Today I got up early and drove to the mountains to go on a group kayaking trip. I decided to listen to the book of John read aloud on the Bible app, and got to about chapter 13 before I reached my destination. It was such a lovely review to hear it all flow and think, “Oh, I remember that part! And then this happened!” I would like to preview the rest of the book before we get there if possible. And the drive itself was an act of worship, just seeing the majesty of the at near-peak! I highly recommend it if you have a long drive or a regular commute.

    1. Wendy B says:

The picture of hearing God’s Word with the mountains as your backdrop is beautiful❤️

  6. Adrienne says:

I am late to the party today… but (as always!) so many great comments and much to ponder. Trying to listen to the podcast at week’s end to see if it is better for me to do at the beginning of the week or the end. What are your thoughts, sweet She’s?
    .
    Go!

    1. AZ Walker says:

The SRT podcasts are so great! I work full time during the week so Saturday mornings is when I listen usually so I can take my time and take lots of notes! Praying for the requests and peace for all and their loved ones.

      1. Adrienne says:

        Thank you.

    2. Wendy B says:

I prefer to listen on Mondays and feel like it sets me up to prepare for what is ahead in the passages we read. :)

      1. Adrienne says:

        Thanks, much.

    3. Kelly (NEO) says:

Definitely after on Saturdays so that I “hear” what God has to say to me before hearing what stood out to Raechel andd Amanda. (Funny when it is the same.]

      1. Adrienne says:

        Thanks a lot.

    4. Brenda DiCicco says:

I listen as I go. Each day I do the reading and make my own notes then I do the devotional and read a few comments (since I am an early riser and reader), and then I listen to the part of the podcast that talks about that day’s reading. It isn’t perfect since they don’t always go day by day or spend an equal amount of time on each day but I make a note in my study book of where I left off and pick back up the next day.

      1. Adrienne says:

        Many thanks.

  7. Aimee D-R says:

    Amen

  8. Cee Gee says:

I’d rather live with the ANCHOR of HOPE than the anchor of sin.
    As Ben Fuller’s song says,
“If I Got Jesus, I’ve Got It All.” Partial lyrics:
    If I got Jesus
I’ve got all that I could ever need
Take the world away from me
    And I’ll be okay
    If I got Jesus
    There’s a hope that’s living deep inside
A joy that I could never hide
And a safe place to fall
    If I got Jesus
    I’ve got it all
    .
    Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤
Praises for the way God is moving as noted in the prayer updates! ❤

  9. Tricia C says:

I am just now catching up. I just finished yesterday‘s reading and I just want you to know how much your comments and your thoughts and your sharing has blessed me. I’ve prayed over the requests that are there. Searching, I thank you for having that list of people with their requests. All of the songs that were shared were just so beautiful. Most of them I have heard, but it has been a very long time.

As I’m closing out my time in the Word today this scripture came to mind. After reading how Mary poured it all out for Jesus, I want to do the same in every way of my life.
    Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬ ‭-
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”
    ‭‭
You ladies are such a blessing to me. I pray that you have a blessed weekend.

    Tricia

    1. Wendy B says:

I agree Tricia and echo your thoughts of appreciation.

What a great verse. Thank you for for pointing our hearts to meditate on those words this morning.❤️

    2. Cee Gee says:

Beautiful, Tricia, and thank you for sharing Romans 12:1!
      Perfect. ❤

  10. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

I’ve read this verse many times, but today it was eye opening. “…Don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.” To submit is to willingly and voluntarily place yourself under the authority of another.
    .
Why would anyone willingly become a slave to something that puts them in bondage (oppressive servitude)?
    .
Yet that’s exactly what the Jewish Christians were doing, according to Galatians 5 – as they were pushing circumcision and obligating themselves to the law.
    .
Christ came to fulfill the law. His death on the cross has set us free – and we are free indeed! It is by grace we are saved, not by any works of righteousness.
    .
As Paul says in Galatians 3:1, O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you…??
    .
Let us not be “bewitched” let us continue to run the course by grace through faith, and let us not get entangled in the law when Christ has set us free.

    Continued prayers for your requests.
    Happy Saturday She’s!

    1. Tricia C says:

      Amen

    2. Wendy B says:

      Yes and Amen❤️

    3. Cee Gee says:

Reminded me of the secular song- bewitched, bothered, and bewildered. Is this not also the draw and effect that sin creates?!
I found this description online:”… the original Broadway production of “Pal Joey,” which premiered on December 25, 1940. It has since become one of the most enduring pieces in the Great American Songbook.

Themes: The lyrics express the feelings of a person who is enchanted and confused by love, reflecting a mix of vulnerability and desire. The phrase “bewitched, bothered, and bewildered” encapsulates the emotional turmoil that often accompanies romantic relationships.

  11. Tara B says:

Amen Sisters! Leaving this morning for 3 hours of our annual Fall Festival at church. There are typically 1500+ that attend. So please pray for their hearts to be open to the gospel. It is presented all over our festival. On the hayride. Throughout the scavenger hunt. The bag each family receives…May hearts be changed by the Gospel of Christ! Have a wonderful Saturday, She’s!

    1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Praying for your festival – may many be touched and moved in their hearts by hearing the gospel!

    2. Kristy says:

Praying people will recognize their need for a Savior through your festival today

    3. Tricia C says:

      Praying now

    4. Cee Gee says:

      ❤❤❤

    5. Rhonda J. says:

That sounds amazing!! I haven’t done “fall” in 6 years! Granted Chicago is NOT what I called Fall! But being from Ky, I loved hayrides and pumpkins, and mazes!! How fun to provide that with a focus on Jesus!! Prayers for a great day!!

  12. Wendy B says:

This verse paints a very black and white picture – there is no grey. Sin is heavy and weighs us down. True freedom is walking in obedience to the Lord and fellowship with Jesus.
Lord, thank you for the true freedom we find in you; for your grace, mercy and forgiveness. It is more than we deserve and yet available to us. Thank you Lord. May I worthy of this and testify to the fullness and freedom of your love and the life found in you. Amen ❤️

    1. Tricia C says:

      Amen

    2. Cee Gee says:

      Amen! ❤

        That’s AWEsome, Rhonda! ❤

Thank you to all who pray. And thank you Kelly and Searching for always putting up reminders of prayer needs.

      1. Cee Gee says:

REBECCA, praying his release is timely and praying with you that he will seek Jesus during this time. We are here for you, too! ❤

      2. Rhonda J. says:

Praying for your son Rebecca to find Jesus, true freedom and deliverance!!

    3. Leanna Thompson says:

My son has an appointment on November 4th to meet with both of the surgeons that will finally perform his spinal surgery. You may remember I asked for prayers several months ago when we first were going to another state to seek surgery because no surgeon would perform the surgery here. My son has lost weight (a requirement to help prevent infection) and I hope it is enough. He has plans to attend his best friend’s wedding the end of March and we’re in a time crunch now. Thankful for all of you SRT ladies.

      1. Cee Gee says:

I remember, LEANNA! Glad for the weight loss and praying with you for favor in all of this! ❤ Hugs for your heart in the waiting! ❤

      2. Rhonda J. says:

Oh Leanna! Praying for a successful surgery, especially from someone that has been fused down my entire back, 2 times. Last one, not so fun. But God..he did some miracles!

    4. Donna Wolcott says:

Dear Kelly, thank you for checking in, I have been reading my books but not comments for awhile. Matt’s lung is getting better but has a little ways to go. Shoulder fxs are mending, 10 ribs healing but displaced. Surgery is still on the table. He can drive now, hikes for strength training, PT and is interviewing for a new job. It’s been a difficult 3+ months. His faith is very strong and he feels God has a plan in all this. Thank you so much again for asking and for prayers. My daughter-in-law has been a “rock star”!

      1. Cee Gee says:

DONNA, that is so encouraging! ❤

      2. Rhonda J. says:

I have wondered how his recovery has been going as well! I am so glad he sees God in it all!! That is so huge and a testimony!

    5. Cee Gee says:

Thank you, Kelly, for updating! I started to ask about little mama earlier this week. ☺ Praying for clear and definite next step with furbaby’s test on Monday, and peace for you and your husband in whatever decision is made. Love and hugs, sweet sister! ❤❤❤

    6. Heather O'Malley says:

Kelly (NEO), thank you for keeping track of all the prayer requests. What a blessing! Hudson is even more defiant about Christianity. He is searching spiritually, so I’m praying God would soften his heart and open his ears to hear the Holy a spirit’s prompting. Our older son, Jack, is starting to go to a good church with a friend of his, who is newly married. That is a huge answer to prayer!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Praise God to Jack! Prayers for both!

    7. LindaK says:

Hello, yes I do have a praise report on my recovery from surgery 3 weeks ago. I am getting stronger each day. I am now able to walk with no assistance. I continue to have pain and take pain pills. Right now I am trying to stretch out the time between pills. I have been blessed by the encouragement of cards, calls, texts, flowers, money, food etc. that I’ve received. God is a healer!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

That’s wonderful Linda! It’s so hard to be patient in the healing!

    8. Adrienne says:

You and Searching are prayer warrior rock stars! Thank you for that!

      1. Cee Gee says:

        ❤ agreed!

    9. AZ Walker says:

Thank you Kelly for following up on all these prayer requests. Katie landed a really good job last month and is obeying the court order to stay away from her ex boyfriend. God is good!

  15. Rhonda J. says:

I’m thinking over my teachings throughout my life as a Christian. God’s Justice-God’s love. We had the heavy hand growing up in church. In the 80’s, the preachers all talked about sin and God’s coming judgement! Repent, Sinners, Repent! You grew up knowing Sin-bad, I don’t want to go to hell! It didn’t feel like freedom because…well, you were always afraid and worried if you were getting it right or falling short.
Then came the Grace revolution! Ah..freedom from the chains. The New Testament! God is love. God is grace and forgiving! Don’t be so strict and uptight in your faith..Jesus Saves! This was indeed good news. Yet, we had swung the pendulum way top far the other way! We see how kids turned out with no discipline! They are entitled and have no sense of responsibility.
The Israelites surely felt bondage to rules, restrictions, must attend high days. No doing that, no participation in that…no bacon (what!?) Keep your tassels attached (I can’t sew?!)

But Jesus—He came to give us freedom!

The law shows us we can not make it on our own! Jesus didn’t come to abolish it though, he came to fulfill it! We know this if we are a student of faith, yet we still can point to “religions” that seem to be too far to one side of the pendulum.
How do we know if we ARE getting it right?! One word- the Bible. I don’t think anything can take the place of the bible. How are we to know what God says, who he is, what he expects? How are we to know who Jesus is, why he came, the purpose of it all? We too often, get our view from our family or church we grew up in. Or Christians that turned us off. The podcasts we listen to or preachers we follow. Our emotions that create what we want in a god. But reading the word, studying it, and meditating on it, is our foundation. And there begins the freedom. Because we learn both God’s Judgement and Grace.

    1. Therese says:

      Amen. Love this ❤️

    2. Kristy says:

Amen. I wish people would open the word and see who Jesus really is for their own self! So many Christians that never open their bible. Growing up in church it wasn’t until I got serious with The Word that Jesus showed me who he truly was! I love my Bible, just looking at it brings me peace.. so thankful how he answered my prayer to give me a hunger and thirst for His word. So so thankful!

      1. Tricia C says:

        Yes!

      2. Rhonda J. says:

        YES! Amen!! Same.

    3. Cee Gee says:

“…reading the word, studying it, and meditating on it, is our foundation. And there begins the freedom.”
      Amen! ❤
      .
Thinking of the song SEARCHING reminded us of not long ago: B-I-B-L-E. ☺❤

      1. Rhonda J. says:

lol, I too, thought of that!! (shocking).
As a matter of fact, next two weeks in jail, we are talking about Bible reading and meditation, so of course i’m thinking of songs to sing that go, and I thought…how would the react if I had them clap and sing the B-I-B-L-E….? lol

  16. Searching says:

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. NKJV
    .
Another admonition and reminder – sin enslaves us, Jesus sets us free … don’t turn back.
I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back …
    .
MERCY ❤️ your sharings this week have been wow, thank you. “Borrowed oil doesn’t work. You can’t depend on someone else’s relationship with God!” And the song you shared – when I read the lyrics, I said I don’t know this song … except I had a tune in my mind as I was reading? Yes, when I looked it up, it was the tune in my head. The Lord created an amazing thing when He designed our brains, to pull that tune out of somewhere I had it stored & forgotten.
WENDY B ❤️ I hear ya! The combination of the connecting Scriptures curated by SRT and the insights and research shared here by our sisters help me connect the dots and glean more understanding from God’s word. Your insight on Mary, I read it several times to really let it sink in. Thank you.
CEE GEE ❤️ the necessary things, an attitude of worship and meditation, and listening with an open mind and heart to Jesus’ words. Thank you, and love that song, The Heart of Worship.
SHARON JERSEY GIRL ❤️ Broken and Spilled Out, I haven’t heard that song in so long, thank you.
    MARTHA HIX ❤️

    1. Wendy B says:

      ❤️

    2. Cee Gee says:

Amen to every bit of that! You and our sisters here are amazing! ❤❤❤
      .
You mentioned a song I had planned for life group last week, but we didn’t get to sing it. ☺
      .
Please update your requests when you can. Love and hugs! ❤

  17. Shelly Hoye says:

  18. Michelle Paul says:

@Courtney, this reminds me of what we were talking about earlier this week. True freedom.
God calls us to obey our earthly masters but also not submit to a yoke of slavery. True freedom is internal and LEADS to service with a joyful heart. ♥️

“Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬
