Day 34

Grace Day

Psalm 23:4

BY She Reads Truth

Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

Even when I go through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—they comfort me.

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, and there have been many and are some yet to come…
I fear no danger, real or imagined…
For You are with me, my God, my Savior, my Lord, my friend, my deliverer, my rescuer…
Your rod and Your staff, guiding, protecting, for my good, not to harm…
They comfort me. Deep breath. I am at peace.
    Amen.

    Oops- I wasn’t finished.
After that terrible journey through the valley of death…He PREPARES a table for me! That word PREPARE means He doesn’t just throw something in the microwave. When I “prepare” a table for someone, it takes thoughtfulness and true caring. I ponder over the menu and the decorations. Oh what a beautiful truth that He does that for us!

    1. Mari V says:

Oh Kristyn I’m so sorry for this terrible journey you went through. A very close friend of mine went through this many many years ago. You are not alone and I love how are you and your husband set your eyes on our Jesus! Yes He prepares a table for you and your husband! Praying for you!

God brought this very part of Psalm 23 to my mind three weeks ago as I prepared to deliver my stillborn son. I shared with my husband while we were in the hospital how comforted I was.
It says “even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death”. Even though. Even though this was not what I prayed for. Even though I’m walking through devastation. I will fear no evil. And what’s next in that beautiful psalm?

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

I will fear no evil…and there’s plenty around, but He is closer to me than my own breath, and He will safely guide me all the way home. So very grateful.

Reading this psalm this morning…..we are all walking thru a darkness in our world today. We don’t know how long this will last and hear conflicting information every day. Thank you Lord for these words from David. You are with me and comfort me ,help me to keep my eyes always on you.
