This study is ringing so true in my life right now. We are switching churches and it’s hard. My daughter should be 4th generation having her first communion in our church, but instead because of lies and disconnect we are leaving. But with these readings it is reassuring me that change is okay. And God is my peace. God is in control and knows what is best for us in this moment. May everyone be feeling that peace as well.

    “Now you are God’s people…
    now you receive mercy.”
Oh, how we have received mercy- most recently as the eye of Helene moved right over our community. Many in this part of South Carolina are without power. We are blessed to have power restored, but no cable/internet yet. I am attempting this on my phone because I missed being here with you yesterday and this morning. Praying in agreement with you all.
    * MARGARET W – praying for relief from the shoulder pain and for all the logistics of surgery.
    * MICHELLE P- How cool that God would send this young man at this time!!!
    * SEARCHING – so thankful you are okay. Praying in agreement
    * RHONDA J – thankful your area was spared this time!
    * CAROLINE BRIDGES – Praying you are okay!
    * Praying along with/for all requests.
    ❤️❤️

  3. Margaret W. says:

I am one of those who has been blessed to suffer no real loss during the storm, but I do have a prayer request that I cannot recall whether or not I shared it. I’m having a knee replacement in 2 weeks, and I have much to do to line up support and help for the post-op period especially. My disabled son will be at camp for a few days, so his caregiver can help, but I will need extra help when he comes home, because he needs attention himself. My church will be helping, I know, but there is so much to coordinate. Also, my right shoulder is in a great deal of pain, and nothing really relieves it. My doctor promised to give me a cortisone shot in the shoulder while I’m on the operating table, but I can barely stand the pain NOW. And it’s not arthritis, so I don’t know what there is we can do to provide any relief. I am getting a massage Monday to work on some of the muscle tension that isn’t helping. Thank you, sisters.

    1. Indiana Elaine says:

Hope and pray your surgery goes well. I am 4 week out and it went better than I expected. Therapy is very important.

    2. Dee Dee says:

Good morning sisters. We are watching/listening from afar in Canada of the devastation and destruction of Helene. I am so sorry. May the Lord be near with strength, comfort, hope, help and carry you all. Eyes on Jesus

    GM She’s, Happy Saturday.
I realize this could be a hard morning for many that were in the path of Helene and all her destruction. I remember the weeks that followed Ian a few short years ago. We still have not recovered in our house and yard, it is devastating how in an instant everything can be destroyed. That also happens emotionally how people can be taken away in an instant and leaves a shattering hole in our hearts and physical absence.

The devotional was so good about that moment in between, remember the before and moving forward in the now. Life is hard…what would we do without our Jesus and the whole scripture that is our instruction book for EVERYTHING! Turn to Jesus for every need. He WiLL make beauty from ashes! He will restore. He is the God of grace, and loves all of His children. The journey may be hard, but that is where we grow and lay our own understanding down, and look to the ONE that holds our tomorrow. The sun does rise, the sun does shine after a long night of darkness. Things are just things, but our stories are hope. A hope for a future. People need our Jesus. What better time to shine the light then today?!

    Hugs Tami.
@Michelle- love that about your co-worker! That is definitely a bright spot! Praying you find the perfect car. After mine got flooded in Ian, I was so happy to find Fifi the Fiat! She is perfect and I get so much JOY running around in her!!

I’m a day late with my readings – these are my thoughts from Philippians 4:10-19…
God has brought me so far, and grown me so much over the years. I finally feel like I can say (or at least getting close) “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” It’s been a long time in coming- after 31 years in ministry. There were many years of “need” and many years of “plenty” now I find that we are somewhere in the middle. But one thing is for sure – God has always provided, no matter how little we have had. And through the very hard times, we never stopped tithing – yet somehow, what we needed always showed up!…I love how Paul states, “I have learned the secret of being content.” It is not something we just have, we have to learn it, and we learn it by trusting the One who gives us strength. “God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ.”!! Amen & Amen!

  12. Tami says:

“In our own liminal spaces, maybe we can find a little bit of that strength too. Not in a naively optimistic way that ignores or denies reality, but in a solid confidence that someday this too—everything, really—will be made right. And in this contentment, we can take the steps we need to.” I’m in that liminal space now. Thank you to all who prayed for my brother BJs surgery yesterday. Sadly they had to stop it because they found the cancer had progressed and it would have been too invasive and risky to proceed. It was a blow for us to be sure. So I find myself in that space of trying to hold onto hope yet not ignoring the reality of the situation. He has 2 young girls, my beautiful nieces age 18 and 13. I’m just so sad today, feeling like the miracle we were hoping for has been taken from us. I never imagined they would stop it.

    1. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

Tami I am so sorry for the sad news. Praying for you, your brother and for your nieces. ❤️

  16. Searching says:

Thankful to be one of God’s people along with my dear sisters here!

As many of you already know, Helene brought terrible devastation to FL & parts of GA during the night Thursday and early Friday, and even more to SC, NC, TN and KY + more yesterday. Praying for those injured, who lost loved ones in the storm, those with damaged or destroyed homes and businesses, no power, no water, closed and damaged/destroyed roads …

We are thankful to have been spared the worst, and heartbroken for those that weren’t, now shocked and wondering how to move forward. Praying for the families and business owners, for speedy restoration of utilities, for wisdom and guidance in decisions. For safety of the linemen, road crews, construction crews who are working tirelessly for those in need. For many, it will be a long journey of rebuilding and regrouping as they work toward a new normal.

    CEE GEE ❤️
GWINETH52 ❤️ praying you are feeling stronger and less fragile today, and praying for acceptance, balance and contentment. I think many of us seek that daily.
MICHELLE P – thankful for the new kid :) Christian coworker, love that he prayed for you. Thankful that the Lord is moving … Mt 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Praying as you car shop, for just the right one!
    TRACI GENDRON ❤️
KRIS – thank you, how often we forget God is all we need … thinking of the chorus, He’s all I need, He’s all I need, Jesus is all I need!
And decluttering our minds and surroundings, may we all be encouraged.

    1. Deb says:

I echo your prays for all suffering such devastation and loss due to storm. Lord, lead us to ways we can be your hands and feet in the aftermath

    2. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:
