 days, on the seventh day 7 priests were to carry trumpets and march around 7 times…lots of 7’s in the bible!

There was a bit of a misprint/type this morning. I was confused thinking to myself, “but there isn’t no John 7:83…” But reading the verse and then reading in the Bible it all clicked… I think I need my coffee now… Good Morning Folks! See, this is why we read the Word for ourselves, so we can catch these things, small as they may be.
So what is the actual verse please?
It’s John 7:38* not 83
Copied and pasted verse onkine to get the right one!
I want to share the following verses as they apply to our current week of study:
39 He said this about the Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit, for the Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
✨
From the NIV Application Bible:
John 7:37-38
Each day of the feast witnessed a water ceremony in which a procession of priests descended to the south border of the city to the Gihon Spring. In the desert, God brought water from a rock, and here water was flowing from the sacrificial rock altar of the temple. Ezekiel and Zechariah had visions of rivers flowing from the temple in a miraculous display of God’s blessing (Eze 47; Zec 14:8). In a drought-stricken land, it was a spectacular vision of life-giving water flowing from God’s life-giving temple.
On this final day of celebration, Jesus steps into public view and makes his most stunning pronouncement of the feast, which parallels symbolically what Jesus did in Jn 6 at Passover. Just as earthly bread led to memories of heavenly bread (manna), which concluded with Jesus offering himself as the bread of life (6:35), so now Jesus is doing the same.
At the Festival of Tabernacles, Jesus is saying he is not only the new temple and source of living water but also the rock that, when struck, will yield life-giving water. Is it any surprise that when Jesus is struck on the cross with a spear, his side yields blood and water (19:34)?
Question for growth:
How has Christ helped you when you were thirsty? What do you think the rivers of living water flowing out of Christ’s followers represent?
7:39-John explains that Jesus was referring to the Holy Spirit in this pronouncement. This gift must await Jesus’ “glorification” to be distributed. As we watch the Passion story unfold, we will do well to observe how the Spirit becomes a signal feature of Jesus’ departure from the world and return to the Father.

WARREN WIERSBE STUDY BIBLE NOTES
John 7:37-39:
The last day of the feast would be the seventh day, a very special day on which the priests would march seven times around the altar, chanting Psalm 118:25. It would be the last time they would draw the water and pour it out. No doubt just as they were pouring out the water, symbolic of the water Moses drew from the rock, Jesus stood and shouted His great invitation to thirsty sinners. Jesus was not suggesting a shallow “taste test” but rather the deep personal commitment of the person to truth. The Jews depended on education and authorities and received their doctrine secondhand, but Jesus insisted that we experience the authority of truth personally. The Jewish leaders were attempting to kill Jesus, yet at the same time they claimed to understand God’s truth and obey it. This proves that an enlightened and educated mind is no guarantee of a pure heart or a sanctified will. Some of the world’s worst criminals have been highly intelligent and well-educated people.
38, 39:
Water for drinking is one of the symbols of the Holy Spirit in the Bible. (Water for washing is a symbol of the Word of God; see 15:3; Eph. 5:26.) Just as water satisfies thirst and produces fruitfulness, so the Spirit of God satisfies the inner person and enables us to bear fruit. At the feast, the Jews were reenacting a tradition that could never satisfy the heart. Jesus offered them living water and eternal satisfaction!

Matthew West – Good (Lyric Video)
I’m good at always falling down
You’re good at never giving up
I’m good at getting turned around
You’re good at saying I’m still loved
And I was wrecked by mercy
The day I understood
I’m not loved because I’m worthy
I’m loved because You’re good
Loved because You’re God
I’m loved because You’re faithful to me even when I’m not
Oh God You are so good
When there’s nothing good in me
Just a grateful sinner saved by You
Is all I have to be
And I was wrecked by mercy
The day I understood
I’m not loved because I’m worthy
I’m loved because You’re good
Songwriters: Matthew West, AJ Pruis
