Grace Day

Open Your Bible

Psalm 37:23-24

Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

A person’s steps are established by the LORD,
and he takes pleasure in his way.
Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed,
because the LORD supports him with his hand.
—Psalm 37:23–24

    Hi ladies! Sorry for my absence the past few days. I am hoping you all can be praying for my daughter. She has an upcoming appointment for her heart condition. She had an open heart procedure two years ago and she has a check up to make sure it’s looking good. Her appointment is on Wednesday.

    …though he may stumble, he will not fall.. This might not be in the right context, and I have not fallen, but I have fallen into this yucky VERY yuck cold and feeling depressed. I am a little better, but I’m still not myself. BUT God…I know He sees me and as a friend mentioned that maybe it was His way to slow me down as I tend to go, go, go. I’m staying home all day again today and I already have plans of three chores that need to get done. I told myself I would spread those chores out so I’m not doing them back to back. BUT even then God is good! Also please pray for a dear young friend G who was hospitalized last night. I don’t have details.

    Happy Saturday! I also do love all the imagery in the Bible of God upholding us/holding our hands! What a strong feeling and sense that evokes. I read a devotional once (I think it was Max Lucado), we don’t expect toddlers and children to memorize a map and explain all these directions. We simply take their hand and show them where to go to get them there safely. Father, may you take us by the hand and show us where to go, thank you for not letting us fall even when we stumble or veer from the path. May we be little children and hold your hand through the unknown.

    This verse spoke to me so much this morning. I fought a lot of battles this week and the LORD’s hand sustained me through it. While it felt overwhelming at times and I had to dig deep to remind myself that I’ve been given a clean heart and renewed steadfast spirit – sometimes every five minutes through the battle – His guiding hand saw me through it. Praise God for his grace and guidance. Amen. ❤️

  15. Adrienne says:

    After catching up this grace day by reading all the readings, devotional and comments, I feel like I should say with all the deception going on… God directed it all. This gives ME comfort when I am trying to make things work and happen the way I want things to go. He directs ALL of our steps. He, ultimately, is in control…. NOT ME!
    .
    Prayers for my father-in-law again, please? He was in the hospital again (long story). It appears that dementia is the root cause of everything. We are trying to discern as to whether he can stay home, or needs to be in a facility. Husband’s sister last night commented that he was being mean yesterday. Don’t know if he is just experiencing “cabin fever”, or if this is him now. I can’t imagine how our caregiving sisters feel. I have only provided respite care a time or two, and the man isn’t even MY dad. (Well he has been for 34 years, so I guess he is!) And I am so tired.

  16. Wendy B says:

    What a great encouragement to know that the Lord is with us every step of the way no matter what. Hard circumstances, unwelcome heartache, outright bad choices, unrighteous behavior, sorrow, no matter what, the Lord is always faithfully by our side. When we look back over this week’s passages we have seen everything from provision, deceit, fulfilled promise, love, obedience, disobedience, selfishness, redemption, and questioning, just to name a few. It’s tragic, messy, redemptive beautiful and everything in between. And, the Lord’s presence and hand is at work no matter what and is just so clearly evident. He is gracious, He never leaves, He makes a way, He forgives, He guides, He comforts, He is merciful, He provides, He redeems. He is Sovereign over all and His faithfulness does not end.
    The entirety of Psalms 37 is one of my favorite passages of scripture that speaks to God’s Sovereignty despite the realities of the people around and the world. When we trust in Him, delight in Him, commit to Him, be still before Him, keep His ways, even though evil and disaster may come or we make a wrong choice and stumble and fall, He upholds and our inheritance is in Him.

    Oh, Lord God thank you that you have made a way to be in fellowship with you. That you have laid out the path of righteousness, that you are our guide and Shepherd, our Faithful loving Father. Thank you that when we stray away that you show us the way back, that your hand is always stretched out to pick us up. Thank you that you are our stronghold, that you make a way when there is no way, and that we can experience that blessings you have for us. Thank you Lord for this community of sisters and that we have a desire to continue to grow and learn together and participate in this community. I pray that we would become more deeply rooted in you, that our hunger for your Word would increase, that we would bring encouragement to one another, that our love for you would grow and that our hearts would be transformed by you. We love you Lord. Amen ✝️

  17. AZ Walker says:

    I was listening to a Susie Larson podcast and she and her guest were talking about the treasures stored in heaven for those believers who suffer so on earth. I thought of Lynne from Alabama, Linda in NC, and Grammie Sue and what beautiful hearts they have going through so much and coming here and praying for others. I just feel so touched by them. Praying for DW’s ear to heal quickly and not be painful during the flight and visit and praying Mandi’s friend Veronica will have a lovely time today and be receptive, that the Holy Spirit will work in her heart. Praying that Kelli’s friend will get back on her feet soon with her baby and praying many other requests as I start my morning.

  18. Cee Gee says:

    Micah 7:8-
    “Do not gloat over me, my enemies!
    For though I fall, I will rise again.
    Though I sit in darkness,
    the Lord will be my light.”
    (makes me think of Job)
    There was a time – I did fall.
    God was and is my light! He was there just waiting for me to see it/Him!
    .
    Proverbs 24:16-
    “The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.
    But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.”
    .
    Wiersbe says:
    “The strength to persevere is not something that believers generate in themselves; along with faith and grace, it is a gift from God.”
    .
    I have always associated perseverance more in connection with the New Testament, but reading this parallel passage and commentary along with the events we have been studying, makes me look at the OT characters in a new light. Kelly sparked the notion of Jacob’s growing faith. How encouraging to see these characters through a different lens and watch them grow and persevere through God’s gift of strength!
    .
    Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤

    GM She’s, Happy Saturday!
    It is a cold 40 something this morning down here in SW Florida!! But bright sunshine!I don’t move in cold, I am like the iguana’s that just freeze up and can’t move, lol. (it’s a real thing, they drop from trees!) We had a group rally this morning to launch groups tomorrow, but I was unable to go. I am excited about leading a study called “Surrendered!” I want to be fully surrendered to let go, and let God in all areas of my life. The study with Genesis is really highlighting that idea. Really, all of our SRT studies. Letting go, and relying on the God that created us, holds us, and guides us.

    It is a continual work of God in our hearts and minds, a renewing each day. Giving us daily bread to nourish our souls. Giving us a lamp at our feet for each step. Giving us his hand to hold on tight to keep us from falling. AND giving us HIM IN US to comfort, encourage, strengthen, and empower us!! He is good, good indeed.

    1. Kim Mullins says:

      I’m thinking about using” surrender” as my word of the year too Rhonda! I need to surrender the worry and burden of my situation. I know God is working and I have faith in him to see us through. While I don’t try to control things, I let them run around in my head over and over and this brings me down. This is what the devil likes. he likes it when we are thrown off and think of ourselves. We can’t be used by God to our full potential if we are worrying about our current situation. God has always seen me through. He has never failed me yet ❤️

  21. Danielle B says:

    The solace of knowing God has been with me every step of the way in the season He has had me for a while. I definitely lost sight of Him, But God was and is there to pick me up on all the missteps and falls. Sometimes you ladies were there picking me up. Thank you!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤ We love you, Danielle, and are always here to hold you up!

      1. Danielle B says:

        ❤️
        Thank you Cee Gee. I’m here for you too! I appreciate your comments.

  22. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

    I had a similar thought @Kelly Neo!
    I remember reading this when my oldest was a toddler (years ago!). I pictured us going on a walk, him holding my hand. But then he stumbled and almost fell – but didn’t hit the ground because as he held my hand and I pulled him back up.

    That’s how it is with us and Jesus. When we’re holding His hand on our walk through life, He doesn’t let us fall all the way, He supports us with His hand and brings us back up. The key – to be holding the hand of Jesus everyday of our lives.

    Reminds me of the song from years ago – That’s The Way To Find Happiness by John W. Peterson…

    Walking with the Savior on the narrow way, doing all that pleases Him from day to day, reading from the bible taking time to pray, O that’s the way to find happiness…

    Happy Saturday She’s!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      I was just looking at some John W. Peterson music on YouTube a couple of days ago. Our choir years ago sang quite a few of his songs/cantatas. I will look up the one you mentioned. ❤

    2. Tina says:

      ❤ this, Cee Gee! ❤

      1. Tina says:

        Not sure what this is doing here, oops!

    3. Tina says:

      ❤this Sharon. It’s amazing how we can sometimes see our ‘snail’s in God’s awesomely big’. ❤

  23. Sally B. says:

    Reviewing this week’s study I’m reminded how much I truly need to wait on God’s direction and plans! Thankfully He still uses us even when we run ahead (Sarah & Hagar) or when we manipulate (Rebekah & Jacob) to get something He was working on all along.
    Father, give me wisdom to remember You are sovereign and working everything out according to Your good plan, and to wait patiently while it comes about in Your timing and not mine!
    Happy Saturday Ladies!

    1. Wendy B says:

      Amen✝️

  24. Mandi says:

    I have a specific prayer request this morning. I have a friend who I have been praying for salvation for for the last 6 years. She is coming with me to a women’s brunch at my church this morning where another good friend will be sharing her testimony. Please pray that Veronica’s heart is open to the gospel. Thank you.

    1. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

      Mandi – Praying for your friend! May God prepare her heart to hear the truth and accept it as her own!

    2. Rhonda J. says:

      Yes, praying for this request! Exciting she accepted! And hearing other testimonies is always good and touching! Hope she will feel led to accept Jesus!

    3. Cee Gee says:

      Mandi, joining in prayer for your friend who is speaking- that she will not be nervous, but let God’s words flow through her, for Veronica- that her heart will receive and ponder the things she hears, and that the sweet fellowship will be a balm for her spirit that will cause her to desire more. What a blessing for you 3! ❤
      The prayer emoji doesn’t work for me anymore, but hands together!

    4. Searching says:

      Echoing CEE GEE’s prayer for these ladies! May Veronica’s heart be wide open to the Lord this morning.

    5. Wendy B says:

      Have prayed for your friend ❤️

    6. Adrienne says:

      Prayers indeed! Please let us know when she becomes a daughter of the king… she will!

    7. Mandi says:

      Thank you to everyone who prayed this morning. The brunch was lovely. My friend who shared her story did a wonderful job- so God honoring and Gospel centered. Veronica really enjoyed it and I think she will be pretty open to returning. I think there will be some good space for a follow up conversation too. A number of , people were very welcoming to her as well. Thank you again.

      1. Cee Gee says:

        Awesome, Mandi! I know your heart is glad! ❤ Please keep us posted!

    8. Tina says:

  28. Searching says:

    All of Psalm 37 is full of wisdom and encouragement, a boost for hard days when it seems the bad guys are winning. In NKJV, this Psalm is appropriately titled “The Heritage of the Righteous and the Calamity of the Wicked”.
    In these verses we are reminded (a few bits & pieces selected & reordered):
    .
    *For evildoers shall be cut off;
    *The wicked have drawn the sword,
And have bent their bow,

    *Their sword shall enter their own heart,
And their bows shall be broken.
    *For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
    *But the wicked shall perish
    *But those cursed by Him shall be cut off
    .
    **Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
    **Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
    **Do not fret—it only causes harm.
    **Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;

    **Depart from evil, and do good;
    **Trust in the Lord, and do good;

    **Delight yourself also in the Lord,

    **Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,

    **Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
    **Wait on the Lord,
    **But the Lord upholds the righteous.
    **He is ever merciful
    **But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in the time of trouble.
    **For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth,
    **
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.
    **But the meek shall inherit the earth,
And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
    **And the Lord shall help them and deliver them;

    He shall deliver them from the wicked,

    And save them,
Because they trust in Him.

    LORI LACKEY – why? ❤️ He loves us, oh how He loves us … reminds of the Crowder song …
    CEE GEE ❤️ what typos? The Lord so wonderfully made us that our brains fix any of those as we read. Love you!

    1. Kelly (NEO) says:

    2. Karen Swanson says:

      Thank you for sharing deeper into psalm 37. In the structure we can see 3 sections. 1) What God will do to the wicked. 2) What I need to do for God. 3) And what God will do for me. I love the structure of that and the assurance.

      1. M E says:

        Thank you for pointing this out❤️

    3. Cee Gee says:

      Great share, SEARCHING! Thank you so much for that! The highlight –
      He shall deliver them …
      because they TRUST Him!
      .
      Oh, for grace to trust Him more! To truly say:
      Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
      Just to take Him at His Word;
      Just to rest upon His promise,
      Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”
      Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
      How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
      Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
      Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
      I’m so glad I learned to trust Him,
      Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
      And I know that He is with me,
      Will be with me to the end.
      Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
      How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
      Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
      Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
      .
      Re: typos. Your statement (grace!) reminds me of the backward reading tests and those that show how our brains predict upcoming words! Love you, sister!!! ❤

      1. Searching says:

        I was thinking of same/similar, like paragraphs where all the words are misspelled but first and last letters of the words are correct- and our brain can read it. Our God is amazing!

        1. Cee Gee says:

          Yes, I love those challenges and that God designed us with that ability! Seriously remarkable! ❤

      2. Rhonda J. says:
