Grace Day

Open Your Bible

Micah 6:8

Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

Mankind, he has told each of you what is good
and what it is the LORD requires of you:
to act justly,
to love faithfulness,
and to walk humbly with your God.

..to act justly, to love faithfulness and to walk humbly with God. THIS week I was extended GRACE. It was our first week back to school! I love, love, love our sweet TK students, even the challenging ones (LOL face emoji) I’ve been having challenges with sleep. On Sunday I started to go to bed early to get use to my new schedule, but ended up “awake” for hours in the middle of the night. Needless to say I’ve been very much sleep deprived. On the first day of school (Tuesday) I slept maybe 2 hours. I was conscience of my lack of sleep and prayed I would be alert and ready for the sweet little ones. I did just fine with them, but not with some of the adults. I ate some humble pie as it was brought to my attention since it had been a few days (during training) that I was not patient with adults. While I know being sleep deprived should never be an excuse for my behavior yet it was and even though my actions was brought to my attention, GRACE was still extended!! …”to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk “humbly” with God.”… Thank you JESUS!

    1. Sandi says:

I had sleep deprivation for years and it was tough because I was a driver for a bank. 1 day I basically slept walked through my route with no memory of the day. I immediately gave my notice that very day,and started a dog sitting business. God was watching over me that day. I will pray that you will be able to sleep.

    2. Indiana Elaine says:

I was sleep depraved for many years. Finally found out it was my thyroid. It took a long time to get it corrected and adjusted. Now with my pain meds and muscle relaxers, I can’t stay awake. I’m sure I will be back to a different normal soon.

      1. Adrienne says:

Maybe my thyroid is behind my sleep and many other things…

    2 Corinthians6:16b-19
For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

    “I will dwell in them
    And walk among them.
    I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”

    17 Therefore

    “Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
    And I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
    Says the Lord Almighty.” NKJV

    2 Corinthians 7:1
Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God. NLT

Oops I meant the Philippians (4:8) “Whatever verses not Ephesians.

  7. Cindy Hanna says:

Words to live by. I use this verse and the Ephesians “Whatever“ verses as touch stones to check the motivations of my heart. They give me a pretty good sense of what I need to correct, repent, and purposefully look for areas to grow in.
I never want to forget Who I serve and represent.

  8. Aimee D-R says:

    Amen

  9. Wendy B says:

These are wonderful, “check your heart” verses to rest on. Words of instruction to put into action in our lives, all summed up so succinctly. May these words be the narrative of my life, the posture of my heart in walking with Jesus❤️

    1. Cee Gee says:

Amen, Wendy! ❤ Hugs and prayers for healing! ❤

  10. Searching says:

The preceding verses 3-7 are rhetorical questions, a recount of what God had done for the ungrateful Israelites and a list of what they are doing as routine but not from their hearts.
Back to from our hearts basics …. do justly, love mercy, walk humbly with our God. Believe in Jesus and His sacrifice, accept His gift of salvation, follow Him.
    .
    Side note –
John 3:16 is seemingly always quoted by itself, yet I think verses 14-16 are of even impact as repetition is a great teacher.
John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. [caps, mine of course :) ]

I totally agree with you on those verses! When we studied John in SS a while back, those jumped off the page and I wondered how they could have been ‘swept under the rug’ for most of my life. Thank you for mentioning that!

  11. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Good morning She’s!…I’m a day behind in my readings but wanted to comment on yesterdays passage.

I have always loved the book of Philemon. It is a beautiful story of what forgiveness, grace and redemption looks like.
    .
There is much to learn in Paul’s greeting alone!…Here is a man that spoke boldly for the gospel, he didn’t sweet coat anything – he told it like it was. Yet, as he addresses Philemon, we see a different side of Paul – a compassionate, tender side – as a father talking to a son.
    .
Paul was wise in first “seasoning” his letter with thanksgiving and praise for his partnership with Philemon, and hinted to the fact that how Philemon responded could very effectively be used to deepen his understanding “of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.” It could be a real learning experience.
    .
Everything that happens in our lives is for our good, our growth and for God’s glory…and in this case, even accepting back a runaway slave.
    .
Everything that we do should be on the basis of love, after all – God loved us (who were slaves to sin) so much that He sent His only Son to die for us.
    .
Paul could have demanded or forced Philemon to take back Onesimus, which could have resulted in anger or animosity. But instead, he appealed in love.
    .
Onesimus, as a new believer and convert under Paul, was so, so dear to him – describing him as “my very heart”. He poured himself into Onesimus, teaching him and equipping him in how to live as a new creature in Christ. Paul loved him so much that he was willing to take any punishment for him.

This account opens up so many questions…
    .
How do I address someone that I have something very important to discuss with – am I gentle, loving, gracious?
    .
Am I disciplining new believers in Christ?
    .
If I am in a place of authority, do I appeal to others on the basis of love, or do I do it demanding and forcefully?
    .
Do I desire to “refresh one’s heart in the Lord, or simply get the result I’m looking for?

The book of Philemon – such a great example of friendship, co-laboring together and love for the saints – who are all equal at the foot of the cross.

Today’s verse sort of goes along with yesterday’s – Paul in a sense was asking Philemon to do this very thing – to act justly, love faithfulness and walk humbly with your God….a lesson for us all!

  14. Rhonda J. says:

Its seems so simple. The word is given to us, telling us what is good and what the God of the universe, creator of every hair on our head, knitting us each in the womb requires of us…yet. We want to do things and life our way. We think we know what is best, our desires and dreams. Then we get to a place instead of on top of the world we are at the bottom of the pit wondering why our life is a mess and unfulfilling! We turn our back on our maker. It may not even be obvious or a deliberate move, it just happens over time! We, too, our the wayward, stiff-necked Israelites.
Last night at homeless a lady came up and asked for prayer. It’s one of those that afterwards I am kicking myself for not following through on more!! She wanted prayer hoping God had received her mother 2 years earlier in her death. After I prayed she said let me tell you what I believe. “I am spiritual and believe God is everywhere and around us all, in nature and we all have our own way.” Something like that. I did say, yes God is EVERYWHERE and made all but he also sent his Son Jesus and he is the one and only way. She listened and all and was sweet and continued talling with us. But today I’m like…wish I would have continued and told her why would God send Jesus to die on a cross, a horrible death IF everyone has their own way and will be with God regardless..and we are just doing our thing then go to heaven. It was a great opportunity I felt like I missed. But I am praying she will come next week, wish she said she would! I want to let her know that there is the bible, the word of God, just like our verse says today. And Jesus is the way, the truth, the life. Only through him, and rebirth will we see heaven. We must get bold and seek the lost, and give them truth!
By the way, her name is Martha, my mother’s name and her mother’s name as well!
    Have a great Saturday!!
I’m hoping to meet one of my Butterflies this morning!! She wants to come to church in the morning as well!

    1. Cee Gee says:

Praying you get another opportunity to share the Truth with Martha! ❤
RHONDA- I am sending you something in a bit on the FB page. I hope it will help with Martha, but just in general. ❤❤❤
God bless you as you seek to minister!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Thank you CeeGee, and yes, got it! That is good!

        1. Cee Gee says:

          ❤❤❤
Thanks for letting me know you got it!

    2. AZ Walker says:

Dear Rhonda, don’t beat yourself over what you said to Martha. It’s beautiful that you are out there praying for and helping these people who need Jesus. Sometimes little bits at a time might be better as she ponders. God will work in her heart and give you the words for her next time or with someone else! I listened to Greg Laurie’s podcast this morning about evangelism the first time he talked to a lady on the beach about Jesus as a teen with long hair so nervous reading a track and how surprised he was that she wanted to follow Jesus afterward. I am praying we all can show someone the love of Christ. I struggle with my own family. Pastor Laurie said 95% of Christians have not led someone else to Jesus, not sure where these kinds of stats come from but astonishing!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

        Thank you, that’s true!
Yes, I follow and listen to Greg Laurie and heard him say that as well!! Most of us are afraid to step out of our comfort, but that is exactly what we need to do! :)

    3. B says:

Rhonda, I think you did great sharing with Martha. Planting and/or watering the seed! :)

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Thanks B! It was funny b/c I sent her over to say thank you to Chris, that is the head of the homeless ministry, but also is in my “practicing prayer” group, and Chris said a prayer for Martha too!! She shared that today, that she took a nervous step and prayed! I love how Holy Spirit is giving us more boldness!

      ❤️

    2. Cee Gee says:

Here’s where I am in your question, KELLY: even though I extend mercy, I know it oftentimes isn’t from the heart, but because it’s the right thing to do. One of my biggest failings about which I pray and seek to resolve.
      Thank you! ❤

    3. B says:

Thank you so much for remembering our son’s friend. Sounds like he is feeling pretty good for the most part and started another round of chemo yesterday. He and his wife’s first baby is due the end of the month.
Please keep the prayers coming: for the elimination of the cancer, tolerating the treatments well, peace, safe delivery of baby, and most importantly faith in Jesus. I’m also praying that this serious health crisis will bring them, our son and dil, and their other friends/family, etc. to or back to saving faith and not have the opposite effect. Thank you so very much for praying!!! I am so grateful for all of you SRT prayer warriors!!!

      1. Cee Gee says:

I understand that prayer need! Praying in agreement! ❤

  16. Sandi says:

That would make a great needlepoint sampler.
