Grace Day

Open Your Bible

John 1:4

Take today to pause from the busyness of the season to catch up on your reading and make space for prayer. Consider making time for one of the ideas from your lists on pages 16–17 to practically and tangibly embody the Advent rhythms of waiting and celebrating.

In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
—John 1:4

RHONDA J, WENDY B, and other SHES struggling with the sporadic ‘REPLY’:
Are you checking the box (“save my name, email, etc., in this browser…”) below ‘comment/ reply to …’?
I have stopped checking that box and have had success with posting multiple replies in one sitting.
I lose the edit option that way, but it’s worth it to me. Just thought I’d throw that out there. It may even help the TECH TEAM. ☺

    1. Kelly (NEO) says:

CEE GEE & SRT TECH TEAM – I usally have that box checked.I have not had any problem in my android Samsung phone replying at any time. I use Firefox to access content through the SRT website..
      .
And the editing option is still showing up

      1. Cee Gee says:

Thanks, Kelly! Good to know! I haven’t checked on my laptop or android phone. Guess I should. ☺❤
I hope this helps the team! Appreciate those guys/gals so much!!!

      2. Wendy B says:

I, too have a Samsung phone and have had all the issues. Ha, ha. That being said, today, I’ve had no problems with reply, but and my font still being very small. :)

A new song, to me, was just playing and has the line of “Heaven’s light makes the darkness disappear!”
It’s “Because of Bethlehem by Mathew West! Very pretty! All because he came as a baby to walk with us and show us the way! And to go through all we do. Love is here, Hope is born! Amen!

And now “Light of the World”… by We the Kingdom!
Talk about a recurring theme Michelle Bohrer!

    1. Cee Gee says:

Yes, both are those songs are great! I’ve kistened to loght if the world a ‘few’ times this season! ☺

John 1:4 gives context to verse 5 in that the LIGHT in v. 5 is identified in v. 4. Twi of the most beautiful verses in the New Testament (to me). ❤

4The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone.
5 The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. (NLT)

    SONG SHARE:
“Great Are You Lord” always comes to mind with this passage and I just found a version by Casting Crowns!
    Partial lyrics-
You give life, You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore every heart that is broken
    And great are You, Lord
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise, we pour out our praise
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only

    Love, hugs,and prayers! ❤

It’s Saturday!! And for the most part I slept well!

Sitting next to our Christmas tree!

And how sweet reading our scripture for this morning. In Him was life, and that life was the “light” of men.

Thank you Jesus for your “light” guiding us to YOU! As hard as life can get sometimes I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but HERE with you.

Hello, this is my first advent. I’m trying to make a routine and stick to it and I actually am. Im so proud of myself that God is helping me with it. I am noticing a recurring theme in this Advent though, but maybe its me. Darkness or Dark is they word I keep seeing and in these days we see it a lot. I love the scripture John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” I feel that even when we have darkness in our life the light is there we just have to keep holding on because it will shine through. Have a blessed day!

    1. Cee Gee says:

Amen, Muchelle and welcome! One of my favorite Scriptures, too! So glad you are here! ❤

    2. Rhonda J. says:

A BIG Amen!! So happy to have you with us Michelle!!
These are some of my favorites too! I use the dark/light analogy a lot, because it’s easy to understand, but profound as well! Jesus IS the light! And no darkness shall overcome him!! He shines in the dark places!

I guess I am using my one and done here!!
My reply only gives me one time, then it doesn’t work! :)

    3. Wendy B says:

      Welcome :)

    4. Lindsey Bradley says:

Amén! Welcome to Advent! The scripture you posted is one of my favorites.

  20. Wendy B says:

Light and life….thank you Lord. All praise and honor to you, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, our Savior and Light of the world.

  21. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Praise God for the light of Jesus in this world!
    .
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 Amen!

    Happy Saturday She’s! ❤️

  22. Rhonda J. says:

Jesus is life! Sure I was living before I knew Him, but my life was a mess! What I thought was living a “great and fun” time..kept leading to failure, hurt, and mess after mess. I had no idea what true life was.
True life is identity in Jesus that gives value, purpose destiny, joy, and overflowing love for people. It removes shades from your eyes you didn’t know were there! It renews your mind from anxiety and fear, to focus on the things of God! You are no longer like those of the world, you are his and shine his light! Living abundantly through Him! You walk a new walk, and talk a new talk! Even your family sees the difference in your demeanor and attitude! The fruits are obvious! All this is only possible through the one that IS life, and only through him are we able to access it!

    From Google-

“In Him was life”: This points to Jesus (the Word/Logos) as the origin of all creation, as stated in John 1:1-3, and the giver of eternal, abundant spiritual life, not just biological existence.

“That life was the light of men”: This divine life within Jesus is synonymous with spiritual illumination, guiding people out of ignorance, sin, and spiritual death (darkness) into truth, revelation, and God’s presence.

Context with John 1:5: The following verse, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it,” emphasizes this light’s triumph over evil and its enduring power, a core theme of John’s Gospel.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Oh, sorry, Rhonda! I, too, mentioned context in my comment just now! ☺
I love how God gives you the words to work your persinal testimony (and share here) with jyst about everything you read. That is so pierrful and encouraging! ❤

      1. Cee Gee says:

Oops, hit reply too soon- EDIT: *personal”… and “just”

  23. Kelly (NEO) says:

The is life in now other.
    .
    Thank You, Jesus.

  24. Meagan C says:

This world feels so very dark. Christmas reminds us there is still light in the world. May we carry this light past the Christmas season so others know all year long that there is light and hope in the world through Jesus!

    1. Cee Gee says:

Amen, Meagan! How are you and the little one adjusting? Hope your husband’s job is going well! ❤

      1. Meagan C says:

        Hello Cee Gee!

Thank you for asking! We are adjusting quite well now! God makes it clear daily that He is guiding us. His plan for us is here. Your prayers have been felt deeply. Have a wonderful week!

        1. Cee Gee says:

❤ Such a sweet update! Thanks so much! ❤

  25. Searching says:

In Him was life, and that life was the light of men, other translations say mankind or everyone.
    .
Jesus is the life, and we have eternal life through Him as believers. In John 11:25-26, Jesus is talking with Martha before He raises Lazarus from earthly death …
    .
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
    .
    Yes, I believe.

    1. Jane K says:

      Yes, I believe!

    2. Cheryl Blow says:

      Yes!

    3. Cee Gee says:
