Grace Day

Open Your Bible

Hebrews 10:22

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.

I am really appreciating our study in lent but I am so thankful we are given ‘grace’ days on the weekend because I am also doing a Monday bible study in Hebrews with some other fantastic ladies and I can use the weekend to get caught up on the home work which usually entails re-reading the whole book of Hebrews. I have read it through twice already but the more you read anything, especially God’s word, the easier it is to memorize. (Although I did appreciate that certain lady {can’t remember her name!} who told us to write down the first letter of each word in the passage you wish to memorize and it will help. It works! I did it with last weeks lent scripture and still know it and I am 78 years old so never say you are too old to memorize anything.) I also remember something Abraham Lincoln told on how he studied; he said he read out loud whatever he wanted to remember and by taking it in through the eyes and the ears he would absorb it faster. He, too, was right. And by reading out loud my mind cannot wander!
We should show respect to our Lord by not only reading his word often, if not daily, but also we should try to remember what it is we’ve read. I have been a student of the bible since before I was saved, ( I wanted to KNOW I was saved but wasn’t until I was 30 but did not realize it!) about 50-60 years. Not bragging just wanted to let you know that you can never know everything about the bible so it behooves us to never stop reading it. I back slide on this too but I am SO thankful when God brings me back to Him and I find His word a joy to read once more. I love learning new things about my Savior and that’s why I am always ‘up’ for doing another study of his precious word. And I know we are going to need eternity to keep learning about Him because, once again, we can never learn all of Who He is even then!! Now that’s a thought isn’t it!!

I have been so overwhelmed by this book, and was finding it hard to follow along. I have started to listen to the audio while reading … it is helping me to slow down and read more meditatively and as a result, I am gleaning so much more from the text. I am listening to the KJV and reading along in the NIV … it’s been kind of fun to hear the KJV renderings. I don’t know if we are allowed to post links? This is free and not promotional; whoever the reader is, she is exceptional. https://youtu.be/7SS4o6zLh-I

I’ve been doing this study on my own with the book and have really struggled at times. The heaviness and Jeremiah is echoed in the world around us. I decided to go ahead and add the digital version today hoping that being a part of the community of women would help. I wish I would’ve thought of it sooner! Reading through all of the posts has been not only enlightening but also a comfort. It’s such a blessing that we can all learn from each other‘s experiences! Thanks everyone for sharing >

    1. Jen Brewer says:

Agreed, Heidi! It is a blessing to study the Word in community. Welcome to this sweet fellowship of sisters! ❤️

    2. Mari V says:

I feel there is a lot of uncertainty in my life right now and as someone that likes control that is hard for me to deal with. I can tell that I am doubting God’s plan and not trusting Him to deliver. This verse reminds me that I need to lay those burdens down and head to the foot of the cross. I confess, He washes me clean and I can trust in His goodness.

    1. Mari V says:

Praying with you Kristin through these uncertainties. And YES, Jesus has it under control.

I so much agree Churchmouse!! There’s no better way to spend our time than with Jesus.
Jesus is my everything! I cannot start my day without Him! I right now “sigh”. Because of Jesus I was able to be strong and go back to the courthouse to file more paperwork. No attorney. No paralegal. Just my Jesus and I. I saw a couple of people that I know and I’m thankful as I know it was God’s way telling me, “ I am with you“.
It’s Saturday! And in a little while I’m off to do what I enjoy very much. Running. Though I am training with our students from our school, that’s OK. I still put on my worship music and go. I’m a happy girl. It’s supposed to rain, but that’s OK. Have a blessed day my sweet sisters! And those of us in the West Coast don’t forget to set your clocks forward tonight LOL!

  14. Ariel Harris says:

God please help me to clearly see my sins and be unafraid of them because of your grace.

  15. Churchmouse says:

Hebrews 10 is a favorite chapter. It reminds me that Christ’s sacrifice was once for all, one and done. When sins have been forgiven there is no need to offer any more sacrifices. The curtain to the Most Holy Place is fully open and I can boldly stride through. Jesus is the great High Priest who accompanies me there, right into the presence of God. It is His shed blood that tore the veil, that makes me clean and pure, righteous to enter. No guilt. No shame. A clear conscience. Not because of anything I have done but because of His sacrifice on my behalf. When I realize this gift He has given me, I want to indeed draw near. I want to sit in His presence more often. I want to pray more. I want to listen for His still small voice until it is the only voice I hear. I have the full assurance that I can trust Him with all of my life because He gave His life to save mine. I pull up my chair and lean forward for there is no better way to spend my time than with Jesus.
