Day 6

Grace Day

from the Zechariah and Malachi reading plan

Micah 6:8

BY She Reads Truth

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Mankind, he has told each of you what is good
and what it is the LORD requires of you:
to act justly,
to love faithfulness,
and to walk humbly with your God.
—Micah 6:8

God is so amazing. This week has been long and it is only Tuesday! I opened my study this morning- telling myself that no matter what I had to get done- I could make up the time elsewhere- but this time belonged to us (me and Jesus). And my study this morning was entitled “grace day”. Just one scripture and a prompt to sent the time in communion with God. What a gift on this Tuesday morning!

We have been told! The hard part is following those simple instructions. God is first, and foremost.

I love that this passage tells us “what the Lord requires of us.” So often, we claim, “I just want to know God’s will for my life” when in reality we just want to know a particular answer to a decision we need to make. Ultimately, God wants us to be just, love mercy and walk in humility!

In Lysa Terkeurst’s book, Embraced, I read this morning:

“Seeking-really seeking-is more than just reading a few verses from the Bible in the morning and trying to be a good person that day. Seeking requires me to sacrifice the things I feel compelled to chase so I can be available to notice God’s clear direction.”

Direction that guides in acts of justice, faithful love, and a humble walk with Christ.

Simple does not mean easy. I need God every day to help me live like this.

  6. Sue says:

Micah 6:8 challenges me to take what I know in my head, to get off the sidelines, and take action to join Jesus in his work in this world.

It’s a call to act, to love, and to walk.

And by doing so may others know, like in the messages of Zachariah, that there is hope in Christ.

He has told each one of us. We are without excuse.
